I have an older car and aside from “it’s been driving differently” I didn’t know how to explain what was wrong. Loren, Jason, and Alan took the time to go over what needed to be fixed immediately and what could wait a little longer. They kept me in the loop about how long it would take and gave me a fair quote. My car is driving great now. Great local spot, excellent work and customer service, and good prices!

I got a flat tire hours before I had to drive my partner to a job interview... I was in a slight panic and needed the tire plugged. Other places turned me away because they were too busy. Not Tuffy! They were so kind that they even started my work order before they were supposed to be open. This was over a month ago, but I didnt forget, and the tire is holding up just fine. Im definitely going back to them to service my car... kindness goes a long way - thank you guys!

I was having an issue with my Jeep and wasn’t sure what was going on. They were able to get my car in right away as I needed it back over the weekend. They provided a detailed overview of what they expected to be the issue, walked me through a step by step of the fixes and gave me a quote for the repairs. They delivered on that with a quick turnaround - appreciated the open communication and was able to drive my car when needed with no issues. Will definitely be returning for any other auto repairs and work.

No parking available so you have to find parking on the street when you first get there but thats most of Chicago. The owner and the manager are both very friendly and easy to deal with. The prices are also very competitive and they take less time than their estimates which works out well. I have a couple of other repair shops closer to me but still I go a little farther to go to tuffys because they do a good job.

Tuffy Chicago is absolutely great! I fully trust that they are taking care of me and my car. I took my Jeep in for an oil change in anticipation of a longer drive, and they pointed out that my tires were quite old and starting to crack. They were then able to change out my tires same day without issue. Fantastic auto-service and even better customer service!

They were extremely busy but they managed to fit me in as soon as I showed up. They offered me a cup of coffee and completed the tire repair before I even finished my coffee. Extremely reasonable prices, amazing service and very friendly.

Due to just wear and tear wound up having more work done than originally anticipated. They did a great job of being straightforward and honest about what the issues were, and what needed to be done, as well as any issues if I had wanted to delay anything. Their communication was great, especially given some of the work kept the vehicle with them longer than originally thought. They also added on a coupon for me to help on the price. Had the chance to chat with the owner when picking the vehicle up, and he was friendly, honest and frank about some of the general questions I had...very personable. Location is great for me, and the pricing is very reasonable and fair. Great customer service, and I will definitely make them my go-to for all repairs and maintenance work.

Tuffy’s I would say is okay, they service my car for a heater core in which they charged way to my for labor hours that really wasn’t used. I also have a video of them not even servicing my car but taking forever to call me. In fact, I had to call them to get my car back because they parked it on the street and wouldn’t even return my calls when trying to pick it up. I know that they will say different but again I have video footage that I took while watching them from a far off. I believe that if they stop charging people more than what the job really coast and the return phone calls to those who leave messages. I think they would be an A quality place to take your car after all, people work hard for every penny that we earn and would like to have quality treatment with great customer service. This to me is what makes me have an everlasting relationship with auto service people.

Tuffy Auto Service Center Chicago is my go to auto service center. Part of the neighborhood and a great group running the business. Friendly, flexible, and helps you understand whats needed for maintenance.

Shop tried to charge me more than i was originally told. Was not given full price upon arrival. I even asked what the price was going to be and they told. I then later was informed about certain things that had to be done and was going to be extra. I did not appreciate not being told upfront what needed to be done. This is unacceptable and therefore made my trip to this place not great. This overall was over priced compared to other places for just a simple oil change. Will not go back.

Tuffy has great customer service and willing to help. I had a tire that kept needing air and they always were willing to fill it and just had a license plate issue that they kindly helped me out with! Such nice guys!

This is a fantastic mechanic shop. Ive taken a recently purchased Cherokee Sport project to them a few times. They always do professional work and its always done in the time they tell me it will take, if not faster. While it may not be the cheapest place to take your car, you definitely get what you pay for, especially considering their pretty generous warranty on their work. My Jeep is running great now and I feel safe knowing my girlfriend is driving a well maintained vehicle. They have always been honest with me and I feel that they keep my budget in mind when discussing options. I really appreciate having a reliable mechanic nearby who I know will always do the job right.

Tuffy Auto Service has always provided quick and friendly service. Due to the ice and snow, the splash guard on my car was dragging and making a horrible sound while driving.Allen was especially helpful - he got my car in and fixed the same day I called. He gave me a rough estimate of a replacement splash guard, which I appreciated. However, Allen and his team were able to simply reassemble my splash guard at no cost! Thank you Allen and Tuffys!

Tuffy was great at helping me in a pinch. They fixed my flat tire quickly and made the process hassle free. Like most auto shops, they did provide a “list of projects” my car needed, but when I politely declined, they didn’t put up a fuss. I’ve been taking my car to Tuffy for the last few years and they always come through for me. They’re timely, honest, and reasonably priced. I had an appointment for an oil change and tire rotation but asked last minute if they could repair my passenger door handle for me. They did it and still had me in end out fairly quick.

I rolled in with a flat tire and Jason was great. He was able to take my vehicle immediately, the issue was diagnosed and fixed in less than an hour. The price was reasonable for the repair + they have a good sense of humor; their sign reads “It’s back pumpkin spice oil change”.

Loren and Jason were great! I needed a quick oil change and tire rotation before the the holidays. They got back to me right away and were incredibly friendly. Found some additional issues with my vehicle, but did not push the up charge. I normally feel talked down to as a woman at auto repair shops, but everything at Tuffy felt honest and sincere. Even when I turned down the additional work. I will definitely be returning!

I had a great experience at Tuffy. I found a screw stuck in my tire, so I brought it in to get it sealed. The puncture was bad enough that they didn’t charge me for plugging the leak since it likely wouldn’t hold long-term. The charge was really reasonable when I returned to have the tire replaced. All the staff was very friendly. It’s good to find a good shop close to home.

Tuffy took great care of me! I brought my car in for an oil change in the morning, and at mid day got a call reminding me that I needed new front tires and rear brakes. I was given a quote over the phone, and they had completed everything by the end of the business day! The cost was very reasonable, and everyone I interacted with was pleasant and communicated well. Loren was especially friendly, and he provided me with useful information about long-term care of my car. This will be my go-to auto service center as long as I live in Chicago. I usually dont go out of my way to write an extensive review, but the guys here truly deserve every single star and shout out they get. I drove right by them about a week ago, and chuckled at their sign that said new management, new attitude, then guided by some otherworldly force, my car decided to break down a block and a half away! Talk about serendipitous!Im not sure what the attitude was before but I can attest that NOW they are super friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, honest, and all around good bunch of guys. When I broke down (the first time), they lent me a gas can, then when it wasnt that and my gigantic van was still blocking all of the traffic on Diversey, Loren came out, walked a block and a half to get to me and try to give me a hand, he gave me numbers to towing companies they trust and use (I dont have a smartphone), and they checked my van and fixed a wiring issue FOR FREE! That was last weekend.A couple days later, I came down to them again, via a tow truck. Now, thats not to say that they didnt fix the problem. The problem was just a little deeper than we all initially thought, and of course I wasnt going to complain after my friends did me a solid last time. Second time around they did all the diagnostics and ordered a part for me and everything, but it turned out that the computer they ordered needed to be programmed therefore they couldnt just install it for me. They were always upfront and very communicative with me. I really wanted to pay them for the diag., and wish they could have been the guys to gettim fixed up, but it turned out that I have to get my computer rebuilt by none other than the dealership. So after 5 days of a free parking spot on their lot, they still wont let me pay em because according to Loren (and I quote), they didnt do anything for me.Now, Im not saying that they will give YOU anything FREE, being that I was just driving through Chicago and I live out of my van I guess they just felt compelled to help me. I cant even put into words how thankful I am for all their help and knowledge... they literally just helped me out of the goodness of their hearts! I am incredibly appreciative of their help, patience, honesty, and all around good vibes. I now drive off, happy to know the gang here: Loren, Jason, Adam, Allen, and everyone else. They always have a smile on their faces, even though they are busting their butts every second of every day! They truly care about their costumers and give everything they are advertising. Keep keepin em busy, Chicago so next time I drive through I can find the gang still here with their two ducks.

I had car problems namely a dead battery with an older automobile and I am from Iowa. I was not familiar with places to go to get a car fixed in Chicago. Fortunately, We got a recommendation of Tuffys on Diversey from a friend and this place is terrific. They were efficient, honest, on time and kept you posted on what it was happening with your cars maintenance. I would highly recommend this establishment due to their great customer service and reliability. Wish we had this Tuffys in Iowa!

I had a leaky tire and called first thing in the morning. They told me to bring my car over, but it might be awhile since they had a lot of cars to work on. Totally fine with me as I didn’t need my car that day. I got a text a few hours later saying my car was done. Only $35 to patch up a hole a nail made! Very happy with the timeliness and cost. While I hopefully don’t have to come back, if I need car work I will bring it to Tuffy!

Had a coolant hose break. Luckily I was less than 10 mins away. Called then brought it in about 45 mins before they closed. Turned out it wasnt too bad and they were able to temporarily fix it so I could make it back home to the suburbs. Excellent work and it held up great. Didnt even charge me much. If Im ever in the area and need anything else done Ill be bringing it here

What happens when you pull into Downtown Chicago at 6 pm on a Friday & hear a clicking coming from your tire? (A bolt & washer had somehow gotten stuck in my tire.) If youre luck enough to find the guys at this Tuffy location, you get fixed up quickly & make it to your concert just down the road on time! These gentlemen were very kind to my friend & I, who were traveling into town from Detroit. We were very grateful for the fast, friendly service..... the great conversation, laughs, & coffee were a bonus too! Thanks again guys!

My only complaint about Tuffy is that No One calls me, I always call to see what is up! And if I called the prior week to tell you what I needed done to my car, why doesnt anyone check then to see if you have those items available, and then order them if you dont? Instead of no calling me and then making me wait while you get them from another location? I was your first appt. yesterday, 8:00. My car wasnt picked up until 4:00! The customer service has changed dramatically at this location and not for the better! The workers here are super nice, but it should not take 8 hours for simple tasks to be completed.

Man what an amazing experience. First time customer and finally have found that place I’ll be taking my car for all its services. Loren was great. The employees were all joking with each other (That’s a great sign!) Everything was explained in detail. The customer service is top notch and Loren makes you feel like you’ve been friends forever. Also a dog-friendly establishment.

Came in before a road trip because my brakes were making a terrible noise! They got my car in right away and advised of the issue with no ifs, ands or buts! Told me exactly what I did and didn’t need. Very thankful they were able to provide quick service for a very reasonably price. Will definitely be my shop from now on!

The place gets busy but if you make an appt, youre in and out at alloted time.

I went there on my day off to get my tire fixed because there was a screw in it. When I got there I was told they will try to get it done that day as long as my tire wasn’t seriously damaged. Ended up being fixed in 15 minutes and I was able to go about my day. Very friendly workers! Would go back again for timely service and nice staff

I highly recommend getting your car serviced at Tuffy! I drive a Volkswagen GTI and they were able to take care of my transmission, fuel injection system, and coolant system with no problem at all, and for a much lower price than I was quoted at the dealership. In fact, my dealership had suggested a transmission flush that isnt even possible to do on my car (I drive a manual). Loren called me up right away to let me know they wouldnt and couldnt perform that expensive service, but would change my gear oil, which is a cheaper service!Loren was also incredibly kind and easy to communicate with. If youre looking for a trustworthy place to get your car taken care of quickly, take it to Tuffy!

Tuffy on Diversey has assisted me many times with my 2007 Pontiac G6. Every time I leave my car with them, they complete a detailed and comprehensive inspection of my vehicle. They even attempted to reach out to a prior mechanic to have them correct work that should have been covered under warranty. They always go the extra mile (haha car pun) to help me. They are polite, helpful, and educate me on my vehicle so I know what to expect. Their customer service is like no other place I have experienced. Tuffy always provides me a cost breakdown so I know exactly what I am paying for. There are no scam artists here! I highly recommend them and will continue to call Tuffys my go-to car mechanic.

FOR FREE, my car dealer told me that my car needed LOWER BALL JOINT .Tuffy is near my home and I decided to fix my car. I mentioned to Tuffy manager that I had a problem with the ball joint. Manager said that Tuffy needs to check the car for $135 and if I fix my car I will get $65 back.Their estimate : OVERPRICED. I decided to take my car to other repair shop.Several times, I took my car to this business when it was under other management.Tuffy charged $140 to my Visa Card. Ten estimates a day $1,400 profit without doing any work . I DO NOT RECOMMEND this Tuffy car repair .

Loren and his crew worked quickly, communicated clearly, and completely eased any anxiety I had revolving around my car. When I went to pick up my vehicle, Loren doubled checked my car personally to make sure everything was taken care of and then went an extra step to start the car so it would be warm when I got in! Ive used Tuffy a couple of times for oil changes theyve and always been very friendly and provided very professional service. Prices have reasonable. I recently brought my car in because I thought I had a leak in one of my tires - turns out that it was just low on air, but they were kind enough to check each of my other tires and did not charge me for any of it! I will definitely be coming back to Tuffy for further auto maintenance needs.

Went in Saturday for an oil change. I made an appointment that morning and called many places to make sure this was the cheapest price. They told me $30 after I told them my car year and model! Ended up paying $75 because they said they couldn’t use regular oil because of the manager being there. If I didn’t have my 4 month old with me I would have went somewhere else but I just didn’t want to deal w any extra hassle! This place just wants to upsell clearly. Could have at least given me a deal for lying before I went there. Shaking my head lol

These guys are the best! I live close by and they have helped me out twice now with exceptional service. All staff are friendly and welcoming to me and my kids ( and my lack of car knowledge)My license plate was knocked off in a parking lot. These guys put it back on for me free of charge. Highly recommend. Normally i feel uncomfortable in car/mechanic shops - but this place was very welcoming.

Tuffy was unexpectedly great. I know next to nothing about cars so whenever I take my car in to a shop I assume Im going to get overcharged for work that isnt really needed. That was not my experience here. I told them I might have issues with my brakes but all it needed was a brake fluid flush that cost around 150 dollars. They were also super friendly. Going forward Im going to use tuffy anytime I need my car serviced.

Everything you’ve never experienced in a car service center. Friendly introductions, warmth, honesty, and fun. That’s right, fun. Went in with low tire pressure and left laughing. Even my 9 month old was entertained. While checking my spare (just to make sure it was in good shape, because why not be even more helpful) they brought it inside to show me how “cool” it was. It’s some weird new model but whatever that’s not the point—they clearly care about what they do, and it shows. I finally know what it’s like to trust a car mechanic!! We have been here twice. Once to patch a hole in a tire from a nail and this last time to change a rear tail light. Both times service was excellent and speedy. When we couldnt get a screw loose to change the bulb ourself, they did it for us free of charge. Its so nice to have a friendly, trustworthy mechanic around the corner. I never feel like I am getting up-sold and I actually enjoy bringing my car there.
