Had my truck towed after the battery and alternator went out and they had my truck diagnosed, running, and back to me a few hours later. Very professional and very helpful. Did not try to talk me into replacing everything under the hood like many mechanics do. Highly recommend.

I spent some time looking at reviews of other shops, so decided to take my WRX into their shop for some basic fluid changes and sparkplugs. I am very familiar with what performance parts and work the car needed. I spoke with John, who was very professional. He took the time to double check exactly what was needed, he even brought to my attention that the sparkplugs didnt need to be changed yet, instead of pushing me to get them done to make extra work for the shop. I did in fact decide to just have them changed out, but it was his honesty that speaks loud.Not only that, but he is straight forward and he has integrity. When he was on the phone to order the sparkplugs, he knew to go with a certain brand and not a cheaper brand that would have most likely created ignition issues. I knew he also was very familiar with the details of servicing vehicles from this.The pricing was really good, compared to other shops I checked in the area, not the cheapest and not the most expensive. However, the trust in knowing they serviced the vehicle properly, is worth every penny spent, because safety really has no price tag.It is often you come across a business that has professional and nice people working in it, it is (not) often that you come across a business though in which your gut tells you that you can trust them like these guys.The car was serviced promptly, he even has a pretty cool text and site tool to review and agree to the work they will be doing when you drop it off.Everything was done to a T, so if you are looking to have any work done to your vehicle, trust the small town America businesses like Chesapeake Auto & Transmission Repair over the Corporate America places. I gave 5 stars, because Google doesnt provide 6, and just to let others know that might go here. The last time I took the time to write a review for a business, was years and years ago. Where do I start?!???! On 10/4/2021, I contacted Chesapeake Auto & Transmission and advised them of the type of vehicle and the type of problems that my vehicle was displaying, so they had it towed to their shop. A store employee advised me that someone would be calling by the end of the day to update the status of my vehicle. That call never came, so I contacted them the following day, on Tuesday, 10/5/2021 and was given enough information to get me off the phone, but still not given information, such as the length that I may be without my vehicle, the possible cost, no nothing.On 10/5/2021 at approximately 1200 hours, I was contacted by the general manager, Mike, who stated that it was not the transmission but instead the TCM, and he would need $750 to conduct a procedure that is similar to open-heart surgery to figure out what was going on. I asked Mike how long before we may hear anything, and he started that he would call by Thursday, but I dont I was never contacted on Thursday.On 10/6/2021 at approximately 1600 hours, I learned via GPS that I placed in my vehicle that it was no longer at Chesapeake Auto and Transmission but was at Charles Barker Mercedes. I am still waiting to be updated on the status of my vehicle, but that call never came on Thursday.On 10/8/2021 at approximately 0900 hours, I contacted Chesapeake auto since no one attempted to call back and was advised by them that “they” were still looking at my vehicle and would call by the end of the day. Still, Im not sure if they meant them or Mercedes because they didnt even have anymore.On 10/11/2021 at 0830, I contacted the shop and asked to speak to Mike, the person who was performing the open-heart surgery, and asked why I hadnt been contacted and why my vehicle was at Charles Barker. Mike stated that he didnt have my file in front of him but would call someone to get more information. Within an hour, a store employee called and states that they would know more the following day.Meanwhile, I contacted Charles Barker, and was advised the same. On Tuesday, the 12th, an employee from Chesapeake Auto and Transmission called and stated that he finally found out what was wrong and would cost $5500.89 to repair. Immediately following that call, I called Charles Barker, who said that the repairs would cost $2000 and could be completed in a couple of days.STAY AWAY FROM THESE TYPES OF PLACES THAT TRY TO RIP PEOPLE OFF.

Our Honda Odyssey minivan’s check engine light started blinking and our engine started running rough while we were driving home to Northern Virginia from North Carolina. A quick google search indicated our engine was misfiring and we needed to pull over right away. We were stranded at a major interchange with no safe place to go, with two children and our dog. After several calls with our insurance company, where they dispatched a tow truck that could not offer us transport due to Covid, we decided to call the closest local repair shop we found via Google. Thank God we did! Mike immediately understood our situation and said he and the shop’s owners would work with us to get us safely to the shop and get us back on the road ASAP. The owners, Teresa and Paul, were beyond accommodating, allowing our family, including our dog, to camp in their waiting area while they diagnosed what was wrong, got parts, and fixed the van. They stayed beyond closing time to make sure we could get home tonight. Mike, Paul and Teresa were caring, personable, and professional. They truly went above and beyond for my family. Stranded 3 hours from home with no friends, family or acquaintances in the area, I truly feel God took care of us bringing us to Chesapeake Auto & Transmission. I recommend them without reservation.

These guys were awesome! I rolled up on Veteran’s Day without calling ahead because my car was doing some kinda something funky. They got her diagnosed and fixed up faster than I expected. Mike and Tim are so friendly and chatty too! It’s a kick watching them banter. Definitely recommend! Especially if you’re looking for a longtime mechanic. Cannot say enough great things about this place. Originally went there for engine noise. They looked over everything and decided it needed a new engine. He could have charged me thousands of dollars to replace the engine, but instead did research and called around to find out my engine was still covered under cars manufacturers warranty for the engine. He recommended I have the work done under warranty at dealership instead. He even had my vehicle towed there and set up appointment at dealership for me. The shop lost a big job and lots of money for them sending me to dealership.....but their honesty and integrity won them a client for life with me. Very honest, hard working people here. Ill definitely be back.

New to the area (military family ), checked google and found this spot . Initially told them what was going on and received what I thought at first good customer service . Needed my brakes and heating fix Car was in the shop for some days but no calls or communication. I was the one calling to check on the car for any changes or updates . After some days called and was told my car was good to go and thoroughly check . Car was blowing hot air and brakes are good . My wife was on deployment and We wanted everything squared away before she got home . After a month and some weeks and a few weather changes we decided to use the heat, no hot air !!! We drove to NC in the cold thinking the car would heat up, nothing . We did noticed squealing with the brakes on the right side but we were so focused on the heat . Recently took the car back to get the heat checked, once again had to call to check up on the car . On the third day it was discovered another issue with the heat after initially telling me they did a thorough check on the heat and it was blowing hot air .Over $900 dollars later and we are still without heatEDIT : now the car is leaking some type of oil or fluid in our driveway which NEVER was the case before . Smdh

I had a great experience coming in and getting my headlight bulbs replaced. It was done quick and professionally, as well as having a fair price. I definitely recommend taking your vehicle there if you need a repair. Very great group of guys!

Bad business!!!! I needed my steering column replaced after having my car inspected at Chesapeake Auto and Transmission. I had to call for 2 weeks to check the status of the parts arrival. The part finally came in and I was told to drop the car off the next day between 10-12, which I did. I called Wednesday at 8 am and was told to drop the car off, when I told Mike I dropped off the car yesterday, he said he had no idea the car was there, Really???? Mike said he would work me in? I called every 2 hours to check status and was told still not done. At 3 pm was guaranteed the car would be finished by close of business. Big surprise no call, no car. I called Thursday morning, Christmas Eve and was told the car would be finished by noon. Went there to pick up the car and still not done. I was told again by Mike he guaranteed the car would be finished by close of business. Again no call, no car! I went Monday at 8 am, Mike didn’t even have my paperwork. Did he even know who the car belonged to at all? I tried to call the owner, but the mailbox is full. Guess the owner really doesn’t want to hear how my experience went.

Called early on a Monday morning, I had a coolant leak. Obviously a large issue, turns out I needed a new radiator. They gave me the price, very reasonable, They got the part in that day, the next day my car was finished. These guys are great from the first call to me picking up my car!! Very happy! #gts

!!!!!!WARNING!!!!!! Do Not Bring your vehicle to Chesapeake Auto & Transmission Repair Shop in Chesapeake, 1224 Executive Blvd. They are the worst!!! I had to bring my car back there three times and they still havent gotten it right $3,000 later... I dont trust their make shift mechanics. The owner Pauls wife has a very nasty attitude and horrible customer service. I never received an update. Every time I called to get the status of my vehicle they had excuse after excuse. They had my vehicle for two months. I will never bring my vehicle there again. Please believe all of the other customers who wrote a negative review, they are telling the truth, their complaints are legit and I will be reporting them to BBB. If you can go without your car for several weeks at a time with no communication, pick it up and it still isnt right, then this is the place for you...Good Luck!!!

They are really nice mike and paul are helpful I had to replace my rear diff they got me the whole assembly and with labor it only came to 2400 and Greenbrier dodge was gonna charge me 6500 I highly recommend Chesapeake auto and trans I will be sending anyone who asks for a shop to them

They had my truck for over 3 weeks. Had to call repeatedly for updates. I understood they had a key employee get injured which caused numerous backups. I ended up taking the truck somewhere else. My experience may be an exception. The are very busy and seemed like competent and honest folks. Better communications are needed and if you are overwhelmed with work, let the customer know up front.

I have read all these great reviews on this auto shop just unfortunate that we didn’t have a great experience. I had called to schedule an appointment for my husbands car to get fixed since Carvana listed them as an auto shop to take the car to. Well first Mike was rude and impatient when I asked when what was a good time to drop off the car. It was a Monday and told me that Thursday he would look at it and when simply asking if I can drop it off that same day he told me it didn’t matter that he was still going to look at it Thursday. So I went ahead and scheduled it for Thursday morning and when we arrived Mike had told us that it’ll be a couple hours for the car to get looked at and finish up. So we leave and around 2pm we call for an update and nothing has been done. So by the time they close we go to pick up the car considering there was no update, only thing they did was move where the car was parked. And then Mike tells my husband that he had to check if they even had the parts. I get it Covid has gotten everyone constrained but to make false promises let alone show such laziness, just say you can’t take new customers. We ended up going to the dealership and right then and there problem was fixed.

Mike was sooo nice and helpful. Came in on Saturday when they were closed to help me fix my tire! Thank you!!

I recently moved to the area from out of state, and needed to find a trustworthy mechanic shop when my Subaru started having some issues. Luckily I found it! Everyone here is incredibly professional and sweet. The prices are awesome, and the speed at which they work? INSANE. They had my Subaru in and out the same day! I genuinely wasnt expecting that kind of lightening speed, but they dont play around! Now everything is running smooth as butter. Mike gave me the run around for weeks.Very unreliable and un professional.

Got a better quote from them over the phone for resurfacing the rotor and changing the break pad. I dropped the car next day and I was told that they wont re-surface the rotor but need full replacement of rotor and breaking pad and finally I confirmed an amount, he noted my credit card number as there was no power and agreed to call me before do the payment. Next day day I noticed a transaction way higher than what he agreed, they did the payment without my consent. My original car issue still there not sure what work was done, will never go this place.

After years of using a dealer for car repairs, I finally found a company that is good at repairs, has great customer service, and can actually fix your car right the first time and in a reasonable amount of time. No more wasting hours sitting around a dealership and getting charged a small fortune for basic repairs. Another good thing is they dont try to sell you a bunch of stuff you dont need just to jack up the price.

I went into this shop thinking I was going to get screwed over. I knew my transmission had been going out for a while and it finally broke. I was devastated. This was my only vehicle to get my kids to school and me to work.I called this place and I have never been so happy I did. Melissa was exceptional. She gave me options to rebuild or replace. I chose to just replace. I had called around to make sure the $2800 Melissa quoted was not far fetched (you know how some mechanic shops over charge and tack on fees). But the price here was $700-$800 less than anywhere else! She had said that there would be about a week turn around. They got my vehicle back to me in 4 days!!! I am so overjoyed that I found this place! Melissa & Mark are absolutely amazing. The customer Service was impeccable and I havent had a problem with my car since. Best Auto Shop in Virginia! I wish I could give them 10 Stars. My daughter goes to school in Virginia and had problems with her car. We dont live in the area so we werent sure where to go. She took her car here and apparently the brakes were so bad, she would have to sign a waiver to leave. The mechanic spoke to my husband and sent pictures too. The office manager, told my daughter, As a mom, I dont recommend you drive this home because the car is not safe if the brakes and the wheel are not fixed. I am so thankful they took the time to give an honest assessment AND care for a college girl who is miles away from home. Well done Auto Shop of Chesapeake.

I took my 2012 Ford Focus here for repairs on my transmission. I live in another State and had to do everything by phone. I was charged 3700.00 and they had my car for 4 months. I picked the car up and drove it for 2 days and the same thing happened. I found out (after taking the car to Priority Ford) that Chesapeake Auto had replaced the transmission with an older one that had more miles. Priority Ford did something and charged me another 735.00. The car has been sitting at Priority Ford for 3 months, I had to come here - from Colorado and rent a trailer to tow the car back!!!! After paying 4500.00 I am still without repairs and Chesapeake Auto refuses to do anything. I have reported them to BBB AND WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO AMYBODY ELSE!!!! I have tried to contact the owner Travis several times and he wont return my callS!. I told Mike the manager that I was going to file a suit in Small Claims court and he said :GO AHEAD! SO I DID!! THEY WILL BE HEARING FROM THE COURT SOON!!! I AM LOOKUNG FORWARD TO THIS DAY!!I do not recommend this place to anybody!

I came in for help with my suspension. I thought I had a caster issue and it turned out to be some adjustments on my aftermarket coilovers. Theresa helped me out tons and talked me through each step during the diagnostic. The technician was awesome and the service and whole experience was quick and efficient. Also I cant remember the mechanics name but he was very knowledgeable and advised me of other issues wrong with my vehicle that I was able to have fixed through my warranty. I brought my husbands 2018 Dodge Challenger R/T with Shaker into the dealership we bought it from for them to look at the breaks to have them inspect them because we heard a squeak. Wanted us to pay $1700 to replace all break pads and rotors. I took it here for a second opinion. Melissa helped me out, she was great, and we discovered that everything was still brand new and the car didnt need any work done at all! 10/10 would recommend. Ill be going here from now on for any problems we have with our vehicles . And they didnt charge anything to look at the car, the dealer charged me $40 to even look at it. Melissa Is wonderful. She gracefully explained all that was wrong with this car i just bought. She explained in detail what was wrong, why it was wrong, and what it would take to fix. I never felt out of the loop on anything. She let me know what was needed and what could wait. She didnt try to cram the fixes down my throat like most places do. She prioritized everything for me. Yall got a customer for life!

Great service! Called about an hour or so before I came in and they took me right away! Shout out to Melissa for great customer service!!

I have used this shop twice. First time I rated them high. This time they really messed up. Had them tow my Dodge Ram in and lost my driver side mirror in the process. They essentially ignored the question as to what happened to it. They convinced me I had a bad thermostat and pump. Paid $1200 to fix that. Then they tell me I have a blown gasket and might be able to do a liquid seal. Say it may work but offer no risks. The seal they used was sucked into my engine and destroyed everything that they did. Didnt know it until getting my truck and it immediately overheated. Took my truck elsewhere and they showed me the pump, looked like foam insulation clogged up everything. Had to replace everything, including a cracked radiator, and heating core. Went back to the shop and spoke to the lady at the desk. Owner was hunting and I left my information and account of the event. I recorded this and will be taking civil action to recoup the thousands of dollars they cost me. They have made no effort to contact me or rectify the transgression.

Took my van to a shop car masters they told me what was wrong with my van but wanted 300 dollars more then these guys to fix it so I took it to mike here they said we are alil backed up but we will get you in and out that they did well the next day my power steering pump was leaking again they showed me the old part that car masters said was the problem I didnt expect this shop to do what they did but they did he said we wanna make things right and it wasnt even they fault so my van was a 3 hour job x2 and they got me in and out again my van is doing amazing thanks so much I highly recommend this shop great guys.

The Auto Shop repaired my horn & air bag light in my 2007 Impala. The men there a nice and pleasant. They are busy, but they work hard to get the work done. I am a very happy customer.

My truck was possessed and kept dying on me at random times. I had been through literally every ignition piece on this truck before i brought it in. I was stumped. The woman at the front desk, Melissa, went out, popped the hood, started my truck, and moved the battery cable. I never even noticed it was loose. She had the mechanic in the back tighten everything & it hasnt died since. This woman is a God Send- She didnt even charge me!!! Most places would have. I think Im going to start using this place for all my cars.P.S. Melissa Is Smokin Hot. Its not everyday you find a decent mechanic shop with such a delightful woman running the show.

I am totally satisfied with this repair shop. I wont go anywhere else. They have great customer service and answered all of my million questions patiently. Thank you guys!

I towed my truck into Travis @ Auto Shop Of Chesapeake because the transmission stopped on the interstate, they replaced my transmission with a reman and had me back on the road in 2 days . To start out on a positive note, they charged less hours than most folks out there and when some issues came up how they routed some lines on the reinstall they didnt charge me the additional day they had it to reroute the lines. I went to Auto Shop of Chesapeake to get a flex plate replaced, flex plate got replaced but the reinstallation of components was done with extremely poor quality and seemingly deceiving practices. Various hose lines and fasteners were not returned to there original state, screws were not attached at all and the bolt to my catalytic converter was missing all together. i had to remove the catalytic converter to try to bend the attachment bolt tab to get it back on location, I stopped because it was over stressing the weld. But upon removal of the catalytic converter, I noticed the internal honeycomb structure was completely gutted out. I have no idea the reason behind this. The original was possibly dropped or they mistakenly installed another...Im not sure why this was not conveyed to me. Turns out the bolt couldnt be reinstalled because the catalytic converter would not fit up to its proper location. in addition, the gasket from the catalytic converter to the exhaust manifold is also missing. Also, they replaced my starter and I asked them to keep the original one, because it was still under-warranty (they couldnt find it when I picked up the vehicle). Theres a laundry list of engine performance issues resulting from this.

These people know what they are talking about, from the moment i talked to Travis on the phone i knew this was the place for me . Travis is a very straight shooter and knows his cars. I was surprised when i came in to find the he was the owner and was in the shop help working on cars !!!! Travis took a lot of time with me to show me what was wrong with my car and what we had to do to fix it . Thanks guys
