DO NOT GO HERE! I cannot stress this enough. Jim and Madison (the store manager and assistant store manager) were of zero help and were some of the rudest managers I have ever dealt with.I took my car to them with specific instructions that I needed it to be inspected and safely drive-able on a 8+ hour car ride. They replaced the battery, but when I mentioned that the brake-light and check engine light were still on - they told me to drive it around the block a few times which should fix it. I trusted their professional opinion and attempted to drive home. The car broke down almost immediately.I went back to the store and after some talking they said they would tow the car to their location and they would give me a call tomorrow. I handed over the keys, assuming they would recover the car. They called the next day and said that they didnt know where my car was. I never received an apology. DO NOT GO HERE

This place has serious customer service issues. Had my AC blower replaced. They tore up my stereo system and the manual gears showing park and what gear the car is in. They did replace the part after two weeks of waiting. They also broke my ac control head and refused to fix this because of the botch job they did when taking off my dash. They have lied and said they cannot find the part and it is not their fault. Do not trust them. Use a local mechanic such as Dinkins and Brysons. Avoid at all costs. Good for tires and nothing more!

Madison and Jim...are not qualified to be a manager of an auto repair shop. After calling and asking that full diagnostics be run on my girlfriend’s car which had not been able to start or run for over a month on 1/12 at 9:24AM, Madison the store manager decided to do a courtesy check and determined the battery needed to be replaced. My girlfriend was charged $220 for a battery replacement and was told that they were unable to check any other mechanical issues as the replaced battery would reset any codes that might come up. After hearing this and starting the car, we brought it to Jim the assistant store manager’s attention that things still weren’t running correctly, the check engine light was on, the brake light was on, and that we felt unsafe driving the vehicle. Our feelings were pushed aside as we are not car experts, and we were told to, “drive it around and see if the problem stops” as they couldn’t do anything more at the present moment. We asked them if they could do the full $99 inspection and were told no because it wouldn’t help. After all of this we drove the car off the lot and within 1000ft the car broke down on the side of the road leaving us stranded in a merge lane and we were almost rear ended immediately. After walking back to the shop from where my girlfriend’s car broke down to seek help and guidance, Madison and Jim asked us “What do you want us to do?”. And proceeded to tell us it was our problem and there was nothing to do. After pleading with them they finally decided at 5:15PM on 1/12 to help us. They took our keys and called a tow truck to bring it back to their shop, and let us know it was their responsibility . At 7:00AM this morning 1/13...14 HOURS after being told a tow truck would get our car, we got a call from Jim telling us our car is missing and they can’t do anything about it. At this point we stated we would be calling the police and were told by Jim “I think you should”.DO NOT GO TO THIS SHOP. DO NOT TRUST MADISON OR JIM TO BE PROFESSIONALS.

After the Firestone on Sam Rittenburg screwed me over and denied to see me, even after I made an appointment the day before, the Folly Rd location came through. I had made an appointment online for Sam Rittenburg for Sunday at 4pm. When I got there they denied me and said just because I made it online doesnt mean they had me on their books. They turned me away. I called Savannah Hwy and Folly Rd- and tried to explain the situation- not that I had waited until 4pm on a Sunday to call, but rather I was under the impression I had an appointment at Sam Rittenburg. Folly Rd was amazing and very understanding and accommodated me in the last hour they were open. Very quick service and very kind. I highly recommend driving the extra 15 minutes out to James Island rather than dealing with the rude people over on Sam Rittenburg.

I had a wonderful experience at the Firestone on James Island, 525 Folly Rd. I live in Mt. Pleasant and had recently purchased tires from the Fire stone store in Mount Pleasant and had purchased the roadside warranty and when I had a nail in my tire and tried to get the store in Mount Pleasant to help me, both stores told me they were too busy and it would be three days before they could see me. I called the James Island Firestone and they were so helpful they told me they were very busy but if I brought the car over they would definitely fit me in they were very kind and helpful and the whole process was taken care of in less than two hours. Jim was very helpful. I would highly recommend. The Mount Pleasant stores can learn a few things from the James Island store

DO NOT BRING YOUR CAR HERE FOR ANYTHING. I know all shops make mistakes but most own their mistakes, make things right and honor their warranty in a timely and reasonable manner. This one does not.My alternator died so not wanting to drive far I took it to this Firestone since they are the closest shop to my home. After I paid over $800 for them to replace both the alternator and the battery which they insisted was necessary, the car died again the very next day. So I brought it back first thing when they opened the following day. After leaving it there all day they finally call me at the end of the day to tell me that the battery they had given me had a bad cell so they replaced it with yet another one. At no point did they apologize for the hours of my time and money on ubers that having to bring the car back a second time cost me.Couple months later, I notice that the battery light is coming on at higher RPM and the car is laboring to start again. So I call Firestone yet again to let them know that I am having problems with their parts/work which are both supposed to be under warranty according to them. Not only did they seem not to care and not offer so much as an apology, they actually told me that they were booked solid for 10 days and could not look at the car until then. I said again that this is related to parts & labor under warranty by them, that this is the SECOND time Ive had to go back to them for the same work, and that I cannot go 10 days with a car that wont start without a jump. They insisted that they would not so much as inspect the car if I brought it in prior to the 10 day wait. So I took it down the street to Geralds who were happy to get it in the following morning and told me that Firestone failed to tighten the belt tensioner and had also installed yet a SECOND battery with a bad cell. So I had to pay another $180 to get a THIRD NEW BATTERY that should have been covered under warranty by Firestone. Firestone claimed that both of the new batteries they installed were brand new, but the tech at Geralds said he had never seen 2 new batteries in a row have bad cells in 25 years on the job so they were likely misrepresenting poorly refurbished batteries as new ones.

First I have been a loyal customer with this location for over 14 years having them service all 3 of my vehicles! This morning I went to this location to have a screw removed from my tire. I arrived well before they opened and waited patiently. When they opened before I could get a word in he told me he could not help me and I had to go to a different location. So I went to the recommended location and they told me I had to go back to the james island location as they could not help me because my truck (2019 F350) was to heavy. So the moral of this experience is that while james island Firestone used to be a great facility the management at this time is rude, not interested in helping the customer and more or less a waste of time to try and get anything done.

I chose to take it here because I work Monday through Friday and they’re open all day Saturday and Sunday, so I figured they’d have plenty of time to figure out the problem. They figured it out in a few hours and had a super reasonable quote for the work. However, when I came to pick it up, the problem wasn’t totally fixed. I took it immediately back in and Madison, the manager, immediately took it back in the garage and apologized for the inconvenience. I should also mention that this was at 5:45, 15 minutes before they were supposed to close. I fully expected to have to wait until the next day to pick it up but much to my surprise, they had it ready to go a couple of hours later. These guys apparently routinely stay past close to make sure they have their jobs done. When I picked it back up later that same night, the problem was fixed and they didn’t charge me a penny extra. I’ve been a costumer at the James Island Firestone for 5+ years but will never go back. I had issues with my car overheating. Sunday firestone was booked so I quickly went over to Take 5 who spent 45 or more minutes looking over everything in my completely free of charge. They told me there was no leak in my coolant tank but possible issues with the water pump or a clog which could be resolved by flushing the coolant system. Monday I took my car into firestone and explained this to them. When I came to pick my car up they said they changed my coolant tank and it should be fine now. This repair cost 350 dollars. I drove my car for less than 30 mins and my engine began to overheat but even worse than before. Tuesday morning I took my car back in and my father had to tell them what to fix since they didn’t even attempt to diagnose the problem the first time. I was offered 15 percent of my service and paid another 570+ dollars for them to repair the actual issue which was the water pump. Disappointed that they went for the “simple fix” to make an extra 350.

This review is strictly on the lack of customer service I, a woman, received from the store manager, Brett. I brought my car in about two weeks ago for an oil change. My radiator cap was left off during maintenance and I did not find this out until my car lost all of its coolant and overheated on the Atlanta interstate. In all the years I have gotten an oil change, I have always been taken to my car and shown the dipstick for the oil level and that my car has coolant. This was the first time and place I have not been shown this after the oil change. Thankfully my car is fine but when I called Firestone and spoke with Brett, the manager, he had every excuse he could find as to why my radiator cap popped off and my car overheated. Instead of taking responsibility for something that Im sure has happened before, he spoke down to me and belittled me on my knowledge of my own car. I was very taken aback by the lack of customer service Brett gave me. He offered to drain the water that I had to put in and refill it with anti-freeze, but not before he claimed numerous times how little of a chance there was that the mechanic left the cap off. I have checked my coolant levels since this incident and there is no leak and no other issues with my car, therefore no reason for my cap to pop off. I will not be bringing my car in to have this fixed or for any future needs purely on Bretts lack of customer service to me.

They identified the cost of the breakdown. Cost $350 more than Geralds to fix the issue, so I payed the ~$60 diagnostic fee. Firestone left all the bolts in the distributor out (lost) and left several wires unplugged. Have had two experiences with Firestones prior to this one: one went well, the other didnt. This makes two bad and one good.

If theres a special place in hell for people who drive too much, I fear I may end up there. Approximately 40,000 miles a year is about what I average, and so I have dealt with many mechanics over the years. If something isnt dealer-specific, then I always lean towards mom and pop independently owned shops. However the Firestone on James Island breaks that trend for me. This place has become my go-to in Charleston. All the mechanics I have met there are good and reliable, nice guys, but one of the managers, Madison is counter man Numero Uno - a really helpful and super cool guy. Hes how I wish everyone was in their jobs and dealings. A straightforward, smart, knowledgeable guy who is honest and takes pride in doing the best he can do with what he takes on. An auto scholar and a really nice guy, Im glad I met him and will keep on going their with my Jeep repairs. Hopefully that wont be too often, but when stuff comes up as stuff does, this is a spot to check out for nearly all auto repairs and service. My two cents...

LOOK AT YOUR BILL CLOSELY- Went into this Firestone to find some new tires for my wifes car, then scheduled an appointment for her to go in a few days later to have them put on. She sent me a picture of the bill when she left and turns out they added road hazard protection, plus a TPMS Kit and labor for each tire...charges she would have refused, had they even bothered to discuss them with her. Instead they threw them on there without saying a word, testing her to notice and refuse the services on the back end. A tire shop hiding unnecessary services in a bill without bringing to the attention of an unassuming customer...such a cliche but still happens. This was the last of our cars to be serviced by Firestone.

And he says thats not what I said Anyways our conversation ends with me (again politely, being the key word) saying if they would please let me know a little sooner next time that they wont be able to get to my car to which he FINALLY apologizes for the communication issue. To wrap this up. Its fine that they didnt get to my car but I needed to know so I could come pick it up obviously before they closed so I had a vehicle for work the next day. Still its okay they forgot to call, these things happen. Whats not okay is not being given an apology right off the bat for a simple mistake that was made. Whats not okay is being spoken to with irritation or frustration that I did not deserve. I will not be coming back to this location not because I do not appreciate Firestone as company but because of this experience. Customer service matters and because one man assumed I was just another disgruntled person he lost one customer today.

We had a flat and went to firestone to see if they could repair it. They did and then charged us $20 (a service that would have been free at Geralds). Currently at Geralds getting another tire fixed and they inform us that the tire that Firestone fixed is dry rotted and should have never even been put back on the car because it could blow at any moment. Firestone should have informed us of the quality of the tire before allowing us to drive off on an unsafe tire. Will never give them my business again.

To beef up the review in response:Pros: Everyone has been polite at the store and they are often able to fit my car in same-day if I leave it in the AM. The location is walking distance from several apartment complexes and housing developments.Cons: Twice I have dropped my car off and not gotten a call about the work being finished until I called myself at the end of the day. Once I called and was put on hold and physically drove to the location, still on hold, and walked in to ask my question and found that someone had just forgotten to ever pick the phone back up.I had an alignment done at Firestone and took my car to another shop the next week to have my calipers/brakes/rotors replaced (was $550 at another shop compared to $350 to just replace one caliper at Firestone) and the other shop told me that there was no way that a real alignment could have been done with how loose my tie rods were (which the other shop also replaced for me) and that I should have been told to replace them first.Recently, I had my AC stop working and took it into Firestone for an evaluation. I was called on the phone and told that it was due to a leak in my evap core, and that they could replace it for $1500. I told them if it was just a leak to just do an evac/charge so that I could buy some time with the AC unit until I was able to get the evap core replaced. They did the charge, but after my AC still wasnt working at all. I asked about it, and said that something else must be wrong, as all of the freon couldnt have leaked out in the 30 minute time period between when I was called about the job being done and when I picked up the car. They told me that they charged it and did the AC evaluation, but due to the evap core leak it wouldnt hold a charge and must have leaked out. When I asked more about it the mechanic had a piece of paper with other potential issues, but wanted to do the evap core replacement first. I was never informed about these other potential issues before asking for the evac/charge (and they werent listed on the paperwork I was given). The mechanic kept telling me that if there was a leak, that was the primary issue, and nothing else would work until that was fixed.... that didnt make sense to me, so I took the car to another shop and they said that the compressor for the AC was busted and that there is no way the car could ever cool until that was fixed. It was replaced, and the AC works again. They said that there was a leak in the evap core, but it was minor and only needed to be replaced if it was an issue. I got a meter to test my AC pressure and it has been holding constant for two weeks. The essential fix that Firestone wanted to do wouldnt have fixed the problem. The other shop informed me that their cost to replace the evap core would be $800, almost half of the $1500 that Firestone wanted.TLDR: Basically, Firestone didnt tell me all of the information about what they found, so I asked for a service based off the limited information they gave me (which didnt fix my problem), and then they still wanted me to pay $1500 for a fix to a problem that wouldnt have gotten my AC working again (which a nearby shop wanted only $800 to fix).

Eh...prices are what they are. dont have time to drive around comparing but dont seem all that great. service, well I sat in the lobby for 20+ minutes before walking up to the desk to find that they needed my approval for an additional repair, would have been nice to to call or simply ask me to come to the desk instead of waiting in me to approach. felt like a waste of my time which is important to me. disappointed in the lack of awareness that their customers have timelines and schedules. not my first choice of place to get tires but it is what is and given the lack of options on James Island I will most likely be back.

I am very dissatisfied with my service. I bought destination Mud terrain tires which war very expensive and paid for an alignment ($1000 total), they messed up the alignment which chewed up my tires on the front in a month and a half. I even purchased a roadside protection warranty . I have been waiting on them for almost 3 months for them to get my tires in stock its like they just keep putting me on the back burner. One set of tires did come in but they sold them immediately without even checking with me. Even after I went in and paid for the tires which should have been free they still put me on the back burner. Brett the manager was in charge of all this. One lady by the name of Andrea told me on the phone that they would give me four new tires Plus put one on my spare at the low cost of $60 (the price of mounting/balancing) which was completely untrue. I will not be using this Firestone again. Still waiting on my tires.

My five star rating is based on these reasons..* Superior automotive knowledge and experience* Exceptionally friendly customer service* Employees show real interest in delivering great service to their customersBeen here twice and i will continue to go back - these guys have the BEST service. My first trip in I presented them with an unusual problem; I broke a couple of studs off my wheel. The setup on my car has aftermarket wheels and spacers which required studs with a unique length. These guys really went above and beyond and had to call just about every parts supplier to get me back on the road. They were kind enough to give me updates during the process and had my car ready in no time. I really felt like my problem was important to them, and every person I interacted with at their shop was a real pleasure to speak with.

Unfortunately I drove over a massive Charleston pot hole. Low tire pressure light came on instantly. Both tires went down but rear tire was worse. When I removed tire to put on spare I noticed the rim was bent. I order new rim and made the mistake of taking it to the firestone on James island. I asked them to check all the other wheels and tires for damage and rotate. They called the next day and said there was flat run wear on the tire and it needed to be replaced. We didnt drive that far on it but I thought Id trust them! I know you should never just replace one tire so I had them replace two tires. And again I said keep the best two tires and rotate them. After spending $300 with them with in a week the low tire pressure light comes on again. Now the right front tire is low and guess what the rim is bent! They didnt even look at that tire or rotate it when I had it in less then a week before! So once again take tire down to firestone and the manager Madison says no problem nothing some bead sealer cant fix. Seems like a big dent for bead sealer but ok your the professional. How reliable is this stuff I asked him. 100% reliable we use it all the time. Its now three days after picking up my 100% reliable repair and Im sitting in firestones parking lot about ready to pull the tire off again and put on the spare because the tire is low... And they wont do anything about it... Wont even take five minutes to have one of the techs switch out the bad tire for my spare! The associate I just talked with said he saw the rim and thought it should have been replaced! My trust factor is zero with these guys... And yours should be to!! Do not take your vehicle to this place!! Oh ya the ironic thing... Guess where the manager Madison is... At a national manager meeting....hope they have some great trainers there!

I live so close to Firestone that I would have no other reason to take my car anywhere else given the choice, had they provided honest, forthright, and good service. Firestones customer service is great, when they are speaking to you on the phone or you are in the shop about to spend money. My 2018 honda accord had a low pressure warning, and after checking my tires I could not for the life of me figure out what was causing it. One tire was slightly low but not enough to be too concerned. I took it to firestone asking for them to take a look and, if need be, patch the bad tire. After they inspected my car, they called to tell me that it could not be patched because it had a puncture on the inner wall. I would need to purchase a $200 tire to replace the old one. Wanting a second opinion I took it to the Honda dealership and told them what Firestone had told me. After multiple different inspections over the next 2 hours, Honda was unable to find ANY punctures AND found that the tire I thought was bad had been filled BY FIRESTONE to 57psi. The tire itself had a maximum capacity of 50psi. Reason for the low pressure warning had been that all tires had lost bit of pressure from the weather. So firestone gave me a FALSE inspection and filled my tire over its capactity in which case it could have popped with any slight puncture it supposedly already had. Complete incompetence and terrible service.

I wish I had read the reviews before going here, complete joke! I dont know where they find the mechanics, but they have no idea what they are doing. I cannot imagine how they stay in business either. DO NOT GO HERE! Incompetent, rude, would not return my calls, kept my vehicle for over a week to do a simple repair- THAT WAS TO FIX THEIR OWN MISTAKE! I cant even imagine the damage that has been caused to my vehicle as a result of their poor workmanship, and will be contacting corporate to file a complaint and recoup my lost money...
