This store sells donated/used books for a lesser price. All of their books are under $6. They even give away some books for free. I got three books for free and it made my day. The staff was very friendly and sweet. Recently they moved by the Washington blue line station.

You never know what you’re going to find here. They’re basically a Ross’s for used books and media. I like that the money from purchased goes to CPS. I was able to find some inexpensive story books for my cousins here.

I love bookstores, especially used bookstores. Carpe Librum has a large collection of books/music/DVDs to choose from, and located in such an excellent place between the Red and Blue lines. It’s right on my way to work and back, and if I have the time I’ll go in to simply just book browse.

Carpe Librum is a cool bookshop with a great mission: All proceeds go directly into the work of Turning the Page, a non-profit organization working in North Lawndale to link public schools, families and the community to ensure students receive valuable educational resources and a high-quality public education. Turning the Page provides home learning resources and activities, creates spaces for parents to build relationships with other parents and teachers, and builds a bridge to future leadership and advocacy opportunities for parents.

Inside, each floor is unique and sells a different variety of goods. The building is easy to navigate and outside, the Macys window display provides a fun visual experience for families and shoppers.

So many good finds! And all the profits go to buying books for CPS students in North Lawndale.
