Visited these guys a couple months ago with a crack in the soundboard of my guitar. They provided a great price and even better customer service. The atmosphere was warm and friendly and where the crack was, it now blends in so nicely with the wood grain you cant even tell its there. The sound quality is still fantastic and they did a quick adjustment to the neck of the guitar to prevent some warping (free of additional charge). They provided knowledgeable and patient answers to all questions and I will 10/10 be going back for any future needed repairs.

Nick and his crew are the best! I brought in my Yamaha RGX-A2 which other luthiers had said was a lost cause: years of storage had caused the neck to warp the wrong way. They were able to correct some of the damage with heat, but then planed the neck and beautifully refretted it so it plays like a dream! Kudos for saving this lightweight gem from the scrap heap. Highly recommend!

I first visited Nicks shop back in 2017 and he did a fantastic job on the strat that I gave him to work on. That guitar received a setup, new pickups and electronics. When I got my guitar back the body resonated against my chest and the satin finished maple neck felt good to the touch. It became my second favorite guitar to play.Fast forward to 2021 and I no longer live in the Charlotte area but in Raleigh. I never forgot the work that Nick did for me back then so I called the shop and was told that there was a month wait list before he would actually be able to work on any of my guitars. So I drove down to Charlotte with 3 guitars in hand: 2010 Squier CV 60s strat (my favorite guitar), 2013 Squier CV 50s tele and a 2005 Martin OMJM.After a month of waiting, I got my guitars back. Those guitars looked, sound and played fantastic. Especially the Squiers... those two guitars play well above their original pay grade. And the Martin gets played every single day if no more than just 5 minutes. Thanks NC Guitar Work!!

WOOOOWWWWW!!!!! A Google search produced the best result possible!I needed to make a decision. Im new to the Charlotte area. Gigging has become a part of my life again, and I was in need of an acoustic guitar I could rely on.....do I buy a new one, or resurrect my elderly friend..........????????........what was the best way to invest in a guitar?.........well.......check it out:My 36 year-old Ovation has come back to life, thanks to Nick and the NC Guitar Works team. He replaced the old, worn-out frets with Stainless Steel ones (Ill never have to do that again), sanded down the finger board to a smooth finish, then set it up...as Goldilocks would say.....juuuuuust right.I can almost say that it plays better now than the first day I put my hands to it. Finger-picking is a breeze once more...........Nothing else sounds quite like an old ovation.....and this one sounds and plays wonderful!Thank you Nick!!!!!!!!!

These guys do great work! About a year ago, I took my mid-80s Carvin V220 for a fret dress and set-up of the original Kahler tremolo. The guitar now plays like a dream. Unfortunately, the Kahler was so old that it was nearly beyond repair. So they got it to where it wouldnt float and could be used like a standard bridge with fine tuners. Genius!Last week, I took another guitar that I got second hand up there to get it fixed up. They were able to point out things I didnt originally see when I bought it, and I have every confidence that they will make it like new.

Moved here from NJ and looked forever for someone to be my “guitar guys”. Referral from Ed at Woodys Guitar in Ft Mill said Nick from North Carolina Guitars is the only place to go. Ed is forever on my Christmas card list because this place was even better then I could have ever imagined!Had a “Mary Kaye” Precision Bass that had some serious water damage on the headstock that was dealt with by the original owner 100% incorrectly. Nick suggested the fix (which included my suggestion to match the headstock with the body) the fix which included the neck being refinished was perfection. Matched the color perfectly AND the setup he did was The Best I’ve ever had on any of my instruments......Ever!!!!Don’t think twice. You need work done on a stringed instrument.....2 things never forget1) North Carolina Guitars (in Charlotte)2) Won’t find anyone better.

I just bought a limited edition Martin and the ivoroid binding was coming apart at the belly. The shop I purchased it from said they would take care or it no problem. Well let’s just say they did a terrible job. It looked bad and the binding wasn’t flush with the contours of the guitar. I took it to NC Guitar Works with low expectations they could fix the other shops sloppy work. I have to say they blew away my expectations, not only does it look like the binding ever came off but they where able to make the surfaces flush and smooth with the guitar finish. I’ll never let anyone else but NCGW work on my instruments. As you can see in the picture, it’s extremely hard to see where the binding was coming up. Excellent work

I mostly do my own minor repairs and setups, but a couple of jobs were above my pay grade: Years ago, my Alvarez dreadnoughts bridge pulled away from the top, and looked to be warped. Also, my old archtops top braces became unglued at some point. In both cases, the guitars were essentially unplayable. When I picked them up, they were clean and repaired without a trace of evidence. Their work is nothing short of ARTISTIC. My beloved Gibson 335 had a streak in the rosewood fret board that had started to bother me in terms of aesthetics. The guitar sounded great, played great--but that streak was still getting on my nerves. I had these guys work on it, and man am I glad I did! After they worked their magic, the streak is completely invisible. Best of all, the fret board retained its natural wood look all over. They did not just ebonize the whole board or take any drastic measures like that. Somehow, these guys got it just right and gave me much better results than I thought possible. They also gave the guitar an amazing set up and meticulous cleaning. I will bring all of my guitars there from now on for any and all work.
