We purchased counter tops between Trend and Lowes. The countertops were the wrong size and the whole time trying to resolve this issue has been a blame game between Trend and Lowes. Trend even sent their own rep to measure one piece and it did not fit. Professionalism, accountability and responsibility are not traits of either Trend or Lowes. I will NEVER recommend nor purchase any other products from here. By the way, this has been an ongoing issue from now, April since last Oct. Customer Service does not exist with either of these companies.
Lowering the rating because its been 4 months and neither Home Depot nor Trend have tried to resolve this issue. While it bothers me to write the review as the owners are lovely people, I have to rate the installation experience Ive had now for my experience owning a home with two kitchens. Last year it took two installation appointments to get the simple L shaped kitchen counters correct. The first time was two men and virtually the whole day....to no avail and the counter they installed on the kitchen desk was attached with one screw; so it fell apart. That time they were here before one of my twins went to basic training; she was back from AIT before they called to schedule the return visit to complete and repair from the first visit. Unfortunately, I had already prepaid for the majority of the second kitchen and I wanted both to have the same counters. Because the carpet installation, also arranged via Home Depot, was so bad I was withholding the final payment until we were able to come to a conclusion on that issue. Trend then let me know they needed to come back out and remeasure- I guess the cabinets moved? So theres another day I had to coordinate that is be home instead of being in the office. The guy arrived and let me know that I was supposed to have my old countertops removed for him to measure. I let him know that no one told me that and if they had Id have let them know thats rather insane to plan on not having a serviceable kitchen for at least a month. So he decided hed leave and come back another time. I informed him that Im happy to make sure things are off the tops, but they would not be removed until the day before the new ones are scheduled to arrive. He agreed. So he came back and another day Im not in the office. He spent a good long time and made templates ..so one would expect accuracy. Well, that didnt happen. The longest, easiest run of counters (simple U) was cut 1 1/2 short leaving a huge gap between the wall and counter.. this was two weeks before Xmas and we already pulled and destroyed the prior counters so the gentleman was nice enough to talk to someone to give us some discount for accepting them as is and mask their error cosmetically by installing a shelf or something above the area.. knowing how long it took for them to return last year, I let them install what was available...but in the process they cut a board from the front of my sink base leaving less support for the sink. (Bends and loosens the seal around the sink) although they say its not a problem, I do and its my house and my budget that paid for this. So when they called to see how satisfied I was, I reminded of the comments I wrote in lieu of my signature of approval. They agreed to remake the large part of the counters. Mind you, there were small end pieces of backsplash that they forgot when they installed the short top- so they had to return to bring and install those. So there was another day. Now the replacement was brought out this week and.. yes, there are again issues. Its a multi colored.. and at the seam, that is now noticably uneven, and there was obviously no attempt to make sure that each end would blend from one to the other. Then after I took the time to cut and attach a board to replace the one they cut out of the sink base, they didnt bother making sure there was a piece of the counter left to support the front of the sink....dont know if you can see from the picture, but no part of the counter is touching the front of the sink base. Again the installers said thats not a problem, but I think it is. The laminate should not already be separating from the counters edge where the stove slides in.* One of my friends pointed out his curiosity that they had not calked or sealed around the top edges of the backsplash. This time the paperwork was not offered for my opportunity to inspect before they left-hand Ill give the benefit of the doubt because a neighbors girlfriend came down wanting to talk about her drama...I wanted to leave too.
I bought my tops thru Home Depot. Even tho the designer at the store messed up my order, Trend tried there hardest to fix and correct the issue. They went above and beyond what they had to in order to make sure i had a kitchen back before my wife came home from the hospital. I dont believe all the negative reviews on here. They have a team that is willing to help you no matter the cause.
Amazing Custer service
I ordered a counter top through Home Depot and I was somewhat skeptical because of a radius at one end. I picked up the counter top and did the install myself. The sink fit perfectly and the radius was a perfect match. I was very pleased with Trend Manufacturing.
Counter top did not cover cabinet on one side and they covered it up with a piece of laminate tile piece so the gap wouldnt shoe from the top of the counter, but when you looked from the side you could still see the gap. It also did not cover the top of the cabinet on the pass through to the dinning room.
Scheduling the logistics with regards to the delivery of them was really poor & so was the communication as well. I ordered the laminate countertop at Home Depot they only had a simple sink cutout for a Kohler drop in sink to do & provided the sink along w/measurements on my order. When I went to install the sink in the countertop at my home I come to find out that my sink 1/2 - 3/4 too wide around the perimeter causing my sink to only rest on 1/8 support so I am now struggling to find an effective workaround since they are installed. Support braces from under sink using 1x2s. Beware they dont seem to know what they are doing when it comes to precision cuts in formica/laminate.
Countertop quality seems good overall. However, installation and the associated craftsmanship, service and attention to detail are what I would expect from a startup business with unskilled labor. Home Depot in the St. Louis area contracts with Trend Manufacturing; buying countertops through HD results in Trend building and installing them. I recommend staying away and taking your business to a dedicated countertop shop with sales, service and installation under one ownership group.
Great company
