One of my usual go to place for Matcha Soft Serve. They give you heaps of icecream and they are delicious.

Premium matcha soft serve ice cream is good, but $6? They have a big menu, but a lot are in Korean or Japanese maybe and not explained in English. They were out of mango frappe, so I ordered strawberry instead. It was pink and tasted like it’s artificially flavored. We also ordered the maiko special, and we liked it. Family like the place, but not for me.

Not sweet at all. So darn good.

If you are looking for matcha, this is the place to check out in Centreville!Pictured is the Maiko special. One is mixed with both matcha and vanilla and the second was matcha only. Inside was cereal, matcha chiffon cake, chestnut and mochi! It was delicious and will be back for more!

YUM! This is definitely a must try place, especially if you’re in the DMV area. I tried Ube (a type of sweet potato) ice cream for the first time and it was AMAZING! Highly recommend trying it if they have it available. The matcha is amazing, I’ve come here a few times for matcha ice cream. Also cute instagramable place!

Amazing food!So, why you ask, did I give a one star rating? Well...the service was so horrendous, but unfortunately zero stars is not an option. Could not understand the mumbling employee at all. My sister and I both clicked print receipt on the credit card pinpad. For both my transaction and my sisters transaction (we both selected the same option for receipt), the employee immediately threw the printed receipt in the trash, and when I asked her for our receipts she gave a reaction like she was being burdened to do so. If not for usually having a different employee most of the time, and quality food, I would never return. Customer service is not a priority for this emplyee.

Green tea is super delicious and not overly sweet. Green tea and vanilla swirl ice cream is great! The sweetness of the vanilla is a good balance for the bitterness of green tea ice cream. The cone is the best Ive ever had! Nice and clean place and I LOVE the artwork displayed on the wall!

A friend recommended this place, so my boyfriend and I tried it and it is really good! I got the Golden Shogun ice cream, and he got the vanilla and matcha swirled soft serve. Both were really good! I dont know what is in the gold stuff they put on the Golden Shogun, it is very different, but very cool!

Matcha is my favorite flavor for everything, so as one can imagine I was so excited when this place opened up near me. It was extremely crowded when it first opened, but I imagine it has died down substantially. If you love matcha, you will love this place.

This place is a hidden gem! There are so many items on the menu we had no idea what to try. We both got the Maiko special (one with just matcha ice cream, another with the matcha and ube mix, with gold on top). Sooooooo GOOD. We were amazed by what was all in there. Besides ice cream, there was mochi, a big piece of chestnut, cereal, jelly, cake, and red bean. Never had anything like it!! Our only complaint was that the gold costs $4 extra and it was only a little piece (seen in picture). It does not add to the taste. It’s more for show and the experience of “eating gold”. But something to try at least once. Can’t wait to come here again and try other menu items!!

If DC had Bon Matcha (now permanently closed-very sad) and Maryland has Kyoto Matcha, then Virginia has Maiko Cafe Maiko. I absolutely love this place. This is a MUST try place. They now have another location in Tysons as wellI love everything matcha but if you are not a matcha lover, Maiko also has vanilla, black sesame, ube (purple), hojicha soft serves. They used to have matcha mochi waffles, but because of covid, they no longer have them. However, they still have matcha crepe cake ($7.50), Matcha Panna Cotta ($4), and Japanese Cheesecake ($6).Very cute sitting area, a great place to work or to hang out with friends. Free wifi and a unisex bathroom (ask for a key) are available. The owner is very nice and friendly.If you check-in on Yelp, then you get a free mochi ball :)

I love matcha anything - - tea, ice cream, etc so I was excited to learn this place was opening up near me. The matcha soft serve is amazing! The staff is great and is very helpful in explaining the items on the menu.

Although the café is small and busy, their desserts are great. The ice creams texture is amazing and their matcha doesnt taste too bitter or too sweet.

Went to Cafe Maiko with the family and tried the matcha mixed soft served along with their matcha and ube donuts. The soft served was very creamy and full of matcha flavors. The donuts was fresh and full of filling which was very good as well. We will definitely come back since the quality of their products is top notch. Will try out their matcha floats and frappes next time.

Within the last few years matcha has become extremely popular and with it, new ice cream parlors are sprouting up all over the place. However, Matcha Café Maiko is a cut above the rest. MCM opened about two months ago in Centreville and has become an instant hit. They serve matcha EVERYTHING! I tried several matcha items on the menu and everything was extremely good.Although very new they do a great job maintaining the property. As for the staff they could not have been any friendlier and helpful with my orders. Additionally, they got all my orders out to me quickly and correctly. I look forward to coming back soon and trying something new on the menu. Keep up the great work MCM! See you soon!

Had their matcha float yesterday. I dont know if it has laxatives but it gave me massive diarrhea and nausea the entire day. (Jk about the laxatives but really i was suffering because of that ice cream float)

Been waiting for years for a fully matcha themed cafe to open in the DMV area and is finally here! Also, finally to able tryout this place after hearing about their rapid expansion in the west coast with great reviews.Was really looking forward for this place and did not disappoint at all! If you have ever been to Tsujiri, this place is basically comparable. The matcha desserts are a bit pricey but you do get what you pay for-- good size portions and the quality/potency of the matcha. Whenever those new fancy boba places (moge tee, mi tea) from NYC makes it wave to the DMV area, you would think that this place will be a bargain!The shaved ice was actually bigger than expected-- could easily share with another person though not enough of the soft serve! The vanilla soft serve was pretty good-- more milky taste than cream. The matcha soft serve is very good. You probably wont like the soft serve here unless you are a matcha fan. It is a bit in the matcha bitter side and not too sweet at all compared to a lot of the other matcha places where they add a lot of sugar for balance which means lesser quality.Now I do not have to go NYC for real matcha soft serve anymore unless I want a more sugary kind! Would come back here as much as I can whenever in the NOVA/Centreville area. Hopefully a MoCo location is in the works!

The workers are very nice. They purposely opened up the shop an hour early to serve us! We usually eat at the Hawaii location and we must say that this location is just as consistent. High quality macha is used in all their products. Generous portions and as always excellent quality!

Are you a Matcha Lover? Then this place is meant for you. The quality of the green tea is good, prices are reasonable, great environment to spend with loved ones, friendly stuff. Worth trying it !

Great place, fast service, soft serve is amazing, not too sweet!!

It is actually really hard to get good matcha lattes around here. Most matcha lattes have a grainy taste. Im so glad this place opened up. Its packed at certain times, but the service is usually quick. I would check their busy times on Google. Love the seating area and the Japanese decor by the entrance. My favorite is the Maiko Special parfait with matcha ice cream and the matcha float with matcha ice cream.

The ice cream machine was down for a little bit but I got my match ice cream. They have a long menu full of yummy treats. The only thing that was an issue, I wish they could change in the future was that they did not have the calorie count on any of items on the menu. I think it’s the law that they have to disclose the calories on food items.

Went here with my fiancee for dessert. We both got the matcha soft-serve, which was really good. The other menu items looked tasty; we will be back!

The Matcha float was okay, the ice cream on it was good. But the drink part of the float was 90% ice and I think I paid $14 for two of them. I feel like everything in this menu is the same. For me personally not worth the money.

This place became my fiances favorite matcha place (and mine too lol). Hes a matcha lover and he couldnt let this opportunity to try a matcha ice cream go! He loved it!! And so did I. It can be a little pricey, but its definitely worth it! I cant speak for the rest of the menu since we only got to try the ice cream and Matcha Cream latte. Next time we make another trip to VA we are definitely stopping by again!

Oh my. I dont think there is a place that could transport me to a hip green tea cafe in Asian like Cafe Maiko. First of all, huge kudos for introducing all green tea based drinks and there isnt a single drink item that is out of place. Secondly, the green tea flavor tastes like green tea. This cafe did not skimp on the green tea ingredient and therefore kept the quality of green tea flavor high.If you go, try more than one drink. And remember, green tea actually has a good amount of long-lasting caffeine. So dont make the same mistake I did and got over-excited consuming an extra-large all green tea shake at 10pm Sunday night.Overall, more than happy to see an establishment like Maiko offering green tea based that tastes like authentic green tea drinks. There is no other place around the Centreville area like this. Very very happy to see green tea cafes penetrating the overall area since this is just something new that no one else is doing.

Best matcha soft-serve Ive ever had. My favorite is the matcha soft serve float. The matcha lattes are really strong and delicious. Cute and clean atmosphere! Definitely addicted.

Discovered this place recently and it is a dream come true. Matcha ice cream is one of my favorite treats and this place does it right! Strong, good quality matcha flavor and not too sweet. Most other places have a weak matcha base and way too much sugar. So happy to stumble across this matcha paradise! Tried the Maiko special which was fun and full treats. Honestly, everything on menu is delicious.

Very good green tea soft serve. Its not too sweet and they have several toppings and combinations available. Friendly and quick service.

Ice cream is tasty and delicious, but you definitely need to like matcha to enjoy the green tea taste. Good news is they have other flavors (vanilla and ube), waffles, and more. Has a nice vibe.

I had the vanilla soft serve but tasted none of the vanilla. Not sure what I tasted but it wasnt very soft. The cashier Karen was nice and friendly though.

Great place for anything green tea related. Green tea soft serve is a must have. Make sure you stop by the shop next to it too. It sells lots of Asian stationary and small toys.

This place is clean!! And it has a tiny area but for little kids seating area with some toys. The staff were very friendly and kind. The original yogurt flavor was not as good as Sweet frog’s, but for the cleanliness, I would choose to come here!

Best soft serve you can get, especially if you want matcha flavor. Matcha special is a parfait dessert which is really similar to what you can get in japan.

Quality matcha and LOVE their mochi waffles 😊 it comes with whipped cream and chocolate syrup ( they ask if u want it or not before they serve) and u can also add soft serve for $2.

Well I only got a matcha vanilla twist on a cone. All in all it was pretty good the matcha is a bit stiff here, and the vanilla not too sweet lol. I was the only person in the cafe at 4:30 on a Tuesday I can see why they don’t have many customers everythings over $5. I also wish they would make another 2 Flavors for Pete sake it would do some goOd. Like a really sweet&rich chocolate and a strawberry with no chunks in it, would go great for the soft serve matcha variants 😧🤑

Good soft serves and floats. I recommend trying the hojicha tea. The décor is really cute and the space is clean.

The place looks very nice but the macha items are extremely packed with macha, more than most would be used to. I enjoy most things macha but I was a little overwhelmed by it. Trust me and get something like macha and vanilla mix the first time unless youre a huge macha person.

I dont get the hype. The matcha ice cream is ok, the flavor isnt anything new. Taste like matcha ice cream bars you can buy in a box at Lotte. The shaved ice is basically sugared ice water, and not enough flavor.

This place took over the old tutti frutti spot! The interior is pretty much exactly the same. We went as a group and got several different treats including the soft serve, matcha latte, matcha float. All were pretty good, strong matcha flavors, they dont skimp like some places do. The floats were underwhelming, for the price, rather just get straight matcha ice cream. The latte was pretty good but overly sweet, recommend asking for less sweetness. Theyre open until 10, so great spot for dessert after dinner.

The reason Im giving Matcha Cafe such a low rating is because they are charging almost $10 for a very small portion of matcha, and they are genuinely producing a bad product. My friend and I both left feeling cheated.They give you a cup with matcha at the top. I emphasize that matcha is only in the part that is above the rim of the cup, and that the actual cup is filled with a layer of what I can only describe as dry stiff off-brand frosted flakes, and then a layer of yellow cake and sweet bean mixture. When I got to the yellow cake and sweet beans I found it tasted very bad, and ended up throwing it away. I was very disappointed with the entire ordeal. Nothing about what I ordered felt like it complimented other things in it. It all just felt like completely separate experiences, and most of them I disliked / didnt want.The amount of average tasting matcha that I got was what Id be willing to pay $1 for, and the fact that I spent almost $10 makes me feel cheated. If you want matcha, my suggestion is that you look elsewhere.

Got the matcha vanilla swirl for myself and my boyfriend ordered an iced houjicha. Both tasted just fine, but we liked the soft serve more! We agreed that the iced houjicha would probably taste better if there was a hot tea certain instead. But what are the chances of that happening 👀Well be sure to come back when were in the area~

Matcha softserve machine broke and they still kept taking orders knowing it would be a long wait. they did dont tell the customers that it would take a while. Ive waited over half an hours. still havent gotten anything. we are leaving this place.

I went here with my boyfriend and cousin after dinner because I love eating ice cream after having a meal. It was me and my boyfriend’s first time here.I got the matcha latte float, my boyfriend got the matcha soft serve, and my cousin got the matcha shaved ice.I looooved my matcha latte float, I was happy that it actually tasted like matcha and not just like vanilla with a hint of matcha. It was a perfect combination of ice cream and a drink.The service was great, the girl at the front was very nice and everything came out quick.If you’re craving matcha I would definitely recommend you go here to get your matcha fix!

The ice cream here is awesome if you like matcha. I would stop by here if you really love matcha. It is good but I prefer matcha tea vs the ice cream I dont know. Its still awesome. I would come here if you are in the area but wouldnt go out of my area to try this place.

Tutti frutti closed down and it became a matcha dessert place. Very unique- serves many different types of matcha drinks and icecream. If youre a matcha lover like me youll thoroughly enjoy this place.They even have little wooden blocks for you to decorate and hang (it may be an opening thing so go and make one before they run out!)The store is a bit small, limited seating but its cozy nonetheless.

Currently in soft opening mode, but I was so excited I couldnt wait to try it. We drove out to Centreville for lunch and stopped by Matcha Cafe Maiko immediately afterwards. Matcha Cafe Maiko first opened in Hawaii and has now spread its wings to the contiguous U.S. and Canada.Because its a soft opening, the full menu is not available. However, there are still many options to choose from. I, of course, had to try their soft serve ($5.50). You can get it vanilla, matcha, or mixed. It comes in a quintessential waffle cone. I also decided to order a hojicha latte ($4.25 for a medium).The menu is quite extensive, and I cant wait to come back and try more items. The parfait, shaved ice, iced matcha, matcha kuromitsu kinako, kokuto jelly, matcha frappé, matcha float, matcha snowflake...really anything matcha-related. As a matcha fiend, I am so thrilled to have more matcha options in this area. Its also great that they have a lot of hojicha items too, as I love hojicha as well.I thought my soft serve was very tasty. The matcha quality is much, much better than some other places that try to do matcha (probably because they import their matcha from Kyoto). Not overly bitter, not sugary, perfectly creamy. The hojicha latte was also great and paired nicely with my mixed soft serve. Everything is a little bit on the pricier side, but Im so unfazed at this point having lived here for so long. All in all, I had a great first experience at Matcha Cafe Maiko and it makes me pumped to revisit and try more!

The matcha ice cream is absolutely amazing, from the consistency/density, to the sweetness, to the matcha flavor. Would definitely come back for the ice cream. The floats on the other hand, have quite a bit of ice, which was disappointing, but the matcha flavor is nonetheless thorough through the drink and ice cream. The parfaits, shaved ice, and most of the flavors are currently unavailable (until its officially open?)Atmosphere is very relaxing and simple; nothing really clutters the store, aside from a small part of the wall dedicated to ema. The wall of ema (wooden prayer plaques) is a great touch and customers are free to write and hang up their own.

Looking forward to the official opening. We tried the matcha latte float and hot matcha. Both filled with authentic matcha flavor. The mochi ball topping can be better. The center is a little hard.

First off, the service was great. There were two male employees. Both were very opening amd fun. Unfortunately, the flavors are not as prominent and--dare I say it--tasty as some other places such as Sweet Frog. My biggest issue was with the tart flavor. Tart is supposed to be a froyo classic, but this place did not make it seem that way. The toppings available were very diverse. I wouldve like to see regular granola. Overall, the experience was okayish. It wasnt terrible, but I would pick other locations over this one in the future.

YUM! I was so sad when Pinkberry closed, but Sweetfrog was always a good backup. Now Tutti Frutti is definitely on my list as well! Its basically the same thing as Sweetfrog, but different flavors and toppings on any given day.
