Generous portions too! Best Bulgarian natural feta & other chesses, delicious grape brandy, cured meats, decadent cakes & pastries, real espresso, too much to mention!Atmosphere is indulgingly relaxed, family run, easy going, kind personal service! A gem for the STL area! You will try & love so many new products!
Friendly staff. Good food. I got my wife to try this place as an alternative to Turkish and Lebanese food we like. It’s a bit different but there’s some overlap with both those and Greek food. I think you may find you like it better than any places we have locally that serve Mediterranean food.
One of our favorite places to eat. Everything is fresh, portions are good and tastes amazing. Everyone in there is super friendly and welcoming. Lots of great stuff in the grocery. Slowly trying that too. Highly recommend.
Everything we ordered was fresh and delicious. The owners were friendly and helpful with selecting products we wanted to try from the grocery section. Great experience!
Stopped in St Louis for a night. Decided to try this shop/restaurant. Glad we did. The man working there was so friendly and the food is so good! The side salad was so big my wife couldnt eat her panini so she has plenty of food for later! The ajvar dip (comes with the beef) was wonderful. The store was very interesting and nice prices. Had never tried Bulgarian food and we werent disappointed. Thanks for the great experience!
I have been here for the bakery items and they were excellent so I gave the gyro a try and I highly recommend it.
Cute little market that just might not know that is there, but you need to check out. Plenty of groceries from across world will fill that gap in cuisine you miss in the Big box stores. Candy sauces wines perogies. Also, baked goods gyros, etc a full menu to order from. Did I mention great prices?!!! A little bit of a communication barrier, but part of the charm, and she puts the effort in to answer the questions anyway. 📢Hidden Gem. 💎
Best chicken soup in St. Louis. You must try their bakery and pastries (fig mascarpone cake is delicios). Nice selection of Eastern European food
Best espresso in Creve Coeur/Olive Blvd area. Cannoli is really good, too.
It’s a nice restaurant / grocery / bakery. Small areas to eat some eastern European varieties of foods both in and outside, quick and inexpensive. Don’t let that fool you. It’s fantastic food. I’ve never had better cake. Ever.
The Gyro plate is delicious and large portions served with fresh cut fries.
This place is amazing!!! The customer service is very friendly and they took care of all my needs. Super friendly staff with professional food. My new favorite!!!!
Seriously-best bakery Ive ever eaten at. Warms your heart and warms your soul. If you have an opportunity and looking for a snack or some awesome coffee, this is the place
Lovely little store and bakery! Very homely and family environment. Friendly staff and owners! Would recommend to anyone living in the area or even stopping by in town!
Was passing through on a road trip and happened to be in the area of this wonderful place my friend told me about. Told me it was a wonderful place. Definitely worth the visit.
A nice store that also has a cafe and bakery. All the food was delicious. Excellent Coffee and the Blueberry mascarpone cake was fantastic. I will be back.
Very fresh salad.....Greek Salad dressing was AWESOME.
The best Bulgarian gyros you can ever have must visit restaurant great service great amount of food everything taste great will be back soon
Food was outstanding service was amazing as well I recommend eating here great people and most importantly great food.
Friendly employees as well as very good mediterranean food! All around go to again and recommended for all
Food was so good ❤❤❤ The Veggie Gyro was amazing and we got to try a dessert and drinks that we never had before. Trying new foods that are Europe based made it a fun little outing.
They have big portions and the food is amazing, can’t wait to come back!
Have to stop here every time I’m in town, best bakery around!!
I dont know about the rest of the menu but the soup, and ćevapi were horrendous... Im not sure what happened, but this isnt what ćevapi taste like. Mine were very rubbery almost little to no flavor. Best thing about ćevapi were the grille marks... The crispy filo wasnt crispy at all but it tasted... Edible. Cake was pretty good but definitely not what I expected. I think I either got a bad meal for whatever reason or they just dont have the recipe down at least for one of the main traditional dishes of Balkan...There are far better restaurant choices when it comes to ćevapi.
All of the food was top notch and will definitely be shopping here regularly! Make sure to get a slice of cake!
Bought an frozen apple dessert there 8.99 when it got home I opened it to put in oven and it was covered in mold. Not happy with this place and products. No.stars for you is what I would like to give you.
Guys, their gyros is world champion! This is our first favorite place to eat out nearby! Also, buying European groceries here is the best, so 10 points out of 5!
The best expressos around, swing in to see what I’m talking about!!
Amazing Gyro! This will be a regular lunch spot! Highly recommended.
Pita is not very good. Eggplant sandwich is not a good value. Maybe three slices of eggplant, and 2 tbsp of roasted peppers for $10. Will not go back again
Everything I’ve gotten from here has been excellent! Always go above and beyond in customer service.
Delicious food & generous amounts! Loved the bakery & packaged items we got as well. 😋 Will definitely be coming back!!
Lady at the counter, you need to wear gloves while dishing out cake for take out.
Very friendly owners. Authentic European food and snacks at decent price
Tasty Gyros and European food market
Place is amazing would highly recommend to anyone.
Fresh food ever. Check them out please
Went in tonight and the owner was really nice and helpful with suggestions. I knew the entrees I wanted (Bosnian Cavapi and the Greek gyro with Bulgarian fried cheese) but was looking for recommendatuon of drinks and dessert.Got an awesome suggestion for blueberry and fig (!) marscapone. I love figs and that cake was amazing. Dont get me wrong the blueberry was good too but oh my goodness that fig cake.He also recommended a pear lemonade from Georgia (Country not State) that had a good flavor. My wife wasnt a huge fan but I enjoyed it a lot.Ok so that was my order and I wholeheartedly can recommend it all. That said they had so many tasty options for packaged food and food for preparation. I think I counted 6 or 7 types of frozen perogies and so many meats and cheeses. I could legitimately make a week or two of meals here and be quite happy. So much selection of new things to try.Last note, if you are a beer drinker there are so many Eastern European beers here. Untappd users, there are a couple badges easy on the shelves.TL;DR - Great good with generous portions and an excellent selection of items in the market. All with friendly and helpful service.
Very nice cafe and grocery. The food looks great, the staff are friendly and seem to really enjoy their work. TONS of Eastern European chocolate available, as well as spirits and meats.
My word, when I say 5 stars, it is so much more. A date and I went here for coffee in the morning, perfectly well crafted. The staff are just wonderful, I wish I could give 10 stars and definitely plan on going back. 👌🏻
Truly nice little store with mostly Bulgarian food and drink items. Selection of cheeses, smoked meats, sweets (including regional pastry and cakes), and liquors and wines. All in all, convenient, decently priced products from Bulgaria, and some surrounding areas, Romania, Croatia, and Serbia, from a quick look around.
Big disappointing, Ordered turkey panini with salad on side for 9.99$ . Go turkey sandwich, just simple white bread with turkey slice and cheese, mayonnaise and tomato.the same what I can make at home, salad on side was a lot of lettuce with one black olive and some cheese. First any sandwiches or panini do not cost 10$ but I was so excited wit pic and was waiting for some really unusual, when I opened my meal, just turkey sandwich on white bread. Serious? If you guys make a pic and put panini bread on pic. Thats mean bread should be special and turkey 100% not just from Aldi sliced turkey, or make in menu it like turkey sliced sandwich with cut lettuce on side.I support all small businesses and also immigrants but you cant cheat with food and make price up thats not justice because we are working hard too for buy some tasty for family.i will delete my bad review if you guys will change the price or picture, just let respect each other .
The cake here is AMAZING! Try a slice of each. Also wonderful, fresh baked bread. A small market with authentic Eastern Europe foods. Check it out.
Balkan Store and Bakery has absolutely wonderful classical European desserts, like mascarpone, profiteroles, pain au chocolate, baklava, cannoli, and a full salad, sandwich, and entree menu with many specialty dishes from Bulgaria and Bosnia.Bulgarian fried cheese, potato cakes, karnache sausage, cevap, kabobs, kufte, coiled garlic sausage, all are delicious and authentic. They also have a great grocery section where you can stock your pantry with Eastern European staples, such as sprats, pickled mushrooms, advar, smoked fish, Bulgarian feta, labanye, halva, black rye, pita, dolma, eggplant salad, and olives.I highly recommend it for lunch or dinner, the owner is a wonderful host, and they do a great job with takeout and curbside!
What a great place! My son and I dropped in for lunch today. The salad and soup we had were terrific. We were treated to complimentary chocolate and incredibly delicious cake. So thoughtful! Definitely want to go back and try the baklava and other bakery items!
Do yourself a HUGE favor and have lunch at this place. The food is delicious, the atmosphere is cozy and the staff is sweet. The deserts alone are worth the trip. They also have a lot of groceries that remind me of home. We love it here.
I like this store. The liquor is almost always cheaper here than any other store. The staff is helpful too.
What I liked? I liked everything is fresh if it about meals and desserts, so, they are deserve to be famous, especially theirs dessert so good and not too much sugar.
The Best Gyro in town !
Be in this store is like to travel through Europe with final destination Bulgaria. Many, many choices of good quality food. Also dont forget to buy the baking goods sweet or salty. Friendly owners, clean store... cant wait when they will have full kitchen open. Love, love this store👍
Pretty neat place. Enjoyed my first lunch today! Plan to head back soon and try some different options... Plus take home some food from their freezer to try at home.
This is one of the most delicious hidden gems of St. Louis, a wonderful Cafe and store with Eastern European products. Amazing collection of Bulgarian wines and Brandys, Russian caviar, Balkan cold cuts and cheeses, excellent teas and sweets, and even cosmetics. The kitchen was just open with out-of-this-world salads, sandwiches and bakery goods! Keep up the good work! Ill also post a photo of the home-made chocolate - better than Swiss chocolate!
We stopped by here on a whim this weekend, totally random, by chance and Im so happy we did!! From the outside, its just a small space you may not notice next to subway...but OMG, this place is AMAZING.First, I have to say, the staff are so nice and give the place a warm family feel. Theres a super cute mom n pop grocery inside with some fun imported items (Bulgarian I believe) and a restuarant operated from the back. It felt very laid back and comfortable. We decided to eat outside and were soon greeted by several cheery, welcoming people. Most importantly, the food...is so delicious. I cannot overstate to you just how DELICIOUS their food is.Literally every single thing we ordered was SO FREAKING GOOD. (And coke in glass bottles!!)We got a banitsa which is a delicate phyllo shelled roll stuffed with cheese, plenty to share and obviously made with love. Husband got a chicken panini and fries, cooked in coconut oil (yum!!) And I had the best darn grilled beef kebabs (cavapi) on a warm pita with grilled onion and some fire roasted tomato sauce on the side. I have no words to describe to you how good this was. Im craving it again right now. Finally, we tried the house made ice cream desserts. Im pretty sure everything is made from scratch. We had a caramel and a strawberry dessert which felt somewhat like pie, so good.Ive never had a meal at a restaurant where I could find no fault, until now. This place is a gem.It deserves way more attention than its gotten. We are absolutely going back soon and bringing friends.
The best store for Balkans food. Nice persons. Good food and kitchen. I love it. You can found almost everything for yours needs.
Great family owned business, great prices and fresh product. I will go back.
This place is great, theres so much packed into this little sore! The owner and his brother are very receptive to your needs. My kids love the corn Puffs they have did you get a free toy with. And if you like coffee their expresso shots are the best coffee Ive ever had!
Great food and place :)
Best Bulgarian/Russian grocery store and bakery! They make the best treats with some amazing coffee to go along with it. Definitely try them out for some amazing treats!
Really enjoyed this store! The owner was super friendly and showed me popular, authentic products from Bulgaria. If youre Bulgarian I would recommend this place and if youre not Bulgarian I would highly recommend it! It was a fun and delicious cultural experience
This stretch of Olive continues to offer a nice array of international food options. The grocery store offers a nice selection of canned goods, salamis & cured meats, baked goods. Kitchen offers a nice array of soups, salads pannis etc, dine in or take out Waited less than 10 mins for takeout. Fries are made fresh & are outstanding.
Grade place, variety of food Mediterranean style and excellent service
I stopped by this delightful place out of curiosity and that was like a trip to the Balkans. A man sitting by the door as I entered introduced himself and explained the set up of the store and said he would be available if I had questions. He pointed out items and his descriptions were very helpful. Their small refrigerated section held a variety of interesting items from Bulgarian yogurt made in St. Louis Mo to handmade Baklava, frozen meats and much more. I purchased fresh rye bread that was some of the best rye bread Ive eaten. For those with a sweet tooth, there was Halvah, many kinds of cookies and some candies. A small collection of wines and other drinks lined part of one wall. Fresh coffee was offered for coffee drinkers. There are a few tables which make it a great place to read the paper a drink a cup of coffee. I will be going back.
Great place if you want to try some authentic food from the Balkans. The staff is very friendly and open to questions if you are not familiar with the products they offer. MUST TRY are all the fresh products from their bakery.
Great food!
I ordered kebabs and got 10 pieces of charcoal. It was so burnt and tough that it was impossible to eat. bypass this place
Love everything about this place!!
The pastries are amazing! If you would like a little taste of comfortable Balkan culture this is your place. Sit down and have a coffee and read one of the free book exchange books. Feel like you are in another country with the comforts of speaking the language lol.

I enjoy everything about this store. My favorite lavazza coffee, decor, children books in Bulgarian and Russian, european modern music in their playlist, Russian/Ukrainian produce and especially their delisious home made pastries and desserts. Not to mention their friendly personnel.
Great little grocery store. Theres not much on the dine-in menu yet, but it looks like theyre gearing up to be a nice little coffee shop.
