It was baffling….They weren’t busy, somehow, on a gorgeous Sunday afternoon, but three employees looked SO completely confused when I asked “Which flavors are vegan?” that we knew it wasn’t going to be safe to eat there. (Vegan flavors should be clearly marked with their own scoopers labeled “for non-dairy only” or something….)Although I was very excited to share about Ye Ole Fashioned joining the modern world with a selection of vegan ice cream, me and my boyfriend decided to leave without either of us getting one single scoop—never mind my fantasy of sharing a banana split together!
I drove through and purchased the Philly Cheese steak. It was wonderful! Lots of delicious beef, caramelized onion, lettuce and cheese. It also comes with shrooms and jalapeños if you like. Delicious toasty roll and slaw on the side completed my lunch. Friendly service and low price of $7.99 made it a perfect lunch.
This place is well worth a visit. Great ice cream and food. The staff are friendly and attentive and the place was very busy while we were here.
This place is packed every time you drive past so I had to try it. My husband’s family is from the area so he sent a lot of his childhood having ice cream from this shop. I kinda wish we were going for food also because the food looked and smelled great. (Next trip) ice cream was so good even down to the sugar cone everything very fresh, ice cream smooth and creamy.
Delicious shakes and ice cream. Its almost always busy when you go there, but its because they are good. I havent tried their food yet, so this rating is based purely on the shakes/ice cream.
Fun place for burgers and ice cream. We went inside just for ice cream and it smelled so badly of fried food, haha. They have a full ice cream selection and when I order 3 small, single scoop cones they still have each of us 2-3 scoops. They were HUGE!
Pass this place every now and then. Heading to a side job, hungry af. Decided to stop. Opened my bag & everything was larger than i expected. Bacon cheese burger, fries and for a decent price. Yall just gained a long time customer..
We stopped for lunch. They were swamped, but all we saw were employees working smoothly and efficiently. The food (2 burgers and a reuben and fries) were hot and delicious and huge. Samantha served us and she was on top of it, conscientious and professional. We got ice cream and was waited on by Mike. Mike was very helpful and truly service oriented. When we asked about one of the ice cream flavors he apologized saying he normally was just the dishwasher, he just jumped in when needed, but he would find out for us. Everyone in the restaurant acted like they WANTED to be there, that they cared about what they were doing. If I was in the area, Id hire these folks in a heartbeat, they were employees to make any owner happy. So. The food was good, worth every penny. The experience because of these employees was one I will remember for a long time. They made the experience phenomenal.
When you drive up to Ye Old Fashioned Ice Cream you notice two things right away: this local drive thru spot is hard to miss, and its hard to resist. Ive never seen a place quite like it. Its like a cross section of the community, a meeting spot where everyone wants some comfort food. What I love is the people watching. The servers are kind. In the name of comfort food, may you live long and prosper, YOFIC.
Great little ice cream and burger joint. Weve gone twice now in the two days were in the area. The first time we did use the drive thru and our order was received wrong. Which also means that someone else order was wrong as well. With that being said, the food was fantastic and and ice cream is superb. Although a little on the pricey side, their customer service was better than average and Ill gladly pay for that any day. Take an hour out of your day, drive down, grab a sundae or shake and maybe a burger and fries and enjoy yourself. You deserve it.
Great burgers and fries with the nostalgic feeling of another era in time. It was very crowded but staff were still very accommodating and offered personal service. A little pricey but doesnt break the bank. Ice cream was delightful and was more than one person could eat!
This place definitely belongs among the elite of diners, drive ins, and dives. Even though its branded as an ice cream shop it happens to serve some of the best sandwiches in town. Their french fries arent bad either being that they are large and crinkle cut. Ice cream there is certainly living up to going back to that hometown feel of of a small town ice cream parlor. Check out there milk shakes as well. If you happen to go to the West Ashley location I must warn you that parking is limited unless youre willing to use lots nearby and the drive through is usually busy. They do give coupons and sell gift cards.
Food was delicious and staff was super nice. They are very understaffed and only had 2 people working, but they did their best and we didnt have to wait very long :)
It was excellent my wife loved her peanut butter milkshake, and I had and oversized banana split. It was and awesome experience.
Call ahead your order and/or go inside. Do not use the drive thru. It will take an hour. Overall great ice cream. I repeat... Dont use the drive thru.
Waited for my food for over a half hour until I finally asked for my money back and they still weren’t even cooking my sweet potato fries.
The ice cream was good, had the gold digger Sunday. Big enough for 2 people to share. Burgers were good. Staff was rude, rolled eyes and ignored customers. I stood at the counter for 30 minutes without being acknowledged. Placed my food order then had to stand in line for another 30 minutes to order ice cream. Took almost an hour to get 2 cheese burgers and 2 fries. We ate our icecream first. Lots of flies and bugs inside, landing on and in everything
Such an awesome place with kind employees. We had never been, so they calmly waited while we looked. Well....what we ate (Philly cheese steaks, fries, onion rings and slaw) were delicious. We plan on going back for the ice cream too. Highly recommend!!
I love passing by this location when I am in town. It was a bit busy (as expected) but it was worth the wait. They sat me down after 20 minutes of waiting and i was happy to see that the bus boy sanitized our table before sitting us down. I had the chocolate cookie dough with small fries and a grilled cheeseburger.
The 🍨 ice cream is amazing. The blue Cookie monster is my favorite so good it has Oreo and cookie dough together and blue taste like icing. So good 😊 mmmm
Their ice cream was SO GOOD! Well worth the wait on a busy Friday night. I tried the Michigan Mudslide and man it was a chocolate lovers dream! The employees were really hustling. Someone in our party dropped the top scoop of their ice cream and they replaced it without even asking! Would wholeheartedly recommend.
This is my favorite place to go get ice cream! Between the old school feeling you get when you walk in the door, the huge variety of ice cream flavors, and the good food. You cant beat it. Definitely recommend!
The food was okay ish and I honestly wasnt very impressed, but I decided to try thier ice cream and the guy who helped me (his name was Michael and he said he was a dishwasher) was the nicest customer service I have ever received! He cared so much about his work and was doing his best to provide the best service. I hope management sees this review because he deserves to be highly praises because his service and kindness was truly incredible and he made everyone around him smile! He gets five stars! I believe it was at the west Ashley location
Good prices, both Beyond and Impossible burgers available, and friendly service. Good indoor and outdoor seating options... a good stop overall.
Yummy! 😋 My hot fudge sundae was delicious. If you dont call ahead you will definitely have to wait but it wasnt too bad. It was worth it!
This place was great! Lots of ice cream flavors, plus a separate area serving burgers and sandwiches. The line was long (inside and out), but it moved quickly. I visited on vacation and just wish we had one near home!
Although it is on the expensive side its definitely worth every penny youll spend there. I promise you wont be disappointed. Their milkshakes are to die for and their food is also super yummy. The quality is impressive.
Its really good. The small ice cream bowl is 5 bucks but its actually a lot of ice cream. So if you got the money its a good vibe in the store. if you want to meet up with some friends and chill its a good place to laugh.
Wow! Great service. Delicious ice cream. Generous portions. There was a wait on a Sunday evening, but I think thats to be expected for ice cream on a hot, summer evening.
Ice cream, staff and experience overall was pretty good. Expensive for what it is but if you want good ice cream they have it.Did not try food items.
So the food is great. But the service is ridiculous 🙄. They never great you, they always talk in another language. I never get my food all together the last 2 times I we t there I waited 45 minutes for a salad and was told it takes that long even when my family ate all there dinner. Also yesterday I order chicken tenders and fries it took 15 minutes which isnt an issue but they only gave me one ranch and I always at least get 2-3 . She told me its an 80 cent charge and when we mention how we always get at least two they said nothing but kept speaking another language. Worse place ever. WE WILL NEVER COME BACK
Best ice cream Ive had in years! Worth the wait in line at the drive thru. Highly recommend.
Excellent burgers. This had to be one of the best burgers Ive eaten in months. Great customer service and great fries if you like them golden brown, piping hot, and crispy. I would highly recommend making a stop here for a good ole fashioned burger.
On my trip from Miami I stopped here amazing ice cream and that home welcoming Ole fashioned happy greeting service!!!yummmy!!
My family went for ice cream a couple of times. The ice cream is delicious, and they give you good size portions. However, the atmosphere needs some help. Most things look like they need a good scrubbing, including The order here sign was cover in visble dust.
Ice cream is totally awesome. The only change I would like to see is a kid size
We only ordered Ice Cream but it was amazing. Very old school. The menu looked amazing though and if I had not just eaten I would probably have added a BLT to my order!
The sundaes are huge! They are pricey so dont go often. Wish the specialty sundaes came small, medium, large. I didnt have any pecans in my turtle sundae. The ice cream is so so good.
The first night we went customer service was great. The second time there was a young guy who kept skipping customers. We stood and waited for a good 15 minutes and watched this young gentleman skip multiple customer to come and skip us. I understand they are busy but they could pay a little more attention especially when people are standing right behind the person you just served.
Ice Cream has no flavor and very bland. An old lady snapped at me while inside, when I asked for a menu. Redemption came from a tall young man who helped me.
As always good food! Great service even though they were busy. Favorite place to stop for lunch and ice cream when we are in Charleston.
Its worth the wait!!! We tried the turtle, vanilla ice cream sundae Delicious. There is a little long wait, because the food is cooked when ordered, but you can call in your order also. Could use better customer service skills for the person at the drive through..Other than that! Its good.
The food and ice cream is amazing! I love this place! The service is fantastic, you get a ton of food, and everything on the menu is delicious.
Love this place, always have pretty friendly service. This time my icecream tasted old, I had the Praline and Cream on a waffle cone (my favorite). The pecan candy was stale and old, they were all soft, no crunch. But thats not the norm for this place, so I will go back.
Delicious ice cream stop away from the hustle and bustle of downtown Charleston. My wife and I wanted to stop for ice cream while visiting Charleston and found this gem on the way back to our hotel. I ordered a delicious strawberry sundae while my wife ordered java chip ice cream. The strawberry sundae was a piece of pre-made Sara Lee pound cake, vanilla ice cream, strawberries and optional nuts with whip cream and a cherry - which I undoubtedly had added. It seemed as if the whip cream was homemade, but either way, it was delicious!
We dove into the small size cup which two can share! Medium is a man size serving.I forgot to take a photo of it. I got the Coffee flavor. Excellent! We went back again the next day!! They do an excellent business.
We had to stop when we saw the drive through line wrapped around the building. So glad we did! We all had small ice creams that were easily 2 cups each. Lots of flavors to choose from and all of ours were good. We went inside and only waited 10 minutes even though the line was long. They work quickly!
Ye ole Fashioned Ice cream had me at Ye!Great old fashioned ice cream and burger joint with quick service, a smile and a come as you are attitude ! ( mask / no mask is all good at Ye Ole ) Love the oldTime feel and the tasty treats served by smiling and hustling staff.. bravo ye Ole for keeping the 50’s style drive in burger / ice cream alive ! Yummy yum yum
One of our favorite place to eat whenever we come to Charleston we love the ice cream as well as the food
Was delicious 😋 and very pleasant greetings outside order and delivered on time hand to you while sitting in car.
When its not totally crowded the service can be good and also the food
Hands down the Best banana pudding ice cream ever!! And great customer service.
Besy ice cream. Everything made to order so may take a bit longer in the drive-through but worth it. Food is delicious!
Great shakes and burgers with lots of different types of ice cream!
If I could give 0 stars I would. The food was extremely overpriced, the fries literally tasted like frozen store bought fries but we’re $5. The restaurant was incredibly, and I mean incredibly disgusting and unsanitary. Do not come here if you care about your health, this place will most likely make you sick.
The sundae I had was phenomenal. I also had a burger that was made with love because it was slap yo momma good.
So much more than ice cream! Gargantuan sandwiches overflowing with bacon or tuna salad or whatever, and crispy krinkle fries! They cant be beat.
Above average creamy ice cream. Try their specialty sundaes.
Pretty good ice cream but it wasnt as creamy or unique as I was expecting
THE slowest drive thru in Charleston. Hope you have a full tank if you get in it on a Sunday night. Holy cow 🐄
Great ice cream!!! Not certain if waiting over an hour on the drive thru was worth it! Perhaps they might try taking the order from the driver, giving them a number, assigning a parking spot waiting area, and then bring out the food. This way the next car can order, get their number, wait, and so on. By doing it this way, if car #3 for example only orders a few items than they get their order and can leave not having to wait for Car#1 who ordered a boat load of food. EZ Peezy!
Worth the wait! BLT is fabulous! I couldnt finish the ice sundae. It will feed two people. Clean, giod food.
Food is okay. Ice cream is in the name and the reason to come here! Huge scoops, lots of flavors! Try it, youll like it!
This place makes the best sundaes. They are huge with plenty of toppings for a reasonable price. This is a stop every time in Charleston. My favorite is the Reeses using banana pudding ice cream.
Waited a little then got food..., not done quite how I asked. Very loud in dine in.... had a issue but I spoke up and then took care of it! And then manager came and apologize. That was good.
Just ate a burger from here and it was the best one Ive had in a long time. And it was the first time I ever had one from there. It was worth it. Great job.
Service and food was all great! We will definitely be back when we visit Charleston.
My chicken sandwich was good. However, they forgot Joshuas hit dog.
Awesome food! Great experience! Go off his tho bc the lines can get long!
An unfriendly staff with a poor attitude and an unclean restaurant. Do not eat here — it’s overrated and not worth your hard-earned money. Eating food off the floor is much more preferable than eating food from Ye Ole Fashioned.
Always has the best BLT ever. Always made fresh with friendly customer service. Food has never let me down.
We used to go there once a week. However, since covid we had to stop. We recently were able to visit again. Not sure what happened but the food isnt the same. Fries way over cooked and the burgers didnt taste like Angus meat.
Unimpressed. Dirty tables. GFS frozen food. We got 2 hot dogs, hamburger, tots and kids chicken strips. Kids meal was not good, tots had no flavor, burger came out wrong the first time (and the second), hot dogs are jumbo but not cooked long enough for that size. The soda were good, staff was friendly. Won’t return.
The food was great 👍The staff was friendly too!Great place to hang out and eat.
A very pleasant experience. Clearly understaffed but still was able to get through the line in a timely manner. The guy at the register was very polite and had wonderful customer service, even though you could see they were a bit overwhelmed with the amount of orders comming through.
Wide variety of icecream and good sized portions
I dont see what all the hypes about. Ye Ole Fashioned has an old-school diner feel, but the food is more greasy and the employees arent particularly friendly -- like Victoria who works in the back. She could and should do a much better job treating customers and rideshare couriers equally.
Good fair, 45 minutes in drive thru line!GET A SPEAKER!!!!
Great ice cream, huge portions. Great way to cool down.
Best Customer Service! Fresh Home made ice cream and Best Burger
Great food nice helpful employees..Best ice cream
Grew up going here every Friday so its a very nostalgic feeling. things have changed because of the pandemic, and thats okay but I do hope they start going back to their original ways!
Great place. Last Saturday it was a Big guy, who made for us fantastic banana splits! We’ll definitely coming back next time we visit Charleston! Cheers!
