Had them do a fair number of upgrades to my Fiat 124, including springs, sway bars, brakes and new exhaust. They did awesome work and, while not cheap, is easily worth the money for the professionalism they employ.(Little things like greasing polyurethane bushings so they dont squeak, doing multiple road tests and getting everything done in a week). Will use them exclusively going forward...

J & L was recommended for wheel alignment by Gordon at Far East Motors, also in Chamblee. I arrived a few minutes before my appointment. Shad, the service manager, was professional, knowledgeable and welcoming. If the car does not need alignment, we wont do anything to it and give it back to you. I asked if I could wait on it. Sure, he said.After about an hour, the technician who worked on the car came into the office with paperwork. The job was done. Shad showed me a printout showing two diagrams: the before misalignment of the four wheels and the after alignment. I was impressed. The charge was $79.99.I drove the car from their parking lot, and right away I could tell the car was driving much better than when the wheels were out of alignment. It was definitely worth the trouble. I had just bought two new tires, and it would have been a waste to wear them out unevenly on the misaligned wheels. Now the car drives straight, and the tires can be expected to wear our evenly.I recommend J&L after this good experience. They do a good job, and they do it efficiently.

I have had all of my automotive repairs and preventive maintenance performed by J&L for over 35 years. I have dealt with Randy, Gabe and Shad during all those years. I have found them to be expert mechanics, fair priced and provide excellent Service. One time while performing some preventive maintenance on one of my cars their mechanic found a $20 dollar bill in the back of the car. They put it on the front seat so I would see it when I picked the car up. Quality people and very honest!

J&L Auto Service was established in the 50s during that time there were mechanics not part changers J&L still employees mechanics that have that same mentality and skill. Chad the service manager is extremely knowledgeable also polite and friendly always willing to help. He keeps the shop clean and well-equipped. They service both new and vintage vehicles. You just cant go wrong by choosing J&L theyre the best!

I have been bringing all my vehicles to J&L for 30 years. They are the most honest group of individuals you will ever deal with. I have had minimal maintenance service to major repairs. They keep my vehicles running like new for well over 150,000 miles. I would not trust anyone else with repairs.

Cant say how much I appreciate these guys. Being a female and not from the city to get a lot of personal recommendations, finding a mechanic has always been a challenge for me.J&L is GREAT and Im going to recommend them to anyone who may ask me. For one main reason... HONESTY. I had an issue that cannot be quickly (and without a lot of money) competed [went for an alignment, but found it my undercarriage is extremely rusted and seized]. They tried their best to rectify my issue, but called me to let me know the real damage and didnt charge me for the work they did try their best to complete.Just that makes me so appreciative. J & L is a great local business that I would not hesitate to return to or heartily recommend to anyone needing car service. They were very accommodating when I was unable to bring my car in for the first two appointments I made. When I finally was able to stop in, they listened attentively, checked out the car, and explained exactly what could be causing the issue I was having, which was likely just due to a faulty sensor with no need for any service (which our family mechanic corroborated). They very easily could have said I needed a new transmission but they were honest and told me exactly what was going on, not with jargon but not dumbed-down either, and sent me on my way with no charge. They are pleasant, honest, and I would go back to them in a second if I did have to take my car in for service.

It is hard to find a good, honest mechanic. Ive had a great experience over the years with J & L. I have an old truck that needs frequent repairs. Great shop especially for older vehicles. My 1986 Jeep CJ7 has finally found a proper mechanic. I brought it in for a minor oil leak and they advised that the brakes were more of a priority. Brakes are now completely safe and useful as normal. Oil leak is very minor. The better shops treat customers this way; honesty is best and service will bring you back. My old Jeep needs work but J and L helps me prioritize those needs focusing on safety and reliability.

I wish I had come to them sooner. They were recommended by Discount Tire and do great work. Their prices are really reasonable and are upfront and honest about the work they do. They also call to ask permission or discuss the cost and necessity of a job before beginning work which is most appreciated.

My husband Michael brought our Nissan van in, and J&L corrected an issue that even the dealership was hesitant to assist with. J&L talked with him abut the issue, how the part worked, and was completely transparent about the entire process. The work was done in an 90 minutes, and while waiting, Michael had a fun conversation with Shad about some of the cool cars they take care of in the shop (GT40). Hard to find honest and friendly service...these guys epitomize it!

I dont think I have received such service at an auto place in quite a long time. These gentleman have a very lost touch...called honor. No upsell, no scare tactics just the facts, maam! My favorite local garage. Family-owned. Staffed by honest, knowledgable managers and mechanics. They will tell you whats broken and prioritize repairs from the must-be fixed (things that are unsafe or will damage the car) to the optional.

I have taken 3 cars Ive owned to J an L Auto (American and German). They have done a great job with all repairs and general services. I find their prices are fair and in the same range as other shops. What I like most, is I feel they are honest with what needs to be performed and do not try to up charge you like dealerships do.

Very knowledgeable people, they did extensive tests to pinpoint a sensor issue which although is pretty common to a PT Cruiser can have multiple causes. Yes - the car was ready for the emission inspection in less than a day.After getting ripped off multiple times at various other places is nice to see that somebody really cares more about the quality of the work and about their patrons than about quick profit.

The people are FRIENDLY the service is GREAT and they get the job done right the first time. My engine was damaged with oil that was causing my car not to run well. Not only did they save my engine they help me avoid additional repairs. I took my car in to J & L after the mechanic at Discount Tire discovered a big alignment issue when replacing tires. Shad, the manager was very helpful and clear when explaining what was wrong with my car-he even printed out the computers diagnosis of the problem and gave me a copy. They didnt try to upsell me or suggest additional services. They were straightforward with the price and ordered the bolt kit I needed on the spot from a place down the road and had it delivered and installed within 45 minutes. Im thankful Ive found them and will return when I need to. They are dependable, fast, and completely customer-oriented. Dont waste your time going anywhere else.

We have been going to J&L for several years now. Its hard to find a mechanic you can trust--someone who will do an excellent job and not try to upsell you at every turn. J&L is that place. Everyone there is very friendly, honest, and skilled at what they do. You can trust that they will do the work well the first time and take the time to truly diagnose an issue, as opposed to replacing things willy nilly until they get the right one. They will also take the time to explain to you exactly what is going on with your car and what needs to be done, as well as what can wait. Highly recommended!

I find it very odd that this place wont let you use your own parts I totally understand the warranty issue but all they have to do is agree they wont warranty the job this is the first place that I have come across that does this makes you wonder how much theyre making on the parts & besides why the hell would they throw away business the service is were they make most of their money I assume not so sure with this place??
