Im sad to say that our three-course dinner here was disappointing. Each course was mediocre, and each one took a while to arrive (though I can appreciate that they were almost certainly short-staffed, which I feel empathy for). They also sat a couple next to our party of four at the same table, separated only by a low flower box, which was a bit awkward, especially with COVID.
So glad Verdigris landed in a new spot and made it thru covid. Love their food and wine!! Excellent happy hour.
These are tough times for staffing restaurants and Verdigris is settling into a new space. Maybe this was a one-off bad night (given other nice reviews), but we had a very disappointing dinner. We had made a reservation for two on the covered patio. We arrived on time at 6PM but were told that the only available outdoor seating was at a picnic table adjacent to the patio that we’d have to share with another party. As an alternative, we were offered and chose an indoor table in a small area next to the bar and open to the kitchen. We and other patrons were told simply to look up the menu on the restaurant’s website (no QR code?). This would have been a good time to inform us if there was anything no longer available on the menu (though also odd that a restaurant would sell out of one of their entrees by 6PM). Instead, it wasn’t until we were ready to place our order that we were told that one of our choices was no longer available. We ordered some wine. My partner’s white wine was not chilled. As we waited for our food, it was tough to talk over the loud dissonant rock music (think “Hit Liquor” by Shudder to Think)—maybe the music favored by the kitchen staff, but it did not fit the menu. We also noticed that several of the kitchen staff were wearing their masks below their noses. The starters we ordered were fine, but the main entrée, Beef Bourguignon, was mediocre—the beef was overcooked and dry and the sweet potatoes were undercooked. Though our wine glasses sat empty for a good while, we were never asked whether we might want a second drink. When our plates were cleared before dessert, the server also removed my water glass. When dessert was brought to the table, one of the two orders was wrong. The server said that for the mistake, we would not be charged for one of the desserts. There was not such adjustment to the bill when we received it.
I went for dinner 3 course. I loved the appetizers, super detailed and flavorful. The main was alright. Dessert was average too. I think its a good place to go once but I may not return.
Do yourself a favor and enjoy the rest of the sunshine sipping an Iceberg at Daisy Bar & Cafe. Half beer... Half frosty Marg, youll thank me! We really enjoyed the oysters, fries, and salad we had for a light lunch. Friendly service and decent seating outside. We felt very comfortable. Didnt snap a pick before the oysters, but did after 😂
My daughter and I traveled a long ways to go to a Cajun restaurant. Arrived 30 minutes before they were supposed to close but they had shut down the kitchen. Fortunately we went a couple doors down and found this absolute gem of a restaurant Verdigris. They were getting ready to close for the evening but kindly stayed open for us. It was an absolute exquisite dining pleasure. Everything was perfect from the salads to the lobster bisque and the main course, beef bourguignon. And to top off a perfect meal, the desserts were exceptional. Johnny, the owner worked in the kitchen. Wilmer was the server and was an absolute delight in every way. It was a truly wonderful evening due to the efforts and kindness of these two gentlemen. Highly recommend this restaurant in every way.
Thanks for such a lovely lunch today. The mushroom soup, turkey rubin and blended wine was amazing!!! Yum yum yum in every bite!!
Excellent food and service. The scrambled eggs were cooked perfectly and the seasoning on the crispy potatoes was amazing! Excited to go back for dinner. Staff was super friendly and helpful, and the outside seating is nice and dog friendly!
I wanted to order the entire menu it sounded so good. We didnt but got pretty close, and everything was fantastic.
We went for breakfast and it was very good. Well definitely be heading back for happy hour oysters.
This is an adorable and somewhat intimate setting. Dim-lit and very homey. I loved being created with an amuse-bouche and fresh house-made brioche+butter. Courses are thoughtfully prepared and true to French form (with what I would say are American twists). I must say the white bean starter was sublime and our favorite thing in the menu. The seafood chowder-like starter had incredible flavor but needed more substance such as more bits of vegetables or protein as it was mostly broth (just my personal opinion). The duck two ways was perfectly cooked and complimented by the whole grains. My top sirloin had a sweet butter that paired nicely but the steak was very tough even cooked medium rare. Overall this was an incredible value for a three course tasting menu ($33 pp). Oh, how can I forget...The service was outstanding. P.s. we forgot to take pics of all the courses!
My husband and I came in specifically during their Happy Hour to get their $1 oysters, aong with a few other things. We each ordered a dozen oysters only to find out that we were only allowed to order 6 per person. We have been to many $1/oyster Happy Hours, and not to be allowed ay least a dozen oysters per person is unheard of. It doesnt say that on their website. We offered to pay full price for more oysters, and they still wouldnt give us more. The service was mediocre. We wont be coming back
Sad to see that customer service has decreased so much, I will not be going back. Expensive and waiter could not care less. We want to support local restaurants after hardships inflicted by the pandemic but not at any cost when taking customers for granted. Waiter never asked how food was, $4 coffee that did not get refilled and on top of that he was rude, terrible experience. Adieu Verdigris!
Excellent food and service. I tried everything at the table and not one dish wasnt delicious.
Delicious food. V friendly service.
Service is rude. Food is meh
As always, delicious and delightful. Watch out for the mixed drinks, they pack a punch.
We recently ordered the four course French dinner and really enjoyed it. Great way to sample all the dishes. We tried the French onion soup, beef bourguignon, cassoulet, beet salad and both deserts and would recommend them all. We ordered pick up and everything was ready right on time and piping hot when we got home.
Very good, but pricey.
Listen. We picked this food up 30 mins late, then drove home for another 20. It was dead cold (obviously) yet was STILL ridiculously good. Thats hard to do.Were 100% going back (well be there on time next round) and are looking forward to trying more offerings from this delicious restaurant! 11/10
French food, super good. Nice location to meet with family. The service here is great. Bring your hunger - portions are filling.
Excellent place for quality French food. Staff treated us so nice. It has an awesome atmosphere.
An absolute gem! We came here for Sunday brunch and were lucky to be seated by the window. It was our first visit and I was impressed with both the service and the food. We ordered the braised beef and 60 minute egg with hash browns and ham, it was all delicious. Its very cozy and not at all pretentious. Thank you for a wonderful brunch. Im definitely coming back for dinner!
Fine location for delicious french food. A favorite evening place of mine. Ive had nothing but great experiences here and will keep coming back.
Great place to have dinner! The ambiance is nice without feeling stuffy, service was excellent. The food was delicious, we had the duck 2 ways and the seafood pasta which were flavorful and decadent. A bargain at $33 for 3 courses. We would definitely go again!
Verdigris was a very cute and quaint place. The staff was very friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable. We came in with our daughter and had an amazing meal. We each tried something different and all our meals were amazing. We definitely will be back again.
Went in on a whim and was not disappointed! Friendly service with knowledgeable staff. The March dining special (3 courses for $33) was great with a larger than average menu to chose from. I even got to watch the Blazers game! 10 out of 10 and I will definitely be going back!
This place is simply wonderful to have in the neighborhood. Perfect weekend afternoon in the fall sun eating ultra fresh raw oysters and white wine.
Amazing service
Theyre trying.
Quiet, quaint, and delicious neighborhood french restaurant. Everything on the menu was expertly done.
I visit this place a lot since I work in the area. I love how their service is always good and they keep the spot well organized all the time. Rates are fair and they serve generous portions.
The food here is always delicious. The menu is very meat heavy for dinner options but their brunch has a delicious vegetarian option. The staff are always friendly quick to help. It has a nice quiet, small feel makes for perfect date nights.
I love the location (a block away from home), ambience, and service. I do think the food sometimes misses. For instance, the BLT with like... pork belly? Strips of thick “bacon” you have to gnaw through like a wolf. A note to relevant parties: BRING BACK THE SLOPPY JOE!! Best thing I’ve eaten here, including classic brunch offerings. Very friendly and amenable service whenever I’ve come.
Love this little bright spot! So much charm. Id say order the french onion soup, and the gnocchi. You will not be disappointed.
The brunch is great but the lunch and dinner is incredibly limited in terms of vegetarian options. Its really just salads and the fries and chips which really deters me, as a vegetarian, from going there even though its a block from my house. With such a big vegetarian population in Portland I think they could benefit from adding some veg options. They also seem to only respond to good reviews which is really odd to me because they are a new restaurant and they should be listening to their community and looking to improve.
Really great experience! Great food. Intimate atmosphere. Quality service. What more could you ask for? (Maybe all this but for a better price; cest la vie)
Premium food and service under the radar in Portland’s fiercely competitive food scene. Good neighborhood feel and solid food experience. The prices are very reasonable for what you get. If you appreciate fine food, this is your spot. Away from the bustle and tucked into Portland’s refined Irvington neighborhood.
Food was amazing. Family surprised me on my birthday. Amazing food and service. Sadly, daughter threw up later, but I think the soup was too much for her stomach. Amazing. definitely would recommend for a date night. Probably if special occasion, or if your kids are on the older side, they would for sure enjoy the atmosphere and the food at this place.
Went on Valentines day for an expanded menu with more courses. Interesting foods, especially proteins. Duck, rabbit, etc. Portion sizes were appropriate for a multi-course menu. All food was rich. Lacking acid. But this is French food, so that makes sense. Times between courses at my table and some others was too long. Noisy room. But the food was pretty good. Bill for a cheaper bottle of wine and two dinners was $250.00 including tip. Probably wont return at that price point.
Great outdoor space, food and service!
The Sunday menu was so limited we ended eating a French hamburger. When I asked for a tomato, I was told they were out of season. No lettuce and got a couple of onion chunks. Really? That is the lamest answer imaginable. You can grow tomatoes year round anywhere. Also, I had to ask for more tomato sauce for our combined French fries since we got one container which was a 1 square cube. I had to flag down the servers three time. This was in a restaurant with maybe three groups and a 200 square foot space.
Solid breakfast diner to have in the neighborhood. Nice to have a place that has just good breakfast classics + nice lunch options too. Its not pretentious, but a casual restaurant with good food. Im not a big sweet breakfast person but really liked the coffee cake french toast.
Went for Portland Dining Month. Selection was excellent. Menu was well-balanced and beautifully prepared. All three courses were delicious but not very filling. Nothing stood out as really outstanding.
Here for Portland dining month (3 for $33). Dinner cost here is reasonable otherwise, but tonight with the dining month menu, carbonara was served in unrealistically/unacceptable small portions. Maybe 4 noodles. First course was a small salad. Headed to new seasons for dinner. Disappointed overall but like verdigris and their usual fare.
My husband and I have had 2 delicious meals here. The service was friendly and knowledgeable. We enjoyed wine with our meal. We shared a trout dish that was excellent and soup that was good. This place is small and feels very intimate. A nice place for a date.
This is one of our favorite local restaurants. I believe they opened about 5 years ago and we have been eating there since. The owner/chef has a way of blending flavors in a spectacular way. I usually prefer simple dishes, but there is a complexity here that just works. The staff is already friendly. If you go on a weekend, you really need a reservation. After over twenty visits, we have never had a bad experience!
We had a wonderful brunch here. Cozy fun atmosphere and everything was extremely tasty! I highly recommend eating here!
Felt like home cooking in the best way. Dishes were thoughtful, service was excellent. Just a really nice neighborhood spot.
The food is fabulous. The liquor top shelf and services is excellent. If you love talking wine and liquor talk to Will
Went here for Portland Dining Month, couldnt be more disappointed. Chicken was terrible quality, ordered the steak, came out well done and then again rare. Drinks were underwhelming, presentation was poor, coconut shrimp looked like it came out of a freezer, and the staff was indifferent.Dont normally write reviews, but feel the need to warn others to go elsewhere! Not worth the money
Went for dining month. The food was delicious, the drinks were quite tasty, and the staff was attentive and friendly. But really just boiled down to how good the food was. The beef was tender, the potatoes were perfect. The mushroom tarte was awesome. Everything was well seasoned. Very enjoyable experience.
Good quality food. I really like that they are doing fresh squeeze grapefruit juice, I took the polenta eggs and veggies which was very tasty, a great vegetarian option. They also have a gluten free toast option. My husband took the eggs benedict and liked it a lot, the potatoes were light, everything was well cooked. We also shared a daisy pancake with a red fruit compote which was not too sweet, it was the perfect balance for us. The service was friendly, It’s great to not have to wait in line! Although the coffee was a little expensive. We live nearby and will definitely come back.
Ugly decor. To close to other dinners.Okay food but dont be the last reservation of the night or they may run out of what u want. Staff is great.
Delicious brunch, friendly staff, and a great outdoor patio! Great NE neighborhood restaurant!!
Warm, comfortable atmosphere with delicious food. Delightful flavors and a menu that focuses on local and seasonal items. My favorite place in Portland for brunch!
Terrible service. Like, I’ve been working in fine dining restaurants for 20 years and I’ve never received such bad service anywhere I’ve ever been. I’ll say I did drop an “f bomb” in private conversation to my partner that was overheard by a waitress... who had ignored us standing at the door for 10 minutes, and we were subsequently asked to leave. We had reservations and no less than 3 waiters walked around us without acknowledging us Standing awkwardly at the front door while guests pushed past us to leave. Also, a party of 5 woo girls pushed past us and we’re immediately helped. won’t go back. Work on your customer service.
Really wanted this place to be good, but it just isn’t. Food came quickly, but was undercooked and not at all consistent. I got eggs Benedict, and the ham was great, the biscuits were underdone and doughy, the eggs were watery and the hollandaise sauce was a no show. My girlfriend got the breakfast sandwich. Sausage was undercooked (scared to eat it), egg was runny, and cheese was a brick, not melted. Place wasn’t busy, so not sure what the problem was, can’t believe they served the food this way on purpose. Oh well. Will keep hoping something decent settles into this spot, until then, obviously plenty of other good places for breakfast in NE.
Really like this spot. Good light clean food, plenty of it, really nice casual-and -informed-quality mood. The hours are a bit limited - check when theyre open. A hidden gem
My friend and I came for a drink after food nearby and love the unique recipes, and the comfortable atmosphere. Were very interested in coming back for dinner now that theyve started with later hours.
The Duck Fat Hash Browns were Amazing! Super Cute and Quaint Place! :)
This place was good. We came here on a Thursday and it wasnt too crowded. Overall, the food was good and though not hugely portioned, certainly enough to not leave hungry. The drinks (wine) was also quite good and the server was very friendly and accommodating of my gfs wheat and dairy allergy. I would have given it 5 stars if it were a bit more cozy and welcoming on the inside. Im not sure what it is, but when I walked in it just didnt feel that warm or cozy -- really just a space with tables and a kitchen area in the back.
The wine was good. I can cook better. The food was bland and the menu selections were few and nothing to get excited about.
This place is a great find for portland dining month with lots of options. I loved the cranberry cobbler a lot!
Great food! Outdoor seating!
New favorite restaurant in Portland. Phenomenal customer service. Lovely ambiance - exceptional food. It also helped we were by a window seat and it was snowing.Impressive.
I try not to post negative reviews of places with pleasant wait staff which Daisys has but Id be remiss if I didnt try to warn about the poor quality and choice of food available on the menu. Its Portland dining month (March) and on the first Friday night at 7pm they ran out of bacon.... For real!? The Pot Pie was a pile of shredded bbq chicken with a biscuit on top for 19$....For real!? The Ribeye burger came with a dense and cold roll...For real!? One star because the beer was cold and one star for the wait staff. This place needs some help.
Went to fixed menu with wine pairing event, all the dishes were delicious, the wines, vermouth and whisky from Ransom vineyards were very good to excellent and well chosen for the courses.Would absolutely do again!!
The server was a wonderful, kind attentive person, so these stars are for her. We ordered deep fried and breaded oysters for an appetizer. They had been fried so long, the oysters had turned to a hot liquid surrounded by hard crunch which was very unpleasant. They were served on potato salad which was really just cold quartered potatoes thinly covered in sauce. The amuse bouche was tasty. The pasta with mushrooms and truffle oil was delicious. The pork tenderloin wrapped in bacon was dry and so flavorless that when the server saw us not eating it, she was awesome and brought us a redo - still pretty flavorless and this time it was actually raw in the middle, but the bacon wrapped around it was crunchy at least. We wanted so much to like this place, but we’d been there for brunch and had a similar experience (fantastic service and overpriced, terrible food). There are so many other stellar restaurants in Portland, we won’t be coming back to Verdigris.
I was hoping to like this place, but the food wasnt good. Had breakfast and eggs were underdone and pork hash was soupy. My friend didnt like the bacon. Biscuit was pretty good, but I wont be back.
Went there for our anniversary dinner. One of the best places I have ever been. I really liked the ambience. Restaurant isnt big and it felt very private and comfortable there. Food was delicious. We are definately coming back!
Awful experience at Portland Dining Month... fried shrimp dish looked like something you’d find a college kid whipping up at a food stand at your neighborhood pool. One of us didn’t want to participate in dining month menu, was told it would be cheaper if we did... ended up being about $6 more expensiveBuddy ordered a steak medium rare came out rare as hell, then the next time around came out well done.If you’re going to paint half of the building an obnoxious bright yellow, your food needs to shine just as bright.Absolutely skip this place and go to the more established Grain and Gristle, Pok Pok, or skip dinner altogether, grab yourself a magic treat from Kings of Canna next door, and lock yourself in for a wild ride in the city of Portland, OR.Daisy ain’t it - god bless
This cute and cozy restaurant is fantastic. The creative and seasonal food never fails to impress. Kudos to the chef, youve created a gem!
I cannot tell you how excited I was to finally eat at Verdigris! I love food made with love and this place came with high recommendations. We arrive and are seated right away, even though we’re super early for our reservation, woohoo! The wine choices were excellent and the food options sounded amazing we are off to a good start! I am so confused as to what happened next. The amuse bouche was gruyere and bacon on puff pastry, was ok but not particularly amusing. Next was the white bean cassoulet with a 60 minute egg, now we’re talking! This was quite tasty and had me getting more excited for the rest of my meal.Seafood pappardelle with scallops, shrimp and crab. Sounds amazing right! Well I am pretty sure all the seafood was from last week. The crab tasted like the bay scallop which tasted like the shrimp, the sauce had the exact same old sea flavor that just could not encourage me to eat it. So I had two bites and called it a worthy try.Next was a Creme Caramel with a shortbread cookie... zzzz, a bland custard with an Equally exciting shortbread cookie. The service did little to improve the situation, besides comping the wine. Thank you again For that.My companions meal of a tough gristly blue steak and “cobbler” lacking any cobble (berries), was no better.I’m sorry Verdigris but, I had such high hopes for you and I’d say the mark was more than just missed.
The brunch was amazing. They were short staffed when I visited, so service was slow. Food was worth it.
Ive been going here a couple of times a year since shortly after they opened and I feel this is an often overlooked gem in Portland. They have changed their menu structure, its no longer Prix fixe (which I loved), but still everything is well executed with a good staff attending. The quality they are doing with the price point they are doing it at and the ease of getting in the door puts this on a very short list of my favorite gotos in Portland.
My wife and I discovered this place while renting in Irvington, it was just up the street and we had no idea what to expect. It has since become the place we bring people from out of town to for a guaranteed amazing meal. I dont just eat their food (I can wolf down a burger in the blink of an eye) I savor it and demand bites off other peoples plates. Make a reservation, it has since gotten much more popular than when we lived around the corner.
Exceptional service, incredible food, and a cozy and classy (but unpretentious) ambiance. The server brought over a complimentary appetizer from the chef - it was ridiculously delicious. Food and wine had a French fusion feel. Perfect for a date night!
Cant wait to go back to Oregon to eat here again!
We went for brunch and the food was exquisite. The kitchen is familiar enough with the local ingredients to put together an astonishing menu, and the coffee was a rich and unique brew. The location, of course, appeared to me to be a ventige spot in Portland and the smaller dining area made for a comfortable and relaxing experience.
Ate here on Sunday 8/4 with my kids . Nice staff . I had the polenta with eggs and greens and it was a surprising umami bomb. We sat down no problem at noon! They also home make their brioche and it was amazing
This intimate restaurant has been my favorite in PDX since it opened. The food is consistently creative and packed with umami, (I think thats Japanese for delicious good mouth feel). My guests always say, Whats in this dish? and we share bites of each others orders. The not-too-fussy French cuisine is cooked in a small open kitchen (how do they do it?), and the atmosphere is warmly charming. For goodness sake, go!
My first experience here was fantastic and I plan to go back soon! The service was perfection (very knowledgeable about wine, laid back, attentive), the open kitchen fun to see, cozy/romantic atmosphere, and delicious food. Had three courses and each one was great! The chef pays special attention to the flavors and beautiful plating.
Was able to try The Florentine and The Northwestern (eggs benedict with Idaho trout). Both were pretty good, but hollandaise sauce can be hit or miss for me. Unfortunately this one upset my stomach after. Id need to try it again to see if it was a one off. However some of the sandwiches and French toast options seem more enticing if I were to go back again.
Excellent food and service. Nice romantic brunch!
Authentic french cuisine. Great pricing for quality food in a small but wonderful restaurant. Love getting a last minute reservation on a weeknight to have the chefs special.
