They did way more than we asked and much more than we expected…all with cheerful and “can do” attitudes.Whenever I picked up a box, one of Brandon’s team quickly took it away and moved it to its proper destination. I can’t say enough about how hard this crew worked, including a second story challenge and a 900 pound crated baby grand piano challenge. These guys really made it happen with virtually no damage on their “watch.”We feel fortunate to have had these gentlemen finish a move that started thousands of miles away in South America, over 3 months ago, before they completed the delivery. The unpacking team sent by Hilldrup (Hanna & Drake) were absolutely awesome. They showed up on time and executed our unpacking efficiently and with no issues. Hanna asked for guidance when needed and handled everything I requested - they were pleasant and helpful all around.Note - I need to be clear that this review applies ONLY to the unpacking team. The remaining aspects of the move were riddled with issues (I did not reflect that in this review as the move originated in Cincinnati and therefore I’m unsure where to assign responsibility for the numerous broken items, the fact that only 2/3 of my goods arrived on the truck while the other 1/3 remains in Ohio, and that another person’s items were delivered on the truck which were not mine).

We used Hilldrup in Fall 2018 for our move and they were fantastic. The entire move was extremely professional from start to finish. Excellent packing job. Our new home wasn’t going to be ready for a few weeks, so our items were stored safely. We even had to push our move date a few times and customer service was excellent. We requested the same team that moved us out for the move in date and they were wonderful to work with, and truly cared about our stuff. Brandon was our team’s lead. The whole team had great attitudes and their humor made the move in less stressful. We paid for their insurance, and even that part of the process was handled smoothly and they did an impressive job with any needed repairs. I have done many moves but this one was one of the largest and smoothest. Hilldrup and their team was worth every penny.

Hanna and her team did an astounding job quickly and efficiently packing my 5 bedroom house within about 6-8 hours. They took care to sufficiently wrap all items and asked questions about everything. I struggled with the thought of letting go of control over packing my own things (as I’ve always done in the past) but once Hanna got started I realized this is her wheelhouse and she nailed it. 10/10 recommend!

We hired Hilldrup to move from Mooresville to Kannapolis (local move). They were the most expensive quote but we thought we would have the highest level of service and attention to details.It was absolutely the opposite of our exceptions. From day 1 when the driver was instructed he could not turn the truck around in our cul-de-sac and that he would have to back out. He elected to try it anyway and destroyed several thousand dollars of landscaping (we lived in The Point). Now the HOA is chasing them down to pay for the damage.This was our 7th move in 25+ years and experienced more damage to our furniture in this one move than all the others combined. We took pictures of all the damage and yet the workers would try to deny they broke the items.I spoke to our move coordinator and detailed everything (this is the short version) and she said she would call me right back........3 days later she calls and says she has our final bill with no mention of our problems. WOW.

We recently moved from Charlotte to Denver and Hilldrup was excellent to work with. They were a little more expensive than the other companies we looked at but we ultimately went with Hilldrup because of the responsiveness and value. They were extremely professional and helpful as this was our first move across country.

Second move with this company in 2 months to finally move the remaining furniture. Sadly it was totally different service. This 3 man crew was the slowest Ive ever experienced. Furniture for a 3 bedroom house took 7-1/2 hours!! And the move was less than 5 miles apart. Very disappointed since I had such an awesome experience with the first move.Crew actually arrived 15 minutes early! Amazing. 3 man crew was courteous, respectful and hard-working. Took a very short lunch break and then started working again. Everything arrived in great condition. I would definitely use them again.

My experience with Hilldrup Moving was very positive. They were wonderful to deal with throughout the entire process (moving from NC to NY). Everyone at Hilldrup was helpful and friendly . The agent who oversaw the process from scheduling, to pickup, to storage, to delivery was solicitous and went out of her way to be helpful. While had overall good service and a good move, one of our expensive vases was broken on the move and the insurance refused to pay out. this left a bad taste so can only rank them a 3

Best moving experience ever. Started with Rico from Charlotte who showed up at our house with two helpers. Superb job of wrapping and securing furniture for the trip southward. All were pleasant, sociable and willing to take extra time to make items safe for the trip. Delivery came early on a Sunday morning with driver Hercules and again two strong associates who worked with us to get furnishings to proper places and assembled as needed. Minor damage to a piano leg with explanation that someone will come out to adjust the leg. The experience started with an estimate from Michael and then Rachael took over checking with us frequently and woking to accommodate us on delivery date. All went WELL. Great Experience

The movers (pickup and delivery guys) were awesome. Couldnt ask for a better crew. Scheduling was horrendous. Found out that my delivery was delayed by a day (no big deal) the day before the confirmed delivery date. I only found out because I called them. Id already made travel and work adjustments to be at my home for the CONFIRMED delivery time. If I hadnt picked up the phone, I would have been sitting at the house waiting for a delivery that never showed.Ridiculous....Just pick up the phone and let me know the shipment was delayed. How easy would that have been. Then I encountered apathy once I complained.

Best moving company I have ever dealt with

This was my second move with Hilldrup, so I have experienced a long-distance move and now a local one. In both cases, the crews were excellent, as was customer service before and during the move. I would not hesitate to call them again!

This is the 2nd time I have used this company and both experiences were great. The follow-up exceeds expectations. I can truly say, working in a customer service related profession myself, my contact Angela H demonstrated not only professionalism, she was courteous, positive, timely and truly left the impression that she cared about my particular move! My opinion of Hilldrup is it is the best moving company there is...period

Michael Sandell was such a blessings to me. He set up my move completely in one day and connected me to who I needed to speak with for my move. He also helped connect me to a Realty Company to help sell my house. Then he gave me needed boxes for my move which I really needed. He was very professional and extremely helpful with everything. I couldnt be more pleased with Michael and every one else involved !!! The actual move went very well also.

My move with Hilldrup and United Van Lines was nothing short of a disaster. Their sales agent who came to my house gave me a lot of flexibility as to when my furniture would be moved from Charlotte to Michigan. He also quoted me a price on the spot for the move. As I interviewed four firms for the move, I did not accept his offer there and then. A week or so later he called and told me that I had to the end of the week to give an answer if I wanted a moving van guaranteed for the move. I accepted the offer. What a mistake I made. Three days later I get a call saying that they cannot honor the dates I was given and gave me a new schedule. I did not accept that schedule. They called the next day with yet another schedule for the delivery. I had no choice by then but to accept that schedule. As part of the agreed binding price, I was to have my furniture packed in NC and unpacked in MI. I also had two clocks dissembled by their staff and packed for the move and reassembled in Michigan. Granted, I moved to a fairly remote location in Michigan. But Michigan is not Alaska nor Hawaii. In the end, the shipment was 13 days late, the movers did not unpack my goods in Michigan (unless I wanted to wait another 8 days of staring at unpacked boxes in my house), and the pendulum to my antique clock was broken during the move. Moreover, due to the remoteness of where I moved to, I had to pay an extra $200 for the servicing of the clocks even through the quote I was given in Charlotte was binding. Yes, I was compensated by United for the delay and the unpacking not having taken place. But the move was a total disaster and one of the most stressful situations I have been in in a long time. The Hilldrup service representative who I dealt with in Charlotte was both professional and apologetic and I cannot really blame her for the mess that they put me in. That said, there is no way I could ever recommend this firm to anyone else after what happened to me.

NEVER AGAIN! I was so disappointed in our moving service with Hilldrup. So disappointed - Ive been in tears! Our movers were more concerned about the clock than our belongings. Not only did they arrive at our new home with a broken lamp and items from their storage warehouse that didnt even belong to us, they left before finishing the job! They didnt bother to move our fridge into the house from the garage. They rushed to put together furniture they had taken apart to make the move and left us with exposed screws and furniture that could easily collapse - terrible combo when you have a toddler. They also put two holes in our wall while moving furniture up the stairs. We even tipped them $100 and in my opinion - they didnt deserve it. Im still dealing with the aftermath, going through insurance companies, etc. I would not recommend Hilldrup to family and friends, especially not the Durham, NC crew.

Easy to work with

We have used Hilldrup for 3 moves in 3 years. My first two moves were great. The VP (who is no longer there) was a friend of my sister for those moves so I’m guessing that’s why they went well. He left but we still used them for our last move which was the worst move I’ve ever had and that’s why I ranked them low. Now I also know why he left. We paid for them to box all our stuff and move it 3 hours away. They showed up the day before and boxes everything so they knew our items well. They showed up the next day with a truck that was too small. They had to shove our stuff in to make it work. They forgot items and I had to take two carloads to get everything they forgot. Then when items were delivered many were damaged. A leg to my chaise lounge that was given to me by my grandfather was broken. Not only was it broken the person that broke it glued it together so we wouldn’t notice. Then a chunk was taken out of my kitchen table. My guest bed was broken and hall tree damaged. Parts to my vacuum (that we had to ask them three times to move) were missing. They never put it in a box. They had a guy come and repair what furniture he could. He did a great job. The items that were missing or couldn’t be replaced will cost us $700 to replace and they offered up $70. After a $9000 move it is unexceptable to treat someone’s items like that. DON’T USE THEM unless you plan on buying new furniture for your move or don’t care about your stuff.

The person answering the phones was very rude. I basically hung up not knowing anything more prior to my phone call because she did not provide any type of customer service. Did not even try to help answer my questions or figure out what the problem at hand was.

After more than 50 moves (domestic and international) this is the WORST moving company I have ever dealt with. Was forced to use them for a corporate relocation and 11 months later, they have still not settled a claim for my refrigerator, which they damaged substantially in the move. Additionally, they pulled a rank amateur move by sending me a cash our check for other damage which states that if I cash it, I consider this settlement of the claim. AND on the letter they sent me, it states that my refrigerator has been repaired, which is still hasnt. I will never recommend them to anyone - their movers were rude and rushed, which is why stuff got broken to begin with and their customer service is abysmal.

The best and only good thing about Hildrup was their team of movers KEITH, WILLIAM, RICO AND CARLOS whom were absolutely phenomenal, ask for them and you will be truly happy...... Just dont forget to tip them they earn it. As for storing your belongings think twice, the so called climate control was not on some of my furniture had to be reconditioned and clothes, curtains, bedding although packed with great care all musty, chrome mirror totally pitted threw it away.Their billing and customer SERVICE is horrific, with multiple and I mean multiple calls about errors they made I was ready to scream. P.S. DELIVERY OF ALL OUR BELONGINGS WAS MADE 6WEEKS AGO AND THEY RECENTLY SENT ME ANOTHER STORAGE BILL.......REALLY.
