The garden area is a magical place!My husband likes the hardware store as well. He is a grill man! I just fall a little more in love each time I walk into the garden area. You absolutely have to check out this place. Set aside an hour or two and shop to your hearts content. I’m thinking Christmas gifts!

A small group and I went bike riding through freedom park and ended at park rd plaza for a cup of coffee. Knowing I wasnt familiar with the area they proceeded to tell me what all is in the area. Blackhawk being one of them. Heard of it but never been. So my girlfriend and I left her husband to guard the bikes while we walked up to the hardware. We went in the garden area first then into the hardware. I promised myself once I got home and showered I was coming back. The gentleman in the garden area was very friendly and gave the layout suggested I go to the indoor plant. I went in was looking around for a plant I dont have. Saw how beautifully everything was laid out,, spotted A plant I hadnt seen and dont have in my collection. Ask the lady there what it was and instead I was told I should look at the price first. Without looking at the price I said I still want to know what it is. To me it looked to be in the philodonrum family or pathos. I was corrected that it is a philodonrum as she looked up what it was. I cant count the number of plants I own, too many. My knowledge of plants is vast. But I was truly put off by the attitude that I should look at the price first. I didnt ask how much it was. Just WHAT it was. Needless to say I left, will NOT be back ever. Too bad saw a lot of things that would make me want to come back again and again

The BEST hardware store we have ever been in! The woman at The Sleepy Poet told us to come here for kitchen hardware. Amazing selection! We would have never known it is so much more than a hardware store. Need a unique gift come here!

We went to go wash our dog Maddie because they have a machine that cleans dogs and they were so nice and the machine worked perfectly she is now squeaky clean also after we finished taking her a bath they gave us a biscuit for her. Overall it was a great experience. Written by my 10 year old that loves this Hardware Store.

Great store and even better customer service. We called them and asked if they had a specific grill in stock that we had looked all over Charlotte for. They called us back in 10 min to confirm and said they would hold it for us. It was pulled and waiting for us when we arrived, they showed us all of the accessories and then loaded it for us. Yes, they are a bit more expensive, but it is hard to find great customer service anymore as well as a great old fashioned hardware store experience… we are going back today.

Its a little pricey but an amazing place. Super helpful. Really fun to look around at all the different things. My kids love the popcorn.

GARDEN CENTER REVIEWFirst off, I love plants. Like, I really, really love plants. I have 63 of them living in my apartment at the moment. So, trust when I say that the Blackhawk Garden Center is fantastic, its absolutely true.This garden center is admittedly smaller than others you may visit in the area, like Malones or Rountree Nurseries, but it has an excellent selection of both indoor and outdoor plants, along with planters and pots. The woman in charge of the garden center is extremely knowledgable and kind; the perfect person to point a beginner in the right direction.I have been a loyal customer since moving to Charlotte three years ago and have never once been disappointed by the selection or service. The Blackhawk Garden Center consistently offers great items at great prices, which is one of the many reasons why its my favorite and most recommended place to plant shop in Charlotte.

This is my go to place for so many things including planting/gardening to funny cards, paint/hardware, key making and fun napkins, cups and other unique things. The staff is welcoming, knowledgeable and always helpful. The popcorn is a great touch!

Had an amazing experience in this store today. Everyone was friendly and very helpful. They had at least 8+ people sitting around the sales floor hanging out ready to help. Dogs are allowed and they give out free treats and love to pet them. Free popcorn at the front, too! Eclectic gift selection and other misc home items can make this store a weekly stop. It’s way more than hardware!

If you havent been to Blackhawk, you need to check out the new enlarged store!! I thought they had everything prior to the renovation, now they truly do!! Huge selection of high quality items. If you need an uncommon size bolt/screw or need anything in Stainless, Blackhawk is the place to go. They carry everything you can think of and some very unique items!They now have a large selection of grills, including the Big Green Egg grills, Yeti coolers and accessories. They have expanded the selection of door hardware and cabinet pulls. The staff is all very knowledgeable and helpful. Like an old time hardware store, free popcorn in the front of the store and they allow dogs!

My husband and I just purchased a natural gas grill from here. David was SO helpful. He was very thorough in explaining the pros and cons of each option and helping us find the right one for us. He was genuine and kind and I can not recommend this store enough! Amazing experience.

Being somewhat who has been doing a lot of DIY work since COVID-19 started, I have had a lot of experience with various home improvement and hardware stores and the service at Blackhawk Hardware js unparalleled.Not only do they have someone at the front who is educating around stores expectations during the pandemic, but this person will proactively ask what you are looking for and then point you in the right direction. With time being limited in order to get what I need and head to the next place to get everything I need, this level of service is amazing.While in the store, there are a number of people willing to help in finding what you need. Since the store has recently expanded and they have an entire downstairs area with new access in the center of the store, having this level of assistance is very much appreciated and leagues above the level of service at Lowes, Home Depot and other similar stores.Though they may not have everything I need like some of the larger home improvement stores, they have a lot of what I need and the quality of products plus level of service is superior, so I will always check here first if theres a likelihood they have what I need.I also used their website to find the products I needed and see the various options and availability, which is surprisingly updated and accurate so I commend them on remaining updated with the need to be digitally focused.

I love visiting the garden center. The staff are so kind and always willing to help and sell me things. :) Who knew buying planters and plants could be so much fun.I would give 5 stars to this place but I was recommended to a Pam to help with my gardening project and she did an incomplete job. I contacted her to come plant the plants properly (see pictures) and she refused to come back. Very unprofessional and I hope that Blackhawk would not recommend her to anyone else

Blackhawk hardware has everything yet I was very disappointed I went in early to have a car key made and the girl said she couldnt do it until someone else was there and told me to come back at 12 I came back and she was talking to someone at a register I went over to the key cut area and rang the bell and a guy said just a minute then he comes out and I showed him the key and he said he couldnt do it that I should have come earlier and he couldnt do it without her there and she went to lunch. Said I should have come at 12 I said I was and showed my time on my phone.. I had driven back to the hardware to get this done. Since I live in Belmont I guess now Ill go to Nissan.. still a great hardware..

Usually have a very friendly experience in here, but was not the case today at the garden center. I was looking for a puppy-friendly, non-toxic house plant and the employee (Martin) in the garden center was outright rude to me (“there’s a store called Michael’s that sells silk plants”) for apparently taking too long (to his co-worker, he said “she will be here all day”) to try to find a plant that wouldn’t cause harm to a dog (although, in his words, “it won’t kill the dog, it will just make their throat swell up and they won’t be able to swallow”). I guess Covid has caused a paucity of good employees among a paucity of other things. I don’t think I will be back.

I came out looking for a nail to replace a peg lost for a wooden knife holder. There had been four pegs for four knives, and one peg had been lost. I had a L-screw in my hand which showed the diameter of the needed peg as well as the length of the lost peg. After looking at all the possible nails, Bob (who was the gentlemen sitting at the bottom of the stairs directing people) asked me if I needed the L part of the screw and I said no that if I could cut off the L part and the screw-in part, it would be the right size. He then said follow me. He went into a back room and proceeded to cut off both parts of the screw for me. My new peg is perfect!!! I now have all four knives each hanging on its own peg. I am so pleased and thankful for Bob and his help! What amazing service!

The best selection of hardware items in South Charlotte.

Recently went in to grab a few wood screws. An older gentleman named John spent several minutes helping me find the right screws, and another several minutes giving me pointers on woodworking after I mentioned I was new to the hobby and was eager to learn. John had been a professional woodworker for many years, so I was thrilled to get an expert opinion on some of the projects Id been wanting to try (theres so much misinformation online these days).John, thanks for taking the time to patiently answer all of my questions. The side tables turned out great!New to the area; this is where Ill be doing all my tool shopping from now on.

There is no better hardware store than Blackhawk. Period. They know their business and the service is terrific. The way its operated is the standard by which all retail businesses should be judged.

Love Blackhawks plants, yes, you will pay a little bit morethan Walmart or Lowe’s or Home Depot but they are beautiful and healthy!!

I took off a star due to construction issues and mess (it was a bit dangerous).Ive lived in the area virtually all my life. Ive watched Blackhawk grow as I grew. It started as a small hardware store that offered free fresh popcorn (you could smell it 50 ft out the door!) and has become SO much more! They offer free coffee now, but its not about the coffee! The staff are friendly and helpful! You may go in for one item but they have so much stuff that youll definitely find something else you didnt know you needed. The real hardware is now downstairs in the center of the store but its pretty easy to get across the main seasonal display to the left side of the store (looking in) to get to the stairs. They have a little bit of everything homegoods it seems like. I swear I saw a dog washing station in the back...I didnt check it out so I dont know if it was a display or actually for washing pets. It also feels better to shop at a smaller business than a huge box store like Walmart (I know its an Ace Hardware chain, but still)...Im glad to see the Blackhawk name has held on in the same location for all these years and the store has even expanded. They have a garden center a few doors down! You dont often see that nowadays.

In addition to having a lot of good products, the employees couldnt have been any nicer or more helpful! They were awesome to work with and very knowledgeable. They are dog friendly and also sold a descent amount of animal food and toys. Will definitely be back.

I went to Blackhawk Hardware this evening to get a washer for an outdoor hose spigot. I arrived at 6:05 PM, just after the store had closed for the evening. The owner of the store, Jim, was at the door and allowed me in. He had one of his guys go and grab me the needed washer. As the registers were closed for the evening he handed me a UPC code so that I can pay for the part the next time I am in the area. Thank you very much for the excellent customer service and for being a trusting person!

The selection here is extensive and the space ishuge. I really enjoyed the garden center as well. I’m giving 3 stars because this ace wouldn’t take ace rewards. It took 3 employees fiddling with the register and then comments like “well this rewards is under a business account” “I think it can only be used at this particular ace” and “I’ve never seen one this amount”. We told them up front that our father in law gifted his rewards to us and that not only does he use his rewards at different aces in different states for his business but we had recently used another reward he gifted us for $40 at another ace in Charlotte with no issue. They asked for my father in laws name, his phone number, his zip code then my husbands first and last name and still they couldn’t figure it out. The whole scenario was a bit embarrassing and made to be extremely complicated which was just so odd. We left our items and drove to the another ace and picked up the same items with the rewards card and had no issues. We even saw that a few of the same items were priced significantly lower. So it seems this particular ace just won’t be for us. As I said in the beginning, the selection here is great but the experience not so much. We’re new homeowners right in between two aces so we will just stick with the other one. 😬

This place is the best hardware store I have been to..Everyone in there was helpful and seemed happy to be at work. They were literally all smiling. The staff is conveniently placed around the store, so they are easy to find if you have questions. The store is very organized and clean. I found a specific kind of reader glasses there that I haven’t been able to find. I was impressed with the selection here and with the store in general. I’ll be coming back

GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE. Looking for an on line item was not having any luck, Christine an associate helped me research a trouble ticket and gave me suggestions for the purchase. When above and beyond and also followed me up 2 days later to make sure I was able to secure the item.

I am a long time customer of Blackhawk and always enjoy the “Wow” experience when I’m in the store. I always know I’ll discover something new which I didn’t intend to purchase, but had to have it. The staff is friendly and extremely knowledgeable, and it doesn’t matter if I am buying $2.34 of screws or $500 of power tools, they go out of their way to help.

This place has everything. Went in 9--3-18 and was able to get the specialty items I needed quickly due to the assistance of numerous knowledgeable and courteous staff. If you have the time,I advise coming in for an hour or so just to wander around and just see all the really cool items that are in stockThe only negative on this particular trip was the checkout. The cashier Holly wasnt as courteous as the others, more curt in speech. She might have just had a bad day, as anyone can. I hope that things are better for her and I look forward to my next trip there. They also had a cool vintage truck parked in front.

What ever you need in the way of hardware and garden, they carry. The newly expanded store is THE destination for any Charlotte area consumer. Note, variety and service is their strength but it will cost you!

We have been trying to get a replacement for the electronic igniter system for our Weber grill for some time. This part is made in China and Weber has had trouble getting parts. While @ the area we stopped by Blackhawk Hardware (where we purchased the grill) to check on the part. We got to speak to Andy, the owner of Blackhawk, and he immediately got things going. The parts had arrived and Andy assured us that Blackhawk would take care of us. The next day Chris from Blackhawk came over to our home. He installed the new igniter system, tested to make sure all was good, inspected the grill, and even repaired the side burner plunger igniter. And he did this quickly due to his skill and knowledge of the Weber grills. It is really refreshing to deal with a company like Blackhawk who stands by the products they sell and who does what they say they will do. We will continue to shop at Blackhawk whenever we can.

Its the only concierge-filled hardware store Ive ever experienced. Instead of wandering around a big box store looking for a widget ANY employee will direct you to the widget expert and concierge. If there are five things on your list, each concierge will take you to the next concierge and you can get all five things in the same amount of time it takes to walk one aisle of a big box store. Plus, theyre wonderful, friendly, knowledgeable folks.

Blackhawk Hardware is a landmark in Charlotte, North Carolina. I was born and raised in Charlotte, and Blackhawk has always been the best hardware store in town. You can find anything you need, as well as things you didn’t know you needed, in this store. The people are always welcoming, friendly, and don’t just point you in the direction of what you need, they take you there. Lastly, Christmas at Blackhawk is a dream come true! They have an ornament for any hobby, sport, or pass time you can imagine! Do yourself a favor, and make a trip to Blackhawk Hardware at Park Road Shopping Center.

Some of The Best customer service I’ve ever experienced! There was someone around every corner to assist me and they always politely asked if I needed help. Those times I did need help, the employees were very approachable and knowledgeable - I really enjoyed talking to them. I found some good products for a project of mine and had such a pleasant experience. There are so many “eye candy” things in the store too. Definitely will be back :)

The staff is knowledgeable and know the meaning ofcustomer service. The only reason that I didnt give them 5 stars is that some of the prices are a little steep - but you cant find products this good or get this kind of service at Lowes or Builders Square.

This hardware store has the absolute best service at any hardware store I have ever shopped in. In the last 20 years I have come to Charlotte I go to this friendly, wonderfully stocked store.Unlike the big box hardware stores, which I like, it does not have appliances and building materials, but rather a full array of items forand garden, well displayed.When you come in the door, a person will be there to ask you what do you are looking for. You not only will get a good direction, but when you go to any part of the store, you will also find asking if you need help.When I went.to the store today, I asked the employee sitting at the aisle at the entrance where I would find an item. He gave me directions and recommended a brand. Another assistant came by as I was having difficulty finding it, and he took me to it and confirmed it was the best choice. At checkout, the cashier praised the product, saying she had used it this morning.Help and advice always at the ready.
