Not sure if under new management or what, but we used to love this place. Used to have knowledgeable staff to help with marinades and recommendations. Know not so much. The variety of fish not so good anymore. Still the best place to get fresh fish, but definitely a change from what it used to be.
Clean Catch sells the absolute BEST and freshest fish I’ve ever had in Charlotte!! (I am a very picky person) If you want the best quality you will get the best!! Very knowledgeable staff! The market is so clean and tidy! I highly recommend them!!
A random stop, first time visiting Clean Catch. Crab cakes were delicious, the sauce that Clean Catch pairs with compliments well. I will definitely return. The prices are a bit high compared to what you will pay at your local grocery store. However, the quality is much better than your local grocers seafood.
Ordered stone crab claws for New Years two weeks ago and they couldnt be bothered to call and let me know so after waiting in line 20 minutes. Surprise....
I was so happy when I discovered Clean Catch. I will pay top dollar for high-quality salmon, and they offer some amazing, delicious, fresh salmon. Their prices might be high but youll pay these prices for the best quality in any major city. I know this because I paid the same price in Toronto, where my local go-to also have fish flown in. The Clean Catch establishment is spotless, and they carry really nice products (olive oil, fresh bread from NYC, spices, etc) and Bill has a great team. Im moving to Raleigh and sadly, so far I havent found anything like Clean Catch. I wish theyd open a location there!! :-)
Clean Catch is the go-to place for seafood! Crab cakes and salmon are amazing and chunk lobster meat makes the best lobster salad. Their dumplings and seaweed salad are delicious too. Well worth the price!!
We found this wonderful fish market in Charlotte, NC! They deliver fresh fish, seafood, and shellfish in an insulated bag to your doorstep! While we lived in Charlotte, we had sushi bowls, fresh fish and seafood delivered about 2 -3 times a week. We called several times to get cooking and serving suggestions for anything we had delivered. This place is serious about taking care of their customers. They need to sell their business model to fish markets across the Nation!!
You get what you pay for...I go here weekly and have never been disappointed by the fish or the advice for cooking it. Everything is always outstanding even when you buy some waygu beef!!
Just stepped in for the 1st time... sushi was incredible. Service was also excellent. Even the soy sauce options were glorious. Can’t wait to come back (pray for my wallet 😅)
I always keep it real for the average consumer. Quality fish, but grossly overpriced.
I bought some bluefin tuna here and it was exquisite. The meat was firm and not fishy at all. I used it to make sashimi and I can’t wait to get more.
I grew up fishing on Long Island Sound. My dad was a commercial lobster fisherman and we always had fresh fish to eat. The guys at Clean Cut Fish Market were able and willing to procure some fresh blue fish for me from the coast. Its my favorite fish, but oddly not too popular, and other local markets would not even try. Got a call from Scott this morning... My fish will be here tomorrow. Can you say....lifetime customer ?
In response to recommendations on Nextdoor, I visited Clean Catch Fish Market for the first time and I was not disappointed! I sought a Charlotte fresh fish supplier for home cooks and I believe I’ve found it here. The shop is clean and attractive, staff members are friendly and helpful, the fish looks fresh, and the three items I purchased were outstanding! I will definitely return and I look forward to trying their fresh-made sushi too!
Having worked extensively in fine dining restaurants in the NYC tristate for a decade I can 100% say that the quality of all of the fish here is what only a poisoner at a great restaurant sees after breaking his fish from a top purveyor. In contrast, when I go to say a Whole Foods, there might be one type of fish that day (out of a dozen) that is fresh enough that I would want to buy and consume, never mind thinking about raw preparations.Everything in Clean Catch’s case was exquisite quality and I’m stoked to have access to true sashimi quality fish locally. If you want the best product you pay top $$$$.
My experiences with Clean Catch have been awesome. The clams and oysters are incredible as are the shrimp and lobster. The sauces for these delights are over the top. The service is impeccable and the people I meet while shopping have helped me decide what I want for my next meal. Oh yes, dont forget the scallops; if you dont know how to cook them; just ask.Thank you Clean Catch for coming to Charlotte
Best fish you will ever eat! They also make it easy on you with recipes, helpful advice, and thorough descriptions. The menu changes daily but it features fresh fish from all around the world. The sashimi grade fish is great for taking home and having a feast that would cost you hundreds at a nice sushi restaurant. The prices are high, but youre paying for quality and freshness. Every fish weve had with them has been tasty and easy to prepare. Even if youre not used to cooking fish, Clean Catch is worth your time and money. Do it!
Top quality, fresh fish. Yes, you pay for it. Personally, I feel it is worth it. I especially enjoy the sashimi grade fish and scallops-- just slice up and eat at home; doesnt get any better than that. It is a privilege to have a fish market of such high quality in Charlotte!
Most impressive fish market named after a urine sample Ive ever encountered. Five stars!
The most spotless and odorless seafood/fish market I have ever visited! The establishment is well maintained. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable !!!!
I tend to shop locally, love to know where my food is from and that its sustainably harvested. I know I may pay more for this assurance. So I got this bug in my head to try out Clean Catch in Myers Park since I wanted fish tonight and was in the vicinity. Heres how my experience went: the location is spotless and the seafood on display is beautiful. The available catches are displayed on a large menu but WITHOUT PRICES, although theres an area to display them. That should have been my clue, but I can be clueless.I ordered 1.22 lbs of halibut and a half pound of ceviche featuring octopus. My bill was $95!!! Thats 58.99 per pound for the halibut and $39.88 per pound for the ceviche. All had been cut and packaged so I couldnt back out. While Im sure this will be the best and most conscionable choice, I had a really hard time explaining the expense to my better half. I could have taken us both to McCormick & Schmicks for a comparable price. My STRONG suggestion is for Clean Catch to DISPLAY PRICES or a sign that says if you have to ask, you cant afford it.
Best Fresh Seafood Market in CLT and surrounding!!
I started buying my seafood here when it opened and havent been able to go anywhere else. Fresh, tasty, great experience. Yes, you will pay a bit more, but it is so worth it!!!
THE BEST, FRESHEST FISH! Reasonable prices considering you are get the absolute freshest fish flown in from Hawaii, Alaska etc. Whilst the service may seem slow, they actually give very personal service, with attention to giving you THE best piece of fish, filleted or skinned exactly as YOU require. We have enjoyed the most tastiest grouper, halibut, salmon, wahoo and flounder.
There is no place in Charlotte (or anywhere) that you can find fish and seafood of this high a quality and freshness. Bar none. Go see Bill and Chef Caine and theyll steer you in the right direction. Worth every penny. Youll never eat super market fish again!
We love everything about Clean Catch except their prices. High quality and great service with accompanying high prices.
Ashley was amazing and so helpful. Cant wait for my sushi dinner tonight. I picked up fresh sushi grade Ora King Salmon and yellow fin tuna. Thanks ashley. Thanks clean catch!
$42.00 for fresh scallops are you kidding me. Either you people shopping here are not up on market prices or dont care. Or this guy is just taking you to the cleaners.
Poke was subpar. 50% tuna at a 100% tuna price. Not very tasty or authentic. Nice selection of fish but pricey.
Chef Reed made the entire visit amazing
Amazing place - pricey but the guys know their stuff and can tell you all about the fish and how to prepare it.
$42 and $53 for 1lbs of scallops. Insane. I misread their advertisement sign and thought crab cakes were $9/lbs, well, it turned out to be each. They were yummy, thats why 2 stars. But God, its expensive
Great selection of frrsh fish and shellfish.
