Pro tip: Come during the weekend if you want to experience the real Asia. The store is small, place is packed with aunties pushing and jamming the narrow aisles. This is the real deal. The store offers free parking if you are willing to risk your car there ;-), they offer fresh veggies, real butcher meats, fresh tanks full of seafoods. Check out my pic to see what they carrys.Chicken feet anyone?
Excellent grocery with good prices and good selection. Its a long standing asian market in the community, and the bad reviews are all from people who should just stay out of Chinatown anyway, in my opinion. Yes its a small space, but its not an American luxury warehouse market. No complaints from me if you know how to be polite and let other people around you. My go-to for Chinese ingredients and herbals. Ill be trying the fish soon when its not hot and Im riding a bike!
Very crowded and narrow aisles. Poorly lit store. There were some interesting finds though I didn’t find what I was looking for. There is live seafood there as well as seafood out in the open on top of ice like actual Asian markets. Prices were comparable to other stores. I would not recommend.
Great shop in Chinatown Chicago, they have everything from China 💪👍👌🇺🇸
Interesting grocery store in Chinatown of Chicago. Dont expect anyone to understand you here if all you can do is speak in English. You will find some exotic groceries that are otherwise hard to come by at so called Asian markets or the Asian aisle in you favorite Meijer or Target. The place looks a bit messy and you need to bring some time to study the aisles.
Very crowded, even with Covid-19 restrictions. Fine if you are in Chinatown for another reason. Otherwise there are better options elsewhere.
Not a word of English on the phone... Operating a business in America...... Unreal! do you sell Kewpie mayonnaise, and I spelled it .... We No speak English two different people related .....had no idea what I was asking...... then hung up on me. Lol. Oh well, I tried to give you my business.
Much wider selection than the markets south of Cermak, and very nice staff that even gave me some free cookies when I checked out!
Great place for Chinese items. Very busy and parking is a challenge. Items and selection is amazing
Small, compact specialty Asian food store. Convenient. Parking a plus.
Excellent selection of Chinese and other Asian products. Great live lobster selection. Small quantity of fresh produce, not very fresh. Limited free parking.
Great place for Chinese grocery shopping
This is a great collection mini mart, daily fresh vegetables fair price worth a trip.
Strong fish smell.
I appreciate the selection but its very difficult to social distance due to the very narrow aisles. however everyone appeared to respect mask wearing and did their best to make space. the staff was helpful, nice, and quick.
Wonderful shopping environments, nice price, Courtesy services, Valued supermarket !
Good selection, a little tight in space, but the cashier is always willing to help you find a box for your things
Used to be the Chinatown Market. Its now Park To Shop chain owned. The bigger store on Archer has more selection of vegetarian items than here. But this place was always my place to get produce, tofu, seitan and some preserved vegetables. Not as good a selection for sauces like the bigger store. But its good for the kind of space they have here.
Very convenient and located close to the subway, but meat selection is lacking despite having most things
Too small and tight of a place if your trying to be CoVid safe. Also they dont have Fat Boy sauce lol.
Good location and easy to park
Being from a city like New York, this sequestered spot seems a bit cordoned off. However, this market offers from ethnic opportunities that you wouldnt find from the bigger chains. It is great when looking to expand our views on cuisine while offering competitive prices. I enjoy coming here and if you are in the area, I would do the same if you want to get Oriental cuisine (sorry not sorry if that is not PC anymore, because I mean no harm)
High quality Chinese market
They probably have everything youre looking for but Heaven help you if you need assistance, because youre not getting it here!!!
So many wonderful things. Its hard to gather together what youre looking at sometimes. This is the place in Chinatown for their best price and not the tourist prices at the little shops.
Like other shoppers have said before me, this market is fairly small. When there are many people, it can feel very crowded. I think they have a pretty good selection of items.
A solid four stars for a solid store. Its run by Park To Shop (which is also a Chinese supermarket down the road). Good selection with reasonable prices. It pretty much has all the bells and whistles, apart from a bakery. The only downsides are that they are incredibly cramped and there is an undisclosed minimum to use credit cards here.
Great selection of products and produce. Well stocked and quite clean. They dont have any products that we could find from S.E. Asia, mostly Japan and China. But that probably makes sense given the name of the market and its location. If you spend over $50 at the market they will give you validation for $2 parking for three hours. Great market!
My son took me on the train and we ended up in China town in Chicago. I visited with him an he took me all over Chicago. China town was very interesting and I would go again. I just dont do much walking but that day was one exception. Had a great time .
Luv this place. Prices always cheaper for more product then regular grocery stores. They dont speak very much English but they do have everything listed in English so you know what the product is. Fresh water lobster and fish. Fast friendly check out
Well-organized good variety of inventory. One of the only places I can find sweet soy sauce. Do you recommend for any Oriental, Asian ingredients you need
Clean, friendly nes could be better, but is regular.
Didnt get what I was looking for, but they were helpful
I think this is one of the staple markets in Chinatown. Ive been able to find my old favorites as well as newer snacks and foods that have been hard to find. This place is quite small as far as the aisles so dont expect to be super comfy lol. As its been with me for most of my childhood, it definitely is an necessity in grocery shopping.
A gem of Chinatown
Good supply of Chinese foods, fresh vegetables, live fish, crabs, etc etc. Limited parking and tight too. Tight aisles and tiny shopping carts and the place smells of fish. Yet, for all the negatives they still get 4 stars. I guess youll have to go to see why.
Go there every tow day
Very good supermarket for family food shopping. Great selection of items!
One of the best places to go for home, good food, snacks, etc. Defiantly check it out.
Favorite store for wide variety of teas, soy and rice reasonably priced. They have everything Oriental that one could want
The place is too smallIts a lot cleaner! ThanPrevious visits! The price of products increase three times!
Found everything we needed. From chicken feet to corn flour, to rice noodles. Great experience.
Ended up being ~$24/person for all you can eat hot pot. Good selection of fresh veggies, meats and side dishes. A few options for broth bases too.
Smelled like a seafood place but I cant complain.
Great market has a little bit of everything with live seafood.small parking area so go early.
Great selection in general for such a small space but especially strong on noodles and snack foods. Only weak spot is the rice selection: virtually no medium grain options and most are just at the quality of a normal supermarkets Asian isle.
Great selection
This market has pretty much anything and everything you can think of in terms of specific ingredients. From novelty candies drinks to fresh fish/meats/produce to literally hundreds of kinds of noodles. Although it is always cramped with people and the isles are narrow, it somehow is always flowing. Checkout is very quick. I love shopping here for my groceries because EVERYTHING is economical AND affordable. If you buy tofu anywhere else (especially in downtown chicago) youll be paying around $4 or even $5 a package. Here, the variety of soy products is outstanding, and the packages I buy on a regular basis are organic and only $1.09. The store is fairly clean, which is great given the fact that theres constant in & out traffic. I definitely recommend checking this place out.
Clean store. I really enjoy buying products from here. I just wish they had someone to translate or speak English
I go to Chinatown for all those things that I cant see anywhere else... Is that simple. Candy, tea, rise pastas, and so much more. I have learned and experience many flavors and how to improve my health just by visiting and trying their stores and their culture.
Chinatown Market offers an authentic foods and beverages from China. Its a very cozy place where you can find live fish and other sea food. Its very convenient to stop there and get back in the L system or park in the Chinatown parking lot for as little as $3.00 when you validate it.
Typical Chinese ethnic grocery centrally situated in the Chinatown business strip, next to the new Chicago Public Library, with limited free parking by the building and parking validation for nearby Chinatown Parking Lot. A good selection of fresh veggie, meat and seafood. It can be a weekly grocery shopping stop for the whole family, and also a quick pit stop just to grab some tasty snack.
Great selection, not much English spoken but you can get away with it. I visit when Im in the area, fresh market. Is small and can get crowded.
Cozy grocery for authentic Chinese food. Live fishes, lobsters, crabs, and exotic seafood. But meat section is small and variety of dry food is limited.
Lots of Asian products, live fish, lobster etc . Clean place too
We had a fun time. A great Chicago experience.
🤠🤗Interesting place, I suppose if youre looking for some particular ingredients for a Chinese dish or an Asian dish, this would be the place to go. Not a place where I would spend much time and again, nothing there looked very appetizing. I went with my son to look for a particular candy, they didnt have it, I perused the store, left fairly quick.✔️✔️✔️
Nicer people and lower price, always my first option
Great chinese grocery store in Chicago. This place is stuffed to the gills with great products. Not the largest store but it has everything you may need.
A bit narrow inside, but the price is very good.
Great selection of East Asian food, tea, and candy.
Good collection if Chinese and southeastern Asian grocery and fresh produce. Place is always packed in weekends.
Pretty cool. They had what we wanted.
Been sprouts sold here are more fresh than any other places. I wish the isles were broader so that the customers dont have to squeeze into the wall when they pass each other.
Lots of items and fresh produce in a compact place.
Small but excellent selection. Fresh noodles and produce.
This is such a cute asian supermarket. They sale canned coffees drinks...cakes snacks and other goodies from china japan and other asian countries. The cashiers were cool. The only thing is that they also sale fish or seafood so it can get smelly and messy by cashiers. But if you are in the area check them out they have tasty snacks and drinks you can buy and take to your home or hotel. I bought package sponge cake and vanned coffee and it was yummy treat. 😋
Love this spot of Chicago. Grab some Dim Sum then walk around the stores with a bubble tea. Perfect afternoon.
I love Chinese food always have and always will
Many interesting things to buy in here. Very ethnic bring your google translator because this place is like being in China not much English going on.
Good local asian market with nice selections
The cleanest supermarket, great deals!
Good seafoods and variety of Chinese grocery, a bit small to move around inside.
Its ok. Its so small and selection is limited. They have good seafood and meat options. Veggies are always limp. I wish they had bigger space. And its a bit dirty in there.
It made me so disappointed.I bought pork ribs in the market, they asked me : do you want the ribs to be chopped? I said yes please. thank you. when I come home and open the bag. I really cant recognize that is the ribs I bought. They are all soft bones like rib tips. But Im sure what I bought is ribs with few rib tips. Why they cheated me?
This place is great to grocery shop they have fresh Vancouver crabs and king crabs the only thing they have a small parking space but other than that i highly recommend it
My Wife and I come here often! Great store!
Doesnt always have everything you want, but pretty nicely stocked. Store isnt too big, so everything is cramped, but has all the essentials. Always packed with people, but lines move pretty fast. Free parking for shoppers which is a plus!
Super small Chinese grocery store, but has a lot of stuff. From hard to find items in the suburbs to common items that a Chinese eat. I will come back again if I am in the area.
Went as a tourist. Found some good and interesting snacks. Staff was very helpful and friendly.
Good location, but its small (limited selection of products), a little dirty/slippery/poor lighting, and very crowded. Most Asian/Chinese markets a few minutes away (by car) are bigger and cleaner. However, if you are in Chinatown for a meal and just want pick up couple of things, its very convenient.
Good place to buy Asian food products but is more expensive than other Asian markets which my only complaint.
Fair price. Look out for the exp date of the product. The associates and cashiers are usually kinda rude. Its very crowded inside. Its one of the few options we have to buy Chinese products.
Great place for finding everything from mapo tofu sauce to ground pork, dumplings and green tea kit-kats!
Always good food and nice place for family.
Good small & tight market that had Chinese grocery.
Bought hotpot meat (beef), prepared everything for a good hotpot, opened the meat package, only to find that the bottom part of the package (hidden by a layer of meat on top, is inedible, pure fat. I had to throw out half of the package. I have never been tricked by a Chinese market until now, and this place lost my business with its dishonest practices.
