First I would like to say the people here are so friendly and knowledgeable! my boat survived a Chicago winter in the water 😳 lol. I didnt know what some parts were but I made the corresponding sound to what the boat was doing and was able to get an alternator and alternator belt (2) PROBLEM SOLVED! I had to replace one drive and service the other all of the fluids, seals and gaskets I need it they had PROBLEM SOLVED! I needed underwater lights, navigation lights, Bimini top parts and even a toilet seat they had it all PROBLEMS SOLVED!I even custom painted my boat and they had the matching fenders LOL!! Out a little extra money so I replaced my Humminbird depth finder with a Garmin depth finder with GPS sonar and a bunch of other stuff I cant remember😂😂😂 THEY EVEN PRICED MATCH CABELAS SALE PRICE ON ITEMS!! GREAT PLACE TO SHOP/GET HELP. I ALSO BROUGHT A SEA RAY F14 JET BOAT! THEY EVEN HAD THE PARTS FOR THAT ON THE SHELF!!!!

Nothing is in stock. Have made two trips here this year because its the only retail outlet here in Chicago. I mostly purchase my marine needs on Amazon or order online somewhere else. Quick little trips for an immediate need cant be accomplished here. Like a deck scrub brush or 3/4 lines. Service isnt very good and prices are way too high. The guy I asked for help said their supply chain is messed up because of the pandemic. It wasnt that good before the pandemic and other retailers are back up to full strength now. So I just dont buy that excuse anymore.

The best! A bit overpriced, but when you need a part or boating supplies, they are the spot to go. Staff here is incredible. I’ve been to many west marines and can always count on the Chicago team to give the best recommendations and help however they can. Also just super friendly people who love boating and outdoor recreation.Note to corporate: Replace the doors! they have 2 sets of doors to get in. One of them you have to pull to open and the other is automatic. Why can’t they both be automatic, PLEASE. The staff is so courteous, they always go out of their way to open the manual doors so it’s not such a hassle to shlep out the hundreds of dollars of supplies I just bought from your store. But really, it’s so frustrating to try and open a door and push a big cart through it.

Shopping for Fishing Gear. While the Online advertisement appears to boast a wide variety of supplies, the reality is that they only had a small half empty rack of overpriced items. One will do better going to Amazon, a used item store like Salvation Army or trying their luck at a Garage sale.

Terrible service. Honestly ordered parts 2 weeks ago which they said would be there in a week. Then we went and ordered more parts (Huge Mistake) were told the parts we previously ordered would be a little late. Well 3 weeks later and guess who has zero parts for thier boat? Then when you call its the same old song and dance. Parts are delayed parts should be here tomorrow or this is a good one we have not unloaded everything or unpacked everything yet. Then when you go inside employees are not around or chit chatting they are under staffed for sure. Phones ringing off the hook. The only nice person in there is the cashier with the purple hair. She is kind and sweet. Everyone else can kiss it. Where are my parts already????!! Beyond over them.

I was a pro member for over 15 years. With mgmt change, they determined I wasnt buying enough so that dropped our company. Now they have new mgmt change again and they are inviting me back. Nonsense! 2 stars cause they have nice local people working there. Corporate sucks!

They have EVERYTHING you can need for a boat or marine craft !! The staff is knowledgeable and FRIENDLY. The prices are a little steep, but I keep returning... probably the best marine store in Chicago

DO NOT SHOP HERE!!No one knows what going on ask questions about online orders placed days ago as well as in store purchases and continue to give me the same product i literally returned no one gives u a straight answer and will basically ignore u during your conversation. Place is miserable and they do mot know what’s actually in stock or not.

I come here for splicing tools and ropes. They have a large selection of rope by the foot and a solid amount of whipping twines. The people that complain about the prices are most likely people that dont own boats or are just Amazon shoppers. Very convenient location and a large parking lot if youre driving. Glad they have a brick and mortar store in the city.Also dog friendly!

I a so glad I stopped at West Marine. I called ahead of time to be sure they had what I needed to be legal boating on Lake Michigan. I have a 17.5 Pro Tracker. I left with a whistle,, electronic beacon instead of flares, budget fire extinguisher, aluminum paddle. I fished all morning. On my way to put the boat in the trailer the Conservation officers were doing inspections. Thanks to W.M. I passed. Thanks

Today I found the deal of the week. A great heavy Gill weather proof coat on the clearance rack. Last years model, but okay its still a great deal. Always check the clearance rack.

They do not serve the one. Order took over 2 months to arrive. Due to the continue delays and no one online or via telephone, which took several hours to connect with a person, of anyone being able to give me an update I purchased the products from amazon and they were at my house the next day. I filled out an online request to cancel my order while it was still in the pending status, one month after order, and the next day and called and waited on hold for another hour or so to speak to someone to cancel the order. One month later the items showed up at my house and my credit card was charged leaving me to haste with having to return them and waste more of my time to get my money back on items I cancelled twice.

Well their prices are high and they never seem to have what I need. The reason given is that the wear house can’t get supplies. Walmart has the epoxy I needed and at half the price. Won’t bother visiting again.

To begin, if you are a boater then you came to the right place, they have anything you can possibly need, and they offer price match.If you’re looking for parts (mercruiser/Volvo) you better have a part number ready and you better make sure you have the right one. You can get simple maintenance stuff but nothing major, they can order Sierra and aftermarket parts but not genuine Volvo/Mercury.They parts guys are somewhat helpful but they are not service techs.Overall a good one stop shop for boating needs, if you need parts then I suggest calling a boat shop/dealer

Cool marine store with an engine repair/parts department, neat. I bought a fancy backpack here for a steal and just perused the aisles, before picking up my online order. The store was super clean and well organized. In addition, the employees were friendly and helpful. I dont really boat, so I dont think Ill visit often, but based on my limited experience Id give them a shot for your boating needs.

Since buying my SeaRay 290 this is the only place I know will have everything I need as a one stop shop. Staff is friendly and helpful and the selection is huge.

Website said they had fishing gear but when I went they did not have any. It took about 5 min for staff to actually ask me if I needed help finding anything seeing that only one other person was in the store.

For a flagship west marine, it doesnt even come close to the Newport or lauderdale stores. Lacking supply of quality racing lines, almost no wetsuits (this is Chicago right? The water is cold), and a staff that wont let you cut your own line (then dont measure when they cut it themselves). On top of that, a disastrous assortment of quality sunglasses and clothing apparel.
