Gotta say that Uptown Cheapskate has the best quality clothes new and lightly used around Charlotte!!! I got a great deal on a very cute jacket! They have Men’s clothes too!! You should got check them out!

I would not recommend selling to them. Very rude staff. They offer you pennies for your items. They tried to keep my item even though I didn’t want to sell it. I had to make the woman give me back my shoes. The lead has a very nasty attitude. Just sell your stuff on Facebook Market place.

Buyer Beware!I’ve bought a few items from this store in the past. Today, I picked up a men’s shirt, looked it over for any issues like holes, tears, etc., and bought it. Upon arriving home, I noticed the security device used by the store caused a tear in the shirt.I brought the shirt back for store credit and tried to explain there’s no way I could’ve seen the problem since it was covered by the security tag.The cashier said it was a clearance item, so no returns. I understand the ‘no returns’ policy, but this was an issue caused by the store and their security device and there was no way to see it prior to purchase.Needless to say, make sure you ask to see your purchase again before paying.

First time ever hearing about this store and I brought some men’s clothes to sell. The clerk was helpful and explained the process—it would take about an hour. I came back and they selected the majority of my items and I made $83 cash. This was AWESOME so I will be back with some of my clothes as well

I never get excited going to a store but Uptown Cheapskate is the exception! Its always like a treasure hunt - not only for the best fashion but at ridiculously amazing prices. Almost every time I shop there I leave with almost a small wardrobe for pennies on the dollar retail - and some items still have new store tags on them!Im also very impressed with the customer service. Almost everyone there has been warm and friendly and Ive been shopping there for years.I dont know what Id do without this store!

Ive seen it a couple times when going into the Once Upon a Child next door but hadnt gone in until today and what a PLEASANT surprise to enter when the store was having a 70% discount (on marked items). My toddler was zero help in deciding which bag to get so I approached someone who worked there who helped me notice a couple cute bags I missed (I ended up getting a fanny pack I was already holding because ISH was CUTE, dont judge me) and was very friendly and helpful. Im trying to bring my mom back tonight before the sale ends 😃

I really like this place but the prices for second hand is high. I went recently and found a few pieces that were $50 and $100 which I found to be ridiculous. Rompers and dresses dont cost that much brand new. I was very disappointed and due to the price increases I dont plan to return. Please edit your store prices those young kids arent pricing those 2nd hand items fairly

This location does not check the dates of the clothes and will buy things from the 2000’s when they say they only accept things 2-3 years old.Lousy selection, service and management.Update - not once did I say this was Plato’s Closet. You misrepresent your buying process.

I love shopping here. I always find more great stuff than I need at (usually) very reasonable prices. Ive essentially replaced my entire winter wardrobe here in the past few months for a few hundred dollars. Im a pretty picky dresser so I am pumped to have a one stop shop for pretty much everything I need, and my girlfriend does the majority of her shopping here also.I havent tried selling anything here but I plan to soon. Since I usually donate my old clothes, even if I dont get much Ill still be happy. Highly recommended!

A staff member helped me put together the cutest birthday fit. 💛 its always so easy to shop around in there. Plus the prices are great. Tip though: they could do better with greeting customers.

Don’t waste your time trying to sell items here. I went there two times. The first time I tried to sell ladies clothing that was a few years old and outdated. I agreed with that conclusion, except one dress was purchased this year. I went through my son’s clothing that they barely wore or did not want. I went up there the next day with a big bin full of clothes such as Jogger pants, Gap Skinny jeans and H&M clothing purchased this year. This time I was told they had too much wear and tear. One pair of pants still had the tags on them. Not one item had any signs of wear and tear. I was very disappointed.

Not a bad selection. However, I almost walked out as the staff seemed cold. No greeting when I walked in, not a word uttered to me as I browsed and when I decided to try on a few items, still not a word spoken. The employee simply grabbed the keys and opened the dressing room door...not a word spoken!!! Leaning towards not spending my money there, I liked the clearance items I had selected. As I stood in line Brynn asked, Are you ready to checkout. I said, Yes and she proceeded to ring up my items. The only words to me were, Clearance items are final sales. In all honesty, that staff truly was cavalier and made me feel like I wasnt wanted. Management needs to look into mystery shoppers or unannounced monitoring...otherwise, people will take their buying power elsewhere!

I have been shopping at this location for 2 years and I loved it! But the last 2 times were horrible experiences. Especially this last time. The employees were so busy gossiping with each other I wasn’t greeted at all. I was in with my 2 daughters. I was about to purchase 2 pairs of shoes then my 6 year old had to use the restroom really bad. I explained that my daughter really had to go did they have a restroom. First I was told no there was no restroom then I asked someone else and I explained the urgency of the matter and I was told the restroom was only for employees and paying customers. And another girl said after she saw the 2 pairs of shoes said no actually it’s just for employees. I said she’s 6 she really has to go. They just went back to talking like we weren’t there. I WILL NEVER SHOP THIS LOCATION AGAIN AND I WILL MAKE SURE I LET EVERYONE KNOW WHY. As a loyal customer my kid can’t even use the restroom.

No bathroom, customer service and employee attitude was terrible, and selling clothes here IS NOT worth it! Me and my friends used to shop here all the time but now the quality of the store has gone down the drain ☹️ I went in there to sell, and wasn’t even greeted. The actual prices are not usual second hand prices, expect a little more expensive and regular forever 21 or H & M pricing. I am dissatisfied and disappointed with Uptown Cheapskate.

You never know what bargains you will find here. There is always fresh merch coming in and the prices are great and even more of a bargain if there is a colored tag discount as well. Some are up to 50% off.

Rudest people I’ve come across in retail! They belong in the unemployment line. They act bothered when you ask a question. I came to spend a good bit of money, but I have no problem taking my money somewhere else where the employees are at least half way decent to customers.Edit because I can’t reply to the owners comment: it wasn’t even busy the day I went in. There were 2 employees at the counter messing around on their phones and I was 1 of 3 customers in the entire store. I don’t believe their “dollar days” was the reason they were rude because they weren’t even busy and barley had anybody in the entire store.

I will not return! The store was unclean and employees were rude!!! It was clear that they werent there for the customers. It was more important to socialize with each other than help anyone. You have to beg to try anything on or purchase. My time is just as important as my dollar that pays their paycheck.

Had to wait to get rung up even after I made eye contact with the manager and it was clear she wasn’t wanting to ring me up. she was too busy talking to another girl. if you’re a manager customer service should be #1 priority. I used to work in retail so I know how important customer service is and this wasn’t it! after 5 minutes of just standing there looking around another girl finally came up to me.

The employees are more concerned with their personal lives more than actually doing their job. No greeting, one of them acts like she doesnt want to work there, the other ones on the phone with her friends when people need help. Platos is so much better and friendlier. I wouldnt shop or sell here

Mike and another gentleman were so extremely nice and accommodating. I came and didn’t realize it was after hours and they still took care of me so I didn’t have to come back the next day.

Bad customer service! Employees pretend that they don’t see you when entering the store. This is my second visit into this store. After the first visit was so terrible, I called to complain waited 1 year, went back to this location and the same RUDE staff. They should be shut down apparently they don’t value their customers and a success business is based on the ability to provide excellent customer service which they don’t have!

Some real bargains if you can take the time to wade through all the terrible stuff. Scored a couple of Ralph Lauren shirts for $7 each... But only after digging through about a hundred synthetic golf shirts. Ill come back. The mens shoe selection sucks, but that is because men in general have terrible taste in shoes... So I guess I shouldnt be too shocked.

I don’t even know where to begin.. you walk in the door and the first thing you notice is the store is TRASHED. I try to look through all rubble and can’t help but be so distracted by all the teenage talk at the front counter. Laughing obnoxiously, cell phones, inappropriate conversations. I’m all for having fun at work but there was too much to be done in that store for them to be having so much fun. Hangers covering the counter, I could barely fit my items I wanted to purchase on the counter, so many items in the wrong spot, so many clothes off the hanger on the floor, so many clothes half on the hanger. It’s unacceptable. Platos closet right down the street has a store about 3 times bigger and it’s organized and clean. The lady who cashed me out was sitting prior to cashing me out, WHY ARE YOU SITTING WHEN THERE IS SO MUCH TO BE DONE??????? The teenagers you have hired obviously haven’t worked hard a day in their life and it’s not about to start at Uptown Cheapskate.Also are you the owners of Once Upon A Child as well? Because that store is in the exact same condition. By far the worst OUAC I’ve been to.** Can’t respond to the owner so I’m editing my comment**I worked at Platos closet I understand the whole store getting busy with buys and it can get hectic. I get that 100%, that’s why I think it’s completely unacceptable for an employee to have chairs set up behind the counter to relax in between cashing people out when there are a THOUSAND things to be done in that store. And cell phone? We were not allowed to have them on us and I can see why. So much to be done in that store, it’s a complete mess, unorganized and your staff is using your money to sit around and be lazy. Better staff and a cleaner store would make a lot of people come back and shop there more, just saying. On that note, Platos in Pineville is wonderful and clean and that’s who will be getting my business.

Yesterday (6/25/16) is the last Ive come to this store. Never felt so harassed by thier new cashier AMBER who clearly knows nothing about treating customers. Especially one that comes in every month. She literally argued with me about the dressing rooms. Almost yelling the whole time at me !! Ridiculous I am a customer!!! . I am trying to contact at least one of the Franchise owers so they are aware of the kind of crazy animals they have working at this store !!

The people that work there are very rude and one girl in particular I think her name is Amber is highly unprofessional. I sold some stuff there and she took 4 items. I asked what was wrong with the other stuff, she claimed I had winter items and that’s not what they were looking for. I had a whole IKEA bag of summer items, shorts, maxi skirts and etc. Yea she’s a liar

If you are a man it’s pointless to come to this location, it’s a hit and miss like any other consignment store but more misses definitely. They seem to accept lower quality clothing compared to other locations in the Charlotte area, at least for men’s clothing, but a large selection of decent and better quality Women’s clothing. Uninterested staff, won’t even acknowledge customers unless you’re about to check out and spend some money. teenage/young adults so what do you expect anyway. Do yourself a favor and check out the University and Huntersville locations. Trust me you’ll never come back to this one once you go to those 😎Edit to Reply to owner: Yes I have visited several times since 2017 but my last time coming was when i originally wrote this review. Had several items I wanted to buy in my hands but just ended up putting them back and leaving because your employees were being so slow and rude to other customers, talking about what they saw on facebook or instagram instead of checking customers out. I Worked in retail in my teenage years and companies I worked for would fire employees on the spot acting the way your employees do. I decided to just stop coming and giving any money to this location

When i came in today and spoke they looked at me real nasty & didnt speak.. If they decide to buy any of your items. They dont tell how much they bought them for..They just hand u the money. With a bougee attitude.

They do things a bit differently than the University Uptown Cheapskate location on clearance items because they are own differently they stop buy backs at 7pm

Unfortunately I was given poor service today waiting and never been notified 30 minute wait to have been told oh I didn’t know but knew exactly what I bought in sounds like bull to me maybe next time I’ll make sure to remind them I’m waiting after 10 so I don’t have to stand there for 30 min

Do not bring anything of any value here. i brought a louie vitton wallet worth 350$ and a tommy hilfinger leather jacket worth 400$, and i was to receive only 12.50$ FOR THEM BOTH. this is absolutely insane. dont waste your time here, unless you have a bunch of worthless articles, then you may actually get your moneys worth.
