They did a great job with my transmission. It was repaired on time, with good communication. Im very satisfied with this repair shop! I usually do .ost of my own repairs, but transmissions are a bit more tasking for me. So trusting a repair shop wasnt easy for me, but they exceeded my expectations. The transmission went out on my 07 Chevy Truck. I took it to this AAMCO, after I did a walk-thru the day before! I was impressed with how organized and focused their shop appeared to me! They started work on my truck the same day I dropped it off. The manager Julio, was very professional, explanatory about my problem, and understanding towards my situation. He made a Bad Day, Not So Bad! My truck was repaired and ready to go in less than a week, despite all the work done to it. And now I am CONFIDENT that even with my AAMCO Warrenty, I Will Have No Worries! I am Very Satisfied and I have No Hesitation about returning here for any other repair work I may need!! I dropped my car off @ 10am for a steering & suspension inspection & it took 2 full days to provide a diagnosis which I wouldnt have gotten if not for my persistence (I called a couple of times, they never answered so I stopped by twice). Doing the work was out of the question because they were booked until the following week. The staff is super cool, I just think theyre short-handed so their progress is slow.

Recently purchased a 2007 Chevy Monte Carlo, brought it in to Julio and his men to have it inspected. They discovered a slight slip in the trans and took care of it for me. I went to get trans checked without an appointment. I was not able to get in that day. Eventually I bought another vehicle but to my surprise the manager called and asked if I still needed to have my car serviced. I was totally shocked! So let me take you on the long story short version as to WHY this shop and its employees ARE so wonderful....I have an 02 mercury mountaineer that needed a transmission replacement. I searched online looking for a shop. I called a few, but the tone, and the professionalism wasnt there. I saw AAMCO and realized Ive used them in the past. I called and spoke w/Joe. Right off the bench Joe(AWESOME sauce💗) the other employees that Ive spoken with, and the owner were VERY nice, courteous, and professional. So I had my Girl towed there. These guys are world class nice and awesome. As a woman, and especially if you dont know ANYTHING abouts cars... Youre always hoping NOT to have a run in with a horrible shop, and get taken for a fool. But this IS NOT the case. One would HOPE🙏, to run into a shop like this. My car had been down for a month I took it to Julio and he explained to me everything that was wrong with my car to where I felt I could be a mechanic. My car has been up and running fine I had a few concerns I called Julio he told me to bring it back so he could look at it and he fixed my few concerns with no problem. I initial was referred by a family member who happen to be a mechanic, insisted that I go to the location on halsted, most of his customers, he sends them over there to have work done there, I first met Joe Johnson by phone, who is very professional at what he does, he took great care of me giving me updates on the estimation of when my car would be ready and explaining how to get finances to pay for the work. He was very helpful in that manner as well as resolving a recent matter with my vechical. Joe step in and resolved the matter in a professional way. I came in thinking I had a transmission issue but really needed an engine much to my surprise. The first person I spoke with was Joe who carefully explained what my issue was and walked me through the process. He was also patient when I called back to say that I was going to get a second opinion. Well needless to say I did need the engine and was very happy with the quick turnaround. I left Aamco Transmissions with a “mini” car repair lesson with the help of Julio. Go see the J brothers and you won’t go wrong. I left that place a satisfied customer.

This is a very sketchy place and I advise everyone to stay away. I drove my car here to have a free inspection of the transmission because it always had a problem with shifting funny like the clutch was slipping. I parked my car out front and the worker took it for a a test drive and parked it inside the garage when he got back. we discussed some prices and he offered me a price to buy my car off of me. I declined and told him Id shop around and get back to him. as I got in to my car to leave I noticed my manual lock knob was broken which he didnt deny doing but never told me that he broke it. he offered to buy me a new one but never did. even more, I attempted to drive my car and it would not go forward, it would only go in reverse. why would my car suddenly not be able to drive after he looked it over? I had to get it towed from here and never went back! very very sketchy place. and the inspection was not free like they said

I loved the place I took my car to have my transmission inspected and they did a wonderful job. I was so impressed with the staff especially Julio he was such a gentleman and explained everything in detail. I wanted to put a used trans in but Julio advised not to because it could be a bad trans. Very similar to the comment below. I took his advice and had it rebuilt. He saved me time and money. I dont know why people give hate comments. I think its cause they probably didnt understand the process. Ignorance is bliss. I would highly recommend AAMCO and its staff, namely Julio. Very professional and detailed. If you go in with an untrusting attitude then you walked in negative from the start.

NEVER take your vehicle to this location to be for repairs located at (12307 S Halsted St, Chicago, IL 60628).Rob who claims to be from Corporate hung up the phone in my face, just for asking questions that were very polite in nature. He lies often about the type of repairs that the vehicle initially needed. He NEVER keeps his word with providing consistent updates. I have to call literally everyday and have been over the last 67- days since my Vehicle has been in their possession for repairs. This is totally unexceptionable. How impolite of him and unprofessional can one be. Ive ask to speak to the owner named Adam several weeks ago and still have NOT received a return phone call. There is some funny business going on there and need media and lawful attention. Im waiting to here back from the Franchise Corporate office to determine next steps.Aamco is such a ripoff and very dishonest. A family member of mine took their vehicle to this location for transmission repairs. It cost my family member approximately $2800 for repairs. The car was returned to my family. And approximately 5-days later the cars was yet again back in the shop for transmission problems that was to be fix the first time. The vehicle has been back in the shop for over two-months without an ETA. The Meantime to repair is known. The manager has made NO attempts to rectify the problem. What a BIG inconvenience this has caused my family. I may also add that this location has changed Management like 2-3 times within in the 2-months. Please stay away. I wish we had read the consumer reports before conducting business with this location and franchise.

This place is a Ripoff they take advantage of their customers vulnerability. They reel you in by telling you that they will tow your car for free. Only to have your car up there for days on in. Charged me $330 just for an electrical diagnostic test. Then told me that they couldnt give me an estimate of the repairs. Stay away from this place. I dont recommend this location nothing but lazy mechanics & the owner is no good.

Dont even deserve a star I took my car to the Aamco on 120th and halsted for a simple transmission oil change this morning, instead of them giving me a transmission oil change they had told me that they need to run some Test on it first, when I got my car back it looks like it was ok, the moment I drove off in it start making weird sounds, smoke start coming out the engine, the heat stop working, my car start over heat, not only that, the fan belt was off and my car stop running on me and my kids all this just for a simple transmission oil change

Took my van to 3 shops, 2 told me I needed a new Transmition but Julio was honest with me and told me that I did not need a new trans just a sensor saved me money but more important he did not lie like other shops. Ask for Julio, he will be straight up with you.

When me and my dad brought our car to AMMCO he gave us the best price and talked directly about our car. Im really glad that my dad and i went to AMMCO for a car check up and i recommend this place for all of you.

Theres no doubt that I went with this Transmission shop because it is closest to my daughters house, and they offered a line of credit. I never met the owner Danny, however, I have dealt with no one but Julio. My entire experience with Julio has been unpleasant. I absolutely dont trust him! From the time I brought in a used working transmission, that cost me $600 to put in & all of a sudden not work. Of course, Julio kept reminding me that theyre not responsible if it doesnt work. Of course, I have no way of knowing if it really didnt work! Cost me of $1700 to have the transmission rebuilt. Thats only because I told him that I was going to go to the Aamco shop in Cicero who did a diagnostic on my transmission, and offered to fix it for $1700 with a 24 month guarantee. My mistake being bothered by the distance of that shop. Julio claimed that the other shop was corrupt and told me he was doing me a favor. He initially matched the offer, however, upon picking-up the car the cost went up another $400.00. He claimed that there was a lot wrong with the transmission. I told him that I had already spent $600.00 plus I was expecting to spend another $1700, which meant that I am now spending over $2300 on the transmission. That I couldnt afford to spend $2700 on this car. He agreed to drop it down to $1700, but he dropped 18 months off of the warranty. So now I have a 6 month warranty, instead of a 24 month warranty!One week after driving the car, both I and my daughter noted that it wasnt running correctly. I took it back, he had one of his workers drive it They didnt see anything wrong with it. However, Julio took the opportunity to try sell me more time on the warranty. I told him if you did such a great job of rebuilding the transmission, why are still trying to sell me an upgraded warranty. He reiterated that its for my protection.9 days ago, I brought the car back because the transmission was really running bizarre, to the point that my daughter is terrified of driving the car, because she barely made it home from her job in Oak Brook. I was talked into leaving the car there (on 7/15/17), & that he would call me back on the following Monday. That the owner Danny was going to look at my car. Of course when Julio didnt call me on that following Monday, I found out that Danny didnt come to work that day. I asked that they supply me with a rental car because I have no idea when Im getting my car back. I also asked that Danny give me a call. To this day, I have never heard from him. Julio called me on Tuesday to inform that there was an issue with the transmission and that the warranty would cover it, & that my car would be ready on Friday or Monday. Well, its Monday evening, and I never heard from him. At this point, I am highly unhappy and unsatisfied with the service of this shop. I would never recommend this shop to anyone! I plan to forward this review to Aamco Corporate! I still dont have my car. Im outraged and disgusted!
