Good shop. Some times dont have what I need but it is a smaller store. They do a great job of it.
The sales guy was awesome. He looked up two old classic car and truck for me to see if he could find those classics in model kits.
Cool place but unfortunately they dont sell many parts for Axial brand RCs but they do have alot of good stuff in there
Had an absolute good time talking to the guy running the shop or owner whichever one he is I dont think you can really tell the difference if he was just up cashier or not because his knowledge was extensive and very easy to talk to going into a hobby shop with a 2-year-old isnt very easy and he made it so
Great place for hobbies. If they dont have it they can bring it in from thier other store
Every time I go in there, the staff are more than willing to answer any and all questions I have. If they do not have a product, theyll do their best to get it to the store as quickly as possible from either their other stores or from a vendor.
They are very helpful with my sons R C cars.
The store is really well thought out and organized for how small it is. The guy there is much nicer than the ones from Fort Collins, even though its the same owner. Ill be back in there again soon.
Did not carry any parts needed and guy tried to act like I didnt know anything about my personal RC car. Would much rather drive to fort Collins for better service.
Great selection of remote control cars, trucks and parts.
Honestly, it kinda pains me to write this review, but perhaps this review can help this store straighten some stuff out. First of all, I have no interest in RC cars or planes, which seems to be what this store and their staff care about 99% of the time. What I am interested in is the hobby of hobbies, scale models, which the staff has little to no knowledge in and frankly seem to have a noticeable disinterest in. The staff can rattle off the part number of some tiny gear in a Traxxas car off the top of their head, but dont know the difference between acrylic, enamel, and lacquer paints. If youre looking for models and visit the Cheyenne location, Ill save you some time and tell you what they have to offer. They have a handful of tanks, about a dozen WWII aircraft, and enough ships to count on one hand. They also have a strange selection of modern day Chinese warships from a brand Ive never of (Bronco) if youre into that sort of thing. On the plus side, they do have a good selection of model paint strange enough and youll find every major brand there and thats why they get an additional star (MM, Testors, Tamiya, Vallejo etc.) Just dont go in asking for an airbrush setup, they carry almost nothing for them. If youre looking for airbrushes, Hobby Lobby down the road carries compressors, airbrushes, and replacement parts from quality brands like Iwata surprisingly enough.Anyways, I picked up a WWII aircraft model a month ago but they didnt carry the specific/unique paint. Not to worry, I thought, Vallejo makes a nice box set with every color needed for this specific project. A quick look on Amazon, eBay, and big hobby websites all carry them but I thought I should probably support the local business and order from them, even though it was going to cost me more (HTUSA has a pretty big markup on just about everything). I approached Tim and asked to special order it, even though Ive never had any success with special orders over the years. After half an hour looking and with some assistance from his coworker, he was able to find the SKU for the Vallejo paints. All is well, Tim tells me the paint set will arrive around 10 days later. I could have scored the paint set on Amazon Prime in 2 days, but I feel better supporting small business, so Ill wait.Fast forward 2 weeks later, I call asking if its arrived. The store associate informs me it hasnt but theyve ordered it 11 times it looks like. 11 times? I find it hard to believe they are buying 11 of these niche paint sets to put on the shelf, but he assures me it should show up soon. A week later, I go in person to see, and Im informed again that they paint hasnt shown up yet. And finally, after a month of waiting and my model still not painted, I showed up in person and talked to Tim. Tim obviously didnt remember being the one that ordered it, and once he looked it up in the system, he could give me no further details on the order. I try my best to be very pleasant to retail workers, but at this point Im a little annoyed and I tell him they are 0 for 8 on special orders being fulfilled. He shrugged his shoulders and said Well, Im sorry to hear that. and just stared at me, offering no further help. I tell him to cancel the order, which he seems happy to do. Guess I shouldnt be surprised, I wasnt ordering a Traxxas part after all.I ordered the paint set on Amazon like I should have done in the first place, and it will be here tomorrow. Meanwhile, Ive had a great experience with WHOs Hobby House in Rapid City, South Dakota. Fantastic huge selection, and knowledge friendly staff that are excited to talk to other model builders. If youre in that area ever, check it out. Its pretty cool! Meanwhile, I hope HobbyTown Cheyenne improves. I was one of the customers that went out of my way to buy stuff when they were planning to go out of business back in 2017. Nowadays, I dont know.
Ive been going here since I was a little kid, and they always have a new project for you or project supplies. If you havent been here definatly check it out, they have been limiting supplies from low foot traffic so please support this local hobby shop so they dont close! Highly reccomend.
Purchased a traxxas revo took it out for the break in, on the last stage of the break in my revo stop working. I took it back and told them what happened and the customer service that I received was unbelievable. They fixed my truck right away no charge to me and I was back up and running in 5 minutes. I will be picking up another revo for my son.
Joe is the guy. His knowledge is worth the trip. Brand name products great selection
Good hobby store I have most things that you want, Staffing his knowledge of all things in the store. Bought several radio control plane, drones and cars. Everything worked well but didnt work they replaced happily at no charge.
The guys here very nice and helpful,a good stop for your hobby needs. Wide selection of hobby cars, models and paints.
I was so happy to see another hobby store open up in Cheyenne. Ever since the one closed that had been down from Target in the early 90s there had not been one like this in the area. I would travel to Dons Hobbies in Greeley (gone) or Caboose Hobbies in Denver (gone). This gives the area a small local store that has some items in various genres. I live models, trains and various other hobbies that they cover. They also allow people to try other hobbies that they may never had thought of, especially if they had only been frequenting specialized establishments. I love the variety represented in the store.
Great motorized hobby place, guys are always friendly and willing to help find what you need.
Awesome and knowledgeable staff. Very friendly and willing to help with anything. Their prices are fair and the have a large selection.
Experience was great. The staff was friendly and very knowledgeable. I was able to get everything I wanted at a very affordable price. In the past I have had to special order some items and even with that the service was excellent and the order was received in a reasonable time and was exactly what I had ordered with no problems.
Not exactly happy with my experience here. I purchased a drone from here, charged it up and went to fly it and a motor was shot. I brought it back in original packaging with the receipt and they WOULD NOT refund me my money. They told me my options were to either buy a new motor or have in-store credit. I wont be shopping here again.
Hands down good customer service. Bought a used nitro rc from a pawn shop and they (hobby town)checked it out even used their batteries to get it running. Very happy with my experience.
Best customer service!!! I agree, I wasnt greeted at the door, but I waited my turn and everyone I talked to was so friendly and knowledgeable. They even reserved the last model on the shelf that I was interested in purchasing for Christmas. I came back 3 days before Christmas and they still had it set aside for me!
Great selection of fun hobby things! Found a robot kit for my son. He loves it! They have model airplanes, cars, RC cars, all kinds of fun stuff!
Great to have a hobby store in Cheyenne. My husband and sons enjoy RC cars and they have a good selection of cars / parts. If they dont have it they will order for you. One suggestion would be to allow customers to earn points for purchases at both locations. Right now the computer systems between the two are not linked.
This is a cute little store! They have lots of novelty games, toys, and hands on projects! If you are looking for something different I would recommend you stop here.
Very dissatisfied. I have been going here for the last year. In that year I have spent over 700$ in RC cars and around another 500$ in parts. I bought a brand new slash and the motor quit working 4 days after I bought it. I took it apart and took the motor back for a replacement warrenty. Ron was working whom has been someone who sold me many parts. He told me I was trying to rip them off and that the motor I brought in was 4years old not 4 days. I live in fort Collins but drive the 45 miles to there store instead of the 10 miles to the fort Collins store because they guys in Cheyenne have been good to me. He told me I needed to bring the car in and my receipt because he didnt believe me and I was ripping them off. I told him where I live and why I chose to make the drive here and that my account info is in his computer. He would not even look up my name in the computer. I have never been treated so rude by some one who I spend lots of money with. I will be making the 45 Mile drive with the car and the receipt and the original box and all the paper work. And will expect a new motor that day or 100% money back on this product followed by an email to hobby town headquarters. This is absolutely uncalled for. Tomorrow will be my last visit here.
Great selection knowledgable staff great customer service and friendly
Always great. Been shopping at this store for many years. Thinking on a new SC Truck 😁
Extremely helpful, pretty good prices and a friendly place. Go get some cool quads, planes or RC cars to play with and youll be glad you did
This has to be the smallest Hobby Town in the nation. That being said, it does try to cover all the bases. Just be prepared not to find any parts other than for Traxxas most popular vehicles on the rc car/truck side. Not sure about airplanes, quads, on the model railroad section. Employee/owner, did at least check to make sure he didnt have the part for my Arrma branded vehicle.
Good selection of hobby terrain and model paint. Also have hard to find books and magazines!
Awesome Warhammer selection! Wish they had more Magic the Gathering items, but the Warhammer miniatures make up for it
Theyre always super helpful.
Nice salesman. Good selection
Great selection, cheaper warhammer 40k then most shops, and helpfull staff.
Great store. They seem to always have what I want or are very willing to get it for me in a very short amount of time. The employees are very knowledgable and friendly. I love this store and wouldnt get my hobby supplies anywhere else.
Train stuff. Model building supplies. RC toys.
They sold a boat to my son in law and we live 3 hours away from their right out of the box the battery and charger did not work called the manager and i witnessed him saying he would ship a replacement one week later called again again the manager said he would get it shipped out another week gone and nothing called again and they stated it is not their issue and would not resolve the issue ... do not buy from hear they are rip off
The service was great. The staff knew what they were talking about and the products that they sold.It was a great experience shopping with them.
Employees are very helpful try to go above and beyond make sure any questions and orders are filled
This is one of the best stores for toys and hobby supplies I have been in. Glad they are not closing or movingGREAT STORY!!
Great selection! Friendly staff
I bought a quad copter from these guys for my son. His little brother messed with the controls before he could play with it causing it to fly into walls and burn up an engine. I took it in and they reset the controls and replaced the engine for around 10 dollars. They service what the sell and they are good at what they do.
I am wanting to get into drones. I walked in and there were 3 people behind the counter and 1 customer, I wasnt even greeted when I walked in. I walked around and looked and was never asked if I needed help. If I looked towards them they would look away as if they didnt want to help. I finally got tired of trying to figure the products out on my own so I walked out. On my exit they said have a nice day! Wow really? I guess they are doing just fine without my money.
Nice store. The clerk was very helpful.
Great staff but feel like the operating hours could be changed to open earlier especially during the holiday season
I have bought several items there and I have been very happy with them, The store is one of my favorites and everyone treats me great
Wasnt really my place.
Poor customer service. I dont use Hobbytown anymore, we have the internet now.
Cool stuff, but it cost alot wish they had a trade in program
Some of the people there are nice but Tim is a rude jerk they never have any of the parts im looking for
Great place, great helpful employees!
Great people here they helped me with getting my nitro car fixed and ready to run
Knowlegable staff. Good selection.
Fair prices good knowledgeable help
Helpful staff with a decent selection and comparable prices.
I love Hobby Town in Cheyenne! Great stock and friendly staff!
Friendly staff, competitive prices
Very helpful friendly staff.
Knowledgable and friendly staff, quick service, great prices.
Knowledgeable about all the toys and willing to explain even if you are not buying. I did buy from them eventually and had then ship it to me.
The guys at the Cheyenne store are very friendly and knowledgeable. A pleasure to do business with!
I was invited via an email to write this review so here you go HobbyTown just remember you asked for it. The good: HobbyTown Cheyenne is a decent store with a fairly friendly and somewhat knowledgeable staff. They are very helpful and great at honoring coupons even if theyre expired by a few days. They have an adequate supply and selection of paints, tools, batteries, glues, model/rocket kits and hobby supplies. The bad: For radio controlled enthusiasts, they are lacking. The aircraft seem to all be RTF(Ready To Fly) and largely of the Styrofoam variations. I have found little to no quality wood kits and/or RTFs/AlmostRTFs. For surface vehicles, there are a good selection of boats given the immediate demographic area Cheyenne is located. However, cars and trucks are stacked in piles of RTR, entry-level smorgasbord. Replacement parts for such vehicles are readily available, which is great. But it seems like their main goal is to introduce new people to the hobby(backyard bashing only) and keep them supplied with lower quality versions of RC. As a veteran of the entire hobby scene of 30+ years, I see nothing(besides Traxxas) that piques my interest. Which brings me to.....The really bad: Cheyenne and the surrounding area has quite the lively racing community and(outside of the Traxxas Slash, Stampede and Rustler) I have not seen Dromida, ECX, or any of the other entry-level brands at our tracks. They do not stock Associated, Losi, Tekno, Kyosho, Tamiya or any other brands of race vehicles and/or parts stocked or mentioned in the store.Their wheels, tires, ESC, motors, bodies and aftermarket racing parts selection are severely lacking. I believe they could have a small fortune of luck by stocking popular tires and wheels(regular consumables). It would appear that they are not too interested in serving a very lucrative racing crowd. Of course they can order.....but so can we. People will pay a little extra for service and parts if its already available. When you have to order something, then it becomes a pricing game. Because you might as well wait for whatever is cheaper. This is not just my opinion....but its been talk amongst others frequently. There it is .....you wanted my opinion....you got it.
The manager Joe and his 2nd in command Steve, always go above and beyond to get parts in for me.Thankful we have an rc hobby store in Cheyenne. I make an extra effort to buy locally if at all possible. Thanks,WyomingOutdoors Gary
Very helpful and professional will visit again!
This is a great hobby store with tons of variety. Lots of RC car stuff and models etc
Super helpful, very friendly!
That they keep in touch with you when you order things from them
Its my favorite type of toy store
Got good info on products for the kids, thanks
The ambience is great. Staff are friendly.
Why not hire employees noligable in RC equipment? Def puts ppl trying to get into the hobby out to fend for themselves. Theyll just try to sell you whatever
Awsome staff
Great place to go
They always have most everything I need and if they dont its ordered and in quickly.
Good selection, however overpriced typical HobbyTown
They fixed my car and got it back bolts were missing and stripped and found a broken half bolt screw in
