I recently bought a 2021 RAV 4 Prime at Fred Anderson Toyota in Charleston. I was connected with Josh Wood as my salesperson, which mad my purchasing experience about as easy as it gets. Unlike other salespeople in competing dealerships, Josh stayed in touch throughout the ordering and delivery process. He must have called every other week to update me on my order and ask if a newly arriving vehicle met my specifications. Ultimately, the car came in and the deal got done, but his involvement was crucial in a happy outcome for this customer.
This is the 2nd vehicle my family purchased from Toyota of Charleston. I needed a vehicles ASAP as I sold mine to my son since his vehicles transmission went out. Wendy, Eric and Matt made this experience seamlessly. I contacted Wendy on a Wed on a vehicle I saw online and could not pass up on. Next day I met with Eric (Best Salesman Ever) and Matt ( who worked effortlessly to find me the best rate and deal for my purchase). They had me out of the door in less than 3 hours. My first experience was great for a used car, fast forward today I went and bought a brand new Toyota Camry 2021. My wife and I just purchased a 2021 Highlander Hybrid from Fred Anderson of Charleston. We could not have been happier with Matt Kinard in sales. Needed a check up on my 4 Runner because my tire sensors were lighting up. I spoke to a service representative named Jamie. Has to be one the best reps Ive met on a car lot. He was efficient and super sweet, I had my truck fixed in no time.I have told all my friends that have a Toyota they need to go here!!

They found a substitute and kept the outstanding deal that I had. Josh just sold the very first Toyota Corolla Cross. CALL JOSH TO GET A CROSS - It is NICE!!! I highly recommend Fred Anderson Toyota of Charleston. Andrey and Jeremy have been super helpful with price and communication throughout purchasing process which took almost 2 months due to limited supply of cars. Their financial manager was also very kind and provided lot of helpful information.On a side note, avoid Hendrick Toyota at all cost!! They were not willing to negotiate price at all since they know supply is limited and didnt bother let go of a potential buyer since theres going to be another fish in line. On the other hand, Fred Anderson offered much better deal for the same exact model.
I came in just looking to replace the battery of my 2012 Prius key. My key was held together by tape and I was ready to leave with it covered in tape. Kenny made sure that my entire key case was replaced AND worked before he let me leave. He was so kind the entire time and made sure that I was happy. I’ll definitely be coming back to Toyota Charleston!

Eric was great, the process was smooth (and Blake the manager came out and was super helpful and friendly too). They handle all of the taxes, registrations, etc for you for free, which is a nice bonus. Price was competitive as well. Recommend!
I made an appointment online 2 weeks ago for a 7:15am Family Plan oil change, specifying that I wanted JUST THE OIL CHANGE. Last time this was done, it was $12. I waited 2.5 hours and decided to seek out someone. I was told there was some paperwork that had to be finished, which stated there was a different service performed that hadnt started until 9am. I was charged $30 and the advisor couldnt explain to me exactly why this was. I called to ask for more information and was told the advisor would call back in 5-10 minutes after speaking with a customer. That was 2.5 hours ago with no response from anywhere. The work you request isnt whats done, nobody can explain why youre charged extra for a service you requested not be done, youre charged 3x what was stated and now there is a check engine light that wasnt present before. If youre must go to get car service done find a reliable mechanic, go to a quick lube shop, do it yourself. Spare your time and money- go anywhere else but here.
My last car was getting up in miles. It was a good car but I was looking for something newer but not brand new. Fred Anderson Toyota had a 2021 Kia Forte GT with about 7,000 miles on it. Taylor Dunn showed us the car and was very helpful in explaining the features. He also worked with us to get the financing where we wanted it to be. By the time we were done, it was well passed closing but Taylor was very pleasant and cheerful the entire time. The whole experience was very satisfying.
My best friends has been a loyal customer for the last 8 plus years. She bought her car from Fred Anderson Toyota. Today she was scheduled for a 4:45 oil change. She left St. Stephen at 3:15 and due to the horrific traffic she did not reach Fred Anderson until 5:05. After an over hour and thirty minutes in traffic they turn her around and denied her service. The best they could say was she could reschedule. They didnt even bother to look up her history with the company, check the back to see if they could rush her through, or offer her a loaner and do her service in the morning. If I could give no stars I would. I seen and heard dealers providing gas cards as a courtesy in these situations and the services previously mentioned for costumers. Fred Anderson should be ashamed of themselves but I guess she can join the rest of her family and use Rick Hendrick Toyota. By the way she was also interested in browsing today for a brand new SUV today.
I moved to Summerville from Pittsburgh, PA where I had purchased my 2014 Tundra Crewmax, brand new. I needed to have the oil changed and I took it to Fred Anderson. It was pretty uneventful even though it took much longer than I had expected. When the truck was due again for an oil change, I called Fred Anderson Toyota to make an appointment. I am retired so any time was good for me. The first appointment was almost two weeks away but I took it anyway. I arrived at the dealership about 15 minutes early and they promptly took my truck. The first question they asked me was whether I had purchased the truck from that dealership. I explained that I had bought it in Pennsylvania. They told me that the oil change would take an hour and a half to two hours. I waited THREE hours and my truck had not yet been serviced. I asked what was taking so long and was smugly told that there were still two vehicles ahead of me and that they had no idea how long they would be. I was also told that if I was not happy that I could reschedule. (no apology involved). I told them that I had an appointment to which the service assistant said yea, everybody does. I told him that I would be rescheduling but not ever at Fred Anderson. He handed me my keys and I drove straight to Take 5 Oil Change where they immediately changed my oil.It was interesting that when Take 5 went to change my oil they noticed that two of the rear bolts for my skid plate were missing. There was only one bolt holding the back of the skid plat in place. Since the one and only time I had the oil changed in South Carolina was at Fred Anderson, I can only assume that they did not put all the bolts back in the plate. (Had the bolts been missing from before, Im sure they would have told me and charged me for two new bolts).In summation, I had THE most horrible experience ever at Fred Anderson Toyota of Charleston. They were rude and inconsiderate. Perhaps had I said that I had purchased my Toyota from them, I would have been given more respect and consideration.DO NOT PATRONIZE FRED ANDERSON TOYOTA OF CHARLESTON!
We purchased our Prius from Fred Anderson Toyota in 2017. Since that time we have had very good experiences with each of the service representatives. But, I have to say this time Ms. Elizabeth McDowell exceeded any of our expectations. While she is very professional in the way she presents herself, all throughout the process, ie, check-in and check-out I have never felt more comfortable and accepting of the service results. Additionally, Fred Andersons service technician provided a video of the service process on the vehicle. He pointed out that the break lining parts while still serviceable will need to be replaced at some point. I called Ms. McDowell and received an immediate response with a question I had concerning the break linings. In summary, I would say that Ms. McDowell is an exceptional person and employee.
My wife and I bought a 2022 Toyota 4Runner SR5 from Fred Anderson Toyota of Charleston about three weeks ago, and the experience was exactly what we were hoping. The sales professional who helped us was Taylor Dunn, he was an awesome person to work with. He went over all of the details in-depth with us, answered all of our questions, and even pulled over to teach my wife how to turn on the headlights when she was driving the new car home at night! Extremely pleased with our new car and couldnt have asked for a better experience!

My service manager, Mike was fantastic. Answered all my questions. I had a problem with my AC and he took the time to understand the issue, validated the problem with me and then got it repaired. I left my vehicle and was surprised to get a call virtually first thing the next morning to say it was ready. Love the personalized service. They are always on top of things!! When I finished checking in with the service advisor at approximately 12:30pm, I was told it would take about 30 minutes to do the work on my car. An hour and. half later, I went to my service advisor and asked for an update on my car. Was told that she said it would be ready around 3o’clock not 30 minutes. This absolutely was not true. 3 o’clock and 30 minutes do not sound anything alike, so I know I did not misunderstand. Normally I get excellent service at this dealership, but today I’m very dissatisfied with the poor communication.

Ive been happy with the purchase of my SUVs here over the last 10+ years, but the service department is deplorable! In my most recent purchase, I was provided the complementary Family Plan which is described as our never-ending commitment to you and your vehicle. However after receiving 2 oil changes, I am thoroughly disappointed in the lack of customer service and the complete disregard for my time and inconvenience. During both oil changes I had to wait over 3 hours for service of my car. At the end of both oil changes I resorted to seeking out the person that had my keys so that I could avoid missing any additional work. I was hoping that the first time was just a bad day for the service department, but was proven this is a standard for business in my most recent oil change. I recommend removing this offer to future purchasers since it is a complete slap in the face for my 10+ years of loyalty to this dealership!
BY FAR, THIS WAS THE BEST EXPERIENCE IVE HAD AT A DEALERSHIP, TOYOTA OR OTHERWISE. From my advisor, Michael, to my shuttle driver Barry. Everyone was so kind and helpful. I appreciated my technician and his inspection, I just can’t remember his name. I brought in a used car that I had just purchased from a private seller with absolutely no idea what I would need. Michael immediately pulled up vehicle history and gave me an honest evaluation of what I would need. I’m pretty big on getting a car serviced regularly and have been able to tell when someone is trying to sell me stuff I don’t need... Not once did I get that impression. I have another car that’s a Nissan and I WISH I would’ve purchased a car from here before I did, solely based on my first experience.
So I this is my third time going to Fred Anderson in the past 3 years and the reason why is because Ive been able to save so much money with every vehicle Ive gotten. Matt Gladwell was my dealer and he was very friendly and very honest and helpful. Even after buying the truck I needed to move stuff from my old truck to my new truck and he came to help and it definitely saved me some time. All I have to say is if you want to buy a Toyota used or new or even if it isnt a Toyota Fred Anderson in Charleston is one of the best dealerships Ive ever been to and maintenance is a breeze.

The Service Department at Fred Anderson Toyota has a great team of people! While traveling I severely damaged my radiator and needed to replace it right away. I called to schedule my appointment fearing a waiting list of a week or more, but after explaining I was not local and the damage was severe, they scheduled me for the next day. I was expecting this repair and replacement to take at least 2 days, however these folks completed the work in 1 day! I am truly thankful to Jackson and his team for their great work and I was impressed with the overall experience here.
I love my new Venza! The sales person (Matt Gladwell) was laid back and helpful - very knowledgeable and not high pressure at all. I liked that there was a lovely Ruby Venza on the lot - a color I did not even know I wanted; I liked that I was able to take the test drive alone . And, once the deal was sealed, the Finance associate was very accommodating and helpful. Great experience! (one tiny point deducted for lack of coffee:-) .

Excellent service. Salesmen were pleasant and not pushy. We were there near closing time and they let us keep an 11 Kia overnight to see our mechanic in the morning. Ultimately chose another car (no mechanical problems, just fell in love with something else). They were very polite even after I turned them down.
Purchased my car late Feb last year. My car salesman is no longer there. Though the process of purchasing my vehicle was great...service of purchasing was not so good. Because I bought a pre-owned Nissan from their lot...I didnt get the same benefits or privileges I would have gotten I had bought a Toyota. I feel like any car for sale on your lot should come with the same benefits. Picked up my car after being serviced & and I was not satisfied with the condition I received in it. Wont recommend this place. Bare Minimum Customer Service & Unfair Treatment!!!

Sharing our experience with Fred Anderson Toyota’s service department- We took our camery to this dealership thinking they would provide the best service as is dealership standard… they said they balanced our tires and completed tire rotation as we paid for and immediately the day after pickup I knew something was wrong. The steeling wheel was now crooked when driving straight, why would that happen? Called and spoke with the service tech who said that may have happened with the tire rotation and balance, bring it back by and we will fix it. Annoying and time consuming to have to take it back but appreciated their willingness to own the issue and help resolve. So got there Saturday and they said they weren’t going to do anything unless we paid them another hundred or so since their service wouldn’t have caused this - that’s mixed messaging. Now a few weeks later we took this vehicle on a road trip and it was shaking at high speeds which could be caused by not balancing the tires correctly which is something that was supposedly completed and paid for less than a month ago at this dealership. Very sketchy and feels like unethical business practices. We will never take our vehicles to this dealership again. I wish I had looked through recent reviews before taking our vehicle because it looks like the service department has had many similar issues lately! This dealership needs to better their service to the quality expected from Toyota and your customers.
I purchased a Highlander and DJ was my salesman. I have purchased many vehicles but I have never had a salesman like DJ. He answered all my questions, he was very patient, he was very kind, he was very knowledgeable about the Highlander that I purchased. He made my experience at Fred Anderson Toyota the most pleasant ever. If you are thinking of purchasing a vehicle then ask for DJ, you will not be disappointed I promise.

Had the 45,000 mile Fred Anderson service on my 2019 Highlander. Nico Paez the Asst. Service Manager and his Team did a great job in getting it done in a timely manner. The new Video report that I received from Chris the Tech that serviced the car provided a detailed run down on Tires, Brakes, Windshield Wiper, and Filter status. It was deeply appreciated. It certainly provided a visual confidence measure that the service checks were detailed and complete - a credit to the General Manager for having made that investment. It is clear to me that this Service Department thrives on taking care of its core customers (my fourth car from Fred Anderson) and their manner by which they treat their customers is absolutely first rate. Sales folks were quite helpful. The finance person added an additional $2000 back into the price by hiding it in the summary under other, and flashed it to us as the last document we signed. I have discouraged others from doing business with them and their multiple dealerships. Finance personnel can either make or break a dealership. Fred Anderson’ s was dishonest to me and I will not return. I’ll go to Chatham Parkway in Savannah. You may pay a bit more, but you will be taken care of honestly.Within a day of my review the Sales Manager contacted me and worked with me to resolve the difficulties I had with Finance Officer for non-disclosure. Don Esher, the Sales Manager resolved the issue to my satisfaction. Can’t ask for more.
Making the appointment online was very easy and convenient. The video of the technician performing the inspection was exceptional customer service and very informative. Outstanding!
I just recently bought a 2013 Ford F350 from here. Great truck. Chris Jennings was my salesmen and couldnt have asked for a better one. He went above and beyond. Melissa handled the financial part of the sale and was very good too. All other staff was very friendly as well. Rodney took good care of me; showing me all the available cars, letting me go on a test drive, making sure the car I wanted was coming to the dealership and following up to make sure I knew when it would arrive. Never in my life have I’ve ever been told by a Service Advisor that if my car were hers, she wouldn’t fix it!!That is unbelievably good!!The Service advisor (Crissy) was honest, friendly, professional and very knowledgeable about my issue.I despise upselling and Chrissy was so honest and helpful.I highly recommend Anderson Toyota of Charleston.!!First class operation!!
When I purchased my truck I signed up for the friends and family plan. They only talked about oil changes for the life of the truck. So if had my oil changed a few time no issues. The last time they said I needed an engine air filter, and a cab filter. They said it would cost 40 for each. I told them I would do it and they said ok. So i purchased the filters for less than 20 dollars for both and put them in. Last week I called to have the oil changed and they said Im due for my 90k service. I asked what it was and was told spark plugs replacement. I said Ill take care of it and the person on the phone said ok. Saturday I went to have the oil changed and the man said that I would have to have new plugs installed I asked how much he said 270 plus tax. I told I can replace them and it would cost me about 130.00 he proceeded to tell me it doesnt count that that they had to do the work. He also said they had to replace the engine and cab filters because I had replaced themAnd they had to do the work. I wasnt happy and left mad. I will not go back there and still up set. Life time oil changes really sounds like a blank check plan. I was so happy when I purchased the truck a couple years ago.
UPDATE: Unmatched customer service. Mr. Rhoads took matters into his own hands and made sure I got taken care of! A GM is a busy person, but he went out of his way and it is highly appreciated!

It was good. Video was a nice touch. Never saw that before. Everything I needed (only oil change and tire rotation) was done quickly. I took the late afternoon appointment and go out in under an hour.
I’ve been a repeat customer since 2016 and never missed an appointment. Sometimes it can take a little longer than expected but I understand how busy it gets. My last two appointments were the fastest I’ve been in and out ever. Deanna promised me she would have me in and out in record time and I’m here to tell you she wasn’t lying! This is the first dealership that I ever seen that show a video in real time as they do maintenance on the vehicle and show you what is recommended. Also Im very impressed at how the salesman Rodney handle the sale and was so courteous and did not pressure you into making a decision this is a awesome dealership when it comes to purchasing a Toyota

Talked to Shannon and was given 2 vehicles to look at and when arrived was just pawned off to 2 different people and was then told that one car was sold and it had only been 45 minutes since spoke to them!! Totally rude and extreme lack of customer service! Never again will I even consider them and will absolutely not recommend to anyone!!Im editing my review because Blake called from Fred Anderson Toyota and was very sincere and really wanted to correct the way that I had been made feel. I really want to thank him for reaching out and making me feel like even the little guy matters too, again thank you.
