I just moved to NC and found myself in need of a place to take my car for service on my A/C. I was really looking for a local business so I did a research “deep dive” and came across the amazing reviews for Renaissance Auto Care. I called to make an appointment and the owner, Jay, was able to get me in right away.From my first conversation with him, I felt welcomed and comfortable leaving my vehicle in his hands. He was thorough in letting me know what could’ve been happening with my A/C, and what he needed to do to diagnose the situation.I had some things to do at home so a staff member, Ethan, drove me home so I could wait comfortably for Jay’s call. Once inspected, he explained everything to me to make sure I understood what was happening with my car and the options I had for repair. Not once did I feel pressured to have work done. Jay just explained his findings and let me make my own decision. I was given a quote range (which I expected because with the A/C system, you never know if it’s minor or major until you’re in there) and timeframe for the service completion and he kept me updated on the progress. It took very little time, the final cost was on the low-end of the quote and my air was finally working again!Renaissance Auto Care is everything these other positive reviews say they are-and more. My wifes Volvo V70 was making a strange sound. I had never been to Renaissance and needed to find a garage familiar with European cars and I took it to Jay at Renaissance. He originally diagnosed the issue and thought they fixed it by replacing a part in a timely manner. My wife and I had to borrow a family members car to continue day to day commutes while the car was in the shop. We picked it up and drove it home. The next day we went on a family vacation for a week. When we returned we started the car and the same noise was apparent. I called Jay and he said to bring the car in the next business day. I explained we didnt have any transportation lined up like before, so he offered us a loaner at no charge. I expressed some disappointment about the previous repair not being the cause of the noise. Jay assured me that he would take care of us, so the following day they called to tell me that they resolved the issue. (Another part) When I asked how much this repair would be, they told me no charge. I picked it up and returned the loaner. Its great to find a business that stands by their work even at a loss. I cant say enough about Jay and Renaissance Auto Care Inc. They earned my business and I will return and refer friends and family from now on. If I could give six stars I would! My AC stopped working and I was looking for a trustworthy shop to replace the AC compressor and find the root of the problem. I decided to go to Renaissance due to all the 5 star reviews and they did not disappoint. I was weary about taking it anywhere because I’ve had several issues with this car and have had bad experiences with mechanics in the past. Jay was as upfront and honest as you could ask for. He diagnosed my car and found the problem before he charged me anything. He gave me a full run down of what they would need to do, gave me a quote, and said he’d have it ready by the end of the next day. Sure enough, they finished it right on time, they went above and beyond, and charged me less than he initially quoted because it wasn’t as bad as it could have been. The owner carefully explained everything to me to make sure I understood what needed to be repaired and what did not. I did not feel like I was being tricked into getting more work done than I needed, which was great! Called Jay out of the blue to see if he could help my dad with a car that wouldnt pass inspection. Dads other garage was unhelpful. Jay walked my dad through the steps he should take, had him bring the car in, and managed to get the emissions / check engine system to clear, went quick and took the car for an inspection (which they dont do at the shop) and saved my dad from losing his patience, his mind, and his car... and only charged him for the inspection. These guys are the best! Good ole southern gentleman that know their stuff. Heck, the owner cares so much about cars that he was visibly upset when I told him I never changed the timing belt in my tundra and it had over 200k miles on it. Needless to say, I got a timing belt put on and it was 1/2 the price the dealer gave me.

Very knowledgeable and great communication. Had my water pump replaced due to an antifreeze leak when the temperature warning light started flashing and I also asked if my old water pump could somehow be connected to my ac not feeling very cold. Jay explained it thoroughly that it could be but could also be caused from low freon. Since the water pump replacement, I havent experienced any antifreeze leaks and the temperature warning light hasnt come on again. The ac has also been consistently cooler. Thanks for the great service!

My wife and I were referred to Jay and we are so glad that we went. After going to the Honda dealership and being told we needed all new pads and rotors and it would cost around $1300, we decided to seek another opinion. Jay drove the car and was honest with us. He stated that the brakes and rotors didn’t need to be replaced immediately because they still had plenty of miles left on them. It’s very hard to find truthful auto shops that don’t try to get you to have everything under the sun done to your car. We will be back to Renaissance when it’s time for new brakes and rotors! I will never step foot in Honda of Southpoint again because they will charge you regardless of getting work done to your car or not.

I have been to Renaissance auto several times with MB R350, MB GL450 and Audi Q7. Jay is extremely knowledgeable, professional but mostly, he tries to educate the customer on the car and the repairs. Jay is fantastic! Helped me out when I was in need of help with my check engine light. Helped me diagnose and install a new oxygen sensor. The old oxygen sensor was heavily rusted on and would not come off, but jay and his team found a way, staying in my budget and turned it around in just over 24 hours. Jay then took the time to show me my old and rusty oxygen sensor and demonstrating how it fits into a manifold. I highly recommend jay to anyone in the Raleigh / Cary area.

I wont take my car anywhere else now. I took my car in because I suspected a chain car care center was trying to drastically overcharge me for brake pads. Not only did they do a quality job at a fair price, but they were even honest enough to tell me that my rear pads still had 40% of their life left. They prioritize building their customer base over just making a one time sale. They will explain everything to you, and they will be honest about what you actually need to have done. I cannot recommend them enough.

Everything in previous reviews is 100% correct! Jay and Gene are are the real deal. I have always done my own work on my vehicles because I distrusted mechanics, but Jay and team have change my perception of garage integrity. They give clear descriptions about problems and the repair options you may have. They have bent over backwards to accommodate us time and time again. They set accurate expectations of the work and completion times and will go out of their way to meet them. Even if that means staying late until the job is finished. Prices are fair and I am comfortable letting them do whatever they feel needs doing (I cant believe I just said that about a mechanic) :-) They are there to earn your business... NOT to just take your money. If I could only find one criticism, it would be that the customer-facing area (waiting room and front desk) needs a bit of sprucing up. I dont expect the atmosphere of a day spa, but a little paint, new furnishings, and general tidiness would go a long way. I have engaged Jay in many off-topic discussions about cars we may be looking to buy, and his passion and knowledge for cars is very apparent. Give them a call. I first came to Renaissance after spending around over 1,000 dollars trying to get a brake problem fixed at another shop; the other place replaced a bunch of parts but didnt do anything to improve the braking issue.Renaissance fixed it on the first try, for a lot less.Ive never been to an auto care place that with the level of professionalism, honesty, and quality of work that even comes close to what you get here. Seriously. Jay always gives an honest and clear explanation of the problem, and he will discuss all the options.He never hesitates to point you in another direction if it he feels like you can get a better deal elsewhere.As an example, I had an emissions problem that he could have fixed, but it would have cost a lot more if I had gotten him to do it. He pointed me to a emissions guy on the other side of town that was able to do it for a fraction of the cost, instead.This place is the real deal.

Ive been looking for a new shop, and this place was recommended. Its just what I was looking for - a small shop with polite, competent and honest staff. Jay, the owner, took the time to explain the problems I was experiencing, and clearly explain my options and the value of each, without pushing the most expensive option (in fact, the option he favored for my main problem was a no-cost wait and see option). The work that was done was done well, in a timely manner, and fairly priced. Couldnt ask for more than that.

The team at Renaissance Auto Care in Cary NC have maintained my cars (MB E430 and MB 300CD) over ten years. I would not take my cars anywhere else. They are honest and reliable and they dont over charge because Im a female - what a nice relief! Also, if they fix something and it reoccurs they correct it, no problems, additional charges. Several times a year I make 1500 mile road trips and they always make sure my car is safe and road-ready.

The crew at Renaissance did a great job on a major overhaul of my beloved Toyota Landcruiser this past January. Its been 3 months since the work was complete, and the truck is better than ever. As I do most maintenance work myself,( Im high maintenance)-Jay, Gene and Ray listened to all I wanted done and Im very pleased. Timing belt, steering rack, new suspension lift kit- all was done to spec, and nothing fell through the cracks. Its good to find a trustworthy shop in Cary with quality technicians and at a fair price.

Once again stellar service from Renaissance Auto, Jay and the team! My Land Cruiser rarely needs service, but when it does, this is the only shop I trust for major work. Rear main seal leak, some new motor mounts and suspension work- driving out with my 300k cruiser like its new again. Thanks guys!

My car wouldnt start Monday morning and after AAA looked at it, we determined it wasnt a battery problem. Thinking it was the starter I called my usual shop in Cary to have it looked at; they told me it would be more than a week before they could look at it. I call several other shops including the dealer and they all said the same thing. Then I called Jay at Renaissance and he was able to look at it immediately. Fortunetly and mysteriously, my car has started 100s of times for them and they cant fix what they cant find. After many hours of searching for the problem and lots of check-ins with me, I am leaving the shop without any work done but also with no bill! Thats right, after making me a priority for 2 days, they are letting me go without asking for a penny in labor. I have found my new home! Thanks so much Jay and the team at RAC!!!

Jay has taken great care of our vehicles, hes honest enough to tell you when your vehicle doesnt need service youre asking for or when it can be serviced less frequently than you thought.

I called Jay in a bind(of course) and he took SO much time to explain everything to me- and did NOT try to sell anything at all- in fact, after spending 2 hours there, he did not charge me for his time! I was told about Gene from a co-worker who has serviced his cars at Renaissance for years. I’ve recently started taking both of our BMWs (2007 335i, 2005 330ci) to Gene. His auto service (and customer service) is tremendous. He has been very thorough, accommodating and fair. Gene has gone the extra mile (or three) to provide the best possible service and does this without breaking the bank! I trust these guys!!
