Be careful about your student loans make sure you do all your paperwork and check everything good school to be at first year
I personally found my KKC experience immensely rewarding. And I had the joy and pleasure to meet an admission person - a Ms. regina - who really and truly made KKC experience truly rewarding.
Food is always good & it is always so busy my daughter and I went today but they forgot my grandson gyro sandwich by the time we got home and realized it wasnt in the bag I had to be on my way to work and she had to pick up the grandbabies from school so just check your bag if you have a large order. Also I enjoyed the Ice Cream the Coconut Almond Joy was really good
I gave a ride to a friend so I can only speak to the ease of driving there from Little Village to the institution via the inter-city expressway around noon, it was an easy drive in moderate traffic.
This college overly fire and they radio realll nice.😌
I am a alumni of Kennedy- King. The old one on Wentworth. Was passing by the New one yesterday. Still got that old loving feeling.
I had a great experience when I went to register for classes today with Ms Regina in admissions. She was very nice and pleasant. She was very much aware of job description. I wish we can have wonderful people like her in the customers service fields today.
Its wonderful, pay off my Alma mater, Harold Washington College - City Colleges of Chicago! Yes!!!
I heard a song that I would be willing to buy on the radio station. I called the radio station. The guy that I talked to wasnt sure and said he would have the program director call me. The program director called me two days later, had no idea of the song I was talking about, claimed that she would get back to me. I heard the song on the radio less than a half hour later, called her back, left a message telling her exactly when the song came on. Never heard back from her again! I like most of the music that I hear on this station, however, they never say what they play! The program director is unprofessional, and most of the djs are old. Give a young person or a student a job! Some of the djs are in their 50s and 60s!
ZERO stars for the financial aid office/department. All the staff that I was able to talk to were all terrible, like if they came from the same place, with no manners, very unprofessional including the men thats always sitting next to the door doing nothing and just giving the wrong information to the students. They all think that they are better than us just because they handle the paperwork for the financial aid. They think that you wont complain because if you do, they might not do their job right and you wont be able to get the help that you need financially but that didnt stop me from speaking out even though nobody does anything to fix the issues in that department. I just think that they dont have the right to disrespect us in anyway. Hopefully someday, things will get better !!! Good luck going there ...!!!
Beautiful campus.
Ive had nothing but positive and helpful assistance while registering for the 2020 Spring Semester....Grateful to all the staff in all departments.
Very friendly service
Not sure what they had in mind when designing the campus grounds, but this place is the most difficult campus to maneuver. There is fencing which prohibits your ability to get to the building unless going around. Which takes you a block or more out of your way. Doors and gates that should allow you access are locked. Once you park you car in the lot, good luck finding and walking path out of that lot thats completely fenced in from the sidewalks. Other than that, Im sure the education you receive is stellar!
This place is nothing but a waste of time. If youre trying to get a career degree this place is not worth spending up to $1,000 to try to even get a decent college education in this very clean school thats surrounded by people who do shoot during school hours. You will regret spending your time and your sanity here. Im on a relatives computer and these power hungry PROSPECTIVE PhD INSTRUCTORS (dont even have a degree themselves) expect TOO MUCH from even their poorest students who CANNOT meet the criteria based on the fact that theyre BROKE and DO NOT have any money for half of the course requirements. This place is nothing but a waste of time.
This school is terrible and the people that work in the offices are some of the rudest people Ive ever met. I absolutely hate it when I have to go into the office for anything or even make a phone to someone for help because they act as if they dont want to help you when you come to them for problems. Every time you go in one of the offices or call an office on the phone, they try to rush you as if they dont care. They speak to you as if youre already supposed to know all the answers and just seem condescending and it makes me not even want to go to anyone for help. They also rarely give you any real information over the phone and their answer is basically just to look for answers on your own. Ive either had to call more then once with the hope Ill get to speak to someone different who can actually help me or physically go into the office just to get an answer to a simple question. I honestly wish that I had choosen to go to school somewhere else. I cant wait for my final year at this school to be over and will not reccomend this school to anyone else. The only good thing I can say about the help at this school so far is that the counsellors are nice and are actually a big help to you when you need it.
Its not the school that has the problem. Its the people that go for the wrong reasons. If youre a 1st timer, the experience is crazy no matter where you go. However, if you about your business and not a clown, youll love the school. Stop complaining unless youre contributing toward the solution. God Bless All!
Great place to learn with excellent professors
This is the worst place to come to get an education. They are closed most all day on Friday and when they are here Monday -Thursday they dont have a willingness to help you then either. This school is employed with a pack of people who wants to collect checks and does not care about any of the students. Signed please find a better place to go if you want professionalism and an education.
Jerome Balfour’s lack luster service as an academic adviser is factual evidence as to why Kennedy King College has and continues to experience a drop in enrollment. Mr. Balfour does not understand that as an academic adviser he is one of the first impressions of the institution that myself (a perspective student) and current students have as a deciding factor as to whether or not we choose to enroll or stay enrolled with the institution. He has a very unmotivated and standoff personality and was unwilling to offer me assistance or further explanations to questions asked. As I and others convened in the lobby we all noted the lack of progress we received after being seen by Mr. Balfour. I would like to give an excuse to his behavior as we all have bad days, but after speaking with his team members his unprofessional behavior is unfortunately his status quo.A college institution is none the less a business institution whose primary success depends on the satisfaction of their students and students alike. Whether the employee is a student employee or not, it’s imperative the staff servicing their clients are knowledgeable and trained to be a valuable resource to those seeking assistance.Hopefully in the future Mr. Balfour can motivate himself to the position he’s been granted as an academic adviser so students are encouraged to have a better college experience.
My major was moved here this semester from HWC. Their class size is smaller, which mean the teachers are able to be more attentive. Also they have a gym, team sports, fitness room, and swimming pool. Hwc had none of the previously mentioned amenities. All the staff are very helpful. They also have 2 security guards for every building, which is set up in typical University style.
Dont be white they will be racist twoards you. Really bad neighborhood. Half the houses around there are abandoned.
Im having fun and learning alot, going back for my GED. The staff is great.
Its A Very Good School of higher education in the Neighborhood.
Love ALMOST everything about this school. My only complaint is the finance office staff. Not all of them, but there are a few who are disrespectful and do not understand there job. One attempted to DENY me of my financial aid because I couldnt prove that I financially provided for my daughter in 2015 WHEN SHE WAS NOT BORN UNTIL JANUARY 2017, and she knew that, but still insisted I needed this proof. She then suggested I get food stamps. When I asked where a DHS office was, she proceeded to brag about how she never needed food stamps, how would she know and talked down upon people who do. I dont shop at ALDI but I could easily tell you where one is located so that was unnecessary. Ridiculous. I called FAFSA and they said she was wrong. I filed a complaint with FAFSA and spoke with the president of the schools assistant Needless to say, she did not get away and I got my aid. Besides all that, everything is great there. The financial aid office manager was very helpful, and so was the second women I worked with there.
Very relaxed environment, and classroom sizes arent as big as other campuses, which gives you opportunities to get to know your classmates, and more time with the professor. Great campus! Compared to the other City Colleges of Chicago, i have not encountered many rude staff members. For the most of it, all staff members that Ive encountered are laid back, and down to earth. Kennedy King College isnt a bad school, but the area may be sketchy in the evening hours, but i havent encountered anything crazy as of yet. I think many students avoid taking classes here, due to the campus being in Englewood, but there aint nothing to worry about, as long as you arent up to no good off campus you will have a great time at KKC. Kennedy King College sits right outside of CTA Halsted, and has a Divvy bike share, if thats your thing! There is also a huge parking lot, if you wish to drive to campus. Many make it a headache registering, but once you get in a routine its very simple, and painless.
Kennedy-King College6301 south Hustle StreetChicago, IllinoisMarch 2, 2017Professor Janvier Jones,I am emailing on behalf of a complaint in regards to Professor Sigfrido Reyes. On February 21, 2017 around 10:00 a.m. Pensacola (cst), I attempted phone contact with him. Though he had answered the phone, he then asked me to hold for a moment which I agreed to do as I was grateful for his time. However, when he put the phone down, I heard him say to whoever was in his office at that time. I heard these exact words, “It is no one on the phone, but an online student.” Then he continued talking to an unidentified person in his office. Unfortunately, I hung up because I was on a prepaid phone; however, I called back about five minutes later to talk with him in order to discuss a class assignment. Once he picked up the phone, we began to speak about the classroom assignment. During the conversation, he emphasized that I needed the textbook for his course. As I was explaining myself to him, he became rude as he reiterated that I needed to purchase the textbook. He also stated, “If you do not purchase the book, then you need to withdraw from the class,” so rudely. Though I tried to tell him that I could not afford the book, he responded, “That’s not his problem.” He also reiterated that I could use a textbook from my local library. He also told me that it was not his responsibility to tell me this information and he continued to speak rudely toward me. He even stated, “I have a personal life.” I expressed that I understood his point, but I tried to convey to him that he should care about his student, especially in regards to their academic performance. I then asked him to stop yelling at me and then he used profanity before he had hung up the phone on me. Though I attempted to contact him three times, he refused to answer my phone calls. As I was greatly concerned about such mistreatment, which was quite unprovoked, I contacted the college and spoke with different office managers according to college policies in order to resolve my concerns.Best regards,Mattie L. I started my first year at the old Kennedy King back in 2007 when I was 24. I lived within walking distance from the school. I met some great people from different cultures and did well academically. I had honors English and got the inspiration to start writing and journaling... Once the school closed I began to pursue a family and had my daughter in 2008. I took online classes from another City College while I nursed my daughter for the first year of her life. I then moved to Arizona after I received a offer from a Fortune 500 company. I met a beautiful woman that inspired me to start my own business and do something that I truly loved. I realized that I needed to finish what I started at KKC and moved back to Chicago in 2012. It was slightly challenging for me to adjust my Mental Perspective and get back into the campus life. The staff always helped me whenever I asked them questions. I would go to the career room after class and look for Jobs and the staff was always Motivating me and uplifting me. With a focused mind and creating positive patterns, prayer and faith I graduated in 2014 with my AAS in Liberal Arts and recieved a Marketing Management Certification also. In 2013 I took a poetry class and a 2 Speech classes and I created my first website and started writing a poetry book. I never thought I would be able to do anything of those things before I started at Kennedy King. I published my poetry book with Outskirts Prees in March of 2016 and Im now working on my Signature Cardigan line in light of the upliftment of Cancer, Lupus, and African unification. I plan to open my first boutique this year in the same community that inspired me to be Great!!! I thank God for KKC and the entire Staff they are all a big part of my success journey. I pray for the Abundant Health, Wealth, Success, and Prosperity for everyone student and staff member past, present, and future. ❤🙏🏾
Beware before signing up for this school. It will behove you to check out other schools before going to this ghetto dungeon. The adcademic advising office consist of rude, unprofessional, condesending, advisors. These people absolutely abhor their job,and treat you accordingly. The financial aid office is even worst. When the receptionist finally acknowledges you, it not done with a greating and a smile, its more like a grunt and then pointing to the sign in sheet. you walk away feeling belittled and disrespected as though you just visted the cook county jail.
I THANK JESUS FOR THIS SCHOOL. EVERYONE THERE ARE GORGEOUS, AND SO ARE MY CLASSMATES, AND TEACHERS.I DIDNT EVEN KNOW THAT THIS COLLEGE WAS NAMED AFTER JFK AND MLK, SOOO GORGEOUSDDONUTS I VISTS EVERY MORNING AS SOON AS I GET OFF THE BUS, AND AFTER SCHOOL BEFORE HEADING HOME. THEIR ICE COFFEE IS GORGEOUSTO EVERYONE WHO ATTENDS KKC MAY YOU HAVE A BLESS BLESS DAY, AND YEAR BECAUSE I AM, PRAISING JESUS
I went to KKC for 6 semesters and I can tell you right now-that any student who is pointing the finger at KKC for being a bad college is absolutely wrong. I have been in classes at KKC and have heard professors tell any struggling student to go to tutoring (KKC has an excellent tutoring program) and those same students will not go. In one of my classes, there were 3 young students (I was in my fifties and I graduated from KKK with honors in Dec. of 2011) who asked me why I was trying so hard to get a good grade in the class. Those students consider it to be cool to get bad grades. The KKC Instructors bend head over heals to set up meetings with students in order to help them out and the tutors at KKC are exceptionally intelligent. I dont know if Richard is still the tutor in the computer lab (2nd fl in the W Bldg) at KKC but I can tell you right now, it will be difficult for any college to find a tutor who knows computer functions better than Richard. DO NOT listen to any students who put KKC down because you will only be listening to students who never wanted to study and get good grades in the first place...I recommend KKC to any students who want to get a quality college education.
Kennedy King College is home to Radio Station WKKC-FM. WKKC-FM is a local Chicago Southside Jazz radio favorite with the Jazz Community. Check out the WKKC-FM Radio Station lineup for the Jazz music times. WKKC-FM 89.3
The professors are great and work with the students but the staff is horrible. They lack any willingness to help the students and constantly make Mistakes with students paperwork
I think it is the change in staff year 2000 staff are no longer there when I asked for a copy of my certification they told me I would have to go to Malcolm X I graduated Kennedy King College stars I gave was for them not 2019
The staff is unproffessional and when I called to get my transcript they either never answered the phone or put me on hold for a long time until somebody had hung up. This college is a joke.
