Let me first say that I love my new car. What made this experience was Matt Bishop. He made this process simple easy and I got exactly what I wanted and needed. When I went on the lot I wasnt sure what I was looking for other than a better car. He was patient and attentive and we found the perfect car for me. He deserves a pat on the back for trying to make sure everything was perfect. He even cleaned up the car himself. He is a great guy and I tell all my friends about Matt at Johnson Subaru because he made sure that my experience in buying a new car was stress free and easy. Thanks you guys and thank you Matt!

This is specifically for the service department. I purchased a 2022 Subaru Outback Wilderness. Loved the car until there was heavy rain. There was a leak that filled the floorboard on both the driver and passenger side with water. Dropped it off, got a loaner,, picked my car back up after three days and was told door seals were replaced, the service dept tested it, and the issue was fixed. Fast forward to the next time it rained and there is water in the car once again. I called the service representative that helped me the previous time directly and left a voicemail. By mid day the next day I still had not received a response so I called the main line. I was told to drop it off the next day during my work day which I cant just leave work and that they didnt have a loaner to give me. At this point Im risking permanent moisture damage to the interior of a brand new car since the floorboard has been completely soaked and they dont seem to think that repairing the issue is important.

I had an extraordinary experience with Matt! He went above and beyond so that I could get my new car. He picked up the car the day before to make the process easier for me. He asked all the information he needed the day prior because he knew I had to be at work at a certain time the next day. He is friendly and has great customer services skills! He checks up on me from time to time to make sure that my new WRX is working fine. I recommend asking for him if you’re interested in buying a vehicle. My overall experience was amazing! I couldn’t ask for more.

He was supportive in decision making and knowledgeable about the car. He did not try to sugar coat anything. His transparency was much appreciated. No waste of time just straight to the point which is my biggest win when purchasing a vehicle. As if that wasn’t enough, after settling in your vehicle Denise Vargas will sit with you in your car and explain how everything works so you can maximize the use of it. My experience with Johnson Subaru of Cary and my salesman, Matt Bishop, was nothing but extraordinary.I knew in advance which car I wanted. Matt made sure it was out and ready for me to see when I arrived. He also brought out another car with a different interior option. I was trading in my 2 year old Crosstrek, so I was very familiar with all the features, and once I decided on the interior, it was a done deal. Matt walked me through the purchase and trade in process as quickly as possible, all while helping to entertain/distract my 7 year old daughter that came along.Overall, the entire process was quick and painless. I will definitely be going back to Johnson and happy to work with Matt again in the future.

No pressure sales! Kevin Hickle is the guy to work with to buy your next Subaru. He’s very knowledgeable with the brand, models, specs, trim levels, & options packages. No pressure, attention, patient, & professional. Even when we switched several times between models, colors, & trim levels ! He can give approximate cost & spec differences off the cuff. Impressive! After researching & test driving with 5 manufacturers (Toyota, Honda, Subaru, Volvo, & Audi) between 12 dealerships. He was the most knowledgeable about the product and even knew the competition specifications. We ended up buying 2 SUVs (2021 Forester & 2022 Ascent) from Kevin due to excellent customer service & expertise. Most dealer sales reps don’t even know the manufacturer they represent, nor options & trim levels. When we took delivery he spent another hour (or more) walking us through any detail and question about the vehicle. Kevin Hickle will be our next car sales representative.

They’re fine when your purchasing a car, but are the absolute worst after that. We’ve called multiple times because we’re having car issues and they’ve never connected us with anyone or got back to us. The absolute worst service I’ve ever received. Just be prepared if you buy from them.

What a pleasant car shopping experience! Everyone was so helpful and had wonderful attitudes! Their customer service was “old school “. They cared about their job and what you were looking for. Didn’t try to push us Into some thing we didn’t want. Our salesman, spencer Andrews was excellent, he dealt with us over a two day period and even responded to our text after hours! We caused him to redo paperwork three or four times while we were making our decision. He was so understanding. He had to walk up a hill to get our car several times during the process and he never seemed agitated. It was hot too. Spencer made our car buying easy.

In the past Ive received experienced good service from Johnson Subarus service department. My most recent experience with their service department has dramatically changed my opinion regarding their customer service and dedication to the Subaru Love Promise.I brought my 2020 Outback Onyx XT in for two warranty services on Oct 13, soon after Johnson Subaru moved into their new building. One issue was addressed and repaired quickly. The other issues, a paint defect on the hood, was not addressed during that visit. I was told that the service department needed to send the claim out to Subaru corporate for a decision on wether it would be covered. I have received no update from Johnson since my visit on Oct 13. It is Nov 11 as of the writing of this review.Ive reached out to Johnson at least 6 times since that visit to inquire about the status of their decision, leaving messages for both my service advisor and the service manager. My service advisor did return my voicemail, but basically informed me that he had no update and did not know if they had contacted Subaru of America. Two voicemails to the service manager have gone completely unanswered. I called and requested to speak with the general manager and the receptionist told me my voicemails to the service manager may have gone to a dead mailbox and that the SM would DEFINITELY be calling me back that day. Its been three days and still no call back.I reached out to Subarus corporate customer service on October 26. They have also been unable to reach anyone at Johnson Subaru and they informed me that no warranty claim for the paint issue has been submitted by Johnson Subaru on my behalf.Im writing this review to hopefully get the attention of SOMEONE at Johnson, since all previous and reasonable attempts to contact them have gone completely ignored. Im happy to update my review once the service department recognizes my issue and begins working on an outcome.Johnson Subaru - you have my contact info. Please have someone call me.

I called Johnson Subaru about a used car we found online and was put with a salesman and made a time to meet. Our salesman, Ken Wiggins, made us feel welcome and comfortable immediately. His calm and friendly demeanor along with his knowledge from many years in the auto industry made for a great experience. We didnt just run up with a salesman, we made a friend. Poor experience here unfortunately. Scheduled a time to look at a used vehicle only to arrive, wait for a bit, and then be told that the car I was assured was still available had instead been sold the previous day (apparently before I was assured it was still available). The staff was quite friendly, courteous, and apologetic about the problem. However, their organizational system clearly does not work and the courtesy didnt give me back the hour plus that I wasted on this visit. Very frustrating unfortunately.

Have been dealing with a malfunctioning head unit for two years in my 2020 Outback. I can’t get anyone from the dealer to return my calls and all I want to do is get my car fixed. They send you straight to voicemail and won’t call back. I have had to call Subaru USA and they are trying to help me but even they are having trouble with the dealer. This is my first Subaru and probably my last, largely due to the treatment by Johnson Subaru.

Reading all of the positive reviews certainly made us confident we had chosen the right dealer. This was not the case at all. We communicated intentions to trade via email and phone. When we got there it was like starting over. The salesperson kept trying to push models we were not interested in and waited until we arrived to tell us most of the inventory was at a different location. We saw a couple of vehicles (significantly overpriced) and asked for our trade valuation. Upon seeing the severe lowball we ended the transaction. Definitely not worth the drive.

Highly recommend this dealership! I live in Wilmington and found a used vehicle that fit the needs of my company. Made an appointment for the next day with Jake Boyce. Upon arriving Jake had the vehicle pulled to the front of the dealership, keys in hand, ready for my test drive. I took all the time I needed to look everything over while they worked on the out the door price. It drove great! Everything depicted in the online description and photos were spot on so I was ready to make a deal! When I arrived back at the dealership Jake had my out the door price ready and it was great! Below what I was anticipating to spend! The process afterwards was seamless and quick! Carly was great and had everything lined up and offered me an amazing extended warranty which I gladly accepted! The vehicle was detailed and I was thanked again by Jake and Jonathon who thanked me again for coming by. Amazing service, worth the 2 hour drive! I’ll be returning when I’m in the market again!

Luke was the salesman assigned to me. He brought the car from Cary to Durham ( about 30 minutes drive) and I was able to test drive the car. Overall my experience was very positive and I didn’t feel pressured. Furthermore, I was able to get the car at a fair price. Would recommend Luke at Johnson at Subaru!!

Had my car in for the 120k service. Customer service was great, phone communication could not have been better. Loaner was really generous. Experience was top-notch.Had some confusion regarding a broken lumbar function on the drivers seat. A simple metal clip had broken but the dealer was only able to offer to replace the seat to the tune of $900. After some online research I was able to find instructions on how to replace the broken clip for a couple of dollars. The service dept. at a dealership will not recommend a homemade solution to a broken part, so take the time to ask questions of the technician. If they cannot help you in an official Subaru capacity, they may be able to direct you in alternative solutions or more thorough explanations of the situation. Jay, specifically, was very amicable on the phone and walked me through the issue in detail. Will be taking the car back for my next service.

Spencer seemed disengaged and disinterested from the moment we walked on the lot. When I asked about the difference between the Limited and Touring, he responded “more bells and whistles”. Ive tried to get in touch with finance via phone and email for over a month in order to cancel my extended warranty. No one has picked up the phone in finance or returned an email. Theyre quick to take your $, but good luck trying to get any back. My interactions during purchase and maintenance/service of my car were good, but theyve lost a return customer and my recommendation for their dealership. Ive worked in customer service my whole life and understand being busy. But no response in over a month in extremely unprofessional.

The rep I talked to was plenty nice but I made an appointment to see a car and when I showed up to test drive it, as the rep was having me sit in the car for a test drive he informed that it had already been sold. Im so upset, Ive been doing so much research, secured the cash and drove out of town for this car only to be slammed as soon as I get there. It would have been so easy to give a call to let me know it was taken and they didnt. Super unhappy with this experience.

Terrible costumer service. I made an appointment to test drive a vehicle 3 days in advance. I specified which model I wanted to test drive and the rep said it was available. When I got there for my scheduled time I waited only to have the sales man, Matt show up 25 minutes late then hand me off to another sales man without explanation. Then found out that they didnt have the model I wanted to test drive. What a waste of an hour. Youd think they would let you know of the shortage and advise they didnt have Outbacks to test drive.

Through the Bank of America digital car shopping portal, I came across a beautiful 2019 Lexus that I knew would be gone if I did not take action. I got in touch with the dealer (Johnson Subaru) virtually and informed them of my circumstances/stipulations and they quickly wrote me a quote. I received a call to go over the quote, and politely let them know that the projected quote exceeded what I was willing to pay. I thought I would not hear from them again, which is pretty standard but no, I received an email from Robert Brunson (general sales manager) with a quote that better reflected what I discussed on the first call. I decided to visit the dealer and test drive the car. That is when I met David Diaz (sales and leasing associate). David allowed me to take my time on the test drive and at no point did I feel rushed. I ended up finishing the buying/paperwork process with David. What ultimately sold me on the car is the fact that they never veered away from what was originally quoted, offering to pay for Apple CarPlay installation, the great customer service and the swift actions of the overall team leading up to that day. My only gripe is that I was there for 3 hours (which is pretty normal) but they are a pretty high volume store, so a wait is to be expected.

I was in touch with multiple dealerships while researching the best price point on my new Forester. Johnsons price was significantly below all other quotes I was provided. I had a fabulous experience working with Maria Mendoza and Godfrey to get the exact vehicle trim and color I was interested. Using a car app on Wed May 5th I sent a check for availability request, shortly after that I was contacted by a person named Maria she was courteous and we agreed that I would come by in about an hour and take the car for test drive. About 15-20 minutes later Maria called and said the car was in service and would not be available to be looked at till completion possibly Friday she would call when available.Told her thanks. 2 hours later some jag off called me and said someone was coming to look at it tonight and if they didnt buy it I could come by and look at it next. The reviews are correct and justified..this is the place to go if you want a car subaru or no subaru..our sales executive LUKE BURNS is a rare example in this generally over aggressiveness push the customer and tire him out kind of business sales model that we all despise.Luke was everything but those and he is patient and compassionate and most surprisingly a very good listener. Never ever was I pushed too hard to make a sale..we did not seem to be just another number on the weekly report for him . The managers and finance girls were amazing and worked out with us and the bank with all the paperwork we were in and out in a total of 3 hours and less . He also took care of a couple of minor obstacles but the overall experience was so good that after visiting 9 dealerships all across town we came back to him amd his team for our new car ! I wish Luke and his team all the best and apologies for the haggle like I said its just the indian in me you cant get rid of :)

My first time here for service was super confusing! (I usually go to southern states since it’s closer to my house)when I arrived there were Not enough signs to direct where I should be going so I parked and walked in. It was my first scheduled service for my ‘21 Forester. I stood around the desk of service reps awkwardly(another weird set up felt more like sales) for about 15 mins waiting for Help. Once I was helped by Michael everything went smoothly from there. He was really friendly and my car was washed before I received it. I chose to wait on site. Two hours was not unreasonable. I will be back again for service.

Had a great experience this past weekend buying a used Passat. Mr. Ken, Ms.Cecilia and Mr. Nelson were all very nice and easy to work with. I grew up in Goldsboro, but live in West Virginia and work in DC area. All the cars in my area are overpriced and the salesman are rude. I understand pandemic pricing has increased and the chip shortage has made it harder for buyers to get reasonable prices and by all means salesmen need to make profit too, but a response to a potential buyer to an obviously overpriced vehicle shouldn’t be “I’ll sell it at whatever price I want and not have to negotiate with the next guy”. In the few minutes we talked on the phone with Ms. Cecilia and Me. Ken I could tell they were nicer and willing to work. That experience alone made it easier for me to book a plane ticket immediately after getting off the phone and flying down and getting the car the next morning. Mr Ken even came in on his day off finish the deal (hope the turkey turned out nice) when I arrived the car wasn’t exactly as I expected but still beautiful and I feel like Mr Nelson and Mr. Ken did right by me. After things settle down and dealers in my area are cold calling me begging for my business I’m going to tell them they may not remember how I was treated but I do and I’ll take my business back to Johnson Subaru.

If buying a Subaru means you have to bring your car in to Johnson Subaru of Cary for service, I would rethink purchasing a vehicle. There is an alarming amount of recalls on the Ascent and the service department in Cary is terrible. Awful communication, customer service and wait times. I spent 4 hours today waiting for my car. I was told it would take 90 minutes and had 2 kids under 4 with me. It was a nightmare! Not once did someone call me to give an update or explain why it was taking so long. This is my second experience like this with the service department. This place is mismanaged- Go to Southpoint if you want a Subaru. Avoid this place !

This was the best car dealership experience we have ever had. We have had such bad experiences in the past that we were leaning towards buying online, but it was easier to stop by a local dealership to arrange test drives. We worked with Godfrey on the sale/trade-in and he has the best energy - no pressure, but still very sociable - he makes you feel comfortable and answers every question promptly. He is very experienced and can tell you all the differences between different models, model years, and trim levels off the top of his head. I went to the dealership 3 times for test drives and to pick out the car I ended up buying and Godfrey was patient with me the whole time. We worked with one of the business managers Chelsea, to finalize our financing and paperwork, and she was very informative and made the process easy to understand overall. There are so many car dealerships out there who badger you constantly for a sale, give misinformation, and you leave feeling slimy or exhausted. Johnson Subaru is not that place. If you want a car-buying experience that is not only painless but even pleasant, visit them and ask for Godfrey!

Went to Johnson Subaru searching for a used Outback. My salesman, Sebastian, was waiting outside to greet me for my appointment. When I looked at other vehicles at other dealers, I was always surprised with how little the salespeople knew about the used car I was looking at. I felt like I had to tell them about features and how other vehicles compared. At Johnson, Sebastian gave me a run down about every feature without any hesitation. He was prepared for our appointment. From that point on everything went smoothly without any pressure by Sebastian or manager. Great experience!!

Went to this dealership after reading amazing reviews and I am a person who leaves 5-star reviews at almost every place, but Im sorry I have to do this. My girlfriend and I went car shopping here and test drove the Crosstrek, we wanted to discuss the number - just a discussion. The salesman assured us that it will be two soft inquiries on the credit. We asked and verified thrice from him. Later, they said we cant qualify due to our visa, however, there were two hard inquiries on the credit without even buying the car. This was AFTER the salesman assured us that it will be a soft inquiries. There shouldnt be a miscommunication within the team. This was extremely unprofessional as neither did the salesman apologize, nor the finance team. It was a terrible experience. Make sure you get everything in writing before believing anything these guys say.

Unsure about Express Service so schedule in advance and theyll have you in/out quickly, overall friendly staff wanting to do their best work.-----------Update - 10/9/2019 (+2 star)Had another routine maintenance and warranty service, requiring two different visits. Booked the initial appointment in advance instead of trying to go through their Express Service and had a seamlessly positive experience. Jamie ensured the paperwork and loaner car was ready upon my arrival. I was in and out in less than 10 minutes each time.High-caliber service delivered in a seamless experience that minimizes disruption to the customers life.======================Original Review - 2/5 Stars - 4/11/2019Friendly enough staff, but Express Service is a cruel joke. 9 hour wait for an oil change.-------------Tried calling a little after 8:00AM this morning to check wait times and no one answered, but after reading the description of the Express Service that says Stop in for an oil change.. -no need to schedule ahead of time!... well get you back on your way. Fast. I figured Id follow their recommendation and just stop in, as it was early in the morning and I thought the queue wouldnt be bad. So I drove the twenty minutes to Johnson Subaru arrived around 8:20-8:30AM, parked my Subaru Outback and went to the service area (would help if there were signs or instructions on where to go for check-in btw). After five minutes of standing awkwardly in the service area one of the reps told me hed be right with me, then different rep did the same, then after another five minutes a different gentleman approached me and asked if I had been helped.The rep looked up my name and noticed I didnt have an appointment, I explained I was trying to do the Express Service for an oil change and he chuckled a little bit. He informed me that there were 14-19 cars in front of me in queue and that if I wanted to wait it would be about nine hours. NINE. HOURS. for the *Express* Service.The car is around a year old at this point and I remember having a similar issue last time I tried to get an oil change. I showed up first thing in the morning and waited four or five hours for an oil change. Difference was last time they didnt tell me the wait would be that long.Please stop advertising Express Service on your website if you cannot honor it, Im sure Im not the first one to make the mistake of actually believing that you can just drop in and quickly be serviced. Youre creating unneeded frustration and wasting peoples time. I took an hour out of my day, drove all the way out there and back to just schedule an appointment. Its an oil change, it should take twenty minutes, I shouldnt have to book an appointment two weeks out just to get an oil change. Johnson Subarus service department really needs to get it together.Could have also been avoided if someone answered the phone this morning.Wouldve given one star if the staff werent as friendly and they werent anyways sending coupons. I really hope that they will improve and make it a much more pleasant/efficient experience as I would prefer to keep the service records with Subaru.

First, let me start by saying, I have a Subaru dealership about 45 min from my house. I chose THIS dealership, 3 hours away from my house, based on my aunts experience a month prior. Neither of us have owned a Subaru before, so I trusted her first-time experience with them. She did most of it by texting. I did also, as it was more convenient for me with my work schedule. It was definitely worth the drive. They were true to their word on all agreements made in the texts. I got a very fair trade-in value for my vehicle. But mostly, they worked with my needs. My one item that was non-negotiable was having a manual transmission. They worked with another dealership in my state to get the vehicle I wanted to their location. I could have gone directly to the other dealership, but I had trust in this dealership. And I was not let down! And even the other sales guys were very friendly as we were talking about the 6mt version. They were all very knowledgeable as well.Throughout the process, no matter who I was dealing with: Robert Brunson, Mark Demsko, or post-sales, Denise (dont know last name), all were patient, friendly, and willing to help in any way. Mark was outstanding at the point of sale. He went above and beyond in making sure I had everything I needed and that the vehicle was looking good for my 3-hr trip home. When I came back a week later on a personal trip, I returned to the dealership to purchase a tag mount. He was very helpful in getting everything lined up through the parts dept to ensure it was ready when I arrived. After my car was cleaned, he was willing to dry off the car, even though it was close to closing time and very cold out (but I didnt have him do that)!I would definitely recommend this dealership to anyone looking for a Subaru.
