Saw Dr Kalyzny (he is only there Fridays) for an annual eye exam and contact lens prescription. He and every technician/nurse who helped with each step were incredibly kind and thorough. The facility is very nice/clean and there was a nice selection of glasses to choose from, better options than Lenscrafters.

Update for fairness:The nurse manager (I think it was, apologies) called me just before they closed apologized for the delay on my prescription and told me she made sure it got called in. She also wanted to let me know, from the doctor, that I could call or even come in w/o an appointment if I needed anything. Thanks for following up.I suffered from a scratched cornea on a Tuesday night and was referred to a cornea specialist here by an eye doctor at my appointment on Wednesday. I was told I needed to see the specialist urgently as my vision could be affected long term. I called once around 3 pm on Weds and they said they would call when the referral came over but it hadnt yet and that they were very good about calling as soon as the referral comes in.I called again on Thursday morning, and again on Thursday around lunch to check back in (again the Dr. said this was an urgent issue). No referral had come in. I get a call around 2:30 (I would later confirm that my referral had come in around 9 am) from this office that says I need to come in immediately to see a Dr. I tell them I need to call back in 20 mins to arrange transportation. I call back 20 mins later and she needs to make sure the Dr. can see me still. On this call I ask the cost w/o insurance and she tells me $200. I arrive 20 minutes later, go to check in and the person checking me in asks Were you made aware of the cost? which I told her we had discussed it but asked what it would be and she avoided my question. Then she later goes on to tell me it will be $280. She makes a call and we settle on $220. Glad to know were making up numbers.Fast forward, I get checked in by a nurse. I then proceeded to wait for the doctor for 1 hour and 45 minutes. I decided it was best for me to go schedule an appointment and leave, as I am sitting there in pain and with no update at all. Of course I am standing in line to checkout and leave when someone comes to tell me that the Dr. can see me now. The doctor goes on to give me some sample antibiotic drops (thanks) and tells me I need to be vigilant with the drops and the cream he is prescribing me to prevent damage to my cornea. This was yesterday. This brings me to now, where the pharmacy still has not received my prescription for this cream that the Dr. has told me was urgent and would affect my long term healing. I have called three times today, and on the last one I was assured that the prescription would be called in, in time to be picked up today. To me it seems like the only urgent thing about this place was getting my credit card in their machine. The rest has been completely useless and lets just hope my health isnt affected by their lack of urgency or basic ability to do what they say.

First time I have ever gone to an optometrist in my life. There was about a 20 to 30 minute wait for my appointment, but that is to be expected with anything in the health care field. The staff was very amiable. The doctor was a laugh. The tech was kind. I ordered reading glasses and they came in two weeks. I am unable to comment on whether if that is a quick or long turn around as I don’t have any prior experience to gauge it with. The experience was overall a good one. Five stars.

If you have read the reviews, then you my assume I got the same story!! They overbook, wait time with appointments 2 to 3 hrs. I felt like cattle in a box, Dr. Joseph Krug would put the problem of the overbooking on the front desk/his staff, but you knew he wanted/at lease okay with the arrangement. I would assume that he and Horizon raked in more money as a result. If they cancel your appointment and you dont reschedule within their call, they counted it as a miss appointment on you. They got to a point where they could not manage my glaucoma disease, so they started to say I was not taking my meds. I was later dropped by Dr. Joseph Krug as a patient.

Barely got a chance to finish asking him all the questions wanted to ask.He then gets up and says any further questions I can direct them to his assistant. Whom btw when asked a question she says… Oh .. that’s a question for the Dr….Really….I didn’t not feel like a patient who was cared for nor my concerns . But ultimately coming almost an hour to this appt and only being able to see the Dr for 2 mins…I made this my last visit. I will be moving on to someone who has time for their patients…

Eye care is more probably the most important care for the human body. Waiting does not bother me if it means good eye care. Grow up! Not sure how I feel about Horizon any more. I have been a patient and my husband has been a patient there for over 8 years. I think Dr. Krugg is an incredible surgeon. The staff at the office (in the Atrium) are lacking. The inability of the surgeons (my husband has multiple issues that could potentially result in being blind) do not confer with each other. This is NOT an acceptable approach. The recent COVID situation has made things worse. I was not allowed to advocate for my husband and if I had not pushed to discuss his situation with his surgeon (Dr. Rosen) we would have been given incomplete medical advice that could have been life altering. Very scary! Not sure what I will be doing going forward.

Dr. Hunter Stolldorf was my LASIK surgeon. He is fantastic. In my appointments leading up to the procedure, he educated me about the process in addition to directing me to online resources to see videos outlining the procedure. He is extremely detail-oriented, confident, and an expert at what he does. During the actual procedure, he and his entire team took extremely good care of me. Even through any discomfort I felt completely safe and comfortable every step of the way. Its an added bonus that he is an awesome and likeable person, so every visit was an utterly positive experience.Be prepared for pain during the few hours after the procedure. After 3/4 hours the pain subsided for the most part. Listen and follow all the instructions they give you in the post-procedure care, and you will be fine!In the healing process I had some halos around lights and dryness, as expected, but all symptoms have gone away and I am left with a perfect result. My contact lens prescription before I elected to have this surgery was -6.25 and now my vision is even better than 20/20.Thank you so much Dr. Stolldorf, and thank you to every single technician, specialist, and receptionist who made this a top-notch experience. My wife went in today to get an updated test done on her glaucoma for surgery because the one she did last year in August was expired after 6 months and had to be redone. Her appointment was for 9am but we did not get there till 9:06am. My wife checked in and about 25 minutes later they called her back. I went with her as they took us to another waiting room in the back. From there we went in and spoke to I assuming an assistant of the eye doctor. My wife had an extensive test done on her as after all her tests she was not able to see for a while. From there we were told to go to another different waiting room and we did. From there I noticed how this was done to everybody who was there but it did bothered me to see so many older folks doing the same thing. Going room to room and it was so crowded. So the third room I mentioned this to my wife about how they operate there business shuffling people to waiting room to waiting room. A normal conversation between husband and wife and the assistant stepped out quickly only to return with the eye doctor. Doc came in and stated it seems you have some concerns. I explained to her we do not but that it seemed odd that all these people would have to travel to approximately 4 different waiting rooms and that I felt bad for the older folks trying to navigate all over the place. Then she stated I do not feel comfortable doing surgery on your wife. I then stated this is my opinion and not that of my wife. Nevertheless she stated I will not be doing the surgery and that we must find another doctor. WoW that is crazy.......

The place needs to learn how to schedule more efficiently. It is not only the wait in the waiting room but once you get to one of the backrooms, there is at minimum 30 min wait there as well. For those of us who work, this is very inconvenient. I gave up trying to get my glasses here ... that is always an extra hour and I can go someplace else, be seen quickly and insurance still covers. I was told that they had seen an emergency and were behind, yet they did not have the courtesy to call me and tell me to come later. The waiting room has been packed every time I have an appointment. The last straw today after waiting an hour and a half was to hear the doctor in a room across the hall finish up with that patient and then launch into a lengthy discussion of his recent reading list. It was not the patient speaking, it was the doctor rambling on. I then decided tonleave and look for a more organized practice that will respect me and my time.

If I could give this place a 0, I would! I had an appointment scheduled for this morning at 8:00am, that I scheduled two weeks ago! A week ago,I received a appointment confirmation email for my appointment at 8am. I went into my appointment today at 8am and I was told they could not find my appointment that I received a confirmation for and they have been having issues with their email system. So, why dont they take out time to call their patients and confirm the appointments. I traveled two hours from college for this appointment! And Im highly upset!

My wife’s appointment was at 2:20. After a 57 minutes wait, they dialate her eyes, then put her back in the waiting room. It is now 4:24 with no movement in site. In any other business, and healthcare is BIG business, would the customers put up with such horrendous service. Until patients start impacting physician practices by demanding better services by not going to the practice and therefore, hitting the physicians, administrations and hospitals in the pocket book, nothing will change. 4:32, moved to examination room waiting for Dr. Bieber.I wonder how many patients each physician tries to see per hour and if the time designated on the charts equates to how they are billing their patients and Medicare. In other words, as each procedure has an amount of necessary time designated by Medicare, how many hours should these physicians have to work each day to justify their Billings. The waiting room here is packed still at 4:33. Is this practice trying to give outstanding healthcare or is it just trying to generate outstanding profits? This looks like it is all about the money, to me. Dr. Bieber arrived at 4:44 and DI apologize for the delay. He was the first person to say anything concerning the wait.Whoever it is that is making the decisions about how this place is managed, either the company or the physicians owners, they are definitely more concerned with their position ($$$$$$$$$$$) than with the patient. Please do not equate a packed waiting room in any doctors office with the quality of care provided. A packed waiting room means that the intent of the practice is that the patient waits for the physician so that the physician can see more patients, have higher billings, and that the practice can make more money. I caution everyone I know about Horizon, as their Dr. Miriam Ridley blinded me! I was experiencing a Macular Hole problem in my right eye. Required delicate surgery. Instead of improving the situation, she managed to blind me in my right eye. She was both unskilled and untrained - found out later that she was trained in Canada instead of the U.S. Avoid Horizon Eye Care at all costs!

I came in without an appointment on a Saturday. I had my eyeglasses shattered into my eye by a piece of wood while helping a friend in his garage. They were quick to see me, checked my eye for glass, numbed it, and put in an antibiotic contact lens. The next day, I can see with minimal pain.Thank you very much! I was in terrible pain and you helped me a lot!

This place sucks, but the internet is a marvelous thing - just learn from my mistake and Google another place to go! Even though I had an appointment, I waited several hours. The waiting room wasnt even that full. This seems to be the norm. Front desk staff is rude. I wanted to pick out new glasses, but by the time we got to that point my eyes were dilated, my head spinning (went there originally for chronic migraines), and I was starving as it was well past lunch. I told them to just update the lenses in my old frames, b/c I was in no position to look through a room of new frames. They told me it would be a week before I received my glasses, so I have spent the past week and a half straining my eyes. I called in on Friday to see if they were ready, as they said they would be, but they werent. I called again Monday, still not ready. Left a VM Tuesday (today) and still havent heard back. Places Ive been to in the past have been faster, friendlier, and provided me with new glasses the day I arrive. The fact that they sent me home after that long wait with no way to see and havent even had the decency to follow up with me is ridiculous. Since theyre not open after business hours, I will have to take off work to pick up my glasses if and when they are ever ready.....

Dont waste your time. The staff and especially the receptionist (a elderly Caucasian lady) are extremely rude and unprofessional. They scheduled my appointment for the wrong day and then when I asked if I could change the day or wait they said absolutely not and wouldnt even give me a sample as I was on my last pair of contacts. Using a very loud and sarcastic tone said oh no I cant do that! like I was crazy. Me being in the service industry I pride myself on customer service and this was just ridiculous in my opinion.

I had one really bad examination, one bad prescription two sets of lenses made by non-Horizon lensmakers. Both sets were equally bad. I went back to Horizon who re-examined me and wrote a new prescription. I chose to have Horizon make the lenses. They came back bad. In an attempt to make the lenses usable, they bent the metal frames. That didnt work. I had another examination. The optometrist asked me a lot of questions that I couldnt answer (Im not an optometrist). When I told her that I wasnt going to answer any questions about previous Horizon examinations because I had no idea what was done, she became upset, said that she couldnt work with my bad attitude, and left.Enter another male optometrist. I told him the same thing: Dont ask me any questions. You are the optometrist, not I. He makes me go out to the parking wearing adjustable diopters. I could see fine through those lenses. Fine, a new set of lenses would be made to those specifications.I get the new lenses back, and one eye is off. Apparently, they made the prescription to another set of old glasses that I couldnt really see out of--- the glasses that i was replacing! The say that they made another set of lenses, but they were the same lenses. The guy in the fitting room (or whatever it is) took me back out to the parking lot to look through the adjustable diopters. The diopters were supposedly the same that I looked through the first time, but I couldnt see out of them. The guy suggested that my eyesight had changed (in a week?). Besides, he said the glasses were off only about 1/4 of a diopter, which he said I shouldnt even notice. (Wrong. Im a pro photographer. I know better). After five or six visits, three lens makers, three (or four) examinations, and SIX MONTHS I still have no glasses. I gave the lenses back. A month later, I got a bill AND a CC statement on the same day. The CC was credited for some things, but Horizons statement indicated that I still owed $225.00.I called and got a recording telling me to leave a message and someone would call me ASAP. It has been a week, but no one has returned my call.I checked with my insurance company and learned that Horizon hadnt refunded money back to the insurance company after a month.Avoid this circus. They charge too much for their crummy looking glasses. (I have frameless glasses, and they wanted to charge $379.00 for progressive lenses--- no frame!). I have grave doubts about their optometrists and whoever makes their lenses. AVOID AVOID AVOID!

On my first visit as new patient for an eye exam, waiting 1 1/2 hours past appointment time & still did not see doctor. Had to leave because of other commitments. Made second appointment a few days later to finish exam with doctor. Made early morning appointment when office opened so there would be no wait (per front desk). For this second half of exam, waited an hour before I was with doctor. Very disappointed with service. Will not be returning.

I made the mistake to go to Horizon Eye Care on Sharon Amity and they were just terrible. I paid $170 for an eye exam, which ended up being done by a technician straight out of college and not even the proper eye doctor. I kept trying to explain to the young lady what my actual problem was but she didnt listen at all. You wait forever for your consultation with the doctor and then they rush you out as soon as possible to see to the next person. Awful service and I do regret going there and wasting my money.

Ive been going to this particular eye care Horizon branch for the last 4 or 5 years. Never had a problem until my last visit. The receptionist, wait time, doctors staff all were fine until the checkout.I was told I had to pay for the contact lenses exam, insurance does not cover the exam. I explained I had VSP (something new I received and forgot to mention at the front reception) I showed her my VSP card, she gave me a dead stare and said we only have one insurance provider on your account I asked to have VSP applied and was told thats something you have to do at the time of entry at the reception. I know she could have done this, I believe she was being a bit lazy about it.Other than that this Horizon branch is a bit above average in eye care from my experience.

Arrived 20 minutes prior to appt. for Pre-op cataract surgery. Was immediately taken into finance office so Ms. Patel could collect surgery co-pay. I had an issue with that as I had not yet consented to any surgery, had signed no paperwork, etc.... Next I was herded into an area for special testing which admitted to being about 40 minutes behind schedule. Luckily, I didnt have to wait that long, but while waiting, it appeared the entire staff was running around with confused looks on their faces as if they were all lost. In the midst of my special testing, the technicians decided to switch off. WTF!! I get in to the surgery scheduler and she was the only one that seemed to have any sense, compassion, and honesty. I was supposed to meet with the doc prior to scheduler, but understand that they switched things up because he had a few emergencies, which I have no problem with. I get in to see the Doc 2+ hours later, have conversation, decide on replacement lens, then herded back to scheduler to finish up the paperwork. So here Ive chosen a specialty lens that will cost quite a bit more than the norm, walk up front to pay my office co-pay and for the lens, and the lazy a$$ fat woman says she cant take my Care Credit Card because it doesnt have the VISA logo. She said Id have to go somewhere else to pay with that card, however, she didnt bother to tell me where I needed to go and who I needed to see. So....after a 3 hour ordeal in this chaotic place and a 50 mile round trip, 4 hours missed of work, who knows if Ill even have the surgery as the paperwork says it will be canceled if specialty lenses are paid for in advance. Maybe fat a$$ would like the charges taken out of her pay. Ive never been in an establishment that was so out of sorts and to have someone too damn lazy to take $1K that someone was trying to pay them. If your optometrist suggests Horizon, I would stongly suggest you ask for an alternative because these people are obviously not the professional quality one expects. I cant comment on the doc, as he just pops in and out in about 5 - 10 minutes. The rest of the appointment time, youre at the mercy of a bunch of clowns.

Horrible experience. My child is very sensitive to chemicals and medicines. I made an appt for a stye that was diagnosed at an urgent care. When we arrived my copay was taken and we were made to wait 30 minutes past my appt time. Then when finally called basic eye checks were done. After that long wait, long vision test and waiting on everything to be typed in we were told hed need to be chemically dialated. This was all relayed by a tech no doctor. We asked to see what was in the dialating drops and were not given any packet insert. Next we were told that he HAD to be dialated to be even seen by the doctor even though his issue is an exterior stye. We said we didnt want to dilate unless we saw and could talk to the doctor first. We were then made to wait longer and finally a nurse came in and said take the dilation or the doctor wouldnt come in. At this point the strong arm approach had completely turned us off so we declined. The doctor would not even come in. Not even come discuss the chemical with us or even look at my childs stye for the re evaluation we had just paid for. We missed school all for this ridiculous head strong experience and lack of care for my childs well being. This man obviously isnt a doctor because he cares about children if a strong arm approach is more important than the patient.
