Wouldnt go there looking for back issues of anything, but presumably the owner, operating the shop was found to be very very knowledgeable about the comics industry, titles, & storylines, but then he also provided exemplary customer service as well. to everyone i saw in there. didnt get any ice cream myself, but the customers who did seemed quite pleased with their purchases, so if you are just looking for ice cream in the area, you might check them out just for that. & despite not having back issues as i had hoped, it was quite nice to find someone as extremely informed about comics both current & past, & so readily forthcoming with interesting information. totally a worthwhile trip before even factoring in the birthday present i bought there, also...

A wonderful comic book shop! My daughter and I go twice a week to play Dungeons and Dragons. The ice cream is absolutely delicious too!

Neat little comic shop that also has pinball machines and sells ice cream! A fun stop on our journey between Greensboro and Greenville.

The people at this place are just FANTASTIC. So friendly, and super knowledgeable. We love taking our Pokemon Team to events here. Love the fact that I can get ice cream here, and sit out on the bench and enjoy the weather. They have some great flavors of ice cream- my favorite is butter pecan.

They have ice cream to eat--which you do without a mask, but you cant get in without a mask. They didnt even say hello before asking about if we had our face thongs.

The staff was very friendly. We had a good time playing the pinball machines, perusing the comics and games. The staff tried to warn us that the Superman ice-cream was very different and we didnt listen. Our daughter didnt like it. Not their fault we didnt listen, they tried.

Super cool local spot that is a bit under the radar. Comics, games, and ice cream. Weekly tournament and game nights. The folks here are always friendly and helpful. Definitely worth stopping by if youre in the area.

This is a quaint comic book shop for the neighborhood and community that it serves. I have no complaints with it the customer service on Parr is very engaging.

Awesome place!! My 9 year old really likes Pokemon but no nearby kids play. Found this spot on the internet. The owner himself showed my kid the ropes of the game. Free play session is well run also. 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽

Great ice cream and helpful staff

I dropped by to play Magic for one of the Saturday Standard Showdowns (free entry!). I loved the store. The shop was a little small compared to the others I have been to, but the staff was excellent and attentive organizing the tournament. They also have ice cream so I got a cherry soda float which was awesome. Bring a play mat if you come to play cards, and their selection of singles is very limited, but they are desirable cards. I plan to visit again.

This store has some of the friendliest staff Ive met. My wife has limited knowledge of comic books and they made sure to spend time with her educating and recommending books to start out on based off her interests.Will definitely continue to support!

This is a fun little comic book store. They have ice cream, pin ball machines, magic and pokemon cards, comics, board games, and even some action figure and comic themed items that are fun to see.Check their schedule for magic tournaments and Pokemon tournaments. They are a great place to hang out and have fun.

Spandex City is a fabulous comic book store. The personnel is nice and knowledgeable, really helpful, and they organize tons of super cool events. Ivery much recommend it!

The staff was quite rude. The selection was subpar. A lot was left to be desired namely air conditioning and even slightly competent staff. They made me pay a convenience fee for a shopping experience that was anything but convenient. Over all I hope more than anything that I can make good choices in life that will never bring me to such a horrible store.

Ive been going ever since I was six and they have never disappoint.

Been going here for almost 4 years now. Great people working here. They take the time to learn your name. They always are able to order any new books I want in the future. They keep me up to date with any new titles I may be interested in. When they do special events and are giving out free products the owner has made sure to give me products that he knows I will be interested in. The ice cream is great. Even though I dont play the card games everyone who does play them really seem to be enjoying themselves when I happen to come by on their game days. If you want a nice family friendly environment, or just want to go in and grab the newest books available, I definitely recommend checking out this store.

This was my first time here. It was not at all what I was expecting but I was pleasantly surprised. The cashier was very nice and knowledgeable. He has secured a customer for life!

Always helpful, friendly, and willing to chat about comics. Not pushy with sales but will go the extra mile - for example offering to add other linked books to a current sub if they’re integral to the main story, so you get the whole experience of the event. This is the way small businesses should be run, I will definitely support with my money in the future

I love love love this comic book shop. I just hate that its so far away from my house. I got comics there for a long time and everyone there was really helpful and knowledgeable and just generally interested in storylines you were interested in. If I lived a little closer Id be there all the time.

Was an OK comic shop. I felt like it was more for the casual collector/reader as they had no back stock and only had comics from the past month or so. The person working was very nice but again the store is more for talking about comics than the comics themself. The comics took up around 20% of the store and thats counting trades. The rest was board games, toys, and the ice cream parlor. Still a nice place to go.

Smaller shop with a blend of games and comics. Mostly current issues with a small population of trades. Games play more to the favorites and there a few tables out for community play. The ice cream looked good.

Spandex city is THE comic book store in west Charlotte. Very polite people, always a joy to visit. Jeremy and Victoria both get 👍👍.

Great customer service! We came in looking for mtg land cards and they gave us some for free because they had extra. They do weekly tournaments, and the Saturday ones are free to enter

The owners are great people and treat their customers excellent. They spend extra time and attention to my daughter which is very nice since she does not read comics. The selection is nice and the account/comic hold system is great. The only real negative is that they do not have older comics and only deal in new product as far as I can tell. A++++ store and ownership!

Definitely love coming here every week for a good ol DnD session. Always fun and everyone knows everyone, were just just a big friend group. The atmosphere is great the selection of stuff they have is great. They have DnD every Wednesday from 7-9 and you can always come early and hang in the store. I love going early with my friend and getting some rounds of MTG in before the night starts.

Smaller stock of comics here, not many TPB’s or Hardcovers, but great selection of Absolute Editions. No Pops. Picked up Absolute Dark Knight, which made my night. Mostly a gaming store. Friendly staff, well decorated interior and very clean and new. Oh, and there’s ice cream. Worth visiting.

The layout of the store is fantastic, and the owner is really interactive with his customers. I only wish I had more money for all the great things he has available. His selection is hands down one of the best Ive see outside of online retailer. Thanks for the great interaction, if Im ever in town again Ill be sure to stop by.

I love coming here. Although its not as big as some of the more well known stores, Ive always appreciated the selection they have and taking with the staff.

My 10 yr old enjoys Pokemon play time and meeting all aged players. Prices for play time and items for sale very reasonable. They also have ice cream.

Great comic book store. They also have card game items. Operators are incredibly nice. My son enjoys going here for the Pokémon TCG battles. The other customers weve met have all been friendly as well!

So much fun!! Pokemon was played, conversations had, smiles provided, and a spot of ice cream.

I took my nephew in to get some ice cream and the guy, with no gloves on took a spoon got him a spoonful of it. He didnt wash his hands or anything. We didnt get the icecream.

This is a great store with excellent, friendly customer service all the time. No, they dont have too many back issues but they will order them for you if you ask. You can also go on their website and preorder whatever you want. They really focus on new comics, the subscription service and the lounge where they host games. You dont have to pay extra for bags and boards & they have incentives and discounts for repeat customers. I cant say enough good things about Spandex City.

I love this place. I havent been for years but recently went back for a magic prerelease and felt like I was right back at home. Everyone who works here treats you like a friend. Every event is ran professionally. I constantly reccomend it to people for comics or magic.

The staff at Spandex City Comics are outstanding theyre right there ready to help you any way they can.For instance on my last visit I bought two Heroclix that I collect, the ones I got I didnt want but one of the employees did he had bought some before work and let me trade for the two I wanted. I have no beef with this store. They have a decent mix of comics, games and collectibles and while it isnt huge, they had some good stuff. As I went on a Saturday, they had some kind of tournament going on so seems to be good for kids, too. I was looking for Munchkin expansions specifically and while they didnt have the one I wanted, they had more than a few.

Staff not very friendly. Stop by with my kids for ice-cream and I think the two ladies need to work on customer service. As a local shop, I would think the owner would appreciate the business coming in....did not feel like they did today.

Good staff and friendly. Second time here for mtg prerelease tournament. Not likely to return, though, as they dont allow you to bring drinks of any kind. Bad idea when your customers are going to be there for 4 hours or more. Trying to make a forced buck on soda sales to a captured audience is tacky to say the least.

Combination comic and ice cream shop is pretty dope. Owner was nice and accommodating to various requests I had during a 9 hour magic tournament.

Halfway decent selection, nice people. Maybe not the place to look for more obscure collector pieces, but they have the stock superheroes covered.

The store has a friendly feel with a good mixture of game activities and comics. There are Pokémon camps for younger players and a variety of other game events for both adults and teens including Heroclix and Friday Night Magic. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and the owners are helpful and can find just about anything you want ordered. Great neighborhood entertainments option with people who love the hobbies as much as their customers.

Although it did look like a nice shop I didnt like the organization. Also called about a book and the girl on the phone said they had it and would hold. Drove 30 mins out of the way to get to the store and find out they didnt have it. Very dissapointing and have not been back since.

I have been going to FCBD (free comic book day) every year for quite some time. Typically I buy my comics, figures, games, etc online but its nice to go out and support local shops every once and a while too. I just moved to the area down here in NC, and I was looking for a Comic Shop locally to perhaps purchase from every once and a while...with FCBD being a test day to see how it went. At first I thought this place was awesome! Unlike some people, I also buy items on FCBD as well to make sure the store gets a little money out of a day when tons of free stuff is given away. Unfortunately, the store places GIANT STICKERS ON THEIR COMICS...IMPOSSIBLE TO GET OFF AND IT DESTROYED EVERYONE OF THE COMICS THAT I GOT TODAY. I was so extremely careful trying to remove them as well. I tried to peel it off on some, and on others I tried using a hair-dryer to get the adhesive to melt a little...no dice. They were all ruined. I would have left the stickers on if they were smaller, but they were giant stickers and they covered the artwork...WHY???? NEVER SHOPPING HERE AGAIN...lol, even when the items are for free, I wont be shopping here.
