I just had a 1920s themed wedding this December downtown at the Blackstone Hotel on Michigan Ave. Sara at Zap props was fabulous and also very enthusiastic. I could tell she just loves her job and it made me feel excited to be around her. Zap Props is one of the coolest places I have ever been in! Sara helped find the perfect props for us and really made our vision come to life! Sara helped create 1920s vignettes for us to make the cocktail hour authentic. We had a gramophone and a vanity area, an old type writer and paparazzi camera. Together with some of our old family photos and heirlooms the vignettes made the evening perfect. She was really easy to work with and was super helpful scheduling a convenient pick up for us at a really reasonable price. She took pictures of all the items set up so we would know how to make it look good for the wedding day.

This is my goto spot for unique and practical props for any movie or theater production. The selection of items is vast and well organized. The staff is very helpful, reasonable and friendly.

Im not commenting on the store itself, but on the owner. A warning to anyone seeking an interview with Mr. Rawski: Make sure you do not try to gain any insight on why he started the business, because he might blow up at you like he did at me. I tried to interview this gentleman for a college final project, and he got frustrated and stormed out. Bear in mind I had already spoken to his daughter and told her the kinds of questions I would be asking. He was aware that I was not a professional and acted very rudely towards me when I was just trying to learn good interviewing technique. Specifically, he called me a liar, just because my questions touched a sore spot for him, I suppose. His daughter may not have informed him of what I would be asking, but that is still no excuse to behave so immaturely. He acted as if I was trying to con him in some way, when my only intention was to learn as much as possible. I was not made aware by anyone that certain subjects are sensitive for him. I had to be escorted out by his daughter, whom I appreciate at least for making the ordeal not as bad (I still almost cried on the way back to school, so thank you for that, sir). I never received an apology whatsoever for this incident, and because of this last-minute change of heart on his part, I subsequently failed my class (that project was the main assignment) and ended up dropping out of that institution altogether. The whole reason why I wanted to interview Mr. Rawski was because I admired his passion for cinematic history and wanted to learn more about him as a person, not just his magnificent store. Since then (its been a couple years), I have switched my major to film, my true passion, and am almost done with school. Needless to say, however, I would never contact this establishment for any filmmaking needs, and I will discourage others from dealing with it.

Our church rented a prop from here for a childrens event this past summer. Quite the hike to get there, but they are super friendly and were very interested in feedback so they can better serve you in the future! Was refreshing to have them ask how we liked it and how we used it so they can respond with recommendations for future events we might like even more.

Went here for my job looking for a vintage TV to film. This place is like stepping back in time. Literally every decade is represented with something. Vintage electronics, furniture, medical equipment, and tons of other stuff. The staff were helpful and friendly too.
