Good taste but much too expensive (one Chaat in small styrofoam container was $8.99!!)
I am a Bengali and no matter how far we are from Calcutta, we always long for those wonderful sweets back home... The closest to Calcutta style sweets that you can get in these parts, most of the sweets are pretty decent... But the real winners are the snacks... The Singara, Kochuri and the Vegetable chop are to die for and can give some of the top shops in Bengal a run for their money! Filling and insanely delicious! We keep going back for these!
I had Kachori chat here. It was decent enough. Not much oily and medium spicy. Worth to give a try!
My mom and I always stop by here when visiting the area for their delicious shingaras. By her standards, she couldn’t find such fresh vegetarian shingaras even in Bangladesh.
They have no idea about Rasmalai. We got some thing sweet and real hard Balls in a caramelized syrup. Real waste of money.
Horrible customer service. Price is too expensive. Totally Waste of money .
Very poor service, not friendly and do not expect any courtesy from the staff. I bought some padas from them and they tasted so horrible and they charged me premium amount of cash for these. I really do not understand how these places are in business by providing such low quality foods to their customers. This restaurant is highly priced and do not seem to provide value for the money.
This was our first time coming in but it was truly a total experience. The shop was attended by a very interesting co-owner who gave us a detailed explanation of all the choices. There are a wide range of traditional desserts on a spectrum of sweetness and cooking time to bring out the desired characteristics. The owner was fascinating too. An ex-business professor who spent 5 years teaching at American University in Cairo. He also spent time teaching in Africa and India before returning here to purchase this shop with his Indian wife.Come support local business and be blown away by the delicious food crafted with love.
Mithai is the place I bring my out of town friends for the delicious samosas and warm atmosphere. I can never manage to leave without buying a package of freshly made sweets. There isnt much room for sitting but thats ok right now. For those that can grab a seat its a nice atmosphere. Advice: bring your own reusable bags to carry your food/sweets back home. Yes they have bags but its nice to reduce waste.
Very fresh, tasty, authentic Indian sweets and savories. Once you taste this, you won’t go anywhere else.
Great place authentic Bengali and Indian sweets - this place is legit
Ordered some café items and boxed sweets a couple of days ago, and the majority of it was really good! However, some of the khajuri sandesh were moldy, despite the box being sealed. I tried to call the store to let them know, but was spoken to a bit brusquely and promptly hung up upon, hence the review. Would order again, but maybe would stick to the café offerings instead of the mishti lol. Shingara was great though.Post-Response Edit: I think you may have me confused with someone else; I only called the store once. Regardless, Im glad you fixed your display case. As for the sandesh offer, thank you for your generosity, but I respectfully decline.
Nice little place, good vegan options on sweets. Their savories/chats are not great. Kachori was VERY oily, Channa chat and cutlet were not great but good. Will buy again but will limit it to desserts
We were looking for a place to have Fresh Indian Snacks and then landed up at this place. I really really loved the place. The owners were very friendly, it felt as if we are at our friends place. The food was fresh and yummy. We tried -- Veg Chop : It was fantastic and a must try- Mango Lassi : I will rate it 4.5/5- Masala Chai : It was decent- Bhelpuri : It was good too and can be customized as per your needs(sweet or spicy)- Sandesh : They prepare the sweets themselves and after eating the first bite only you will realise that this is the best Sandesh you can get in North Carolina. I will 100% recommend you to try it and other sweets
Rude owner. Sits on the chair like he is the king, no respect. He thinks everyone in the area sells canned sweets. Did not like the rasmalai that I brought. None of my guests liked the it either. I will never go back there.Reply to the owner: Boss first of all spell my name correctly, first step to respecting a person.I gave a review because google suggested me to give one, you want the exact date I was there? It is October 10, 2020 - go check your sophisticated software.
I have never met such a rude owner. I have been to the Mithai shop multiple times and every single time, the customer experience has been terrible. He is mean and does not try and understand the customers needs and wants. One time, when the owner opened the box of samosas to show us that he had packed a dozen, the samosas were all cracked. Anyone who has grown up eating samosas knows that samosas should not be cracked as that is a sign that the frying oil has seeped into the samosa. I pointed that out and kindly requested another, uncracked, box of samosas. He then proceeded to reply that it was my fault and I broke the samosas even though he opened the box. Most of the mithai is fine, but the customer service is really bad--both from the owner and the chef.
Excellent food.. fresh and locally made.. love it here
Place was abandoned Someone shouted from back theyd be out in a minute. Never showed, so left.Edit: so owners response is basically dont come during your lunch break because he is slow and youll be late back from lunch. Point taken.
Delicious!!!!!! Ordered the vegan mathai tray-the boondi laddu and kaju kattri were so good!!! We also got the thali platter, and the vegetable chop was so yummy with the beets! The tamarind sauce was excellent. Craig was a great spirit to interact with, and was so sweet to my girls 😊
This is a wonderful little shop full of amazing sweets and treats! There were so many fantastic looking options that we were a little overwhelmed, but Davina, the woman running the store, offered us full explanations of what every item was and explained what allergens were included in each, which was greatly appreciated as my girlfriend has celiac disease, and thankfully there were an enormous number of gluten free choices. We shared a pair of assorted treats and some great iced coffees, and enjoyed everything she had selected for us. While I dont live in the area, Id highly recommend anyone who does to stop by and try as many sweets as they can! The service was friendly and beyond courteous and everything tasted great! Theyre a little hidden in the plaza where theyre located, but its definitely worth seeking out.
Worst customer service, expensive foods and bad quality foods.
Takes me back to my hometown! Great quality and well priced menu. We ordered almost everything they had, it was all great, the gopalbhog was my favourite.
I tried to order from this place and the customer service was terrible, I don’t know if it’s a race thing or they just didn’t wanna take my order but never again. Wasn’t worth it !
This is the only Bengali bakery in the Carolinas. Most of the pastries were new to me, and the owner was helpful in assisting me to make selections to share with my family.
Not the class of Bengali sweets one would expect. Disappointed.
Visit only if you have an hour to spare waiting.
Hands-down, the single best dessert bar in North Carolina.Owner operated, and presented in entire history of the Indian / Bangladesh culture which culminated in producing the perfect dessert.Left with a bag full of goodies, so good!!!!Thank you!!!
Hidden gem in triangle .. love the Chops and Bengali Sweets ..
Tried kachoriz, they were fresh and tasty. AlsoSweets are delicious, flavorful and have right amount of sugar. I think its a hidden gem in Tri area.
A pleasant and sweet surprise. If you have a weakness for authentic Bengali sweets Mitahi is the place to be. Don’t think you’ll find any better place in Durham/Raleigh area. Visited yesterday for the first time and got Khajoor Sandes (something my grandpa used to get when I was a kid) and freshly prepared Samosas or should I call Singhada. Loved it to the last bite!!
Delicious! Ive been a fan for years. The cashier is too loquacious though.
I love this spot. Small intimate. Shared a table last time with the most interesting international couple. Excellent hot and charged coffee. Superb nut fudges. Delicious milk shakes. Each visit is like an oasis in a wonderful exotic local. One of the Triangle’s hidden gems.
The person at reception was so arrogant and rude😡...he mentioned other customers were waiting but what I saw was there was nobody inside the restaurant. This is my first time giving a review to a restaurant, since the behavior was intolerable, I had to write it.
Just had samosas and kachori. They were so fresh, huge and tasty! Customer service at its best...will be coming back over and over.
The best dessert place!! We loved laddus named power ball 😋🤗
The food is fresh and vibrant. Staff was eager and helpful with suggestions. Had a home cooked feeling. The variety of offerings was ample. This is surely a must go to location .
Wonderful customer service!!! Food is wonderful too.
Great place to get Indian sweets. Owners are very particular about how the sweets are fresh and carefully made and great lengths are taken to make sure the pastries are made with whole ingredients and not just flavoring fillers. The cafe was nimble and had a great atmosphere. Kudos for Davina who was very hospitable and generous for me being new to the cafe.
Best samosas in the area. Great owner/staff. Cant wait to try the rest of the items offered!
Love love love this place! The chai is out of this world. LOVE the Indian sweets- especially the ones created with gluten-free and vegan options. Since Im partial to low sugar or sugar free options with my leaning to fitness, this is my go-to place for all occasions - birthday sweets, gifts and all festivals. The owner is very friendly, she makes you feel welcome as a family member than a customer.
If you are looking for a decent north Indian sweets this is the place in cary to go. The owners are so friendly. You can also get fresh samosa and other snack items too.
Best Indian mithais (sweets) in RTP
My wife loves Indian culture desserts. This place is clean and the staff is always friendly. And this place is good for a person looking to stick to diet but wants taste.
Great place to revisit the taste for Bong flavor
This place is a gem. Their desserts are delicious and unlike anything Ive had before. Our coffee drinks were both very good. The atmosphere was very cozy and the staff was kind and welcoming.
I visited Mithai house with my wife after a cousin of mine recommended it to us. The owner, Daveena was cordial to us. She explained about the ingredients they use in each of the sweets that she let us taste. Almost all of the sweets we tasted were authentic, freshly made, very delicious. I got a glimpse of the kitchen which looked well kept and clean, and the utensils were arranged neatly. I would highly recommend this store to anyone who wants to buy sweets.
This place is unique and authentic. This is basically as real as it can get. Devina and her husband to do a fantastic job with the sweets, the shop itself. Their heart’s in this and it is reflected in their desserts. If you want to savour real Indian (‘Bengali’) sweets this is by far the best shop I have come across here in the Triangle! I highly recommend them.
Excellent food, kachori Chaat had the right amount of spice which is rare. Bengali sweets are perfectly sweet. I dont feel like I just inhaled a cup of sugar.
A nice small place to visit. Good quality sweets. I visited this place with my wife as few of our friends suggested this place. It was worth visiting. The owner is very nice. She explained everything. The sweets are tastyWill definitely visit this place more.
The ingredients in the desserts were fresh and high quality. We didnt have any of the cafe items, but they looked amazing! They have vegan and vegetarian options as well. Every dessert has a list of ingredients for those with allergies. Well definitely be back!
Authentic Indian sweet taste
Wonderfully fresh Indian sweets! Owners are so friendly too! Best Indian sweets in the Triangle by far!
Worst Place in Cary. I recently came here on a Weekday thinking they served Authentic Mithai. The joke was on me. I caught first handed someone from the Restaurant pushing boxes of Mithai from Canada into the back of the store. - (Google Wont let me post the photo) What unethical business practice and you preach everything is fresh. I would not visit this place ever, the owner is also very condescending and will tell you that your a liar
Food is fresh and have many options to select from all Indian variety. Small and quick dine options.
Quality is good but i find them pricey. The owners are very pushy in you purchasing more items. The guy offered me a very small quantity of a sample which i didnt even taste.
Best indian place in morrisville and cary area. Sweets have nice flavor instead of the typical sugar overload we get around here. We also loved the veg chops and samosa. Also liked the samosa channa. Owner is great to talk.
Loved bengali sweets, owner is very friendly and helpful.
I absolutely LOVE this place! They have a wide variety of traditional desi sweets, local ingredients, no preservatives. Their food in general is amazing and truly authentic!! My new favorite Mithai shop in Cary!
If you like Bengali sweets, do not think twice. Mithai is the place to go. Awesome menu of sweets. They have Chaat on the menu as well.. Definitely recommend this place.
Tasty snacks and friendly people
This place has best Bengali and Indian sweet in whole triangle area, period. Not to mention savory snacks too! On top of that owners are awesome too! Overall a gem.
The owner is lovely! Really nice and cozy place. The rabri and peda are a must try.
Indian sweets anytime...freindly shopkeeper
A sweet spot for yummy Indian sweets. The couple who run the shop are fun & are passionate about what they make & serve. You cant go wrong with anything here.
Amazing sweets. The best Rabri we ever had and that includes India. For us Mithai means having Rabri and then other things.
I am visiting mithai from couple of years regularly for sweets and coffee. I also tried snacks and was satisfied. The reason for me being a repeat customer is their sweets are said to be made without additives and preservatives and which is absolutely true!
Went today for the first time. Bhel Puri was good. Even my wife whos not a fan of bhel Puri appreciated it.
The best pistachio treats Ive ever tasted. Authentic and true, no added junk to the ingredients. A must when in Cary. Lots of fresh goodies in the case and they ship nationally, so Ill be ordering soon.
The two of my favorite items are the pistachio fudge and vegan and GF chickpea sweet -- laddu. Both were amazing. The pistachio was the purest Ive ever tasted amongst many other Indian places.
Great place for authentic Bengali mishti! We love the snacking experience at this place! Wonderful conversations with the husband & wife duo that run the place.
Awesome Indian food. Really authentic, high quality stuff.
Incredible desserts. The various types of sandesh make for a delightful sampling of different flavors while enjoying a nice cup of coffee or tea. My personal favorite was the Khajuri Sandesh. It has a soft sweetness and a rich undertone of molasses. You can tell the owner puts passion and care into everything they make.
Pista burfi is delicious here.
Tasty deserts but only one vegan option I thought was enjoyable. We had a cashew dessert that was great and this pancake kind of vegan thing that was not good at all.
Sweets are good in taste. Especially the Bengali sweets in RDU area.
Great experience last night with my Meetup - we enjoyed the mango lassis and shakes and very hospitable :)
Great place for unadulterated indian sweets and snacks. I have had indian sweets other place but this is the only place where indian food and sweets sit well in my stomach. Great ambience to hang out
If you havent been to Mithai Indian Cafe yet you are missing out! These sweets are truly unique and passionately crafted. I highly recommend the pista burfi, mild pedha, and the mango sandesh. I truly do not believe you could pick something bad out of these wonderful creations! Our last trip was very short to get some to go but next time we will be sure to try some of the other menu or at least enjoy chai with our sweets and enjoy the cafe awhile longer! All and all I hope everyone will be able to come here and try something truly spectacular!
Fantastic food amazing service!!
This place has great snacks, amazing desserts and is run by great people.
This shop has been around a long time but I really only tried it 2 years ago. I’ve been a regular customer ever since!!! I was so pleasantly surprised that the sweets and chat are made in house (fresh, everyday!) and not to mention their deliciousness!! I’ve tried so many Indian places around the area and this place by far has the best/ freshest samosas and sandhesh. Love that they source ingredients locally as well! A definite must-try sweet/savory shop!P.S. please be sure to give yourself and Davina (the owner) few minutes to prepare your order especially chat, etc. You can see for yourself from where you’re sitting that she’s making your order fresh in the kitchen! Try the masala chai while you’re waiting!
This cafe is delicious! They serve mostly sweets like sandesh and burfi, but they also have snacks like samosas. Everything is made fresh by the owner, and you can really tell by the quality.
Great place for fresh and quality Indian sweets. This place also serves delicious Indian snack and food.
I am a regular customer here.. good sweets.. good snacks.. I specially love the vegetable chop.. just like kolkata :)
The Khajuri Sandesh is delicious, authentic in flavor and aesthetically beautiful. Instantly reminded me of home. Kudos for your efforts to stay true to these traditional recipes and wish you lots of success!
I love this little shop, and the owners are so lovely to chat with. Tasty assortment of sweets and snacks.
Best place for Indian sweets in Cary area. They specialize in Bengal style items including Sandesh.
Chaat was good. Thought it was a little pricey. It was very tasty.
The sweets and snacks are all fresh and prepared with great care. They taste exact how its back home. The masala chai is a must try for anyone craving a strong cup of tea.
Authentic Desi sweets and snacks with very welcoming owners who we talked for an hour over singara (AKA samosas), nimki and chai... All were made it to perfection... I was surprised to the quality of milk they use; they get their milk from local farm which is located closer to Charlotte (saw owner bringing milk if not delivered on time). Me and my wife definitely going to stop by in regular basis, as soon as our take home deserts finishes 😁😁
