My got my engine serviced there and it literally died less than an hour later. Even after a second trip, the check engine light was still on. Never again.

Lucas got me in and took great care of me. Very happy happy happy. Fixed me up in a pinch. Coming back soon!

Had to return twice.140.00 the first time second time they wanted 500.00 . Never fixed the problem. We had to take it to Pro Muffler I will let you know how it turns out.

They got me in last minute on a Friday night. Manager went out and took care of me even though it was close to closing time. Great service!!!

I cannot recommend Tuffys enough! When I first moved to Cedar Rapids, I didnt know where to go for a mechanic and from our first interaction, I knew this would be my place. Tuffys is not only professional, they are honest and work with you to make sure you are back on the road. Nick was exceptional during my most recent interaction.

I came to get a simple oil change but with the oil change you get additional amenities such as tire rotation, them checking the fluids and all of that good stuff.or at least I thought it was. I came in with 2 service lights on ( engine coolant & windshield wiper fluid was low ) when I left out my tire light was on as well as my engine light. customer service is superb but the work not so much. I do not want to take my car back to them scared it may not start up the next day lol. Don’t let them do any serious work on your car you guys!!!

I called multiple times, over the course of an hour, 2 or 3 times each time. If they cant even answer a phone, I bet fixing cars isnt their strong suit...what a shame

Disappointing! I needed a simple tire repair. The tire leak was not fixed, and due to this failed repair I needed to replace the tire. A representative from Tuffys offered excuses. This shop failed to fix a minor tire leak, costing me money and time. This failure brings no desire for free services as compensation. Terrible customer service. Would not recommend.

We took our car to Tuffy NE CR in the past. The culture was to push extra sales on customers, not very honest attempts. That was our first and last service from CR Tuffy. Recently, I was running an errand around Tuffy’s neighborhood and I happened to stop by to recheck their current service deals. I met with the new manager Chris Moore. He was a good listener. He asked good questions to understand about our prior experience. Chris won our business with his kind, professional, honest service and can-do attitude. Obviously, he is trying to make everybody happy there both his team members and his customers. Chris Moore makes a difference in Tuffy NE Cedar Rapids. We hope he will be a long-time manager there so we can service our both cars with a peace of mind.

This place definitely adjusted their prices on the parts. Most other places told me the price for the same parts are half the cost. Really upset when I heard this. Also the labor was a little overpriced, also my first time taking my car to this place. Would definitely NOT recommend going to this place at all!!!

I recently got my transmission, coolant and brake system flush among a couple other services. Steve was very helpful and took the time to explain all the services in detail. I took my car for a long drive after and it handles like when I first got it; very smooth and quiet. I have had this Tuffy service all my oil changes but after how well Steve handled this recent big service I will come back and have them do more in the future. As a women its important to find a auto service you trust and I did!

I was purchasing a car 3rd Party on a Saturday on short notice. I was from out of town so I wanted the transaction taken care of quickly so I had time to get to the bank for the loan paper-work.I called a couple other places and they couldnt get me in till late Monday or Tuesday. Tuffy said bring it over, walked me through the car and gave me their opinions and I was out within 20 minutes. Then they said it was no charge. I was impressed, Id go there if I wasnt from out of town.

I visited Tuffy today for an oil change and was more than satisfied! The staff was very knowledgeable and friendly which made it such an enjoyable visit. Adam and Jake were able to answer all my questions and gave me great advice on future services. Also, the price was a lot lower than a lot of their competition. I would definitely suggest this shop and know I will use them for all my future repairs and maintenance!

Great Service! I have been here several times and each time I have gone the employees have been very professional and courteous. I love the fact that they have a shuttle service to drop me off at work and pick me up when my vehicle is ready. They are reasonably priced and do high quality work. I would recommend this place to others.

These guys were willing to do anything and everything to make me feel comfortable getting back on the road after I had a nail in my tire. They checked all the tires for free and sure enough there was a nail in one. The patch was super fast. Also, the bathroom is super clean and nicely decorated. I will go here again and recommend these guys for tire issues.

Just posted a long review on Yelp, (feel free to go read it) but wanted to post a shorter one here. Not only did they do what needed to be done, they also went above and beyond. New tie rods are great...they also put on the wiper blades I’ve been carrying around in my car for months, and they also cleaned corrosion off my battery. That in itself was amazing, and the price was right. I was so happy with everything that it took me a few miles of driving to realize they had also taken care of a heat shield that had been rattling for months. My husband and I are Tuffy fans for life!

I used to go to Tuffy just for basic things. Oil change etc. However the last time was not good at all. First a brief background I worked for 10 years at Sears first as a tire buster then alignments, front end parts, ball joints, etc. and then as a Service Advisor. So I do know the system all too well because I am guilty of the same stuff they tried to pull on me (I quit a long time ago). BEWARE when they act all serious and take you back into the office because that is rule 1 of the scare tactics. First they took a glob of build up from the radiator cap and tried to sell me a $100 plus flush which it did not need by saying it could do this or that. Also they did find something legit...a broken sway bar that could maybe cut into CV boot but at a very high price for such a simple job. All said they could have bilked me for $600 + but I knew what was up. Just think most people fall for this tactics because they really do not know much about cars and he did his best to con me but he did not know I know cars and I know the old scare tactic routine. DO NOT JUMP IN ....GET A SECOND OPINION.... you will get a different answer and will be a lot less money. Too bad because in the past they really were kind of honest now it is just about the profit.

They are polite while they try to rob you. One simple job turned into over a 1,000 dollar job. I just saved myself thousands of dollars by doing it myself.

I didnt know it at the time but I was dumb and put the wrong gas in my car.Called Als Full Service and they were going to charge me $100+ just to look at the car and $650+ to fix it with a fuel pump replacement.Called Tuffys and they said first theyd take an initial look for free because theres multiple things that can give the error code I had and explained what it could be and that theyd try to get to the bottom of what was actually going on before they started doing anything big and expensive. They did some tests that showed I put the wrong gas in it, told me which gas I used and which I should put in it to fix the problem.They were nice, respectful, and informative, and didnt charge me a penny when the other place wanted to charge me $100+ just to even look at it.Never going anywhere else again, Ive raved about them since :)

Tuffy did work for both my husbands and my car. The people were very courteous. I couldnt believe the prices on the fixes. Ive been other places and they quoted me at quadruple of Tuffys prices. The wait wasnt very long at all. They did a very good job. I will be back, thats for sure! Would recommend to everyone

Tuffys Auto Service on 1st Avenue in Cedar Rapids has always been number one in customer service for us. They always have gone out of their way to make sure that we are satisfied customer no matter what. I would especially like to give props to the manager Jim who has gone out of his way to help anyone in need selflessly completely and 100%. He helped a young kid who had a loose Tire even after hours while we were waiting to pick up our car and I am truly grateful for the fact that they were willing to stay a few minutes late to help us get our vehicle so we can get to work on time tomorrow. Just an all-around number one customer service oriented Place. 5 stars all the way!

Had my car in their shop on 1st Ave for warranty work to fix an oil leak. Had a terrible noise in the car after picking it back up. I took the car to a reputable repair place where they found the axle nut was missing. Stay away from this place. These guys can maybe do an oil change correctly. Just maybe.

I went in for an oil change. After diagnosis, it was recommended I have my front two tires replaced. Going to car repair shop is like going to visit the doctor or dentist. You go in to get one thing fixed and you leave with a laundry list of other things to be concerned about. Nevertheless, Assistant Manager; Roice, was kind over the phone to set up my appointment. Though he recommended my tires to be replaced, he did con me into doing anything I wasnt comfortable with. He candidly showed me the numbers and allowed me time to make a decision. My mechanic; Corey, was very knowledgeable and patiently answered all my inspection inquiries.It was my first time at Tiffy Tires. I would try them the benefit of the doubt and return for my next car maintenance. Hope this information helps.Paying It Forward!

My husband brought my car in to see what was wrong with the heat and to have the oil changed. I was happy that they were able to get the heat fixed right away, no waiting for parts! Our bill was exactly what Dan had estimated and our mechanic Deangelo made quick work of the repairs. They even had toys, juice boxes and tootsie rolls to keep our toddler entertained. Class act gentlemen, keep up the good work!

I called and set up a appointment for my daughters truck after finding break fluid all over the driveway. Tuffys were able to get it in the next day. Before doing any work we were contacted and given a full description of the problem. Which was inline with what I knew was wrong with the truck. They also looked at other thing I wanted looked at with no extra charge. Job took longer then was expected due to wrong parts being delivered to them but price didn’t go up and they stayed late to finish so she’s have a way to work the next day.Now I’ll say it was expensive but no more expensive then any other shop out there. It cost money to run a business. And I’m sure like everyone else out there these guys can sit home for free. Besides if it’s not right I know they will stand behind there work.

Before I get into my opinion I will say that they do offer a loaner car and shuttle services their shops are usually pretty clean all their work is guaranteed. However when I was there getting my 2001 Saturn sc1 looked their upsell tactics were disgusting. They wanted $500 to install an alternator on a Saturn. They charge $123 an hour which hi. They wanted almost $1,300 to replace an alternator power steering and belt tensioner which I had alreadyreplace the belt tensioner and the power steering. it was outrageous all very easy to get to and I dont understand why it would cost that much. Of course the when I said that was outrageous then they talk to me like I didnt know a thing.

Went in with a putting noise. They said they couldnt here it then convince my wife to spend over a thousand dollars on changing fluids. Less then a week later I take it back in for the same thing and they find the real problem the water pump. And of course its 1000 to fix. But I dont have it because I spent it on fluid changes that could have waited because they said my car would be in great condition if I did the fluid change. Thats my last visit. Con artists. Some home when my wife brings it in nothing is wrong but you convince her to do expensive preventive work and a sure her that her engine would be in great condition if she did. Unfortunately I was out of town and when I got back the sound was worse and it was leaking fluid. What happened to great condition. I bring it in and you find the problem immediately. Plus my other car you worked on 2500 worth. Sounds worse then when you got it. So its not just once. Everyone who asked where did you take. It I say tuffy they say there is your problem right there.

It was a very friendly experience. Went in for an oil change and was gonna get tires bit they didnt have any in. Cory is ordering me some for my appointment next Saturday and Ill have 4 brand new ones. The entire staff is nice and friendly and they do a great job. Keep up the great work.

Dont take your car here. Brought my car in to have the starter replaced and they tired to tell me I needed over $4000 worth of other work done. I declined those unnecessary services. I brought my car in again (April) to have an oil leak fixed and I asked about the other services I was told I needed before. They said everything looked good and I didnt need those. Hmmm thats odd. The oil leak is still not fixed because it wasnt fixed properly and the warranty wants me to authorize a $190 charge to have the valve cover tested and measured. The warranty wont cover the repair but they might help with labor. Ughh give me a break, how useless.

I needed car assistance one afternoon, short notice. I really needed it that day. I called around to about 15 places and no one could fit me in before 2 days later. I called Tuffy and he told me he didn’t have an opening, but to come in and he would look at it. He got me in quickly, rode with me to hear the noise I was talking about. He then made up an estimate and got me right in. I left with my car fixed the same day.

Great service, everything explained so well, and I saved $$ as they said I did not need things I thought I might. All in all got placed in lower priced service package than I expected. In my case they were very good at keeping the customer happy!!

The manager was great to work with. He was friendly and polite. They took the time to take me out to my car and show me what was wrong. I have never had that experience any where else. Discussed which parts needed to be fixed now and which could wait and never pressured me into making quick decisions. Unfortunately, had issues with warranty claim which was disappointing.

Had a great experience here!!!! Defineitely reccomend this location, gentlemen were very friendly. As well as they gave me a ride back to work and offered to pick me up, called to let me know details of my car during the day, and went into great detail when I came to pick it up. For someone that doesnt know too much about cars, they explained everything very well and answered all my questions, printed out resources for me and gave me plenty of options and didnt pressure me at all. Plus with my coupon I paid $30 for an oil change. Very good service, just wish they offered a car wish with the oil change like some places but still an excellent job.

My first Tuffy experience was a very good one. I was looking for someone to install a trailer tow bar on my car. Tuffys people were fast, courteous and they quoted the lowest price of all the places Id checked - lower by a significant margin!I am now a person who will be taking his car to Tuffy!

Took my car in to get work done. They quoted issue at $500 then bumped it up to $1900. I told them to fix what they said was initially wrong. The same day after my car conviently developed another issue. They said they never went near part but they had to in order to fix the issue they were paid for. Go to an honest shop. Ive had my car looked at by a different machanic and they said parts have been tampered with.

I had an appointment to see why my power steering was leaking and how much it would cost to fix. Ended up with an estimate of over 1,800 for that and several other things that are wrong, plus things that dont really need done. Now I know that I do have the other issues, but they are over pricing me for labor. I would have to pay for labor twice for one job.I feel like I cant go there with out getting taken advantage of.

These guys just told me $50-60 to put my rearview mirror back on!! What a joke. Other places arent quoting more than $10. Mind you, I know the part is $3.99 at retail cost.

Okay, these guys are very polite, I mean who wouldnt be when they are charging between 6,250-6,973 for a head gasket or a new engine altogether. I went to about about three different mechanics one of them was MY mechanic Gregs auto, who suspected a problem with the liftors, which I have no CLUE what that is. But alls I know is MY mechanic didnt do that kind of work. So I had to go somewhere else. Then I went to Goodyear and theyre just as bad as tuffys, although they were WAY cheaper than tuffys they are still liars like tuffys. Then the third place I went to johns automotive, told me my gasket had NO problems AT ALL not cracked not going bad nothing. So tuffys basically stripped my car apart and then said something was wrong that wasnt, they were going to charge me almost 7000 for work on my 06 jeep commander for a problem that didnt exist! So I just got my car back today, and the price was 2100 dollars to fix the darn busted liftors. Still expensive? Yes but at least I wasnt ripped off. They think just because Im a single mom They could get over on me. But luckily my dad didnt trust them and referred me to JOHNS AUTOMOTIVE. I wouldnt trust these reviews either, I think a lot of them are fake, I just dont see how they are getting so many great reviews when they rob people. Not every female that walks in tuffys is going to fall for that polite and friendly charade, I have personal mechanics, brothers, a father, grandfathers that all know I was about to get ripped off, nice try guys.

Called in due to having an AC that needed to be recharged and the guy told me I needed to have an appointment because they only have one machine and the walk ins would cause a long wait and what not. So I come in for my scheduled appointment and there is another car that just got hooked up to the machine right before my appointment time. Somewhat contradictory to what he said and an inconvenience for me. Nice staff but just a frustrating experience.

I went to Tuffys a while ago with my 2001 dodge stratus having transmission troubles. They told me that the transmisson is gone and needs replaced. Gave me an estimate of $2,500.I went to Kevin transmission on 16 ave SW, he said the transmission is fine and the problem is electic, took the car to A&D electric on Edgewood road, fixed it for $75. the car has been running perfectly for 3 years after that!

The gentleman was very helpful to me despite being well after they closed.

I scheduled an appt for 4PM for an oil change/tire rotation and air conditioning service so I can get out of there fairly early. I got a pedicure, went to Milos for dinner, and took a nap. I was a little perturbed when I didnt leave until 6:45 PM. As I was sitting there waiting and waiting, I was talking with the other customers, who were also waiting, and noticed that we had all brought our vehicles in for something fairly simple. For some reason, after the mechanics looked at our vehicles, there was something MAJORLY wrong with them....ALL with major costs. About that time, the mechanic called me to the bay to show me something on my truck. Good news was my air compressor, hoses and system looked good so they went ahead and charged it for me. Bad news is my rear brakes were almost gone. I would need new pads, rotors, flush and service at the price of about $450. Just the rear brakes, mind you. What they didnt know was Im in the Army and was a mechanic for about 10 years, so I know a little bit. You wouldnt know by looking at me. Im a little, short, blonde female. My brakes were soooo bad, it was imparative I had them fixed THAT DAY!!! I already knew they were trying to take advantage of me so I said, Next week, Im on my way out of town. So they made me sign a waiver if I had an accident because I refused that service, I could not hold them liable. Very nice scare tactic.They jumped thru hoops trying to get me to have these brakes done, like it was life or death. I politely told them no thank you. NOW, my perfectly good air compressor needs to be replaced, are you shitting me? AFTER, you charged the system? No thank you, Im ready to go.So, I took my truck where I should have taken it in the first place and guess what? My rear brakes are perfectly fine. I hope so since I traveled to Chicago and St. Louis since I went to Tuffys. But my air compressor does need replaced. The funny thing is, the mechanic took one look at it and told me it was shot. He wondered why they even took the time to charge it. $100, thats why. Also, a tire rotation was supposed to be included with that oil change and they never once mentioned my missing lug nut that I have in my glove box. Hmmmm, so did my tires even get rotated? Needless to say, Tuffys will not get my return business nor my referral for business. Im kind of amazed they get business at all.

Absolutely terrible place, avoid like the plague. pressured a little old lady into having repairs done that were not necessary and actually failed to fix the problem that was reported. they are infamous in the cedar rapids area, why take the chance..................go look on facebook for the real reviews, not ones that are posted by either staff there or paid reviewers.
