I have went to many bike shops in Charlotte and this one far exceeds expectations. From the pricing to the service is amazing! I absolutely love this place and the staff goes over and beyond to actually teach their clients about what they are buying and making sure we are making the best purchase. Speaking of good service, I left a biking accessory at the store and called and notified the staff. They came out to my place and installed the piece and I did not have to go back to the store and get it. This is what I call superb service and I will forever be a loyal customer. I highly recommend checking them out as a preferred bike shop!

Gear Goat Exchange has a wide verity of new and gently used products and apparel, from affordable bikes to rock climbing shoes and everything in between. What makes this place unique is also the exceptional customer service. Elon went out of his way to help and educate me on almost everything I needed to know to start cycling, something I haven’t done in over 15 years! He also went as far as to show me how to mount a bike on a rack correctly and even helped me pick a bike on FB marketplace! Everyone else at the shop was nice and helpful as well. 10 out of 10 would come again lol

Wife and I, in our 60’s, decided to take up bicycling. We haven’t ridden bikes in 20 plus years.We had noticed Gear Goat Exchange when eating out at Moo and Brew and decided to start there.We worked with Bob and he hooked us up with everything we needed. He took his time with us, a lot of questions on our part, and was very patient. He explained to my wife how to work the gears on her bike and adjusted her seat height to fit her legs. He put the bike rack on our car for us showing us how to install and use it.It was an overall great experience and will recommend the place to everyone.

Phenomenal store with a phenomenal down to earth staff.Purchased a mountain bike at a stellar price.Since I hadn’t been on a modern mountain bike, my last was early 2k they went over things I need to know as far as features, taking the wheels off with disc breaks etc.The whole store was eye candy to a guy like me and I wish I had more time to explore but will definitely be back when we are in the Charlotte area.This was worth quite a bit of driving to get there and I see myself purchasing many more things at this spot.

Love this place. Bought my first “real” road bike here and they made sure I was 200% set before leaving. I’ve come back a few times now and with friends. They fixed a small issue they found in my bike that I didn’t even know existed - FOR FREE, tuned and fitted my sister on her bike as well. I’ll make the drive every time just because of the service here. Thanks guys!

The store owner and his staff are just outstanding. They’re very knowledgeable with a great selection of gear that’s all reasonably priced for the condition. They’re also very kind to newbies 😊 they don’t make you feel like an idiot if you’re new to camping/hiking/biking! Will 100% make this my first stop for future trips

Im visiting my cousin in Vt. this weekend and wanted take her ice climbing, but its last minute and Ive only got a single set of vertical crampons, so Im thinking well trade boots every depending on whos actually on the face. Im telling Andrew this at this soccer this morning, and he says, oh why dont you check out Gear Goat, they have all kinds of stuff. Im mildly skeptical that a consignments store in Charlotte will have crampons, but I call... they have 4 different pairs to choose from and mountaineering boots in my size!I drive over, talk with Joy, she shows the various option. I choose a brand new pair of Black Diamond Contact Strap, because Ive already got vertical and always wanted something for glacier travel. So, now Im flying to Stowe, 2pair of crampons plenty of drink money, and no worries. Thanks very much!

Just found this place from a nextdoor recommendation. took in my BD trekking poles because the left one wouldn’t lock in place. they fixed it. even if they hadn’t been able to, I’d still rate them 5 stars. chill & friendly vibe. the store is neatly organized: backpacks, sleeping bags, clothing, all kinds of great gear. oh yea, bikes in the rear of the store. not intending to throw shade to REI (cuz I’m a member & fan), but definitely recommend the folks at GG.

We went in to look for a kayak rack - saw one and husband asked is this the best price - staff person quoted more than double the price - and my husband was confused and said I dont understand - and then the person said - oh that would be a good price for me - and then we can go home for the day. Not very customer service oriented at all - we were not disrespectful - and we will be sure to let our friends and others - not to do business here - better luck looking on Next Door or Facebook Market.

IIan was great to deal with I purchased a bike through an Ad he had placed on Facebook. He was going to try and help get it closer to me through a network of friends so I could avoid shipping cost. I ended up finding someone coming down and they were able to bring the bike with them. The bike had been prepped for shipping and was ready to go when my friend came to pick the bike up. It was exactly how he said it would be and the process was supper quick and easy. I would highly recommend giving these guys your business they were helpful, friendly and ready to help you when you need and answer any questions you have

This place is an oasis for any outdoor enthusiast. The staff are incredibly welcoming and go out of their way to make sure you find what youre looking for. Ilan even kept the store open for me after hours just so that I could swing by after work before heading out on a ski/hiking trip. These guys are incredibly knowledgeable and are quick to offer any tips on gear or outdoor destinations -- certainly doesnt hurt that they have cold refreshments and coffee on standby! This shop is just what Charlotte needed.

I have been coming to this place for a while now, I’m an avid traveler and backpacker and this place is pretty amazing. Imagine Platos Closet and REI making sweet gentle tender love to one another and it’s offspring being amazing and beautiful. Hardcore outdoor brands like Mountain Hardware, Northface, are on all the shelves. New and gently used, often times heavily discounted and it’s run by people who clearly love what they do. I have been a customer for years and it’s always my first stop. They also do consignment, and I’ve both bought and sold stuff there. Hardest part is finding the place but once you do it’ll be your first stop when the seasons change or adventure beckons.

Gear Goat Xchg is selling all my outdoor gear needs (mountain biking, trail running, disc golf, bike racks, Carhart overalls) at a fraction of the retail price! The owners are friendly and open to questions. On their racks they have the same items as an REI garage sell would have, just year round and easy to access. It was nice to drop off gently used gear in order for someone else to enjoy the adventures while shopping for my new adventure needs. Go check em out!

This place is amazing. I walked in knowing zero about bikes but needing one for an event and to ride with my kids. The owner Ilan and his associate Joy have been beyond helpful. I bought a bike that first day and have been back at least 3 times already for more gear or help with stuff I’ve purchased. They made me feel completely at home and I love their style of service. When I brought my boys in, Ilan was wonderful with them as well. He took the pedals off of my youngest boys bike and showed him how to “skitch” around the store😂 He’ll be on 2 wheels in no time!! Seriously...not only does this store have an incredible selection and quality items, their customer service is some of the best I’ve experienced in Charlotte. Our city is lucky to have them.

Found Gear Goat Xchg on FB messenger and what and amazing experience conversing and when I went to the actual store yesterday 5/28/2019. When I walked into the store I was in “Heaven” with all of the cycling gear, bikes and outdoor gear etc available. What really matters to me is “The Customer experience”. Ilan(hope I spelled it right) is the GURU of customer service and networking!!! He literally was in contact with 3-4 places at one time trying to find the “Clips” for the Yakima bike rack that’s needed for my car. He had 95% of what I needed for a roof top bicycle rack. It was well worth the 1.5 hr drive to visit Gear Goat Xchg and I would HIGHLY recommend this store to ANY outdoor enthusiast!!!
