Discovery Automotive is awesome! I called on a late Friday afternoon because my vehicle would not start. AAA towed it to their shop and within an hour of its arrival, Michael began the diagnosis. The following Monday I knew what was wrong: dead battery, footwell module, cracked drive belt, and worn spark plugs. And, later I decided to also take their recommendations to replace the: brake fluid, front and rear wipers, cabin and engine filters, and all the bulbs that were out. The car has been sitting for a while, and needed some maintenance. Tracey, Michael, and Nathan are the friendliest and most helpful people. It was a pleasure working with them! The customer service is top-notch, and the turnaround time is fast. They specialize in European cars. I will definitely be back. Highly recommend!

Had a great experience. Very friendly and accommodating. I had to fix my PDC parking sensor and I had the part. Generally nobody fix the parts provided by the customer but they did it and before the promised time. They have good knowledge about the car and give good advice on how to take care of the car.

Very nice at first, but a scam. Also, very rude. There was a miscommunication and the business owner, who is at least a 50 year old male, was yelling at me, a 21 year old girl. I spent over $500 on a mirror, then they ordered it in the wrong color and after telling me it would be a favor to me to fix, they charged me over $100. Poor communication skills. Will help you find the cheapest price, but customer service is HORRIBLE!!!

Its all began with Michael. This gentleman was courteous, knowledgeable, welcoming, and a stand out representative of this company. I dropped my LR2 off for a repair after hours of research and they knocked it out the park. I wont say the cost but just know it was A FRACTION of the dealership cost. Along the lines of any sensible, professional mechanic would charge. You dont find much of that. Also to paint the picture, there were loads of Land Rovers and a few BMWs as well. Cars being service were old and new. This tells you about the trust owners have the experience the shop has. They also did a REAL courtesy inspection of items. I will be going back for additional services because of their quality work, timely repairs, honesty, and welcoming attitude. I cant say enough good things. They were able to get me an appointment rather quickly, they let me wait in the waiting room (although this is not required; I just like to wait while my car is getting worked on), they were able to diagnose my issues quickly, and fix everything that afternoon. I purchased a used 2004 Range Rover that I knew was gonna have some issues. Turned out it had more issues than I anticipated. I got it to Daves shop and he diagnosed the problems 1 by 1 and started chipping away at each problem. Dave is very thorough and trust worthy and im sure this is passed down to his mechanics. I have been working with Discovery for years. They have serviced my 02 Mini cooper S, My 2012 Mini Countryman All 4 S, my 2005 BMW M3 convertible, and now my 2012 Mercedes. Dave is honest about what needs to be done to your car. It might not always be what you want to hear but his concern is for the overall well being of the car, your safety, and ultimately preventing issues in the future. You cant always fix just one piece as a band aid. Trust me it will always cost you more in the end. He and Tracy and his amazing staff are well trained, work with integrity, and you can be assured they will go out of their way to make sure the job is done correctly. If you are looking for a cheap fix or a shop that will simply repair and band aide an issue you should probably go to Pep Boys or a chain. I trust them with all my cars and ultimately my safety and the safety of my family. These guys are awesome.

Ive visited the shop twice, with two different cars and both times, Ive been very satisfied with the work theyve done. In addition, the staff is friendly and creates a very welcoming atmosphere. On one of the occasions I was there waiting on an alignment, I witnessed several customers come and go. The staff had clearly developed a great relationship with each, including going into detail about things like summer camps, college visits, etc.

Stopped for help. Was trying to get to my daughter and my tire was losing air. Just needed quick look and some air so I could get to my daughter. Discovery Automotive is a Jag and Land Rover specialist workshop in Cary NC. Run by a husband and wife team - she runs the business - schedules your visit and chases down parts for your car. He is the techie that knows his Jags and Land Rovers. The service and advice is superb and where the Jag dealer is very obviously trying to run up the bill Discovery stick to what you want and advises you if they see anything else. Unlike the dealer who always wants to use very expensive genuine Jag parts Discovery knows that aftermarket parts are often just as good and will use them when they are right for you and your car. If you drive a Jag dump the dealer and go see these guys and save yourself some money without risking your Jag at just any old shop.

Pretty impressed with the pre-sale inspection. They did a very detailed inspection. Great staff. Must recommend it if you looking for a pre-sales inspection and yes worth the price.

This is a PARTS and Labor shop. This means if you when to the trouble of buying parts from a vendor these guys will NOT install them.I understand the risks associated with installing Customer-supplied parts however, it is very straight forward to provide clear no warranty for parts agreements.Very disappointing.

I recently purchased a gently used 2012 Audi A5 Cabrio and it needed a 35,000 service maintenance performed on it. I had zero interest in taking it to an Audi dealer so I researched all the local Cary European shops and Discovery came very highly recommended. Tracey and Dave were really super nice folks and incredibly honest and straightforward. I asked a lot of questions as this is our first German car and they were both very helpful with post-service advice. I plan on making Discovery Automotive the only place where we will take our Audi. This is the best place that I have ever taken my 2001 P38 Range Rover. I have been to multiple mechanics since buying my truck and Dave is by far the best mechanic that has ever worked on it. Dave is honest, incredibly knowledgeable and as trustworthy as they come. Ive been overwhelmingly happy with the work done as well as the work that was not necessary. I had asked for some maintenance to be done and Dave instead put it off for another visit when we have to take the wheels off for another reason. In other words, he was looking out for me by not incurring labor charges twice when it wasnt necessary to perform the work today.

My husband and I went to Discovery Automotive from a referral from my regular mechanic at Autoway. I desperately needed a wheel alignment. I had a tire blowout on Highway 40 right before the first snow storm. They did an awesome job. I love honest mechanics! For sure they are apart if my regular car repair and maintenance team!

Ridiculous ego that cant stand to be challenged. Could not diagnose the root cause of a check engine light. Blamed it on his software. Found another mechanic who pinpointed it in under an hour. Appears to be using online reputation software because many negative reviews have disappeared. Buyer beware!

This place is amazing! Dave and his crew do great work at a great price, and they stand behind all of their repairs with a warranty. They were able to squeeze me into their schedule on short notice for a substantial repair, and they had my truck fixed and back on the road before the end of the day. I purchased a 2003 BMW Z4 Roadster convertible in September 2014. The coolant light came on a few weeks later and I contacted Tracy at Discovery Automotive. I told her about the problem and mentioned that I was leaving for vacation in a few days and wanted to drive the Z4 on vacation. Tracy had me bring in the Z4 immediately. Dave, the owner, promptly diagnosed the problem as well as provided me with a detailed list of some additional maintenance work that my newly purchased used BMW Z4 required. I was very impressed with the level of Daves thoroughness and initiative in providing me with this list and I had the work completed. I am very satisfied with the quality of care that Dave and his team have provided. I have had Dave perform additional service work on my BMW Z4 since September and have continued to be impressed with the excellent customer service. I trust Dave and plan to rely on him, Tracy and his team for their expertise and care for any future work that I might require for my BMW Z4.

Discovery Automotive is a great alternative to the dealership. Dave will not sell you anything that you dont need and I like his dont spend your money unless its absolutely necessary attitude, especially when it comes my Land Rover. He doesnt nickel and dime me, I get great knowledgeable service and the convenience of a loaner car while mine is being serviced if necessary. The best indy shop around in my opinion.

Dave and Tracy run a fantastic shop. I found them after I purchased a BMW and was looking for a local shop that I could get to know the mechanic who would be working on my car. Trust is a big deal. Dave and Tracy have demonstrated time and again that I can trust them to always have my best interest in mind talking about my car.Recently, I had basic regular maintenance performed (oil change, rotation and alignment) work done.Dave also used BG ERP as part of the oil change service. Ive noticed the next day, and all the other times that he has performed this service for me, that my car seems to drive so much better. It may be an exaggeration, but it felt like it picked up an extra 50 pound-feet of torque.Ive also taken my sons car to his shop, where Dave provided a pre-purchase inspection (but after I already bought the thing used), and provided an honest estimate for all the work that would be needed to the car to bring it back to full performance.Dave would also provide a pre-trip inspection of my car at no cost, providing a good feeling of confidence that my road trip will be free of breakdowns. (I just need to remember to have that inspection done at least a week before I am heading out on the road trip)One time, I was out of town, not road trip out of town mind you, and my check engine light lit up. I had an AutoZone ODBI printout, and Dave answered that the codes presented were not critical, and I could safely drive the car back. That kind of customer service is just one of the things that makes Discovery Auto stand out.I am not sure if David is an Eagle Scout or not, but what it comes down to is that he sure runs his shop with the 12 points of the Scout Law in mind.

LmaoLet me clarify alittle more...The differential is already out of the vehicle with the supplied kit from land roverEven if the diff was in the truck a land Rover dealer only charges 1400$ for the job... My review will stay. I definitely stated I removed it myself and had the rebuild kit from rover which you told me you wouldnt use mine and would buy the same exact kit yourself(with a bit of attitude).

This is the best garage in the area!! They not only work on Range Rovers, BMWs and Audis, they also work on American made cars. They are very good at what they do. They are honest, do a great job and fix the issues the first time. Dave and Tracy are down to earth and easy to get along with. If you have a potentially difficult issue, Dave will investigate the issue so he can give you good advice on the issue and how best to fix it without breaking your bank account.

I recently carried my wifes 2004 BMW 530i with 299,000 miles on it to Discovery Automotive for service. We purchased her vehicle new from Performance in Chapel Hill and always carried it to them for service. We decided to look for service closer and, thank goodness, we decided to try Discovery Automotive mainly because of their positive reviews and they were in Cary; no more trips to the dealership! The service was outstanding, the staff was very professional, AND you will not have to get a 2nd mortgage to pay for your repairs. Their prices are very affordable! Took my Mini in for a new battery. Battery, installation and battery registration were done quickly and much less than the dealer quoted. Would recommend them and use them again.

A good mechanic is like a good family doctor or a good barber, once you find one you dont let them go. They are very well informed, concise in how they relate to you and full of good common sense. I found a great mechanic at a place that I have been taking my Discovery to for over two years now, Discovery Automotive. I have had everything from head gaskets, exhaust manifold gaskets, O2 sensors, belts and cooling hoses replaced to the simple oil change and tire rotate. Dave may not always say what you want to hear, but, in my opinion, he tells you what he has to do to make your car or truck function correctly, drive safe and benefit you in expense and utility over the long term with the repair.Being a long standing customer there is much more than I can share in a simple review. However, one of my biggest dilemmas involved the seal at the crank shaft pulley which apparently had been damaged at the perimeter by a careless mechanic at a dealership in Vienna, VA. amidst their raping me for a complete overhaul of the engine. When I came to the Raleigh area another garage was unable to resolve the problem and insisted upon difficult repairs, finding the perfect part, a needle in the haystack ordeal according to them, and to a hefty fee as well, yet the oil spewed forth from my undercarriage.Now Im not so foolish as to believe that the holy grail of non-leakage will ever grace my path in the future, because Ive come to believe that if there is oil under it then there is oil in it according to one LR owner motto. However, I had a very straight forward discussion with a knowledgeable man named Dave who told me frankly what the problem was; the solution and he fixed it. I may be jinxing myself by talking about it, go out to my Disco having marked the driveway, but that is the nature of ownership and I would risk it to tell this story and share my opinion about what a wonderful garage I have found in Discovery Automotive.Dave as a doctor, Naw, hed probably want to refill with 40 weight instead of type A, and as a barber hed probably finish up the neck trim with the same 40 weight hair style, because that is not where his talent and skill resides. He is a mechanic and one of the very few mechanics you can trust, absolutely golden in my opinion. I moved from Rochester, NY to Raleigh about 8 months ago. I have tw cars. Volvo S60 and Honda Accord 2006 and 2005 respectively. For minor problems, I did not know where to go, so I googled and looked around closest places and called few of them. I ended up going to Discovery and I think I discovered the right place to get those problems resolved. The owner took care of those problems right away without any appointment and was very reasonable, fair and pleasant. He is so good that now I do not have to worry who to go to for future auto problems. He is dependable and trustworthy. He finishes the jobs on schedule. I highly recommend everyone to try him at least once and see the results. It is really seeing is believing.

I love these guys! My 2000 Discovery Series II has been serviced by Dave and Discovery Automotive since 2006. A part of me feels as though that its really his car more than mine. Dave is a Master Certified Technician by Land Rover, prices fairly, and incredibly transparent - he tells you exactly what needs to be done to keep your Rover rolling. Im not sure how they received so many positive reviews but my experience with the owner was absolutely terrible. I had my 2008 Mini Cooper towed there because there was no oil in my car (I had been in and out of town the last few weeks) and asked that he put some oil in it so I could at least drive it to get serviced at my usual dealership. The owner yelled at me telling me that if I had taken better care of the car I wouldnt have had to tow my car in the first place. EXTREMELY rude, ZERO manners and POOR customer service. I would never go back there again and I let him and his wife know that. His wife actually tried to defend him by saying he gets really upset about things like that. Seriously? Though this incident happened a few months ago (February maybe March), I havent forgotten about it. I hope the owner reads this and will think twice before he speaks to anyone like that again because I certainly will never take my car there and I wont recommend anyone I know to go there either. If I could give it zero stars, I would.***In response to the owner below, what you were explaining was not the issue. It was the manner in how it was explained that was the problem. Your tone was extremely disrespectful and if saying youre sorry it didnt work out is your way of apologizing, then I will continue to not recommend your establishment. The fact that you continue to update your response without any sort of apology is baffling. Although it is too late for that. The fact of the matter is sir, you know fully well you were rude to me, your wife stood there and said nothing and nothing you say will change that. Period. One word sums up their services, HONESTY. On time exceptional service.

I took my Range Rover Evoque over to Discovery Automotive after an engine light came on. The engine light was related to the fuel pressure regulator (P0089 and P008A). I requested an appointment online and I quickly got an answer from David via email saying that I could take my vehicle early morning the next day. After assessing what the problem was with the vehicle, David worked directly with the warranty folks to get the repairs underway. Tracey was able to sort me out with a loaner in no time and she called me promptly to let me know that my car was ready a day or so later.I think the work performed was great and so far I can notice how much nicer my RR runs. BTW, the job was to replace the fuel pump.I will be coming to Discovery in the future for my Oil Changes and regular maintenance from now on.JD.

I can not say enough about Discovery Automotive, Dave has been caring for my cars for years now. Dave takes the time to go over all repairs thoroughly with me, and if Im at his shop, he shows me any issues my car has. It use to be a pain going to the dealer to have my cars worked on, but now its not as big of a deal, knowing my cars are in good hands.

Expert staff. Friendly. Very conscientious. This is an extremely well run business.

My wifes Mini Cooper 2006 broke a serpentine belt and we were stranded in Cary, NC and did not want a towing bill on top of a repair because we reside in another county about 1 hour away and our usual automotive service provider is in Fayetteville. So, I read the reviews for this auto service and contacted them and they did the repair in a timely manner and I was able to motor home. Excellent service! I highly recommend this automotive repair service. Thanks, for the excellent infomation from the long time customers!

I dropped off my Land Rover at Discovery Automotive for the Early Bird Service. I checked the box on the form that read Call me and give an estimate before any work is performed. That same day, I received a call from Discovery Automotive, thinking it would be news of a quote. Instead, I received a call saying how much I owed. When I asked what had happened to the courtesy call; there was an excuse already lined up. Anyway, I then went to pick up my Land Rover. I walked in and confronted Dave, about the call I was supposed to get and, like the lady on the phone, continued with the excuses. Dave got very defensive and raised his voice during this dispute. The fact that he was so defensive led me to believe that he knew that he was in the wrong but his pride wouldnt let him admit it and make things right. It is a shame because in any good business, the customer is always right. I paid my tab and left; I could not spend one more second in this facility. A wise man once said I call it how I see it; I wont give you the title if you dont know how to be it. The title I would give this company is SHADY.

In my opinion - The worst mechanic experience ever. This guy does work on your car that you don’t ask him to do, then tries to charge you outrageous charges for the work. He orders parts you need from the dealer, tells you in your face that he’s not selling you parts, then marks the price up significantly. He didn’t even do the work I took it there for. Rather, outsources the work to another local business. AND asks you to pick up and take your car to them, then tells you to bring it back so he can charge you for some more unnecessary diagnostic test. This guy Dave is rude, disrespectful. Won’t ever go there again.
