The people and the service was excellent. They did a great job with the repairs and did not add any extra or unnecessary charges and they even had a financing plan. They explained everything upfront so I knew exactly what needed to be done and how much it would cost. I am very satisfied with the entire experience. I would recommend to anyone!

Went to the AAMCO..service station this morning to get my car Inspection and I was greeted kindly and professionally. My vehicle was taken in at 8am and by 8:30 am my Inspection was Complete!!! After calling several vendors and experiencing frustration, I called AAMCO and talked with Beth, her courteous and professional manner quickly allowed me to decide on them for my choice of a repair company. I brought Walter and his team a real challenge, a 30 year old 1992 Honda prelude SI of which This car is so rare that theres only a few of them on the road period. The car had so many issues associated with it powering off while it was driving body completely rusted out underneath, issues that other mechanics n shops just didnt even want to take on. Now they can tell you that this car was no walk in the park and did we have to bring it back again yes but thats because its a 30 year old car that had multiple issues and each time any concern arised so did the level of quality and skill of the team there. Skilled technicians and very skilled team in the front office that really were able to work outside of the Box to make this happen. We canceled our business service at another location and were bringing all of our business to Walter and the team at amco here. Could not be more proud of bringing our business here to a veteran owned veteran operated business. Brothers in arms all day. You pay for quality once, you pay for cheap a 1000 times

Walked in on a Wednesday morning around 930 and asked if there was any way they could get an oil change done for me before 2pm. They explained they would try their best but werent sure it was possible with the other scheduled appointments that day. At 1215, I got a call saying my car was done. When I went to pick it up the friendly staff told me they could tell I was in a bind and pretty much begged their technicians to fit me in. Super nice and friendly people. Will definitely return!!

Been going here for many years and still have not had a bad experience, the staff is always friendly and helpful and I can say this is a place not trying to get all your money but will do the best they can to save you money. Will definitely keep doing busy here.

The improvements they made to the car are very noticeable and Im beyond pleased. David was also very meticulous at documenting every single part that went into my car, in the event that any of them need to be replaced down the line, saving me a ton of guess work (and ultimately shows he truly cares about his customers). I took my 1973 Corvette to this particular AAMCO as I was having transmission issues. The owner, Dave, assured me that it would be in great hands. The mechanic that worked on my car, Phil, was very friendly, knowledgeable, and even took me into the shop to point out where all the problems were and the recommended fixes. From my first interaction with the office specialist Beth I received nothing less than 5 star professionalism. After a horrible experience I had at another CHESAPEAKE TRANSMISSION shop this was a night and day service experience. The manager at AAMCO Dave kept me in the loop the entire process of getting my new transmission installed in my 2013 Chrysler 200. He called to let me know how the repair was going and he also returned calls when I had questions. Dave was a big help from talking to the warranty company to just being transparent about the repair. I was referred to Aamco’s Chesapeake location from 2 coworkers that raves about the service. I live in Virginia Beach but decided to drive to Chesapeake and I am so happy that I did. My check engine light has been on and I was concerned it would be very expensive. I met David and he told me they would perform a free check. He called me a few hours later, explained what was wrong and gave me a fair price to fix my car. He also made me aware of a few maintenance items that would be needed soon. But he advised me that the maintenance could wait. He provided me an estimate and even told me what order he would do these items if it was his personal car. NO ONE does this anymore. There was no pressure to buy additional work. I will be back for the maintenance that was recommended and referring friends and family to this location. It was absolutely worth the drive to get Honest service

This place is awesome. The staff is very friendly and David (store manager) went above the basic mechanic work to ensure that my vehicle was fixed. He kept me posted on the progress and work out the best option that fit my budget. If you have transmission problems and you live in the Hampton Road, VA, area you definitely need to take your vehicle to AAMCO Chesapeake. It will be done right the first time. Just another stealership. The guy that called and sent me an estimate automatically told me i need a whole transmission replacement because he didnt see any codes pop up. Estimate ended up totaling around 4500 bucks yet the truck got inspected last month. Save your time and money and go somewhere else if you got brains

I have been taking my 1995 Honda Accord (220,000 plus miles) to AAMCO Transmissions & Total Car Care for more than a year. Its my experience that David and Jim are two very knowledgeable and articulate individuals. I have always found that their diagnoses have been spot on. Their estimates have always been considerably less than anyone else that I have taken my car to and the work has ALWAYS been performed within the estimated amount. This is my first online review for anything ever but my experience was so great that I decided to take the time to share. My 06 G35 was stuck in high gear and would completely miss the lower gears when taking off from a complete stop. The solution given was explained in detail with options to price check the work that was being suggested. The team took time and explained the work being completed, showed me the workshop and work being completed. The shop is immaculate and well organized. If you have a car that means anything to you in need of repairs I would recommend going to AAMCO of Chesapeake 1st before taking you vehicle any place else. The level of professionalism and experience was worth every dime.

After calling multiple local shops I spoke to David at aamcos Chesapeake location. It was very clear that David was honest and knowledgeable. I brought my truck in for a free initial check. Quickly David informed me that the transmission issue could be fixed without removing the transmission out of the car. This saved me thousands of dollars. I waited a few weeks before posting this to ensure my issue was fixed. My truck is driving perfectly. I can not stress enough the honesty and integrity of this car shop. I will be back for all future car repairs and maintenance. They do state inspections, tires and maintenance. A+ customer service in everyday possible.

My car failed inspection and the shop that inspected it was unable to do the repair. A friend recommended we take it to AAMCO to have the repair done. This was my first experience at this shop. I was given a very thorough explanation of the problem, a quote for repairs (which they stayed within) and the car was in and out of the shop within the time frame promised. We were going out of town the same day and I was not able to get back to the original shop to have myre-inspection done. I was a little worried about driving it with the big red X sticker for the next few days. Turns out AAMCO went above and beyond and had taken care of the inspection for me as well!!! Absolutely wonderful service! I will definitely use this shop for car repairs in the future and will recommend AAMCO to my friends.

After relocating from New Jersey to Chesapeake, VA, I tried several repair shops, including the GMC Dealer, only to be greatly disappointed by service rendered. A neighbor recommended the AAMCO Car Care to me. I immediately walked in for my yearly inspection. They found several repairs that was needed. I was so please with the work my car received. Friendly, professional, through and listened to my concerns. In addition, the appearance of the office, waiting room and bathroom are all “exceptionally” clean aromatic and comfortable temperature-wise. Such a pleasure to bring my car to a place that makes me feel welcome while giving me the same service they would give to their own family. Priceless!!!

Excellent Service! Finding a car mechanic that you can trust is very difficult these days. My husband and I decided to try Dave at AAMCO, and we are very pleased! Everyone is professional and Dave really took the time to explain what repairs our vehicle needed. He went above and beyond to save us money on the parts he had to order. We referred a family member shortly after (who knew she needed tons of work done). They ended up waiving a fee for her, in exchange for the labor she had to pay, since it was her first time there. Anyone can appreciate saving money! We highly recommend this place. For once, we can drop our cars off somewhere and not feel like we are getting ripped off, or lied to. Its worth it!

I recently had the transmission rebuilt in my 2009 Murano. I am very pleased with the results so far and feel comfortable with the warranty purchased. I felt that this business was honest and personable with service delivery. When I requested to speak with the actual mechanic doing the work on my car, there was no hesitation and he carefully explained everything to me and listened to my concerns. I will definitely be a returned customer should the need arise.

Great customer service! My friend and I were there for a state inspection a few weeks ago. They were very fast. I expected it to be an all day thing but it only took a little over 2 hours. The girl at the counter, Mel, walked us though what we needed for inspectionand was great at explaining what and how sway bar links work. I never knew what those did. Now i do. We traveled down to the Chesapeake area from New Hampshire to visit our daughter and son in law. During the trip down our brakes started making a thunder-like sound. Upon our arrival we knew that we had to address the problem immediately. I researched local repair shops and Subaru dealers in the area online. The best reviews I found were for AAMCO in Chesapeake. I called and was told to bring the car right in. It turns out that all four brakes needed rotors and pads. Dave, Jim and Roy were wonderful, they even gave me a ride back to the house while they worked on the car. Great people to deal with, they explained our options and they even took time to show us the damaged pads and rotors. Cant say enough positive things about our experience. Very good peoples

I have been taking our vehicles her for years and have never been disappointed with their service or quality of work. Dave C and the girls at the desk are great ! Always a friendly hello and a smile. I have gotten to feel like I am truly known by them and are taken care of very well. Never do I feel like I am being talked over or feel stupid (as a woman in a garage might) and always have my questions answered. They try and get work done in the most timely way they can. Although I wish cost of some work was a little cheaper, I also dont necessarily feel cheated. And the quality of work has never failed me. So So happy with my buddies at Gainsborough Sq. AAMCO.

This is Idas husband Norm writing since I dont have a Google account. I have been taking my vehicles to this store since 2003, when they were a Cottman store with the highest quality rating, a Platinum store. I went to them because another shop that I had been going to completely botched a transmission flush and destroyed my transmission. I have four daughters that drive and we have had many cars serviced at AAMCO at Gainsborough Square over the years. We are now up to owning seven vehicles that are older and beyond factory warranty. They quality of their work is unsurpassed in my forty years of car ownership. If anything the quality of their work has increased over the years. They always go the extra mile and sincerely care about the customer. They can do just about anything the dealer can do, including re-flash the many computers, modules, and sensors that the modern car has. I always recommend them to anyone who is looking for a good shop.

If I could give a zero star I would. I made an appointment a week out because the person I scheduled with said that they were backed up. They suggest a Monday at 0800. I went to my appointment on time, just to walk in to be told me they were just about to call me that they are backed up. I told them that I scheduled a week out. They wanted to schedule me another 4 days later. At that point they lost me as a customer. What’s the point having a schedule then?! And why didn’t the call me sooner? I ended up finding another company (Firestone) who charged me $50 less for the same work. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone, Firestone has better customer service and prices.

If you want a place that values their customers, and takes individual pride with their high-quality services, this place is the only one you need to go to! My experience started with exceptional customer service at time of scheduling my appointment (under short notice), no excessive waiting period just to have my vehicle serviced, and all my automotive service needs were met with little wait and nothing but friendly and professional communication along the way. The business is independently owned and operated, and by far beats any experience Ive had with other corporate automotive service chains. My car was making a noise while driving. It sounded like the transmission. I had kind of expected a huge bill. Dave took me aside and explained the process of troubleshooting. He said dont worry about the transmission until he ruled a few things out. Turned out to be a $100 repair. VERY HONEST!! My husband and I drive from Virginia Beach to him now for all our car repairs, even just oil changes. Great shop. Great People.

My inspection was overdue by a couple days and after stopping at 3 different places, AAMCO was able to get me in as walk-in at 3pm. In less than 2 hours my car was inspected and ready to go. Great service, very friendly.

Had engine light up on my 05 Pilot and a google search revealed Advertising on their website for FREE Engine light checks good thru 03.18. I come here and front desk guy tells me to pay $120 upfront just to diagnose and will put it towards the final invoice if I choose to get it done here. Guy looks at me like I made up this offer myself. Perhaps hes not aware of the company advert? Perhaps false advertising?Thankfully, Tune up plus happens to be right next door and did the free check. No catch. Turns out its an oxygen sensor issue. Got it replaced. Thank you Tune up Plus!

David(Dave) is the best! Really kind and caring. He is one of those guys who if you give him your time and dont rush the guys tries to get to know you. They have affordable prices and get you in and out in a day and in my experience a couple hours. They are really knowledgeable and take time to show you or explain examples of repairs and what needs to be done to fix and prevent. They also have a decent waiting area with free wifi just ask upfront for the password. They are also very busy so get there early.Thanks Dave and the team for taking care of me!

We really like AAMCO on Gainsborough Rd and always take our cars there (as well as encouraging others to do so). They always treat us right. They dont charge us for things we dont need, and they dont find multiple things that need fixing every time we go. We feel they are very honest and capable and rarely have we had to have them do the same thing twice. We have had some bad experiences with other car places and so tend to be mistrustful of mechanics, so you can believe me when I say you can trust these guys. As long as they continue to treat us right, we intend to be loyal customers. The guys are also very good at the customer relations aspect of things. Always nice to talk to, informative, and helpful.

They did an awesome, truthful, and thorough diagnostics on my car and repaired what was wrong and was not as expensive as I thought, or as I gathered from other places. I used coupons and diagnostic was free and 10% off. They were totally willing and happy to answer my questions about how certain parts of my car that I was worried about...and the parts were fine when another place a month ago said they were bad. Quick service and very customer oriented.

Very friendly and very helpful staff! I just moved here to Chesapeake from VA Beach (I know it’s not a far move) and just got married. So I’m doing my wifey duties such as taking the cars to get state inspections and oil changes while my husband is at work. The staff here has been so friendly and helpful and I never feel intimidated even if I don’t know anything about cars. I can really tell they care about our safety. We trust them with our two vehicles.

Im a women from Michigan working on the road and my car is my office. My starter went out and Aamocos service was Excellent! Within hours of getting my car to them it was repaired at a very reasonable price. The staff was wonderful and went above and beyond!

Prior to finding him I had a quote from the Mercedes Benz service company of approximately 8k. David fixed my vehicle for a little over 3k. My car is running excellently. They are pretty much the same price as the dealerships and sometimes even more. $700 for a front-drive axle change. $3500 for a transmission rebuild on a 13 year old car?? Better off going to the dealership if price will be the same if not cheaper.Diagnostics are never really diagnostics, this is the only place that charges you extra for the hours they performed just to diagnose the car.(misleading)Chesapeake, VA 6/28/2018

After being told I needed a new transmission, one arrived the next day. Unfortunately, there were issues with it that were no fault of AAMCOs. The new transmission arrived over a week later but the guys at AAMCO acted quickly to get my vehicle done and delivered. This was a couple weeks ago as of this review and the transmission has run great. I want to be clear that the guys at AAMCO (Jim and Dave) handled things very professionally, as did the technicians that worked on the truck.

Both David & Jim are excellent service advisors. Their knowledge of understanding the customers is top notch. Recently I had a blow out on my tire and at 3:30 Friday afternoon, David arranged for a tire delivery and by noon on Saturday, I was out driving again. He went the extra step to make sure I had a positive experience. The mechanics are a bunch of really nice guys too. I travel a lot, and to know someone who can provide me a service where I dont feel like I am getting ripped off by a dealer, is the best thing one could ever have. A veteran, I want to thank them for their constant respect to me as a vets, that made a big difference with my decision to continue with their services. Thank you David, Jim, and all the guys in the shop. A job well done!

Didnt keep us informed on what was going on and had to take it back after replacing the transmission a second time the next week and they insisted they drove it without any problems then when we went to drive it all the lights came on and wouldnt switch gears so tech seen the problem and they was able to fix it. No way could they have drove it

After my car was diagnosed at another shop and I wanted a 2nd opinion I called Aamco. Immediately I felt more comfortable just over the phone than I did with the other shop. They were honest, emailed an estimte and pictures. And it did NOT need everything that was quoted at the first shop. Honest service!!! Thank you Aamco. You have earned my business and trust.

This place is amazeballs!! Staff is friendly, or ice is great and they offer shuttle service if you need it (within reason of course). Worth the drive, they will treat you right!

I had shopped around for a location that could handle my auto need (transmission). After speaking with AAMCO and visiting the location, I was convinced that they could handle my crisis and provide me with professional service. No doubt, they kept me informed, had my vehicle ready on the date I selected, offered an opportunity for me to bring my vehicle back for a check up at no additional cost, and the customer service was outstanding. Not to mention, they beat both their competitors and the dealership cost for repairing my vehicle. My vehicles drive is smooth and comfortable. I have and will continue to refer customers to them. You get it all at one shop!
