Zeke installed a gorgeous new cedar fence for me a few weeks back. It was a bit of a bizarre experience as I was it of town when they came to install the fence. I worked with Zeke over the phone, he sent me pictures verifying everything and exceeded my expectations. Would definitely use D&N again!

Idk, idk how or when did I go there

Called right after the storm and was told we do not or will not service anyones fence that we did not install. Website says that as well. I understand that y you should service your original customers but I installed my own fence almost 15 years ago now I have Parkinsons and we lost all 300 ft of it. Was replacing with vinyl instead of wood but when I was told this (and told as well that it could be 2 years) week I guess they must be going very well for themselves to not even offer to put you on a list so your loss, I have made other arrangements. Again, I understand your loyalty to existing customers but to turn prospective new customers away, well that is going to catch up to you some day.

Very easy to work with the office people to set up the contract anfd timing. They were able to come do our fence before the estimated 8 weeks timeline we were told. Chad and his colleague were very easy to work with and very professional.

The fence is fine, the customer service is not. Our contract stated they would call Iowa One Call and have all lines marked prior to beginning work. They did not make this call, they used the markings Iowa One Call made a week previous for our surveyors. They cut our internet cable (in fairness, the markings made by IA One Call were terrible--but D & N failed to fulfill their stated contractual obligation to ensure due diligence). When I called to ask to them about the circumstances of the line cut, I was completely ignored. We have been ignored via phone, text, and email. Ive been without internet for more than 10 days due to this mistake. They were very prompt with our invoice, however.

Took them five months to put a chain fence in. I even called a month before I bought the house to measure the yard and get on the list. They came after around month an half after measuring yard put the corner post in then left till around three months later. They said the support posts were not long enough for my yard so they had to get longer posts. Fair enough I want it done right. They called me a month later and said they were welding extensions onto the posts to make them longer. I called few fence places and they said why would someone weld extensions on post when you should just use longer posts? The guy putting in my fence couldn’t really explain why they were welding extensions onto the posts they had. Fifth month they came one week put rest of posts in then a couple weeks later came and finished job.

I have used D& N Fence twice in the past. Im very pleased at the work that they have done. I will definitely use them again if I decide to put in any fencing at my new house.

I called and left a voicemail requesting a call back. Days went by and nothing. I called again and a woman took my info and said someone from the office would call me back. No one did. I understand everyone is busy, I work in retail so I get it. There is no excuse to ignore customers - at least let me know what is going on.

We had D&N put in a fence at the same our backyard neighbors did. The actual work was good. However, the communication from the company and the workers were disappointing. They never called us to let us know what day/time they were coming. The most disappointing thing of all is that one of the workers started cussing out the other contractors in front of my 4 and 2 year old. His behavior was absolutely inappropriate!

D & N fence Company was very good to me yesterday. They helped me out when the Lifeline fence company that installed my fence wouldnt.

The old guys running this place are rude and disrespectful. Weve never been treated worse and they dont seem to care. Was told contractors dont keep them busy so I guess well contact with someone else. Terrible customer service and very unprofessional.

I see the negative ratings and it usually happens because of a bad experience and people cant wait to spread the word. However, I have had a great experience with them. I have had all my properties done by D&N fence, and they have always stayed in contact with me. They have answered every question and they have even came out a few times to offer me ideas and suggestions on a problem area in my backyard. They are a busy company, so keeping that in mind, makes it understandable as to why it takes a little bit of time for them to get to you. A busy company means a successful company in my eyes. Their bids come in a little higher than all the other bids I get, but reviewing the quote, they use better/thicker material, and the quality of their work is amazing. Very trust worthy people and I know that if I ever do encounter a problem(which I never have)- they will be there to make it right. They have shown up to every appointment/bid as to the other companies, have done no-shows and/or have had to reschedule every time. Thank you D&N Fence :)

Great people to do fence

If you need a fence in the Cedar Rapids area, I highly recommend this company. Reasonable prices, great to work with and they get the job done to your satisfaction.

We bought a house with a cedar fence installed by D&N two years previous to our purchase. Within the first year of ownership, the posts and pickets were both rotting. Our neighbor said the previous owner had problems with the fence the first year after installation. To top it off we have a friend with the same fence from the same company, its rotting at the bases of the posts and pickets are falling off at the nails, just like ours. We will be replacing a 4 year old fence this year. Im sure its their cheap-o fence, and that if you went with a higher quality product you wouldnt have these problems, but Im leery of any company willing to install such junk. Well either use someone else next time, or Ill be installing the next one myself.

Trying to place order,first they say they are open until 5pm,and im told winter hours they close at 4pm? no one sees that posted....i drove clear across town to find they were closed.not sure they want buissness too bad when i spoke to them on the phone,possibility of snow they may leave even earlier with a trace to an inch?Doesnt sound very customer oriented to me...about to take buisness somewhere else...maybe they dont need it?..sigh....

I had a very strange interaction recently with D&N fence that has left me with an incredibly bad taste in my mouth.D&N had originally put up the fence around my backyard for the previous owners of my house. After a recent windstorm, one panel of the fence had blown down. I called D&N to find out what it would cost to have them come out and nail the fence section back up. On the phone, the person I talked to was fairly rude and I wasnt really given a chance to talk at all. He told me hed add me to the list and took my phone number. I asked when someone might be out to look at the fence and he told me he had no idea. When I tried to give further information on what had happened and what I wanted, I was essentially hung up on.Now, five days later, I got an estimate in the mail from D&N for an entire repair and renovation of the entire fence; a cost of nearly $2,000. At no time did they call me to get more information about what I was looking for, or even give me a heads up that someone would actually be coming to look at the fence so I could talk to them and explain what I really wanted.No way am I going to keep trying to work with them. Ill just nail the section up myself and if I have any further needs for fencing, Ill go somewhere else for them.

Just wanted to add a review for those that are phone shy (like me). I had been browsing through the reviews the other day after we hadn’t heard anything on our fence for a few weeks, and I had planned on calling them once the holiday was over to see if I could get an update. I was literally shaking making the call because almost EVERY review said people on the phones were mean. I haven’t even met anyone yet, and I know we’re going to have a pleasant experience. Both the receptionist and the gentleman, Jim, that I talked to were pleasant and professional. I didn’t feel a single ounce of negativity during my conversations. Will update review when fence is installed, but the people on the phones are NOT mean!

I hired these guys because the price was right. They are taking FOREVER to get the project done. I should have only taken a reasonable crew a couple days to do this. Its been since JULY, and we keep getting the run around. They keep this up....my attorney will be contacting them.

Wasnt going to leave a review unrelated to their product until I saw another review with the same negative experience. D&N fence truck hauling a trailer driving aggressively on I80 despite near stand still traffic due to a terrible accident.

Great customer service

They were so rude. Yelled at me on the phone and wouldnt listen to me just talked right over me. Told me they were coming the next week to put in a fence. 2 weeks later still havent heard from them so thats when I called to see what was going on and thats when he got defensive and rude to me. He was unwilling to listen to my concerns and answer my questions. I told him to refund me and 5 mins later he called, said sorry and they will be here tomorrow. I told him to forget it and refund me. Im not giving that much money to a company who is going to be rude and yell at me as a customer.

Never have I ever dealt with a company who was so rude and unhelpful to its customers. After 6 weeks of dealing with this company, being yelled at by its workers, and still no fence to show for it... Ill take my business elsewhere.

Guys on the phone are impatient and condescending. I can only imagine what the attitude will be like after they get paid if I have problems. Not worth my time to deal with companies like this.Management may want to rein this in unless they enjoy reviews like this and many others below.
