I ordered textbooks online and had them shipped to my house, but I never received them. I got nothing but a runaround when I called and emailed to rectify the issue. UPS sent me back to B&N Charlotte, and B&N Charlotte finally said that my issue was not their problem or responsibility, and told me to go back to UPS. Im out of hundreds of dollars and I dont have my textbooks. If you have an issue, dont expect them to rectify it.This isnt even the first issue I had with this store, especially when they put one of my needed books on back-order in the past.Edit: This was later rectified, but the experience was still not great.

Jeez the prices here for Charlotte gear are high! Good selection, yes, but its like you gotta take out a home equity loan to buy a t-shirt.

My Boyfriend purchased an access code from the bookstore for one of his engineering classes (cost was $130) and it didn’t work when he tried to activate it. He went back to the bookstore and they told him he could not return it because the shrink wrap had been opened. But there is no possible way to see the access code without opening the packaging. Manager told him that she didn’t care and he was just out the $130 and still has no code to access his textbook. Very poor customer service when students already pay so much for books anyways.

The staff was less that cooperative. The selection was limited and after traveling from West TN, to see my favorite team,I was disappointed.

They sold me an access code that didnt work, then refused to accept the return. It also cost 50 dollars more than the other option through the textbook website. Save your money and go anywhere else. The manager was rude and didnt even offer an apology for the inconvenience.

Truly disappointing. Delays, inflated costs, there is simply no benefit to students using their services. Just look elsewhere.

Halfway through the semester and they still don’t have the textbook I need for a class that I paid for in January before classes even started. I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt on that one but They’re rude over the phone and in person they argue over who has to « take care of the customer ». Also a couple of them weren’t wearing masks either. There was one dude I talked to over the phone who was actually pretty great but that happened once and never again.

The worst customer service I have ever personally experienced. Does not work well with college students. Do yourself a favor and buy your textbooks somewhere else.

This store manages to fail at doing anything in a reasonable efficient manner. Im sitting there, staring at a box of the books i need. The clerk is telling me yes they are in stock, but no i can not buy one. I need to go home, buy it online, and then come back. What kind of sense does that make?Save yourself the headache and buy from the publisher or any other store.

Charlotte needs to ditch Barnes and noble ASAP. I get that covid had an impact on logistics and what not but for the athletic department to go through an entire rebrand and the school bookstore website have such lack of availability in new gear/apparel is embarrassing. Absolutely embarrassing. And at this point it’s been over 6 months since the rebrand and it’s gotten worse!

This place is a JOKE. Save your time and money and order your books from somewhere else; amazon is a better option. The workers here are rude and do not make time for the customers. They dont even know how to pick up a phone and answer it. Not to mention the prices here are outrageous.

DO NOT TRUST THEM!!! They will tell UNCC students that a certain book is REQUIRED. They will continue to email you for weeks telling you that you need to order those books. Then your professor tells you that you do not need the book and they refuse to issue a refund!!!! SCAMMERS AND THIEVES!! They will not get my business again and I encourage all UNCC students to look elsewhere. How sad that a company that is supposed to be trusted for UNCC students doesnt mind screwing them over.

Waited in line for an unnecessary amount of time. Staff was not very cooperative or helpful and seem to just be doing their own thing. Also after the line had obviously filled up we continued to wait for several minutes and it seems it was ignored by the staff.(Please learn what priorities of a business are and service your customers)

Do not get your books here. Save yourself money, and stress by getting them somewhere else. I had to ship my books to the store because Covid-19 and it still wasn’t checked in, two weeks after the tracking told me it arrived. So I called and the lady on the phone found it and checked it in (or so she said) but then the bookstore tried to fine me the full price of the book and when I emailed them with proof it was delivered last month, I got a snarky email back from the general manager Cheryl.

Ok so when you order a book online there is a little message that says youre paying for a used book rental however if we didnt find a used book we will give you a new book which may increase the price and I was thinking thats fine they wouldnt increase the price by much but little did I know on the next day I was charged almost $180( $78 was the original price) so I called and I was told that I was charged that much because we couldnt find a used one so I was given a new book. I did some research and I found the book available for PURCHASE not rental brand new on Amazon for $160. I mean I get they tryna make profit but thats a rip-off when a rental price is more than what frikin book is worth. At least let me know about the price change before you charge me so I can tell you if I want the book or not!! never buying any other books from here again!!!

Waste of time and money.

I dont like the return policy (a week after classes start) and the no weekend hours. But the process of returning my rented textbooks at the end of the month seemed ok. Unfortunately, I wont know if they were ok with the books because they dont check the condition right there in front of you nor provide any type of document noting return.

Do not order textbooks from here. They will tell you it’s ready for pickup but will wait an hour in line because nobody’s order is actually ready for pickup. After waiting in line for an hour, the person in front of me was told that her books were not even here after receiving an email that her books were ready. They have barricaded off the bookshelves forcing you to order online and to wait in the line. Simple materials are extremely overpriced. There is no end to what disappoints me about the bookstore.

I wish Greys bookstore was still around. Nobody ever answers the phone, they lose my books, and that’s literally all they’re supposed to do.

Item on back order from December 19th, now January 21st. no follow up email, no notice of status of order. Left on hold when calling bookstore. Typical non-service attitude. I suggest you purchase from other stores that carry college clothing.

A great place to purchase items for classes or school spirit. The employees are always helpful and pleasant to approach with a question or to checkout my purchase. Ive never felt that I was put aside or ignored. The experience is comparable to an experience at Chick-fil-a where the customer service is professional, courteous and efficient. At UNCC bookstore, a long line does not mean a long wait. The employees help each other. Those who are on the floor will come to the register to work together to shorten the line. A short line will be over on a few minutes. My review is about the service. I can order online or go somewhere else, but the customer service is great at this location, and I have not been disappointed.

Theres not clear instruction on what to or what books are unavailable. I called the bookstore today and spoke with Ms. Linda about my son not returning his rental books. She was extremely helpful, courtesy and was willing to work with me. I am so pleased with her customer service. Thank you Ms. Linda and Ms. Sherry. The books will be there next week.

Dont buy clothing here. Despite having a receipt less than two weeks old, polo shirt with tags still attached a refund is refused. Take your money to Amazon, they have a great return policy.

Staff answers the phone laughing and joking, when asked to speak with managers they give you a hard time then say everyone who works there is “pretty much a manager” wanted to ask about buying school logo clothes and got so turned off I will never purchase anything from this store again. Amazon has the same books and sometimes for cheaper. Makes me annoyed that my tuition is helping pay such silly people.

The staff is ALWAYS grumpy. I understand that you deal with book returns all day and beginning and end of semester is stressful, but thats no reason to be rude to the customers.Its frustrating to have to work with someone who is frustrated, if you cant handle high stress, then s book store during peak times isnt the job for you.I bet its a very cozy job the other 99% of the semester so save up some energy for those hard few weeks.Books are also overpriced as usual, you can find them cheaper elsewhere.

This bookstore is a bad option for buying books and offers a frustrating illusion of convenience. Instead of offering good deals to students, books here are often marked up 50% from the prices seen on the Barnes & Noble website. Markups are even greater when compared to Amazon. This is an embarrassment to the university and something needs to be done to bring the prices down to competitive levels for students.

Even though there was a line to pickup books, i was helped quickly and courteously. Everyone here was very nice and helpful.

Usually I never have any issues with the bookstore, however I recently ordered through the store to find out one of my books from my order was placed on backorder. I waited a week to hear back if they had gotten any more books and when I would receive a copy, only to find out they ran out and werent going to order anymore. I never received an email saying they were not going to order anymore and have been waiting a week until I had to call the store. It would have been nice to know ahead of time they werent planning on ordering anymore instead of keeping a customer waiting when class assignments revolve around books.

Horrible place to buy your book. I ordered all my books online and they shipped all but one to the store shipped to the store. I went the whole semester without it because I forgot I even ordered it. They didnt tell me if it ever came in or not. When I turned the books in they charged me for a lost book fee even though I told them I never received the book.

Walked downstairs to the bookstore with the intent to look at a book before I buy it, before doing so, a worker rudely told another customer and I to move from the outside of the ropes to inside the ropes, making us walk in the snake-like rope pattern to fall in line even though we were the only two people by the registers at the time. When I walked up to the cashier, I was greeted with an unfriendly, phone number? I asked if I could look at a book before I buy it, she shook her head, said no words, and after four seconds of silent head-shaking, she said not unless you buy it. I left with no book bought, and her eyes staring at me as I left.

Just rent what you need on Amazon, it may even come with an access code, you never know. Every thing is so expensive, imagine one Burts bees chapstick is $4.99, I can get a whole pack of 4 for that price!

Called TEN times, call kept ringing for 3 minutes or less and then the call disconnected. All I needed to know what the darn ISBN number for the Second Summer Session class that I have. I mean seriously, you would think in all the money this school sucks up they could at least answer the phone. This is absolutely ridiculous!! I guess I will try calling tomorrow morning, maybe then they will answer the call the 1st time rather than not answer even after the TENTH TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! For all I know, they will never answer the phone and I will simply have to wait for the class to start and then see the required textbook in the syllabus.

I do not even want to give this bookstore one star. My daughter purchased a book on January 5th and was NOT told that the book would arrive after the set return date of the 13th at the time of purchase. She had to have the book for an assignment and purchased another copy somewhere else. We are now out $81+ for the book we cannot return to UNC Charlotte Bookstore. DO NOT PURCHASE YOUR TEXTBOOKS HERE!!!! There are many other options with suitable return policies!

There are only two reasons you should ever go to this bookstore - if your class has a workbook that you cant order off of amazon, or you want to browse the pens, paper, or bargain books in the upper floors.Text books are a racket, of course, but you can get almost anything far cheaper online, and Grays offers UNCC branded merchandise for cheaper prices than the Bookstore will be able to provide.

UNCC has handed another corporation a captive set of buyers on a platter instead of running a bookstore themselves and offering books at a reasonable price to students. B&N in cahoots with UNCC, follow deceptive practices, such as bundling two or more books and giving it a new ISBN#, so that students cant even find it anywhere; then when you call them and ask them which books are part of the bundle, they refuse to tell you, so you are forced to buy those ridiculous bundles from B&N. If a college bookstore earns a profit, it goes to the college; here it goes to B&N...who will not invest it back or reduce their prices. This is how crony capitalism works.

This Barnes and Noble store in campus is located in a central location and has a lot of things to choose from.

Barnes and noble is just beside Starbucks.

Their advertisement caused me to believe they carried Greek paraphernalia. They DIDNT! I wasted TIME! Wasted MONEY (paying for PARKING)! IRRESPONSIBLE ADVERTISING!
