The mechanics at this shop are good hearted honest people. I ended up with a flat tire right in front of this shop, 8 months pregnant with my 3 year old with me in the rain. They took my car back, repaired my tire and sent me on my way without charging me a dime. It might be the hormones but it truly brought a tear to my eye. It’s amazing to be reminded that there are good people in this world! I will absolutely be bringing my vehicle here when I need any work done!

Hear from a friend that they do a great job and at a very reasonable rate.HE WAS ABSOLUTELY CORRECT.I had multiple issues and all were repaired.My biggest complement is that they answered all my concerns with utmost honesty..and not just one person but all that I spoke too over the last month.

I brought in my car that wouldnt start, and they diagnosed it as a battery problem, even though it was a very busy Saturday. Because they couldnt fix the problem, they charged the battery and gave me a reference to a place to buy a new battery. They then sent me on my way without charging me a dime!Great helpful attitude from everyone there!

I had a nail in my tire and took it here to get it patched. They did it for me without an appointment and I was out within 20 minutes. They were extremely friendly and did an excellent job. They didnt even charge me for it. This is fantastic local-owned business and I highly recommend their services.

Im not sure who the repairman was but you from the bottom of my heart. For fixing the fix tire on my rental vehicle for FREE.... It wasnt that I couldnt pay, but it just almost brought me to tears. *Ive updated my original review and added back a star after receiving multiple replies from the shop, but I dont think top customer service should only begin after a negative review is made public. I appreciated the direct follow-up I received today but I was waiting for that call for the past two weeks. The owners seem remorseful and have insisted they can do better when communicating with customers in the future, for what its worth.Our frustrating experience can generally be summarized as a misunderstanding about a credit card fee and the shops lack of communication about this perceived billing discrepancy: After paying and picking up vehicle I left an after-hours voicemail/callback # - didnt get a return call. I called the following day - was disconnected x3. I can give the guys the benefit of the doubt that I wasnt being outright ignored (it felt like it at the time), but I at least expected that they would get back to me. Mainly, I didnt understand that they bill the customer their credit card fees - which is OK, but not if its a surprise. I was shown (after the fact) that they have a small sticker stating the 3.99% fee is billed to every customer, but that was not made clear to me and not stated on the invoice (i.e. I signed my receipt for a different amount than what was billed).I dont think the owners/employees of Hometown aim to confuse or ignore their customers, but our experiences makes them seem sloppy, to say the least.We were also frustrated by service taking longer than originally stated, which we can generally understand and forgive, but it was made worse by a lack of communicating that service delay until minutes before close of business on the day we expected to pickup our vehicle. Again, the failure here - and certainly a pattern - is poor communication. Our starter appears to have been fixed though, which is nice.

This place was awesome! Was a simple fuse repair but all the other shops were giving me the run around. I am thankful he fixed my car and will go here if I need any other repairs in the future. Keep up the good work man and I really appreciate what you did for me !!!

I was on the interstate on a 5 1/2 trip from Michigan to central Illinois. A engine light suddenly appeared and my car was not driving properly. I called Hometown Auto around 2:00 on Saturday. I explained my situation and Chris said come over hed take a look at it (even though he wasnt taking any more service jobs for the day). He took the car right in, diagnosed the problem and I was back on the road a short time later. I had no issues the rest of my drive. He went beyond my expectations, was professional and knowledgeable. Thank so much for checking my car. Hometown Auto Repair is a trustworthy company.

This very kind young man, Matt, took the time out of his day to loosen the bolts of my back seats so I could remove them. I didnt have the tools, so he just did it for me.

Me, my girlfriend and our 5 kids were stranded at the repair shop and the workers made sure we had full access to their waiting room, TV, air conditioning (hot day), food & drinks, and air fans to make sure we were comfortable the few hours we had to wait.They made sure they found the part and was ordered & sent to the shop within the last couple hours of operation for us.Good folks.

Awesome place to go if you have any issues with your vehicle . Amazing customer service, very honest people! I had doubts about my tensioner on my Mazda 3 was making noises on periods mostly on cold mornings, was hard to say but they got it right it was starting to loose .

I give Hometown Auto Repair my highest recommendation. We limped in off the highway with car trouble on a Saturday afternoon. We were two hours in to a 15-hour road trip with our dogs. When we pulled up, Chris immediately went to work diagnosing and fixing the problem. He figured out quickly that it was a failed repair from our local shop, fixed it, put our car back together, and had us back on the road within an hour. Chris not only was skilled in fixing our car, but he cared about getting us back on the road quickly and safely because he knew we were in the middle of a long trip. If you live in this area, you are fortunate to have such a skilled and trustworthy shop nearby. We are incredibly grateful that Chris was there when we needed him!

Brought my old car in which needed its check engine light fixed. They called and let me know I needed catalytic converters and a new trans for trans codes and my car wasn’t worth that much in repairs. I came to get my car back and after a couple days of my car being there too he said he wasn’t even worried about the 80$ they would charge and waved it, who does that? P.S. my girlfriend has taken her car here too and she had her car back the same day and was surprised the price was so cheap.

These folks are life savers. We were on our way back from the dunes when, after a pit stop, our CR-V started sputtering and capped out at about 18mph. I limped the car down the road to Hometown Auto Repair, where Chris greeted me and I explained the problem as best I could. It was nearing the end of the day, but they were more than willing to help me out.Myself and my ~8 months pregnant wife had been out in the sun all day and would have done just about anything to get back to Chicago. Chris identified the problem, explained it to me, ordered the replacement part, and had it installed faster than I could have possibly imagined. The cost was far lower than I expected, and they even offered a baby gift discount!Cant say enough good things about yall. Top notch all around -- highly recommend.

These guys are HEROS. I was driving cross country from Texas to Michigan for school when my battery light came on around 1 am and I realized my alternator was giving out. I called Hometown Auto in the morning and they got me in almost immediately ON A SATURDAY, replaced my alternator, and got me back on the road to finish my trip. I googled estimates on the cost before I took my car in and they charged me less than the minimum estimate I saw. They were also super nice and respectful which I find is hard to come by as a woman. GO HERE. Professional, friendly, well priced, wonderful!

Ive been coming to this place for years, ive brought several cars here in that time, they are my absolute go to for any automotive repair.This is a place where they will tell you the absolute truth and price it reasonably. Nobody here is faking an oil leak, nobody is trying to upsell you on stuff you dont need. This place is chock full of absolute professionals who know what theyre doing and know how to keep their customers happy.Im not a wealthy man, and for me, knowing im gonna be paying a fair amount for professionally done work is very valuable. When my starter died they had it done the next day, with no appointment, for $384 installed.They took my buick when it died, they did dozens of repairs on my durango, and now theyre taking care of everything my impala needs.

Local shop with honest guys and fair prices. They tell you beforehand what the issue is before just fixing something and then charging you for it. Highly recommend.

My son and his friend had a flat tire nearby. They decided to stop by, even though the shop was closed for the night. The guys at the shop said no problem and went out if their way for them, big time. They ordered a plug kit from the parts store, had it delivered in 10 minutes, repaired it for them, and this wasnt even a service they offer. Wonderful people. Trust is so rare and these guys are the good ones.
