Buyer beware! First, they don’t honor the seven-day free trial (for a single day use), because every gym is “independently owned.” Then the month-to-month is a sham. You pay $10 initiation fee along with first and last months membership. Its $30 to walk in the door one time. Then you’re on the hook for two months membership every month; so this is not month-to-month. For example, I joined 10/22 and the billing cycle was 10/15, so there was no way I could give the required thirty days’ notice to avoid billing on 11/15, despite the fact I am leaving the gym well before 11/15. Sound confusing? I wish Fitness 19 in Cary were more forthcoming and direct about its charges. It feels deceptive, so for that reason I give it a one star for poor business practice.

It is alright, a small gym not a lot of equipment but a step up from planet fitness and the worker(Mike) is a very nice individual.

When I went to cancel my membership, Trevor welcomed us with an arrogant: YEAH (no hello). I told him I wanted to cancel my membership and Trevor tried to convince me to freeze my membership.He was sarcastic, dismissive and rude in his behavior. I insisted that I wanted to cancel my membership and he continued his rude behavior by mocking me:. Cant you take 30 minutes out of your time to come to the gym?. Trevor should realize that his clients dont need to or may not want to explain their personal situation. And this kind of harassment was really upsetting and I will definitely not return to this place. Id rather pay more for better customer service at another gym.

Moved here from DC for work, was looking at a few different gyms in the area and came across this one, great gym! Met with a trainer for my new member evaluation, he pointed out a lot of different things that i never knew about my routine. Glad i found this gem!

I kept my membership for over a year during COVID to help the business out even though I didn’t go. Once things got a little back to normal, I decided to cancel as I hadn’t gone in over a year and a half at that point and had some home gym equipment t. I went in person three separate times and “just missed the manager” each time. Their hours for cancellation intentionally make it difficult to get ahold of someone. Even when you do go at the right time, you may not even be able to get it done. And the only other route is through usps mail.. after my third visit you would think they would accept a signed piece of paper from me since I was standing there. When I was finally able to cancel, I had to pay an extra month and a $10 cancellation fee. They offered to waive the 30 day notice, but my credit card bill says otherwise.

For $7/month, the gym is great! It has all of your basic gym stuff, and a few goodies like a safety squat bar, a pretty nice deadlift platform, and multiple cable columns to work off of. The most notable downside is the foot traffic/availability of equipment during peak hours.

What happens when you have a huge personal training package that was purchased pre covid. I’ve heard you won’t refund the personal training package even though you don’t have any trainers?

Not the fanciest gym in the world but definitely one of the most reliable. For the price you pay (for most people its less than $10 a month but can vary) you really get the bang for your buck. They dont have locker rooms, showers, classes or towels but theres plenty of cardio equipment, pretty much all the machines that anyone would need and its a fairly spacious gym. As long as you avoid the rush hour from 5-7pm on weekdays, you can have a great workout here. Ive been a member here for about 8 years and plan on working out here for many more 👌The stair climber machine they currently have isn’t great, so I hope they get a real stair master sometime soon. Also, most of the dumbbells are worn out, so if they can replace them with the hex iron grips that would be awesome- I saw they started to replace some. Adding some more variety to the battle ropes would also be helpful.

I will not go into details but this place has tried to commit fraud against my account for months. It took me reporting them for fraud in order for it to stop. DO NOT GO HERE. Anytime fitness is pretty good if you arent afraid of the pricing.

Fitness 19 is a great place to workout! And considering the conditions with covid-19, I see them constantly cleaning and making sure all members are safe. Don’t forget about the great prices. Most affordable gym I have gone to.

For $10 per month you cant beat what you get equipment wise. Ive been doing the same workouts for a while now and Trevor the manager at this location really helped me with some good pointers on my routine and helped me get started with personal training, which has helped me see better results than ive seen in years. If you want a clean, affordable gym where staff really wants you to see results this is it!

I first joined this gym in 2007, when I was in high school. I convinced my parents to join because I wanted all of us to be healthier and fitter. The gym was great then, prices were very reasonable (you might even say that prices were low!) and the equipment was pretty new. If you had asked me then, I wouldve given Fitness 19 a 5 star rating.13 years later the prices seem to be relatively the same, as does the equipment. I ended my membership a long time ago, when I left for college, but I always get a guest membership when I am home for the holidays. I have noticed the gym accumulate more and more dirt each year and I am very disappointed with how it has been maintained. A lot of weight lifting equipment isnt properly lubricated, protective coverings are missing, handles have electrical tape on them instead of a proper rubber sleeve etc.I understand that when membership prices are this low, its hard to cover the costs of new equipment, but someone ought to do a better job of servicing and maintaining what is there. Maintenance is also critical from a liability standpoint. As a point of comparison, my gym at home in Texas is $20/month. All of the equipment was recently replaced, but even before, it was kept clean and maintained with care. I also wish that Fitness 19 would do something to better ventilate the gym, to help make it smell a little better.With just a little more effort to care for the equipment and keep the place clean, I think this gym could easily be as great as it used to be!

It’s an alright gym but only worth it if you sign up during an actual special. There’s always a sign that says “special” but it’s usually the same high sign-up fee and 5 dollars a month or a slightly lower fee and 15 dollars a month. If you’re going to sign up just wait for when they waive those sign up fees which they do every now and then. As far as equipment, there isn’t much and you usually have to wait but it does the job. Reason for the 2-star is that they kept charging for a while during the pandemic shutdown, reopened under a loophole that allows those with “medical reasons” to workout but still charged all members, and then still require members to cancel in person or in writing even though there’s a pandemic going-on. It’s clear the rules are made to make cancelling hard but you’d think they’d at least be flexible for pandemics.

Do Not Go To This Gym.They triple charged our start up fee and only after 11 days, numerous calls and in person talks did they refund the overcharge. Before the refund we canceled our membership and they refuse to give us back the rest of our money. These people did not care that they withheld $200 of our money for 11 days and they certainly dont care about our business.

Sketchy business overall.Its cheap to join, but they charge all kinds of fees without any notice or communication.Then they make it near impossible to cancel - its always some reason you cant cancel - you arent allowed to call in to cancel, cant cancel online, information in the system needs to be fixed before cancelling, showed up at the gym at the wrong time of day to cancel...Shouldve just stuck with the other gym, wouldve paid less in the end.

Great place to work out

This company is a scam. They literally won’t let you cancel unless you come in person during their highly irregular hours “cancellation hours” from 11 to 4 that make it impossible for anyone with a 9 to 5 job to do so. Avoid as they are not worth the hassle.

Very clean and affordable gym. Lots of equipment and very friendly staff. Kyle- general manager was very helpful. He genuinely wants people to go in and work out and get healthy. He made it easy and affordable for my daughter to want to work out. This is a judgement free zone. Not only did a get a great work out but I also made friends. It is nice to see Cody’s smiling face in the morning! Always friendly and willing to have a conversation!

Long time member, just the basics but good weight training area

Free weights. Squat racks. Enough benches. Bunch of other equipment. Good for pros and beginners. Havent tried buying training sessions from trainers so cant comment on that. At times a bit crowded but cant complain with the price offered.

Good sized gym with ample parking. This particular gym is usually busy no matter what time you come. Thats the only downside. But given the price they charge, which is the lowest Ive seen anywhere, its worth it. Plus, there is a staffed on site kids room.

I won’t be going back to this gym and will likely cancel my membership due to the utter lack of civility and customer service.I arrived at this gym with my boys and checked in. It seemed that everything was fine, however 20 minutes later a gentleman named Omar cornered me after coming from the ladies room, and told me that I had to pay for the kids club. It wasn’t what he said, but what he implied in his message. As if I were trying to sneak past them or steal from them.It was an extremely unprofessional and rude conversation, and after I said I would take care of the error, Omar did not even help me, but passed me off to another gentleman who said I had to fill another form out and get a CC on file, etc. I have been at this gym for 30 minutes now and haven’t been able to lift.Customer service and convenience mean everything to me, and I would pay 5 times the membership rate if it meant being treated well. I left the gym 10 minutes later, feeling very uncomfortable and unable to concentrate on working out. As I was leaving no one inquired as to why and the gentleman at the front desk asked me to call back with my CC info. Laughable!! I’d rather go somewhere else.There are too many gyms and too many options for me to tolerate poor customer service. Thanks, but no thanks.

Rude staff and greedy management. Cancellation rule is horrible. Never went to this Gym from Dec2019. I tried to cancel the service over the phone . To cancel they allow In person only Mon to Thu 10 to 5PM. They are just waiting to charge again and again. Dont enroll in this gym they are absolutely corrupt!

I have been a member at Fitness 19 since they opened in January of 2007. No matter who the Manager was they were always very professional. Whenever I had a question about suspending and starting my sons membership the Manager or Assistant Manager was always helpful.Also, the gym is always clean. There is always a cleaning spray and paper towels available to clean the equipment if you want to clean the equipment before you use it or after you use it. If I ever noticed that any paper towel machine ran out of paper I notified whoever was at the front desk and they have always refilled it very quickly. 95 percent of the people I have met at the gym are very nice. Most of the time if I needed to use equipment that was being used by someone else that individual would finish their set or let me jump in. Very few times have I been told I couldnt use and have too wait more than a few minutes.There are plenty of cardio machines. In the 10 years I have been going to Fitness 19 if equipment was broken it is fixed in timely matter. Lastly, Shaun who is the Manager now is always very friendly and will answer any questions you may have. The rest of his staff follows his lead. It is just a great place to work out and you cant beat the price and location.

We have been members for years at Fitness19. Our whole family, including extended family, enjoys the atmosphere and gym family we have made there. The staff is always friendly and eager to help. Everyone is always happy and makes my workout fun!! We have changed our body, minds, and family working out at Fitness19!!! I would recommend this gym to all my friends!! In fact,,,, I have and many of my friends have joined after coming in and training with us! We like lifting heavy and making noise and at this gym we can do that!!!

This is a great gym that has everything I need from free weights to open space for stretching. It’s never over crowded even thou certain times of day are busier than others. I take my daughter to the kids room while I work out and she loves it! The bathrooms and equipment are always clean. Great gym and very affordable.

Member for ~4 years and love this gym! Facility is clean and sufficiently well equipped (although another squat rack would be awesome), but what I really appreciate are the trainers (I work with 2). They take time to understand my goals and limitations, help me get the technique right, work with me on mobility and stretching, and give me a program I can get excited about.The patrons range in terms of fitness level. The environment is friendly for beginners---no intimidation at all---but if you bring some intensity to your workout, thats cool too (#illgruntifiwant).

Having a conversation with Kyle felt as if I was speaking to a stale coconut, with the brain full of rotten water.Kyle, you should never ignore the importance of customer satisfaction. There are dozens of factors contributing to the success (or failure) of a business and customer satisfaction is one of them. You should use your common sense/ good judgment more often and understand that earning Fitness 19 more revenue ( or should I say, stealing from your loyal customers), is NOT what a business should stand for. During and under any circumstances your customers come first because without them YOU HAVE NO BUSINESS. Taking my business somewhere else. Ah! and go ahead and keep the $39.00 annual fee that you charged us yesterday after canceling, this may help your greedy business go NOWHERE.

This is a nice place for regular gym. only issue is the closure time on weekends. They close too soon at 6pm, would have loved to see them stay open till 8pm at least to continue the same evening time routine on weekends as well.

I started at this gym 8 years and 200 pounds ago. When I joined I was over 400 pouns and and have gotten down to 215 and maintaining. This location is clean and staffed with very kind and professional people. I absolutely love coming in the mornings and starting my day with you guys at Fitness 19. Keep up the great work.

This is probably one of the worst gyms in the area. It probably is also the cheapest though. If you are looking to go to a gym where vents dont work and equipment are falling apart, this is the place.

Great large gym with a personal training program. John pushes me every week. Wish there were more benches in the weight area but overall, not a lot of waiting for machines or workout areas. Size is a plus!

Nice no-frills gym. The only complaint I have is the noise: some people let the weights slam down, and the staff members dont bother to intervene. Other than that, I like it.

I recently joined this gym for a great month-to-month price. Its very close to home, which makes it easier to attain my wellness goals. The gym itself has everything I need for cardio and resistance. The staff is nice, and theyre constantly working to ensure a clean environment for everyone.

You can only cancel between Mon and Thur until 6pm AND charged a cancellation fee which of course I wasn’t told so be sure to read your contract - Ridiculous!!

Poor customer service, they triple charged our start up fee, it took 12 days for refund. Only used gym for one week due to poor CS. Manager is not friendly. Actions speak louder than words!

My mom is a member here and she is treated very well. I was a member here in 2014 but later cancelled my membership since my company pays for a FREE YMCA membership. But I dont mind coming here with my mom and paying the $5 guest fee or coming on my own and paying $10 (the latter is more steep). In any case this is a good gym and the people who are complaining should read the fine print when they sign up for a membership. The cancellation policies are spelled out in the contract. :)

Not only did I find my love for fitness again with Fitness 19, but the environmental inspiration that is built within could never be replaced. The journey is hard enough, having an amazing trainer Shawn Badder and peers/staffs to go through it with helps tremendously.

This gym is great, clean, organized and well maintained. Kyle the manager, gym staff and Bryan (personal trainer) are professional, friendly and very knowledgeable. This is not the typical gym. They show personal interest in people.

If youre looking for a straight up gym (treadmills, weight machines, free weights, etc) this is your place. Theres no frills. And as a chunkier girl, Ive never felt intimidated going in to this gym. The staff are all very friendly and welcoming.

This gym is simple, inexpensive, and clean. It also offers child care services for a small price. If all you want is a good selection of weight and cardio equipment, this is the place to go. The gym is well designed, there is always equipment available for you to work on, and its never packed. This is not a social gym, like lifetime fitness. Everyone is pretty much to themselves and out of shape. Given that the membership is only about $19/month, its a steal. I keep my membership active even if I dont go... given that its so cheap.

Very small space, not much variety, no great features. Ended up cancelling for another gym that offered a 50% discount in rate, free classes, basketball court, and TRIPLE THE FLOORSPACE (at least)! No interest in staying, so I cancelled after being a member for two years...BUT, when you cancel, you arent *really* cancelled! Shady, shady business practices at this place.How is it that you pay your first and last months dues upfront, but then get billed for the month AFTER you quit? HUH?! Unbelievable. I would NEVER recommend this place simply for their shady dealings. DO NOT JOIN THIS GYM. They will rip you off, Im really expecting them to charge me with the annual fee in 10 more months, I wouldnt be surprised! If you quit this gym, check your credit card statement, EVERY MONTH. Bunch of scam artists!

So I have been a member for a while now but have only been a handful of times. Last time I went was about 6 months ago as I have recently moved and didn’t realize I was still being charged for the membership. I have spoken with managers and called multiple times to cancel and it seems everyone I talk to is not on the same page with “their” policy’s. I have recently moved an hour away and explained that to a manager on the phone and all they said I could do was send a letter in the mail and they would count the 30day notice from the day they receive that letter. That is why I asked multiple times if they could email/fax a copy of forms to me to sign and I would send back so that my 30day notice could go ahead and go into effect instead of waiting for snail mail and the fear that they would even read the letter. At this point I still am not canceled and am making the journey there tomorrow to cancel in person even though the manager told me today over the phone even if I cancel today (30 day notice should mean I’m canceled by June 17 with a June prorated amount) but I would still be charged the full amount in June. I am beyond unhappy with their customer service and now I worry how stressful this actual cancellation process is going to be.

Its inexpensive. There are no showers, no sauna, no locker room. Two changing rooms, which can require a wait during busy times. Did I mention that it is inexpensive? You get what you pay for, people.Ive been a member since they opened in this location. As the equipment and facilities have gotten older, Ive watched with interest to see how they maintained them. Compared to other gyms that Ive been to in the past, they do better than average in their maintenance. Its not perfect, for sure, but honestly, most people dont bother to tell the staff that equipment requires attention. If we all did this, stuff would get fixed faster.It does seem like theyve cut back on staff. There used to be one staffer who did nothing but walk around and wipe down the equipment. I havent seen them do that in quite a while. Instead, they installed paper towel dispensers and spray bottles. The carpet is about due to be replaced and some of the cardio equipment is showing its age. I find that generally it is not too crowded, and I can usually find a machine free, or after a short wait.---- UPDATE on 12/03/2014This place has continued to slide, getting dirtier with more broken machines on every visit. They did replace the carpet with laminate wood floors, which show the dirt more, unfortunately. I cancelled my membership in writing, as required, and as others have mentioned, they continue to attempt to ding my credit card. Shame. Ive lowered my rating to two stars because of this shoddy business practice.

I had my CC compromised. The CC company sent me a new one. Fitness 19 hit me for $20.00 because I did not tell them. Then I tried to talk with them about it and they were ugly to me citing some obscure policy they have. Who remembers these things after having the membership for years? They were not forgiving at all..in my opinion crooks. Then I tried to tell them to cancel my membership due to their what I believe to be fraudulent tactics and they told me I had to send them a letter and that I would be charged again because they needed a thirty day cancellation notice. Please be very careful of them...they care only about the dollar not the consumer. I know they are in business to make money...but proper customer service will give them more money. It is in the neighborhood making it easy and a great value for equipment, space and membership prices. The 19 provides both machine and free weights as well as multiple variations in cardio equipment. You can go on your own or work with a personal trainer at a respectable fee. All staff that I have had contact with have been supportive and always willing to answer questions about ways to workouts. I am always greeted coming in the door and when leaving bid a goodbye making the place personable. They staffs attitudes provide a good atmosphere for both body and mind and set the tone for a friendly atmosphere for everyone working out and sharing the space. I have been well pleased with Fitness 19 and all the folks who share the facility. It makes my day to go there and feel the positive energy and be in it while working out then leaving feeling good about my accomplishments and all those folks doing the same to be just a bit better than we all were yesterday! Cardio, circuit training on machines or old school free weight training they got what is needed if you got the drive to do it!

Was a faithful member for over 2 years. As a military officer I must keep in shape. When I got transferred to another state cancelling my membership was an enormous process! Called, wrote letters, finally called my bank to stop payment on services I had not received for over 3 months. Go somewhere else. This place is a racket, not concerned with customer service. If I could have given no stars I would have.

A really good gym with amazing staff for a cheap membership price. I worked out at this gym since June 2016 and recently cancelled my membership as I moved to another city. It has been hard to find an economical gym down there without any issues. I really wish they open another branch in Holly Springs and Fuquay-Varina

Great club at a great price. The only knock is No Showers, but I cant really complain at $5 per month. Always plenty of room, at least early morning when I go. No wait for cardio, occasional wait for squat rack. STaffs very friendly.

This place is a TOTAL RIP OFF. Stay FAR FAR AWAY and never step foot in here! We have been trying to cancel our membership since July and they have STILL billed us through October!!! We mailed a letter to them the first of AUGUST and it was returned to us. The letter is postmarked absolutely correctly but it was not received by them. We took it in to show them and they said since they didnt receive it in THEIR MAILBOX it didnt count! We went in and cancelled and they STILL billed us another month AND a cancellation fee. DO NOT JOIN THIS PLACE!! They are awful to deal with!!!

I have been a member of this gym for over three years and have grown to really appreciate the no frills nature of this gym. Their equipment and the gym itself are always clean and well-kept. The folks there are also friendly too.Of course, given the size of the gym, it can get very busy during peak times. Never had any billing issues.While this gym works for me, it may not be for everyone -- like those looking for lush change rooms, saunas, etc. But if you are looking for a clean, no-hastle place to workout and not have to pay an arm and a leg, then you should consider Fitness 19.

Love the kids room. We have 2 daughters 2 and 4. Our kids love Amanda in the kids club and never want to leave. Very clean and excellent management!

Dishonest and poor customer service. Make sure they are charging you the correct amount on your credit card. When we looked at cancelling, they gave us a special rate of $5 per person per month, but never implemented it. Then when we tried to cancel they were extremely rude calling my wife annoying for questioning why they were charging us more and in advance for the next month to cancel.

By far the best gym hands down! Great staff and clean facility.

Constant membership deals and great facilities for strength training and cardio. The members themselves are either really great and helpful or just keep to themselves but stay open to a spot or work-in.

Great place for work out. The staff are nice and helpful.

Terrible service. Phone calls not answered for long time. Charged my credit card even after I cancelled service. (I will obviously dispute the charge). Cancellations can occur only in person between 10 am and 6 pm. That means just to cancel, I have to adjust my work hours. If the gym is open till late evening, how can they not accommodate this request to cancel after 6. And why the requirement to go there in person. They can verify my information on the phone or provide a website that this can be cancelled on. Also they are charging a $10 cancellation fee which is unheard of.

Friendly staff. Good equipment. But cancellation is not easy and simple.
