On our way from Chicago to a long weekend in Michigan we stopped for lunch. Super clean, friendly staff and cute decor and vibe. Classic diner food with some fun. Poblano soup was absolutely delicious. Wished we would have been there on a Sunday morning for breakfast. Good kids menu.

My very favorite go to breakfast restaurant....nothing fancy but a great 50s breakfast and lunch diner....friendly and so good and reasonably priced...Biscuits and gravy are amazing...just like my grandma made, the blueberry pancakes are to die for and if you order ham, the portion of ham is so large it comes on its own plate. I have never had lunch here but my son has and said what he got was very good as well....
Wonderful restaurant. Staff were friendly, food was delicious, had kid-friendly options. Will come back next time were in town.

Pot Roast Omelette is 2nd to none. Tender, tasty, charred with omlette. Interior harkens to the 50s: lunch counter, neon, pictures, really cool joint!

Good little place for breakfast
The staff was super friendly, and my food came out very quickly and hot. However I ordered feta cheese and I definitely got blue cheese in my omelette which I personally think it’s pretty gross. Just trying to support small businesses and this is my first and last time going there since high school.
Its CLOSED DOWN SINCE COVIDI used lot to park and pick up food at OCTAVE GRILL!
Food is delicious but every time I call, they don’t answer the phone. It’s frustrating. They’re recording says they’re open, but nobody picks up. I’ve also heard around that they open and close when they feel like it.
Best Diner in NWI period! Was worried when covid hit that it would effect them but with the new food truck you bet they are still turning out great food for the community! Go Northside diner!

Lived in town for 2 years, but tried their food truck for the first time recently. Blown away! Buffalo chicken grilled cheese was awesome! Been craving it ever since.
For $30 this is the highest quality and biggest breakfast Ive ever had. For people that live in NWI Northside dinner puts all other breakfast places to shame.
Northside diner is one of the best restaurants in Chesterton. I come here at least once a month! There are so many options for breakfast and lunch and the food is always cooked perfectly. And the coffee is some of the best in town. To top it all off the owner is one of the nicest woman Ive ever met! She is so friendly and loves to meet her costumers. This place is a must if you havent gone yet!!

The menu portrayed this as a fun dinner and I wasnt disappointed. The menu displays four pages of creative breakfast options...I mean how many ways can you present eggs?In the end I ordered homemade lentil soup and Dutch apple pie. The soup was amazing and the not too sweet pie chocked full of apples. My husband ordered classic open faced pot roast sandwich with fresh mashed potatoes that arrived with a nice portion of real gravy. His coconut cream pie was equally attractive and delicious.Now I must return for breakfast...
Looking for a small town diner? This is the place! Food is served quickly and efficiently and my coffee is always full! Plus, Ive met some pretty unique individuals during a couple of my visits. Never a dull experience! Highly recommend.
Service was great. The atmosphere was like the old 50s diners. But the food was even more amazing. The price was very affordable. We will definitely be back. Highly recommended. Just like the good old days.
It’s very hard to find a good old school dinner. I’m a restaurant chain hater. As I walked in the atmosphere was dreamy old photos of Elvis, John Wayne, and the Beatles on the walls. Waylon Jennings on the kitchen stereo and the staff was very intuitive coffee full at all times friendly and helpful I loved this restaurant and hope I can revisit in the future

Everyone was super super friendly. The diner is small but quaint and a huge blast to the past. The food was absolutely fantastic. Its also right next to the train tracks, meaning trains go by are least every 10 minutes which I personally love and so did my niece.
I hate writing bad reviews but this place was sub par at best. We got in and seated fairly quickly even though it was getting busy but we waited a really long time for our food. We watched 3-4 tables get their food before us and we had ordered before they even sat down. We also ordered from the “Chicks” portion of the menu that said was supposed to come with toast and potatoes. We later found out our orders didn’t come with those things but that should be specified on the menu. It’s really confusing. The pancake was huge but was kind of doughy. We then waited a really long time for our bill. Overall highly disappointed after reading such good reviews before coming here.

Breakfast was tasty. I ordered the eggs Benedict w/hash browns & hubby had eggs w/tater tots & breakfast burger. Both satisfied with the taste, prep & service. Been there before & well be back again.

Northside Diner is a welcoming place. Personally, my sisters and I have made many fond memories there which have brought us close together. The menu is not overwhelming while not being limited, and provides simple descriptions for their wonderful food. The workers are of great kindness which helps create the home-like atmosphere and a good time.
Great little breakfast and lunch spot! Friendly service, great atmosphere, perfect little diner! It can get really busy on Saturdays and Sundays but totally worth the wait. Their biscuits and gravy are the best in the area!!! If you are in the area or just traveling the highways and looking for a great local diner, stop in...you will not be disappointed!!!
My family and I have gone to Northside Diner for years and this time the service was the worst I have ever experienced. It is sad when a small town diner goes downhill.

We try to go here every Saturday for breakfast, they know us by face and beverage order. Cups of coffee are never empty, service is prompt and attention to detail is amazing. Always clean and well stocked. Service staff are friendly, willing to chat and make sure your visit is pleasant. They all dressed up for Halloween the last time we were there and my whole family loved it.
First time customer. Met our son there to celebrate his birthday. Great food. Outstanding service. We plan to go back.

My husband and I ate a late breakfast here on our weekend away. Well be back tomorrow morning as well! Loved the small diner atmosphere and classic perfectly prepared breakfast. My husband got the stacked chicks, and I got chicken and waffels. Great prices and great portions. Wish there was one closer to us!
Classic diner feel, friendly staff, and generally short wait times. The nearby train tracks add to the atmosphere, in my opinion. Clever names for the menu items and a mural outside also contribute to the cool diner experience.

We had never been there before and were pleasantly surprised. The food was good, waitress was polite and on the ball. The prices were decent too. We will definitely go there again.
Great breakfast!! We havent tried anything else on the menu but looks grea! One thing they should offer is flavored coffee creams. It would get my extra star.
The food was delicous and the atmosphere was a cozy throwback with pictures of celebrities across the walls. To top it off, the owner came up and gave each of my kids a quarter for the gumball machine.

Do NOT judge this place by the small, somewhat lackluster exterior, as inside is a gem. The food is excellent (we had breakfast), and service was top notch. The interior atmosphere of a 50s Diner is done very well. Best breakfast Ive had in a long while.
Some of the food was good. Had to wait and it seemed like the waitress was the only one serving. Maybe a fluke but overall not a bad place.

Never had a bad breakfast in here. Albeit the one waitress has a wacky sense of humor but she was right there everytime my son and I drained our coffee cups. The food beats the normal Greek joints found in the area and prices are reasonable. Its fun to try and guess the celebritys names on the wall while you wait for your farm fresh eggs to make it to the table.Any asshat complaining about the staff is most likely due to the fact they they were turned away asking for a date. This diner is top notch
My son and I had breakfast here today. Overall, the service was good and a spicy omelet was ok per son.However, I ordered a separate order to go of hash browns. The portion cost $2 and consisted of approximately 6-8 bites. It felt light and looked especially sparse.Our waitress listened to my complaint, went to talk to owner, and returned. Responded by saying the owner did not care to address situation and we had received the designated portion size.Just do not understand why an owner would not offer to take charge off bill or adjust anything over what is probably 5-10 cents worth of hash browns.Ive eaten here several times, but this disappointed, so do not know if or when well be back!!!

It was very busy and you had to stand and wait awhile before being able to seat yourself. Besides this it was an excellent experience with very friendly staff who are always tentative to your needs. Will be returning.

I came here when I was staying at Indiana Dunes State Park. I had visited Chicago, but this restaurant was the most memorable the whole time I was there. Everything I had was amazing. Absolutely recommend.

Once was a great place! The owner doesnt seem to care about this buisness and it shows. Food has gone down hill along with most of the service! Hannah is the only friendly server now. Havent been here in 5 months because of it.
