We used to order here but the customer service is horrible. The employees they have working there don’t know how to take any orders over the phone. I’m fact, I was told to use their website which does not WORK AT ALL. This was a horrible experience. I was told she wasn’t interested in taking my order. BUYERS BEWARE!!!!

Best brisket Ive ever cooked. We got the angus brisket and the owner trimmed it down to a size we could fit into our smoker. The brisket was amazing. Best ever. I tried some different grades at other places and it just wasnt the same.

Absolutely amazing fresh seafood. Ive been coming here for years on a weekly basis and they always impress. This is the classic smaller meat & fish market that locals crave. If youre a grocery store seafood buyer, youll never go back to the grocery store like I havent for my seafood. If Im entertaining, there is no better steak than what they have. Its far better than anything Ive eaten at Del Friscos, Ruth Chris or Sullivans. Are they perfect, no, but neither is Whole Foods. Its a small business and the owner is onsite and super friendly. Enjoy your new favorite spot to buy meats and seafood.

Probably the worse seafood bag Ive ever had in my entire life. It is simply saturated in butter no other seasoning. The lobster not full of meat, like it had been picked out. I soon realized it was soggy almost pureed like, just had to throw away. The corn was even bland. It was incredibly disappointing and the portion is not enough for two as advertised. The clam chowder was watered down and the crab cake was like a breaded fish cake. I think overall they could be a good fresh seafood market, however they should not continue to serve prepared food, leave that to restaurants. The NC oysters were good just very tiny, but tasty and fresh. I hate leaving negative comments, means Ive wasted my money, but the seafood bags, crab cakes, and clam chowder need major improvements. Cant comment on the quality of the fresh items, looked good in the display though.

Paid $20 for the worst quality mahi mahi I’ve ever tasted. The fish smell was so strong it was inedible. I called and left a voicemail with no response. Don’t go here for fresh fish. Very disappointed.

Placed order on 4/16, recieved on 4/21 at 7pm no less, youd think spending over 40$ for shipping, itd get there in time, especially when you let them know it is a birthday gift, quality was really good, so I gave 3 stars instead of 1

Dont get the 1 star ratings. My opinion is those reviewers are either not real bright or they came in with preconceived notions or intent, maybe both. That said, I was born & raised in eastern NC (New Bern) and have enjoyed good oysters my entire life of 64 years. I purchased a 100 count from Carolina Meat & Fish a week before Christmas and they provided a superior bunch of select Tidewater Runners, albeit, through Middle Sound Mariculture. Plump, briny, clean, very tasty, and, most importantly, very fresh! My two 20 something year old sons fulfilled their heritage and consumed them. It was one of our happier 2020 moments to say the least. Thanks to the VERY HELPFUL AND KNOWLEDGEABLE staff that helped me. GREAT JOB CMF! Oh, and try the ocean scallops as well from there, you will be very happy you did.

Bought 1.5lbs of fresh mussels Christmas Eve. Approx 1/3 of the mussels were open and would not close (dead), 1/3 were floating in the water while cleaning them (also dead). The whole 1.5 lbs ended up in the trash. Waste of time driving to get fresh mussels and $17 wasted too! Unfortunately cant post the picture I took of the mussels in the trash. Wont be going back

Very deceitful. Ordered lamb weeks a head of time but then they lost my ticket told me one price charged a very different higher price. Then gave me venison instead of lamb. When I called about it they pretended not to hear me hung up now wont answer.Follow up also not wearing masks and have very unprofessional responses. Clearly. Blaming customers for recieving the wrong thing when wrapping it up prior to giving it to them, absolutely ridiculous. Have reported to the BBB.

Awful customer service. Today, I arrived there at 3:10 pm to pick up a crab boil bag. They were set to close at 4 pm. There appeared to be 5 people working with no one waiting but they proceeded to tell me they were not making any more bags for the day although there was no one in front of me or waiting on order. I attempted to call around 2:45 pm prior to driving there, but no one answered. The voice message said they were open to 4pm and even if no pre-order come on in and they would take care of you. This was my second and last time going there. Both times Ive been there the shop has been run by ambivalent teenagers with poor customer service skills. Suggestion to public: Just order your seafood from out-of-state like I ended up doing to have sent by fed ex air. This local business is a disappointment.

Customer service is nonexistent ! 2 teenage girls “working” there today. I called before I left home and asked where in Charlotte they were located....the answer “we’re in Ft Mill, SC”. I asked if they had 2 locations, 1 in Charlotte and 1 in Ft Mill...she said she wasn’t sure. I had to double check the number to make sure I was calling the right place. So I went there to get lobster. The girl that waited on me had a phone call as she was about to fish one lobster out of the tank....she answered the call and then tried to nab a lobster one handed, but with no success....this went on for about 5 minutes and I was about ready to walk out. Then the other girl came over and tried to help while the first girl continued her conversation on the phone. So, 30 minutes and $50 later I leave the store. The lobster wasn’t that great and the wait & frustration wasn’t worth it. I wonder why a business with many great reviews would entrust it’s care to two young girls that couldn’t care less about its customers?!?!?

Charlottes best lobster roll... served on a hot dog bun. Literally just a plain old split-top hot dog bun. Not even buttered and toasted. If you run out of ingredients, just 86 the item and dont serve it. Maybe they changed the recipe? Huge chunks of lobster but got 2 bites with shells. Really disappointed.

Friendly and knowledgeable staff, great selection of steaks and the only place in Charlotte to get actual fresh NC seafood. Ask if you dont see something, they can order it for you.

We pre-ordered 8 lobsters. I ordered online and then called to confirm. All good. Went to pick them up and met the nicest young lady who boxed those fresh lobster up for us. Great customer service and the lobsters were awesome! I’m going to order a couple for Christmas dinner! Great place, great people that work there.

Went to the Carolina Meat & Fish Company today to get one of their lobster rolls. Oh my goodness, STILL the best lobster roll Ive EVER had. No exaggeration. The meal is super reasonable too! $18.99 for a lobster roll, bag of chips (pretty good size) and a drink (which he let me pick out). VERY pleased with the way they package the food and I love the precautions this business is taking during the pandemic. I even purchased some AMAZING disinfectant from there. During the pandemic theyre selling items like toilet paper, paper towels, tissue and cleaning products which I think is super cool and helpful. I put them on my Instagram and Facebook story and Ive already had people telling me how good the food looks and that they want to give this place a try. The ONLY reason I did not give them 5 stars is because of the customer service. The guy who helped me out today wasnt overly friendly and the other guy in the store didnt acknowledge me at all. I just got weird vibes. However I will still be back. That lobster roll is too good to pass up. Hopefully my next visit will be just a tad friendlier. I do highly recommend this place!

The lobster roll is overrated, it just taste like lobster with mayo on it not much zazzle when you are paying almost $20 for a sandwich. Customer service was less than mediocre. I will blame it on the pandemic.

I have been going to this spot for a while now and you can always count on a friendly team and most of all fresh meat and seafood. The loster roll lunch is so good be careful not to buy two! They also go the extra mile everytime I visit because I can count on them to get my fish cut per my portion size and ice to go.

This little gem is am amazing small grocery store. I just picked up some Prime Ribeye steaks and some Stone Crab Claws. I also picked up some toliet paper, Kleenex, and bleach cleaning solution. Go for the beef, stay for the seafood.. In Ballantyne near Elon Park and Lorenzos Pizza.

The best fish market in Charlotte for fresh local seafood. Try their shrimp boils, or New England boils for sure. Local beef, just simply amazing meats and steaks. I get all my live lobsters, my fresh made pastas and local farm fresh brown eggs here too. A Ballantyne gem and family run business with fair prices for the products they carry.

Wow - after having a great experience buying fish, I wanted to help sustain local business in these tough times. We ordered a Seafood FraDiavlo. I guess I should have known when the person on the phone did not know that it had its own sauce and came a bit different from the Seafood Bags. Upon pick up, although the website clearly stated it came with 1lb of pasta, the staff insisted the website was not updated, and they knew of no such thing. On top of that, for $75, we did not get a FraDiavlo. We got the seafood bag which is less money than a FraDiavlo. More painful, there was no bag involved. The meal came in a large aluminum container - which is fine - however, the website instructions are to cook the bag for 40 minutes. After an hour, when even the potatoes were raw, I called about cooking time, and was told - they had run out of bags and cooking time was doubled in the containers. Why werent we informed when we picked it up? We are trying to sustain local businesses. Please have staff that are apprised of your offerings! Btw - its a 30 min drive for us - thats how much we liked our initial contact and wanted to support you. This experience was absolutely unpleasant

Seafood is fresh. Great selection and prices, however do not be fooled by the pics of the lobster roll. This is why I give it a 3. When you order it, they give you the roll separately and a container of the lobster salad for you to put it together yourself. Was not what I was expecting. Its tasty once you squeeze lemon on it and a pinch of seasoning, but VERY misleading if you go off the pics on the website. Im sure its a reason its done that way, but its something I would have liked to known ahead of time.

Is it the cheapest around? Probably not. But what it is is the best quality seafood youll find in the Charlotte area. Its also nice that you can actually get live crawfish from them in season for a price that wont kill you. Good options on local goods as well.

We absolutely love this place and wish we lived a bit closer so that we could go more often. The freshest seafood and meat you can find and some unusual items. Cant say enough about these folks.

I recently contacted Carolina Meat & Fish Co. looking for Hanger Steak, which they had in stock. I purchased it that same day and found the service and product quality to far exceed what Id become accustomed to at the local grocery stores.Friday I contacted them again searching for Tri-Tip, which Id only been able to find at Trader Joes. He said he didnt have any in stock, yet would order some from his local grass-fed, beef farm for delivery the next day. True to his word the Tri-Tip was available for pickup Saturday. My family and I enjoyed the Tri-Tip last night for dinner. Quite honestly, it was some of the best tasting beef Ive had in recent memory.I will continue to utilize them for my familys fresh meat and fish needs.

My family and I care about local, grass fed beef. Which is why were so glad we found the Carolina Meat & Fish Co in Ballantyne. Great selection of grass fed steaks, friendly staff and well informed of their products. We used to shop at the local butcher, but have stopped completely as the flavor and prices here are much better. They also have a huge selection of fresh seafood and good wine selections.

These people are very rude! Everything is extremely overpriced and they are not knowledgeable with units of measurement, be careful, they might charge you for 5 lb and only put a pound in there!!! Would not reccomend anybody to do business at this place!!!

Bought cod here last Saturday afternoon, 8/3/19. The young man who waited on me was extremely pleasant and polite. He did not, however, know anything about the products like if shrimp was farm raised or wild caught, how long to prepare the stuffed clams, etc. TO TOP IT OFF, THE COD WAS NASTY, SPOILED, TOTALLY SMELLED LIKE AMMONIA. IT WAS INEDIBLE AND HAD TO BE THROWN AWAY. Will not shop here again. So disappointed. 😖

Carolina Meat & Fish Co has an amazing selection of fresh seafood. The owner is a very pleasant man who took the time to explain the different species of fish and how to prepare them! He also paired the perfect bottle of wine with my fish. I will def be returning!!

Where do I start?! The follow up on orders was beyond bad, but the reviews and website had me totally sold. I was to receive my order on a Friday and was told it hadn’t came in on Saturday afternoon. When I called on Monday, I was told that it had arrived. I live over 20 miles away. When I arrived the young man behind the counter was clueless. He had no idea where anything was and when he located my crawfish, they were dead in a net. They hadn’t been sprayed with water or properly stored. The young man was angry because I wouldn’t purchase the crawfish and expressed my concerns with the policies and procedures... while I was there he was communicating with the owner whom he stated had been out of town all week. As a small business owner I would be disappointed ☹️ 5 days later, no one has called me to rectify the situation. Several of the items weren’t properly refrigerated and the store had a very foul smell.

First time I came here. The signage states fresh but the moment you walk in you are smacked in the face with the rotting smell of fish. The store was small and crowded with miscellaneous stuff. Not much of a selection of steak or fish either.Edit: the response from the owner should be enough to not give any business but reviews are ment for improvement. I drove 40 miles just to pick this Charlotte-famous recipe Lobster roll up, sold for $18, pre-ordered online (they were out of stock last Friday!)! One of my friend even asked to pick her order up for her and her husband, as they were also curious about the hype.Well, even I, a sucker for lobsters and crabs, cant justify the price for this tiny sandwich with the basic hot-dog bun! So sad Corner Grind cafe in Pineville got closed, their lobster roll was superb!Another con - they dont answer phone calls and dont return your voicemails. The staff was quite nice when I picked the order up though

I am the supposed boyfriend of Leslie from the Dec 24th post. I just attempted to digest both sides of this fiasco, and since the gentleman writing this did not serve me, allow me to speak for myself. Leslie and I placed our orders 3 days earlier. Spoke with the owners wife. Said I would be picking up the orders Mon morning. I arrived around 11:00 on the 24th. There were two lines. One for preorders and one for walk-ins. Common sense should dictate that preorders would be ready when the customers arrange to pick them up. Figure 3-5 mins a customer to pull there order and ring them up. There were three people in front of me, and it took 45 mins for me to be waited on. When I finally made it to the counter, the lady looks at me and says I remember you, your order is not ready. No apology, or estimation of when the order could be ready. I told her I have a full day and can not make it back. I will see how my friend wants to handle this. THATS IT for my part. As for the owner claiming he stiffed me defamation of character aside, why on Earth would I pay in advance on the busiest day of the year expecting my order to be filled when they couldnt fill it placing the order three days in advance.

On Yelp the owner of your store is listed as Toby. Who is Toby? On your stores social media accounts and a simple search on NC Secretary of State website lists the owner as James Seidel.3. Why was my partner Michael told not to come back to your store after he called to tell you about our tainted fish purchased there? All he really wanted to do was make sure no one got sick but truly felt like he deserved a refund. The person he spoke with was so rude, and now coming back at me with an attack on here is proof enough this is how you run your business.4. I experienced bad service in your store last August on my very first visit and instead of apologizing why did you attack me? I was ignored. Maybe your store has changed inside since I was there, but that was my experience.5. Do you call all of your customers with a bad experience liars? Do you call anyone who might not like your establishment a bully? What a strange way to deal with unhappy customers.6. Why is there a photo of a guy at a fish market in Iceland connected to this page?7. I am very much from New York City and the immediate area, so is my partner. Why is that relevant to my complaint? To tell me I dont exist is not going to make my valid complaint go away.Your response makes absolutely no sense. I do not recognize any of the names you listed... except one and she is my 86 year old Aunt Diana who lives in Upstate New York and doesnt even know how to use a computer. I am going to rant bc this is worthy of a rant!We ordered 2 seafood bags last week at Carolina Meat & the Fish for our Feast of 7 Fishes Christmas Eve dinner. The woman specifically put away the remaining dungess crab legs for my bag bc the wouldnt be getting anymore. We were told to pickup before 3 today. My friend waited on a pickup only line for over half an hour only to be told theyre not ready!! When we ordered there was NO mention of, before 3 but not before___... They recommend pre-ordering, which usually means pickup, not wait in line to wait even more for your pre-order to be put together. Noone has time to wait, go back & forth or cook individual fish meals on a major holiday without planning ahead. So, they kept taking orders before filling existing orders and I am told they did this last year, also!!! And instead of calling customers, they posted online that some orders may not be filled as ordered! Our Feast of the 7 Fishes got cancelled. After dozens of calls we were lucky to find a reservation at a nearby restaurant. So, my recommendation is to not depend on Carolina Meat & Fish for a holiday/special meal.RESPONSE:We didnt stiff you....a pre-order is a pickup...not come back in about 30 minutes on the busiest day of the year and well have it ready. What is the purpose of pre-ordering?! Pre-Orders should be ready before you open your doors. And my FRIEND (not boyfriend so dont make more assumptions!) is a very patient, professional person who was also shocked by your business practices. And to not call and apologize but bully me instead is a clear indication of their lack of professionalism! I have never seen a company react to a poor review like this! And the majority of the remarks agree it was wrong & others poor experiences with this same issue! They conveniently left those out and attacked my character & bullied me instead of apologizing and reporting what steps theyre going to make to resolve this ongoing problem! What kind of professional .... what company reacts by calling the customer names bc they got a poor review?!!!! SMH(See Harry Damares account of what happened).

Prices are not displayed well. Quoted one price on the phone 5.99 per lb. arrive 30 minutes later, 7.99 lb. very young adults/teenagers working there are not much on the service side within the store.
