My car broke down for the first time and i’m in college so it was a very difficult process getting ahold of AAA and figuring it all out. Once it got to Elkins it was amazing. It only took 2 days to finish and the car runs amazing now. Thank you guys so much!!!

Took my work van in just for a ticking sound. Although van was ticking my van still drove perfectly with no other issues. The owner stated that replacing the lifters in the engine will solve the ticking sound. This company replaced the lifters and caused caused the engine to lock up. Owner said he will now have to replace the entire engine due to now locked up. Charged me $4000 to replace the engine. After he replaced engine he told me that now the van is stalling and will not pick up speed normally. He then blamed it on the catalytic converters. I took van to another mechanic and had converters changed and the van still does the same thing no change. The new mechanic as well as Ford dealership diagnosed issue is that it is something wrong with the engine install that was done. They advised me to return van to the person that installed engine. I returned van to Elkins and owner said that the issue is the muffler. Muffler? Ridiculous. On top of that he cut my brand new catalytic converters that were welded in and did not weld them back.This company is unreliable and incompetent. They had my van since June and made it worse than it was when i brought it to his shop,Worst mechanic ever

This is my 2nd visit. My 1st visit a year ago was for an inspection, while this visit was to repair a rear tail light as well as an inspection. Both times I was given a fair quote and timely service! I called on the phone prior to visiting to request a quote and to schedule an appointment, in which one of technicians (maybe even the owner) actually LISTENED to the scope of work and let me know of the charges (provided there was nothing else damaged internally). The young lady at the front was very professional and courteous.They even made sure to save my old parts (per request). Thanks again to the staff for a great experience, and I have no hesitation of returning to Elkins Automotive!

I took my vehicle there and it hasnt been the same and its still not working; one issue lead to another after I brought it there. I ended up paying a hefty bill not satisfied at all. I called and tried to resolve the issue with the owner he accommodated me once but the issue with the vehicle was not resolved. I spoken with the owner again he got upset and hung up on me. Poor business etiquette

My opinion Elkins automotive is the best around. Great workmanship, very fair prices and none of that corporate junk because it’s family owned. I just took my car to Elkins in November and here it is December and Im have car trouble once again, in fact its the very same problem I had back in November... I call to Express my frustrations with having to bring my car back for the same thing, the lady that doesnt do anything but answer the phone hands the phone off to the manager? Still doesnt really know who he was but he gets on the phone trying to tell me incorrect information about my car history at Elkins, which I thought was funny. You run a Diagnostic test on my car but cant figure out whats wrong,now not even two months later Im having the same problem....I see the comment with 5 star and there all are white maybe Elkins Automotive only serves good service that are white, I use to live in mint Hill and that little town is racist its self. I wouldnt put it pass Elkins if they were, I think Ill just start taking my car else where my money is just as good as the next black white it shouldnt matter.....

I would like to leave no stars but no option. Took my car up there to get my headlights fixed. They ran and charged me a diagnostic. Said headlight housing was the problem tried charging me 900$ dollars to fix. Took it somewhere else they told me it was a 11$. Fuse. And boom presto they worked. This place tries to rip you off. Border line robbery and if you look at the reviews has happened to other people.

Called Elkins and was told they had a car towing service. We asked that our car be towed there on Wed and they would call when on their way. No call, No show. Call back on Thur, was told they would def come that day. No call No show. Finally called back that afternoon only to be told they would DEF come Fri morning and for sure take a look at our car that day. We call in the morning. No return call. It is now afternoon -- No call No Show. If you couldnt do the work or towing, At least tell us up front so we can find other help. I understand it is the holidays but now I am out of car for the weekend and trusted you guys for the work when I shouldnt have depended on you.

Sued to get my vehicle back after almost 2 years - Brought one of my fleet trucks in to repair fuel system on my truck that would not run. They provided me a solution to fix the issue, which it did not. Next they started randomly trying different things to no avail. Weeks turned into months, and the owner Eric repeatedly told me they were working on when it was obvious they were not. I drove by once or 2x a week and no movement on the repair after they said “they have someone on it”. Many times they told me my truck wasn’t important as they had to take care of other customers. Months turned into almost 2 years and still no fix. I hired a lawyer, and spent many thousands of dollars fighting with the owner who wanted me to pay for things that were not completed. The court ruled quickly and easily in my favor as this was not how you do honest business. I was given my truck back, not working after 2 years, and they had to pay me for my lawyer fees and trouble they caused our business. I brought my car to the dealership and it was working and back on the road in under 2 weeks. Please think long and hard before having them work on your vehicle, are you going to be the next victim of bad business?

Went here for an auto inspection. Good service at a good price. They were quick and kept my car clean. They have a small waiting area so it could get a little cramped if you visit when they are busy.

Elkins takes care of all 3 of our Jeep SUVs and our small RV. Staff is knowledgeable and owner Eric is always honest and helpful. Its great to have a local auto shop that you can trust where the owner puts his name and reputation on the sign. They can be busy but the quality and honesty and location are well worth planning ahead on the maintenance work.

On a weekend road trip I needed a quick oil change but didnt want to go to one of those fast oil change places. I looked up local auto repair shops and called around. I new immediately that Elkins was a quality professional shop by the way Brian handled my call.They gave me a quote on synthetic vs. non-synthetic oil changes and discussed the pros and cons of each with me; without feeling as if they were rushing through the call or not giving me their full attention.I was told that I could come in immediately but might have to wait for a bit. No problem, because they let me know they had a nice waiting room and it shouldnt be too long. They were right on both accounts. Almost as soon as I finished the paperwork part of geting the car serviced and turned around to make a coffee, I could see my cars brake lights on--letting me know that they were already attending to it.They took care of the car in under 30 minutes so I could be on my way. Overall my stop at Elkins went well. They were friendly, professional, and had a good clean atmosphere; not to mention some pretty good free coffee. Thanks!

We have been servicing our cars at Elkins Automotive since Eric struck out on his own. I think we were his second customer after my in-laws. Eric is honest and trustworthy. His shop is clean with a comfortable waiting area, and his staff are courteous and genuinely seem to care.

Eric Elkins was at the desk to assist me, he was great! He is friendly, helpful, and willing to answer questions. The waiting room is very comfortable with a play area for children, genius! I didnt have any, but there is a very nice coffee station. The pricing for services is extremely fair, and much more reasonable than a few other places I called. Its always such a blessing to find an automotive shop you can trust, and Elkins is my first choice.

This place is horrible! They do temporary fixes, so you can come back and they keep making money off of you. My transmission was almost out and I took to them to be fixed because they looked at a prior car if mine. Prior car had minor issues, was handled so I expected similar service for my current car. Well I paid over $1100 for a transmission service, had minor issues since then but not major enough to return for more service until approximately 6 months following service. When I went back due to car acting similarly, I was told there was a new issue. I was told that I had a leak due to a hose needing replacement and it was time for the transmission to be serviced. I paid almost $400 for this to be performed and approximately a week after services I started noticing spots in my driveway again. Three weeks post service my car starts to act as if there is some type of transmission slip or something again. I called there establishment on Tuesday afternoon of the week and left a voicemail. Called once daily until there was an answer on Thursday afternoon. I explained issue to front desk, Taylor and she states that they’re BOOKED the following day and closed for the weekends and wouldn’t be able to get to it until Monday. I have 4 children whom I cannot transport anywhere without my vehicle that is a SUV. I told her that would be unacceptable because I’ve already paid for this service and it isn’t fixed so inconveniencing me for that length of time isn’t fair. She places me on hold and proceeds to get Eric who tells me he is the owner and it can’t put me in front of everybody he has scheduled regardless of what isn’t fixed. As I disagree with him and tell him that this is not customer service, he says I won’t argue with you and hangs up on me. So I pull into the parking lot because I was already on my way home, as I walk in another customer is leaving. I ask Taylor, who hung up on me and why do they think that’s how you handle customer service. He flies in from in the garage somewhere and says it was me and I’m not arguing with you, you can leave. I said I’m not being rude with you at all, I’m trying to understand why someone can’t look at my car tomorrow to tell me whether or not this is the same issue. He says I won’t talk to you because you’re upset and I’m going to call the cops. I said I will wait for them. He tells me to wait outside!!!! I said no sir, I will stand here against this wall and wait. He proceed to call the cops, my husband meets up there and has a discussion with Eric, talks me down and we left. I WILL NEVER EVER TAKE ANOTHER VEHICLE HERE AND I WILL NEVER EVER REFER ANOTHER SOUL THERE.

Have oil changed, spark plugs changed inspection done but dont go there with a problem that you need guidance on.Do not sign the repair sheet until every I is dotted and T crossed. Have 100% understanding of what their understanding is.If a problem arises do not think they are going to care. Not a good ole neighborhood auto serviceEric Elkins is not a business man he is a crude disrespectful bully.I called to discuss the problem and was confronted very ugly. I made the statement this is BS in the handling and was threatened with bodily harm.The bbb, and the AG is going to get complaints from me.Im even expecting to get possible threats from this post. Thats the kind of person Eric Elkins has shown himself to be.

Professional, friendly and did a great job!

My experience was shaky at first, I bought a lemon, totally my fault. My car was in the shop 6 times in 6 months. Elkins fixed my radiator, my hose, thermostat, shocks, my engine, 3 weeks after that my transmission at that point I was in tears, and the week after that the hole in my exhaust. I have to say Eric handled my situation with compassion, took my attitude with a grain of salt, knocked off a few dollars and just assured me that he would get my car straight and HE DID! $4,000 later my car runs great! I am so happy! Thank you Eric! I would have given Elkins 5 stars but after the transmission job, I had to return because they forgot to attach a hose. But other that no problems.

If you own a Mercedes (or other high end imports, and maybe domestics) beware of this business. I called them, they (Dominick-service writer) said they do Mercedes repairs. After the repair (lift cylinder-2 weeks), I went to pick it up, but the rear end was bouncing down the road, and now the AC wasnt working. I took it back, they replaced another part (valve) which took another 3 weeks. Went to pick it up, and rear end still bounced down the road. They then called Mercedes (again) and was told it needed to be calibrated. I then had to take it to Mercedes dealership to correct their mistakes. I spent an extra $600 for the valve that wasnt needed, plus a new ac compressor that they damaged ($1400), plus $200 for calibration that they couldnt perform...plus the original $1500 + that I paid them. In all, it took them almost 2 months before I got my SUV back...never again! everyone beware, they are rip off artists!

Best Place Ever......

I got my volvo towed there due to it running rough. They quoted me a price and how long they would need to keep it. I found someone that could do it sooner and PAID them for the diagnostic. Got car back, wouldnt crank. Spent a while trying to figure why? Someone had removed the fuse for the starter. Who would do that? Dont trust them and will never take my car there again. So unethical!!

ELKINS AUTOMOTIVE LLC CHARLOTTE - NASTY ATTITUDE AND EVEN WORSE AUTO REPAIR SERVICE! THEY HAVE DISRESPECTED ME FOR THE LAST TIME! MY SIMPLE DIAGNOSTIC TOOK OVER 2 DAYS. MY 8 HOUR REPAIR TOOK OVER A WEEK. WILL NOT USE AGAIN!I dropped my work van off 8 days ago. It took 2 WHOLE DAYS just to get a simple diagnostic from Tim, which I had to TAKE TIME OFF WORK and SHOW UP IN PERSON to get because they gave me major attitude over the phone. When I did show up, Tim told me he was NOT GOING TO LISTEN TO MY ATTITUDE! Had he called in a timely manner, I wouldnt be losing time away from my business or have to come check up on a supposed PROFESSIONAL SHOP MANAGER. I dont think its my fault that 2 of their mechanics quit. I FINALLY received an estimate for 8 labor hours the NEXT DAY. That sounded like 1-2 DAYS work to me at the most. After 8 days passed, I received a phone call from Tim at Elkins, stating that my repair didnt go as well and the work wont be warranted. I called back and asked to speak to Eric, the SHOP OPWNER. He began bragging about being on vacation and talked about how they were behind in work, as if I care. They would not tell me but they tried to weld an aftermarket catalytic converter onto my vehicle but the weld wouldnt hold.I run a business myself and am not as dumb as Eric and the guys at Elkins Automotive may believe. I have a 3-man staff and being without my van means less productivity for me. I have missed out on at least $1500 because of ELKINS AUTOMOTIVE slack mechanics and passive approach to fixing my van.Just 2 weeks ago, I dropped off another work vehicle...SAME THING! NO DIAGNOSIS FOR 2 WHOLE DAYS! WHEN I FINALLY SHOWED UP IN PERSON, the shop owner Eric, comes to me and IMMEDIATELY says, DONT COME UP HERE WITH AN ATTITUDE! I quickly told ERIC, THE SHOP OWNER, to get out of my face and tell me whats going on with my truck before we BOTH GO TO JAIL. ERIC IS A VERY UNPROFESSIONAL SHOP OWNER WITH BAD MANNERS. HE TALKS FAST AND LONG TO CONFUSE YOU AND CONTROL THE CONVERSATION. BEWARE!If you need a shop you can trust, DONT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH ELKINS AUTOMOTIVE CHARLOTTE LLC...just find another one, A DEPENDABLE PROMPT ONE. There is plenty of competition within 5-10 miles to save you a headache. Elkins Auto is losing mechanics and customers as well!ITS ENOUGH THAT MY DAY IS RUINED BY A NEEDED AUTO REPAIR. I would at least like to be treated with respect instead of BEING TREATED LIKE IM SUPPOSED TO BE FIXING THEIR CAR!
