Terrific! Ive done quite a few laptop component upgrades and repairs myself over the years, but recently ran into an unusual hardware problem. I needed help from someone that really knows hardware like the back of their hand. Though my problem was of an unusual nature, Phil quickly gave me several alternatives and then fixed it for me right there on the spot. I wouldnt hesitate to go there again.

Very disappointed.A few years ago, I had a couple good experiences with Absolute Computers, which is why I took a laptop in recently to get it fixed. Was told they were backed up so could be up to 5 days before they could even assess it to provide a quote. Instead, it took them 7 days and I had to call twice to find out. Then they quoted a price (seemed kind of high, but acceptable since had already been a full week waiting for the assessment & quote) but then after another week or so of not hearing back, I called yet again to check in and they said, oh, they couldnt locate the right part -- even tho they seem to pride themselves on being able to get any part needed, and this was for a well-known, popular brand laptop.So I said okay..any other options? The guy said they could glue the piece in, but would need to be very careful with it and they couldnt provide any warranty. Price (with no parts, just labor) still seemed rather high, but I thought about it and decided to go with it since didnt seem to be any other option. Then, another week passes and no call.. so I call again to check in -- was told that the guy who could do the glue-job was out of town (but just got back) and should be in within next couple days to take care of it and they would prioritize it since it had been several weeks already. Along the way, they said they tried to contact me once and left a message (which I never got -- because they called the wrong number, apparently?) so I made sure they had the correct number -- same one I had been calling from, but I guess they dont have caller ID.Then Another 4~5 days passes and no word from them!? So I call yet again and am told the guy who would know was out, but would call me when he got in the next morning.. no call the next day or the day after, so I call yet again..and this time Im told they dont have any notes (beyond that they tried to call me once & left a message -- to the wrong number), and that they cant fix the laptop, sorry. At this point it had been a full Month -- only to be told, oh..they couldnt fix it because they couldnt guarantee it!?I also tried emailing them 3 times over more than a week. Each time, I sent to 3 different emails they had listed.. 2 on their website and the email on the biz card the guy gave me at the beginning -- and I triple-checked each one to make sure they were correct addresses (no email bounce-backs, so had to be correct). Never got any email response from them.First time I mentioned it, a guy said, oh..sorry..he would check on it and see why no response.. A few days later, I was told, oh, they dont check their emails. Really? A computer repair shop that doesnt check emails? Emails listed on their own website and on their business cards?Abysmal lack of concern or service.I took the laptop somewhere else and the guy had it fixed the very next morning for a small fraction of what I had been quoted by Absolute. Its working great now.Cant believe I wasted a Month of time & effort going in circles with Absolute -- all for nothing.

Not sure how this place has been reviewed so well. I recommended my friend come here to get his tower fixed, because I saw the good reviews and figured they would be able to fix the issues. His computer was overheating and he left it with them for a few weeks. When he got it back it looked like the motherboard had been bitten by a dog and now the computer is worse than it was before he took it in to these guys. Do not take your computer here for any real repairs. The boomers may think these guys know what theyre doing, but they actually dont. Wont be recommending anyone else to come here.

I was super impressed by my recent experience with Phil at Absolute Computers. I had an old laptop that I wanted to bring back to life, but it needed an operating system to be installed and other general tune ups after having sat in a cabinet for the past four years.Phil met me at his store -- hes open by appointment only due to Covid-19. He then worked with me personally to get my machine up and running in about an hour.His rate was more than reasonable, given that I have a working computer now!I will definitely be using him again in the future -- and Id recommend him to anyone who has a computer that you want fixed because you arent ready to replace it yet. I was extremely impressed with the high level of communication, customer service, and price of Advanced Computer. I worked with the manager, Cullen, and could not have been any more impressed by his friendliness and knowledge of computers. I came in with a small issue expecting to be charged an arm and a leg just to have someone look at it. To my shock, they gave me a free evaluation on the problem with a more than reasonable estimate on the repair. Other local places were trying to charge me literally three times the amount for the same work as Advanced Computer. Upon pick-up I was shown what specifically was done with my computer and they already had it hooked up to a monitor to prove everything worked- which was fantastic. I cannot speak any more highly of this place, or their manager Cullen. I also had the opportunity to meet the owner, Phil. He was an extremely nice, down-to-earth guy with a passion for helping people. I am always leery of tech places trying to take advantage of customers but from the moment I walked in the door here those fears were instantly put at ease. Local computer repair business with awesome service and reasonable pricing! My Dell laptop that I use for my part time DJ business had slowed down to a crawl. It was actually getting worse after a recent Windows auto update. I was considering purchasing a new laptop, but that was going to be a huge pain to deal with since I have to DJ a wedding reception in mid September. My wife suggested taking it to Absolute Computers. We had used them a few years before on another laptop and they are very close to our home. After running diagnostics, Phil suggested replacing my old hard drive with a new solid state hard drive and letting him clean up all the unnecessary junk software that I had accumulated over the years. The price he quoted was much less than I would have to pay to replace it with a new laptop. After running a backup over the weekend, we dropped it off Monday morning and had it back that afternoon with the new hard drive installed! It was running faster than any computer Ive ever owned. We were completely blown away! Its been about 4 weeks since the upgrade and it is still running just as fast as the day we picked it up from Absolute. Phil and his team do not pressure you into anything. You will get all viable options and up front, affordable pricing. If you are having computer issues, give these guys a try before going elsewhere or replacing.

The measure of a place is always how they handle problems. Problems do sometimes arise - hey we are all human. And I do confess we did have some initial problems, but how the owner handled it more than made up for it! Once he became aware, he immediately called, apologized, not only made it right, but ended up not charging us to fix the computer! He did forget to do one thing he promised - reimburse my daughter for the $12 for the Uber she had to take to go back to the store to get her power cord (which had previously been lost). But even so, based on how the owner handled the situation, and the fact that the computer did get fixed right away once the issue came to his attention, I would highly recommend!

Was referred to them by a person I buy computers from. Walked in the door with the large computer in my hand. I was treated like I shouldnt be there asked what I was doing. I said bring my computer for repairs is that okay? His response was like Well see very rude, needless to say I left with my computer in hand.

They helped me keep within my budget and get the best possible computer from it.I recently ran into some trouble with said PC that I couldnt resolve myself so I took it in to them to help. They looked it over and got it back to me within a reasonable amount of time.The part I appreciate the most with them is when I go to pick up my computer they dont just shove it at me and say good as new. They sit down with the computer and show me what went wrong and how best to keep it from happening again in the future. These are really fair and awesome people. I called around to several shops. I needed to get my battery changed on my sons MacBook. It’s an older model and I received some astronomical quotes from other places. Not only was he the cheapest by a 1/3 of the rates others charged. His shop was the cleanest and most organized I saw. One shop I went near Mission Valley looked like tsunami hit. As soon as you walked in there was equipment and random parts laid all over the floor. Not here this was superb he fixed in less than 10mins right in front of me. I had a great feeling about him over the phone because was polite and honest about the labor time.He even offered to diagnose my sons PS3 for free. Turns out the PS3 is working fine. The advice he gave me about resetting it worked. He just an honest guy that does great work.

These folks are a blessing! Free diagnosis of your computer’s problems and very reasonable repair costs—and they get your permission about spending the money before going ahead. Very often, the problem that seemed catastrophic to us was a simple fix for them, and we spent far less than we would have dared hope. And quick! Turnarounds on repairs are fairly quick, and they always get back to you when they say they will. This is a business run with integrity and honesty. We’ll never go anywhere else for our computer needs as long as they’re around. (And I hope they will be around a very long time!)

Their experience and knowledge are also invaluable. I had to get several parts replaced on a computer. I ordered the parts myself b/c I had a good online deal and paid them to install. They even dropped it off at my house (dont expect this) because it was on one employees way home. If you have issues with a phone or computer, use this company!

Total FailMy experience took place over nearly a three (3) week fiasco when I brought my three (3) year Dell laptop into the shop due to display issues.When I walked into the store my gut told me to turn around based on what I saw, but I figured with all the great reviews perhaps Im missing something.(?) The entire place was filthy and in a state of COMPLETE chaos! Every inch of counter space was littered with disassembled computers, stacks upon stacks of laptops and a few dust covered computers for sale. Open parts packages hanging on the wall. Which of the young guys there were actually employees I never did quite figure out.Despite my gut, I left the unit and was promised a call in four (4) days regarding what repair was needed. Near the end of business on the fourth (4th) day-no call. I call them Oh yeah, I forgot. You need a new screen.No one had any idea how long it would take to get a new screen, so since the display was not that bad, I told them I would come to get the unit and wait for the new screen. Get to the shop, the screen is removed and once again I get the Oh, I forgot. The screen is hurriedly put back in the unit. (First (1st) of two (2) times the screen is removed from the laptop) I get a call not quite a week later your screen is in. BACK I go to the store to drop the computer off. The new screen has NOT been unboxed -no check for damage-no check for right part number.I get a call next day its the wrong screen. Back I go to pick up the computer to use while a correct screen is located. Once AGAIN the screen is out of the unit when I got when I specifically asked them to put it back together PRIOR to my arrival. Day or two (2) latter I get a call we cant find a replacement screen. Funny since I call Dell in the meantime and they told me no problem. (?) As I had prepaid for the screen I told them I was coming over to get a refund. Heres where REALLY gets good!When I arrive at the shop a gentleman I took to be the owner was frantically taking the screen out of disassembled laptop. I had this screen and its ALMOST new. (No mention of price adjustment). He gets the screen out and THEN asks me: yours is not a touch screen is it?. FIRST (1st) time in nearly three (3) weeks anyone asked me! So then the owner starts asking: who took it apart in the first place? Total silence Who wrote down the part number on the screen? Total silence. Who wrote down the service tag number or express service code number? (First thing Dell asked me) Again total silence. So the owner in kind of an oh well attitude tells me I guess we failed. He has NO cash for a refund, but offers a PERSONNEL check! After a few tries, my refund is put on my credit card. Do you really want to deal with a business like this?

The motherboard on my business desktop failed and the guys at Absolute did a great job in diagnosing the problem and offering several different options for rebuilding my machine. The end result was my computer was rebuilt in a timely manner and its speed and performance increased beyond my expectations. The customer service was great and they kept me informed of the status of the repair as several obsolete components had to be ordered. I can recommend this company without reservation and will be using the in the future for all my computer needs.

I was having some trouble with a desktop. I called Absolute Computers after seeing they offered free diagnostics. I spoke with Greg, who was friendly and professional.The turnaround on the diagnostics was three days, exactly as advertised. It turned out my hard-drive was not long for this world. I purchased a new hard-drive from Absolute. They gave a reasonable quote for installing the drive and re-installing windows, but I ended up doing install myself.Overall is was an excellent experience. I would definitely recommend them to a friend.

These guys are fantastic - highly knowledgeable and communicate well and explain things as they go. And when they say they do free diagnostics, they mean it. I paid nothing and I know they must have spent hours diagnosing a very unusual problem with a home built computer of mine. It was a strange problem where a voltage issue with the video card made it look like certain other parts of the computer werent working. They gave me a quote on replacement parts and labor that was perfectly acceptable. However, they kept at it and figured out this strange issue with the video card, so in the end, all I had to do was replace the video card under warranty (which I can do myself no problem), and since they had technically only done diagnostics, they charged me nothing. I actually feel like they deserve something for all the time they spent, but that is their policy... free diagnostics. I highly recommend them.

I have used Absolute Computers twice now- first time was after two different places told me everything on my computer was lost. Absolute was able to recover everything within a few days. The second visit, they fixed another laptop and afterwards, I had a few more questions and they helped me out free of charge. I will be recommending them and returning with all my computer needs.

I seem to have a knack for destroying hard drives and recently faced that dilemma again. I took it to the guys at Absolute Computers and found myself in the middle of the back-to-school rush.Since I needed to be back up & running asap, I told Cullen I would be happy to pay for their very reasonable rush service. Within a few hours he did indeed confirm that I had a total drive failure. Lucky me.Two days later, on a busy Saturday, they not only had me back up and running, but had recovered ALL of my data!! I damaged my I phone and screen beyond repair. I knew I would need to replace the phone but I wanted to save the photos and videos I had not backed up. AT&T and the Apple Store told me there was no way to back up and save the precious memories. Absolute computers put on a temporary screen on my phone that allowed them to back up and transfer all my data to another device. They did it quickly and for a reasonable rate.

Brought a laptop in for something of a power jack, and got it back with a couple of missing screws and speakers that hadnt been reconnected. (A simple enough job that I corrected that myself, but it suggests very poor diligence that nobody ran a basic check before giving it back to me.)

Excellent computer shop. They are extremely knowledgeable, friendly and have great prices. They went above and beyond helping me. I wouldnt go anywhere else.

Absolute Computers at Parkway Point in Cary is where I turn when I need computer repair. This latest episode was accurately diagnosed by their technicians. I was thinking I needed to replace the video card but they determined, correctly, that the monitor was the problem. They also streamlined my startup by disengaging unnecessary stuff, all at no cost. They saved me a lot of troubles and expense by providing their expertise. Thanks guys!

After buying all the parts to a gaming rig, I couldn’t figure out what the problem was. It wouldn’t turn on. I went back to Best Buy to look at a new mobo, and the sales guy recommended I bring it to Phil.Phil looked at it, tested the power supply and all of the components. The motherboard was the problem. He recommended I return the DOA mobo and he suggested a new board (through Amazon where I purchased the first one) and wouldn’t let me pay him for anything. Not for the diagnostics or consulting.I will support this small business for doing the right thing. And now the computer I built is awesome!Thanks Phil!!!!

This is my second time to Absolute Computers. The techs are great and working with Greg is always a pleasure. The first time I had a power issue. It was MUCH cheaper to go through Absolute than to ship back to CA even with the warranty since the parts were no longer covered.The second visit, found out my cooling system was completely broke (dropped something in the fan and ruined it doh!) Very quick on getting back to me, ordered the replacement cooling system and had Absolute Computers install.Always prompt in responses, quality help, and professional. Im from Raleigh, but both times were worth the drive. Thanks guys!

I recently stopped in after experiencing several issues with my laptop pc after I attempted a clean install of windows 7, I brought it and and they did a free diagnosis (which is very usual, but much appreciated). I picked it up the next day and they had already fixed it and all i needed to pay was 30$. After taking it home i was experiencing a small issue with it and took it in again, after having several others look into it they were able to diagnosis the issue and fix it, as well as explain to me what had happen. I went to go pay them again and the insisted that is was not a big deal and that no payment was necessary. I wish i could rate them higher than 3 stars, not only did they get my computer running as fast as if i had just bought it, but the customer service was exceptional.

Lovely people and service! After taking my Mac to the Apple Store -- who said it had corrosion in the logic board, a $750 repair -- I took it to these guys. They checked it out for free, got back to me less than a day later, said there was no corrosion that they could see, and didnt charge me a thing! If I had trusted Apple, I would be out 750 bucks. Im taking my laptop to these guys every time. You can trust them.

I sent my Mac laptop to this company because the mouse trackpad had stopped working, and I was really impressed with the speed and quality of their service. The owner got back to me the same afternoon that the package arrived at their office and told me the results of the diagnostics and an estimate of how much it would cost to fix, which was extremely reasonable. He let me know how long it would take to get replacement parts ordered, and they had everything fixed and on the way back to me by the day after that (and then it arrived the next day). The owner and employees definitely know their stuff and are very friendly and helpful.I read the unsatisfied customer review below and saw that someone had experienced a problem in the past, but just FYI, the company was bought by a new owner earlier this year, so that review doesnt really apply anymore. I hadnt used this business under the old management, but I can definitely recommend it now with the new owner.

I brought my Laptop in to get a solid state drive installed. They switched my drives, transferred my data, installed software I needed installed, and put my HDD in an enclosure so I could use it for backups and other data storage needs. They did it quickly, efficiently, and for a very reasonable price. I would, and have recommended Absolute Computers to my friends and will do so in the future.

I had a great experience with Absolute Computers. My Acer laptop stopped working and was sadly a fried motherboard. AC was incredibly thorough in finding the problem and took the time to make sound replacement suggestions based on my specific needs.Once I replaced the laptop they installed all the data and reconfigured it to look exactly like what I had been previously been using. They further took the time to explain all the differences between my old and new laptop as well as provide helpful suggestions related to extending battery life, security and privacy.Great experience and I would highly recommend!

I had used them for years and recommend then to lots of people. The last time I used them I had taken my computer in for an evaluation. I explained I was under time constraints and left it for for about four days before I called. I knew they were busy and I figured it was better if I didnt slow them down with phone calls.PART ONE: They had misplaced my computer. They hadnt even run any diagnostics. So if course it needed to run the diagnostics to be run then it needed a new hard drive. All of which required time and my time was getting really tight. I talked to one of the people there. He was apologetic and offered to have it ready early in the morning so I could pick it up on the way to the airport. I was unhappy and told him not to go to extreme measures and I would just have to get it three weeks later when I returned. I did remind him that this was their doing since they misplaced it in the first place.PART TWO: I returned from a trip three weeks later and went to pick it up and of course Nothing had been done. The computer guy thought I said I would pick it up when I got back. He assumed that meant dont do anything work to the computer.Again, I was not happy. I said no, I told you not to go to any extreme measures to have it ready before I left and I would pick it up when I got back. I did not tell him not to work on it.PART THREE: OK, days later I get it back after upgrading with a new faster hard drive. I get it home and look at for the data that was supposed to be transferred and there was no data. I called them and they did a remote look see and the data had not been successfully transferred. l was told they couldnt check to see if the data had been successfully downloaded, the customer had to check that.PART FOUR: The data transfer was finally made. Much, much longer than the five or six day turn around I was told to expect.Update. Now that I have spent more time working with my computer, I have to say it is working faster. It still takes some time to boot up.Owner called me back and was nice. It still takes a long time to boot up and all the original information was in an XP format. I had one of my kids help me move it over to a Windows 7 format. Still cant get the sound to work and the hard drive is almost full.Still not happy.

I used the mail in service on my iPad 2 to get the cracked screen repaired. Including shipping from and back to VA, the repair took under a week. I got my iPad back yesterday and it looks and functions great! The service was excellent and I would highly recommend it!

The staff was very friendly and efficient. Came in to replace a battery on my laptop and they also fixed a problem with my trackpad without charging. Would go back for any other computer problems and would definitely recommend to anyone!
