I needed to find steel tubing for a prototype I was building. I needed to test fitment of tubes into one another. Dillon supply has a very large assortment of samples hanging in the showroom to look at for fitment, wall thickness etc. I phoned prior to going to make sure I was able to handle materials for my research before buying. Emily answered the phone and gave me the information I needed so I went in to the store/warehouse that I had called. Dillon has many locations.I wasnt 10 feet into the showroom and someone was out from the office (which has a glass partition to the showroom) with a smile and a friendly request for what they could help me with. This manerism is so rare these days it is always worth pointing out. I started to explain that I had called and midway through, Emily, knowing what I was there to do, came out and took over. She assisted in my search, giving suggestions and looking up what was in stock and what they may need to get from another of their facilities. She was even looking out for me with material expense, pointing out less costly tubing. It took me an hour and a half to check fitment and do my math. Emily was insanely patient! Never once swaying from her helpful, cheery disposition.*Important note that I was unaware of: you must buy entire lengths of the material you want. Structural steel tubing is 20 to 24 feet long. They will cut material to a requested size but not precisely. Which is fine. Also worth noting, they sell plumbing materials and have a nice showroom with reasonably priced tools, safety gear, welding consumables, other materials and hardware. For anyone looking for steel and fabrication equipment Dillon supply is worth checking out.
