Best donuts in the city. I’m not even going to comment which donuts here are my favorite because I don’t want them to be sold out. Iced coffee is excellent too!

We’ve had 🍩 doughnuts from coast to coast. These are so amazing. The base dough is springy, chewy but still light. The toppings are perfectly balanced. This is always a pit stops in Charlotte

These were some of the best donuts I have ever had! I ordered the 4 pack for delivery which was filled with their selection, and each was packed with flavor and great texture. The lemon poppyseed was my favorite, and I was hesitant about the mango habanero one at first, but the heat and sweet ratio was perfect.

The donuts themselves were light and not too greasy. However, the donuts do cost more than other donut places, so their donuts are a good treat once in a while, but not for a daily donut run.

Never in my life have I had a lemon poppyseed doughnut. This sets the bar!

Looking for tasty donuts this is a great spot to try. They have a nice variety to choose from. I chose the cookie butter donut for myself my daughter’s wanted a glazed and one with strawberry icing. I bought 4 for about $10. It was a nice treat.If you go morning hours it’s easy to find a spot to park for a morning donut run.

Went here with some people from out of town and I was very embarrassed to have brought them. $4 for one donut is just….why?!? We tried to be hopeful about them being worth it but all the donuts were very chewy, dry and didn’t have much flavor. After reading the reviews maybe if you’re vegan they’re really good but if you’re not vegan just go literally anywhere else because it’s definitely not worth it. Boston creme was especially bland!

Great bakery for doughnuts in Charlotte. We decided to try several varieties. All the family members enjoy the cookie dough doughnut followed by the strawberry one. These are fantastic and get those if in doubt.I wished they’d have a plain version or something that’s not quite as sweet but overall I’d go try them again.

Stopped by here while visiting a farmers market across the street. Donuts were amazingggg! Tea was also very good as well and freshly brewed lose leaf. Staff was friendly and definitely cared about the quality of their food. Would highly recommend checking them out if you are in the area!

Unique flavors, but pretty pricey. Nothing special about the yeast donut. I think we spent about $18 on 6...I wouldn’t say they are worth what we paid. Fancy fancy...we would definitely try other places before returning.

I’m vegan and the town that I just moved from literally had no vegan options. This was an awesome treat that I was so grateful for! I purchased the peach fritter, cookie butter, and glazed donuts and they were incredible!!!! The glazed was the best! Thanks pepperbox!

I went there earlier today, clerk accidentally didn’t hand me all three of the donuts I ordered instead I only had two when I got home. I called them and they immediately refunded me and also even offered to drive to my place and deliver the missing donut. Super amazing service. The donuts are amazing too- I got the apple fritter and the spiced plum! 10/10.

What I love: Fantastic doughnut selection, unique and fun flavors, almost TOO MANY vegan options ( just kidding but for real so many!) The vibe is fantastic, the owners are gems, all the staff seems happy, and not just like positive and smiling, but having fun while interacting with one another.Coffee rules, prices are super fair, I cant say enough good things about these people.

Overall experience was great.The bakery was very easy to find and get to. Located in uptown Charlotte next to a few resturants. Parking can be tough to find on a weekend, but if you look around a few side streets you can take a short walk over.The staff are very friendly and the shop is clean. There are plenty of different flavors of doughnuts with a handful of them being vegan. We purchased a dozen and are so excited to eat them over the week to come. Pricing is alright for most of the other unique doughnut shops around the city.Overall we had a great experience and cannot wait to go back!

In my opinion the best g#$ D@%N Doughnut in Charlotte!!! I sound very obese writing a google review about some doughnuts right now but man this place doesnt disappoint, a little pricey but worth every bite!

These donuts were divine. I love the slightly crisp, less sweet doughnut and the tastiness of the unique combinations, like olive oil and tangerine. The coffee was also delish, and it was nice that they had oat milk as an option.It was hard to find, tucked away in a corner, but keep looking! Its worth it.

I like the donut base itself, but all of the options we tried had incredibly sweet glazes and it was too much for me personally. The hibiscus jelly was the best because it did bring some of that tart to cut the sweetness. The blueberry was pretty good. I was disappointed that the pineapple didnt come through in the bacon donut, though. Great staff and atmosphere.

Overall the shop is a good idea. But not well executed at all. The donuts are crazy overpriced, the taste is not on par with the price you pay, and the customer service could absolutely improve. Will not be returning.

Really good doughnuts! Charlotte has a pretty good variety of doughnut shops and this place adds more to the competition. They have really good combinations from mango habanero (not that spicy) to Oreo cheesecake and they have have vegan options and pet friendly doughnuts as well!

Way too expensive. 3 doughnuts an orange juice at over $15. The independent and edgy has become the stuffy and bourgeois.

Man man man, these donuts are out of this world! The donut holes and the donuts are just amazing, my personal favorite is their cinnamon donuts and their glazed donut holes. I warm those two up and my taste buds flourish. This deserves more than a 5 star review. Pepperbox donuts I’m glad to have you in my life. This place is worth trying

Really great shop with EARLY HOURS!(unlike others). Interesting flavors and those doughy chewy donuts that I love. We tried the hibiscus cream, strawberry poppy seed, blueberry frosted, chocolate toffee, and classic glaze. I’ll be here often!

The vegan Doughnuts are soooo delicious! I just wish you could pick your own flavors instead of the chef handpicked ones but overall, they are delicious! Would definitely reccomend.

Half of the donuts were good. Dog donuts were not recieved well by 2 dogs that arent picky eaters. Staff was rude. Spent over $30 and not worth it.

The donuts are amazing especially the traditional glaze. The Brown butter sage is also a hit, although its a speciality doughnut and might not always be offered. I would agree that some speciality flavors with the flavor in the icing only can be a little bland, but I personally like the taste of their doughnut dough. Side bar: Madison is an amazing, kind-hearted, employee as well and greets all with a smile!

Very friendly! I was so happy to learn most were vegan and they were so tasty. I did struggle to find the entrance so more signage would be helpful or at least suggestion to google maps.

This store is nice. The employees are nice. But, unfortunately, that is where my good experience ended. These donuts are terribly overpriced. Unfortunately I expected a reasonable price so I did not question the cost. I ended up paying an embarrassing amount for a dozen donuts!! Check your prices before buying. and Im not ultraconservative with my money. So crazy. I decided it was my mistake for not questioning the price and moved forward out the door. Alas, I cannot hold my tongue when I tasted them and they lacked true flavor. The Boston cream is a disappointment... so heavy and no true flavor. The best ones are the apple fritters... I might give those two stars. We have not tried the glazed yet. Ill update IF those amaze me.

I went at 1pm and the vegan donuts were nearly sold out, and rightfully so...I enjoyed my donuts and would definitely go back. The young lady in front (I wish I had asked for her name), she was very pleasant.

Charlotte has been in need of an excellent doughnut shop... and they finally got one! We have tried all the local bakeries and these are definitely the best we have had in the Charlotte area.

I am a big fan of crazy donuts, so when I went in to Pepperbox and saw all the crazy flavor combinations I got really excited. I am sad to report that despite the fun combination of flavors on top, the donuts themselves were unbelievably bland. Our donuts tasted like sandwich bread with just a little bit of flavor on top. The services was nice though, but I would avoid for now.

Overall, overpriced and dry donuts - though it is nice that they have a lot of vegan options. The maple bourbon, glazed, and Boston cream were not good. They were dry and bland. The milk chocolate caramel and lemon poppyseed donuts were very good though! I would not purchase donuts from here again sadly.

I had tried Pepperbox several time when they did popups at Red Clay so I was really excited for their brick and mortar shop to open. My coworker picked up a dozen for us to try.Unfortunately for me as someone who doesnt like chocolate, most of their flavors are chocolate. There were three specialty flavors that werent chocolate: strawberry poppyseed, malted blueberry, and miso caramel. I sampled some of each of them.The base donut was really good. They are yeast donuts which are so much better than cake donuts. I do wish the flavors were stronger because the the specialty flavor didnt come through much. The miso caramel was my favorite and it had the strongest flavor.I think some of the flavors arent available right when they open because she got there right at 7 and I saw additional flavors later in the day.I definitely want to come back and try some of the best flavors! These are some of my favorite donuts in Charlotte.

Girl at the front counter was pretty rude. Didn’t appreciate that. We got doughnuts anyway, the toppings were good but the rest of the doughnut was kind of dry and pretty bland.

I love these doughnuts!! There would have been a picture, but I ate the doughnut and it was so good it made me forget about taking a photo. They also do Sunday Doughnut Specials, which are a nice change of pace. Today was a Raspberry Jam Powdered doughnut and it was delicious. I highly recommend them and if you want to see a preview of the Sunday doughnut, you should follow them on Instagram.

Fresh and unique doughnuts in a nice area of Charlotte. Seats are outside to enjoy your snack. Coffee is fresh! Nice staff. Will come by again!

I dont like doughnuts. But I love Pepperbox Doughnuts. Theyre by far the best in Charlotte -- great selection of alternating flavors, and their staff is friendly and informative. Try the artisanal sodas-- amazing!

I keep ordering from Uber eats and have yet to be disappointed. I have learned however the key is to order early in the morning because the afternoon just seems to be the same batches from early on. I can understand that though, fantastic nonetheless

I placed a special order of doughnuts to be picked up at 6 am the morning of my wifes birthday (outside of normal business hours). Keyana, the FOH manager was beyond accommodating and very responsive from beginning to end (and even beyond)!The gentleman that I dealt with the morning of picking up the order was super nice, attentive, and responsive.Obviously, if you have had these doughnuts, you know they are the best in the city. But, now I can attest that the customer service is some of the best in the city as well. Kudos to the Pepperbox team!

For a yeast donut these were way too dense. It felt like I was trying to chew a bagel. The flavors were non existent. I got a mixed dozen and I couldn’t even taste a difference in flavor in any of them, utterly flavorless. I am a die-hard donut lover so I was extremely disappointed after hearing good things about this place.

Doughnut lovers, please understand this isnt Krispy Kreme. Youre getting quality here. At $2 a doughnut, choose wisely because one is filling. I like how some of their doughnuts are seasonal based on ingredients and each Sunday they have a special doughnut of the day . I mean there arent many cinnamon, maple, bourbon doughnuts calling your name in Charlotte, and what other place makes their strawberry glaze with real strawberries? What I appreciated as well about these doughnuts is that they are mostly vegan. Dont let this turn you off, its nice to try new things and the sweet, savory factor is still here to enjoy.What I will say is they are quite heavy even though the strawberry wasnt a cake doughnut, it was not light and fluffy . The flavor in the icing is no doubt the part that saves this doughnut, most of the time you can eat a doughnut in one sitting, but I found this one could be saved in parts to enjoy and still taste just as good. It appears there are some crowd favorites here. The blueberry filled blueberry pie, the cinnamon bourbon, the glazed original, and a few others that were sold out . I will definitely venture here again if Im craving a unique doughnut treat, that sea salt and chocolate is calling my name .Love coffee with your doughnuts? They brew fresh pots here and have flavored syrups as well.If youre a pet owner, you can also splurge on a fresh baked doggie donut treat at $1, a lil overpriced for the size but I get it (homemade and natural ingredients).Yummy sweet treat and friendly, fast service is a perfect blend .

The peach fritter was summertime sweet. Quick in and out. Love the digital pay option. Im gonna avoid this place for the safety of my diet. Sweet sweets! Oh and the doughnut flavors are very nontraditional.

Such a cute doughnut and coffee shop. Cool area of town. The doughnuts, though! Thank goodness I dont live next door because I would be sorely tempted to eat there for every meal! Their doughnut base is vegan, so the majority are vegan. There were just a few that had non vegan glazes or toppings. They range in price from $1-3. I got the Black Onyx Raspberry and my husband got the Malted Blueberry. There both fantastic. The doughnuts are light and airy and the glazes are to die for!

A really great shop. The donuts are thick, unique, and delicious. I bought a variety dozen and was impressed with each one. The woman at the counter was friendly, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic. Prices are a bit high, but to be expected for the location. They could also use to clearly label which donuts are $18/dozen and which are $27/dozen.

You can tell a lot of thought and creativity went into creating this doughnuts, and I like the texture and after-taste much better than a typical doughnut.The staff is super friendly--greeting me as I came in--and quickly responded to my requests with a smile. Ive been back multiple times, and each time the atmosphere was warm, welcoming, and had a local business feel.I highly recommend Pepperbox Doughnuts. One pro tip, get there early! The early bird gets the worm here.

I got these for my bosss birthday and they were a hit. I ordered the chefs choice dozen on their web site. They were ready for pick up at the requested time and they wrote the name of each kind of doughnut on the lid, which was perfect. They were so delicious and everyone had fun trying all of the different kinds. Definitely will be going there again.

Pepperbox delivers specialty doughnuts at decent prices. These arent mass-produced, so its unrealistic to expect to pay a dollar for a doughnut-- outside of a plain glazed. Specialty doughnuts here are around $3 each, sometimes accompanying coffee for a promotional deal. The staff clearly labels which doughnuts are vegan (dairy-free and egg-free), and the location is active on social media, updating followers on which specialty doughnuts are featured each weekend. These doughnuts are, for sure, a treat! :)The only thing I would change would be to update the menu on the website regularly, so that it would be easier to order them to-go, knowing which flavors were available daily, as dairy-free options change, rather than to order a variety. However, with how often the menu and stock of doughnuts changes, that could be difficult, so I understand why they dont do that.

Just discovered this place today. I am a big fan of apple fritters and this morning they had peach fritters (I have never seen those before). It was exceptional and very fresh. It was made with fresh local peaches and you could tell. I might stop by tomorrow on my walk and get another!

SO excited to have this place! They have amazing vegan doughnuts, and I seriously try to go every weekend. They do sell out early, so definitely go earlier in the day to make sure you can get one!

Quite possibly the best glazed donut I have ever had the privilege of putting in my mouth. Wow! Soft but with plenty of bounce, and the flavor of the dough goes on for days. Really nice people too. My wife really enjoyed the nitro coffee.

I went there yesterday for the first time and it was amazing. I practically inhailed the donuts they were so good. I also got the drink that had the butterfly tea in it as well and it was so good. Not only is the food great but the staff there as well were awesome and treated each other in such a nice manor. I will be back!

First time me & my husband tried Pepperbox Doughnuts & we’re very pleased. Saw the place on yelp & decided to give it a try. We got a variety of flavors from their specialty doughnuts to their classic doughnuts. Every flavor we got tasted delicious, I was even surprised that the strawberry one tasted so fresh & not artificial. The only thing I would say is that it is a tad bit expensive for just doughnuts.

The flavor choices were all enticing, but the actual doughnut base was the star of show. So chewy and soft and delicious. Also the lemon in the lemon poppyseed doughnut was was amazingly fresh. A must try if you are in the Charlotte area!

Great variety of vegan, fried doughnuts!

The donuts did not taste that fresh, the flavors were all very good, but the main part tasted a bit old.

These are the best donuts that I have had in the Charlotte area. I highly recommend the Carmel topped donut and the original glaze is also very good. The place can be a little on the expensive side but you get what you pay for. The donut was puffy and very rich. Be ready for a sugar coma.

For us it was just ok not really worth it. We don’t mind paying that price but we have had better the customer service was Blah

My new favorite donut. Tried the glaze and the horchata (?). Doughnuts are thick, heavy and chewy, very filling and substantial, not overly greasy or sweet. The price point is exactly right.Look forward to returning for more and trying the coffee as well.

Go early because they sellout quick! Transitioning from a pop-up only to having a full time location. Donuts and service are great! Can walk around the neighborhood and have some fun. Catch the lightrail and go uptown or wherever!

I should have done more research before getting donuts from here. I was unaware they were made from yeast dough. I am not a fan of those kinds of donuts. Surprisingly my favorite flavor was the plain glaze. I will say they tasted a little better after being heated up in the microwave. I dont think Ill be returning.
