I did have bubble on the right front tire. Vladimir provided an excellent customer service by taking care of the problem and additional oil change was done. Service was completed at awesome price. I would definitely recommend this place.

At first I was apprehensive in taking my car here due to some of the recent reviews but i ordered tires from tire rack and scheduled to have them installed here anyway. All that changed once I spoke to Linden who is articulate and has great management and customer service skills. This guy was so positive and professional that it changed my mind about being worried. Great experience....Linden was extremely nice. He helped me out in a quickie even tho I was just a walk in. I was a little nervous about my tires as I felt there were some changes going on with them. He was able to quickly assess what the issue was and gave me a great rate on my new tires.

I took my car to Pepboys in Carteret on Nov 4, 2021 and was greeted by Linden in the Service Dept. He was very polite, very informative and helped assist me with all my car issues. I was happy with the overall treatment and experience.

I had to get my winter vehicle in order, it was really running rough. I was hesitant in bringing my 1999 Ford Expedition into PepBoys because my go-to mobile mechanic wasn’t available and I’m quite skeptical of PepBoys. I read awful stuff in these reviews. But I gave it a shot despite others’ experiences. Made the appointment online.I first saw Barry in the Service Department. Due to circumstances beyond their control, they couldn’t get to my vehicle until later in the day.I returned after they had looked over it. Linden went over my options and expressed how he wanted to help me. He knew this vehicle meant a lot to me. I knew repairs would be costly— Linden went above and beyond. The technician (Stan B) had the vehicle sorted out to his satisfaction but definitely way exceeded my expectations.I didn’t get “hustled”— a lot of these experiences I’ve read seemed as if PepBoys were out there to get them. I felt very welcomed and I felt very comfortable with the overall service, repairs, time to do it, and staff!By the way, waiting area is very clean and sanitary.

My wife had a flat tire this morning on the Turnpike (back rear tire), she called a tow truck to come to replace her tire with her spare, instead they told her that they have to tow her to Pep Boys in Carteret. (From reading other reviews it seems that this tow company and Pep Boys are in cahoots) When she arrived instead of just putting her spare on and allowing her to go to work, they told her she needs a new tire, fine, then they tell her that she needs to also replace the front tire because as soon as she pulls out she will have a blowout, essentially scaring her. Then they proceed to tell her that she should replace all 4 tires because the other two were bald. She has a 2019 vehicle with less than 25,000 miles and I know for a fact that her tires were perfectly fine. They took advantage of a woman that was over 40 miles from work, scared and bullied her into purchasing 4 new tires. I would never recommend this place and think they are disgusting for taking advantage of a woman that has no idea about cars or tires.

Linden was great. I went in to figure out what was going on with my tires and left with new tires. Linden went above and beyond and he made me feel comfortable spending money that I had no plans on spending . Thank you for your great service.

Everytime i come here very unorganized make an appointment 3 hour wait time... the time before that first time no oil filter then they didnt have my oil grade this is crazy i would go somewhere else but its a company vehicle....

Top Notch and First Class all the Way. So I am a Pennsylvania resident that broke down on the NJ Turnpike. Tow Service took me here. The Biggest problem was I arrived 5 minutes before they closed. I explained my dilemma. The Assistant Service manager Vlad ask the Mechanic if he could help me out. Well Stan the Mechanic on duty to my surprise agreed. They had the part and he took the time (didnt rush it)and fixed it. Even tested it to make sure I would return to PA safe. Great crew and service in a time when the world and the respect for others have been lost. These Gentleman certain restore faith in Humanity!

Another horrible experience at pep boys in carteret. Have a nail in my tire, the service guy tells me he can’t plug the tire. The tires are worn and I need 4 new tires. Beware they are trying really hard to push and sell tires. They must of had over a 100 tires stacked in front of the bays from tires they changed. I just purchased my car used from a dealership, and the car went through a 50 point inspection before I was able to purchase the car and on the report the tires were inspected. Unfortunately I try and love to support all local businesses, but this pep boys I will no longer support and I encourage you to do your homework and shop around before spending and of your hard earned money at this businessrepeat unhappy customer that learned his lesson

I went in to get new tires and a wheel alignments had made an appointment for 4PM and was there until 6:30pm, had other customers come in after me without an appointment and they were helped and finished before I was, after i received my car back the tire light came on and I couldnt even say anything because they were closing when I got home and checked the tire pressure just to find the two front tires at 50 PSI and the rear tires at 40 PSI after I adjust the tire pressure back to normal at 32 PSI the light still wont go out I will try to go back to see if they damaged a sensor or something but not a very good experience stay away from this place.

This was my first time visiting pep boys after 15+ years living in carteret. I was being taking care by a gentleman name Barry. I was a bit worry about this place but, Barry was extremely helpful. He made me feel comfortable, he knew exactly what he was doing and extremely professional. If I ever visit pep boys in the future, Barry will be my no.1 guy. If 10* was an option I will rate Barry 10*. Lots of employees working, only a few willing to help customers. I walked out after not being rung up timely. I didnt even need help, just wanted to pay. 15 minutes in line is not acceptable and I have options so I will not wait.

I drop off 10:30 they tell me was be ready for 1pm I got there at 1pm they make me wait to 2:45pm that the time they going take in the car for work they make me lost my day work .....

Do not go to this location. They will try to hustle you into more work and lie to you about your warranty to make you pay for things youre covered for. Vladimir is the name of the service person that kept trying to hustle me. I took two of my cars there paid about $800 each time for new tires and new batteries but never again. Call around other pep boys and check pricing before you give them your money. And if they tell you your warranty is up aak for a copy of the receipt to verify!!!

Ive been going to pep-boys for 4 days to have my car checked. I left my car early in the morning each time, but my car was never checked. It was a terrible experience for me.

Whenever I have an issue with my Jeep, I come here and see Vlad. He always goes the extra mile for me and makes sure I understand everything. Most people want to just sell... Ive dealt with him a few times before and I see why hes the Manager, he is polite, accommodating and talks to his employees with respect. Went in to fix head light, they were friendly and straight foward so I ended up buying a back wiper for my Nissan which the staff immediately offered to put on for me. The mechanic was nice enough to check my tire pressure without me asking and that turned off my check engine light. I was so grateful. I live in Linden but I most likely will be coming back to this location in Carteret. Oh! and had a good enough cup of coffee while I waited. Wish I got staff names.

My service tire specialists, Vladimir and Clinton went above and beyond to accommodate my needs as I had almost given up due to the run around from stores closer to my home. There were a particular set of tires needed for my car I called up scheduled an appointment as he checked to ensure he would have them available and the time to install. I ended up getting a great deal and service. I will return and recommend this location above others. The location is in a mall area with Burger King, Shoprite and DollarTree so you have time to get other errands done if needed unlike sitting around some shops. The rest of the staff is friendly and welcoming. Thank you for an amazing experience!

Its a hit or miss. For simple repairs I always pay them a visit. Oil changes and other things I visit my dealer. Well stocked store, friendly but Auto service could be slow. I only visit for tire rotations and have never had an issue.

Some of their employees are very unprofessional but there is a young guy named Donald who is very helpful.. just went to ask if the light bulbs i was buying were comparable to the old ones i had with me. He went beyond just saying yes, he made sure that the part number was the same according to my make and model. Took the time to make sure i was buying the right ones, and advised on other ones i could get for better quality.. very impressed with Donald and his customer service.

Came with a flat tire and it took nearly 4 hours to repair. I left got food ate at location came back and they still were done. A guy name Vladimir kept saying it was almost done but in reality they didnt even start yet. That was very annoying. I walked into the garage and saw my car on the mount just sitting there. How rude of them to come back say just a few more minutes its almost ready. I was so upset but my primary focus was getting home. I didnt give a one start because they eventually fixed it. I also couldnt leave and go somewhere else because they made me pay in advance because he said his manager wanted to go home. Smh

Telephone service was amazing, they took the time to explain everything to me in detail. Angelic and Ravon were amazing and patient with me. The products are always what is expected. Only problem I had was with their credit card, as their systems are down and synchrony customer service is inept and unacceptable... Go to pepboys, use their products, do not use their credit card.

This is my dads go-to place for anything car related. Whether its a specific thing that he needs, or a general question about anything, he knows that he can always step in for some help. Absolutely disappointed. I went Sunday 5/19 to get AC checked out since it wasn’t blowing hot air. Dropped off at 1pm. It was 6pm when I walked back to Pepboys to get car back since I hadn’t received a call. I walk in and car had not been checked. Vladimir then takes car and has it diagnosed. Tells me “it’s emissions. Come back Tuesday at 6p”. I come back Tuesday 5/21 but arrived late due to traffic. Since it was 7 by the time I arrived they said they didn’t have time to fix issue but to return Friday 5/24 at 1pm. I told Vladimir I worked but that I would have my brother drop off the car for me. My brother shows promptly at 1pm. It was 7pm and I still hadn’t received a call. I call at 7:11pm and am left on hold. Vladimir left at 6pm. My car wasn’t checked or fixed... I then speak to Tyler who tries to rectify the situation. He tells me he will call me back In 20 minutes. He calls me in less than 20 minutes to tell me that in order to fix the situation they need the car for more than 30 minutes...... mind you- car was there since 1pm! I cannot blame Tyler because he tried to help by fixing it the next day but that would mean leaving my car overnight and not having a way to get to or from work Saturday. I am extremely frustrated since, as I expressed SEVERAL TIMES, the coming days were to be very hot and I didn’t want to be stuck in any Memorial Day traffic in a hot car.I’ve been coming here for years to do my oil change. I will never come back. And had it just been a dispute about something minor, I wouldn’t have written a review. However, I was there THREE times this week, to fix an AC SENSOR and have left my car there TWICE for 6+ hours and the only time it’s been checked on is when I call or walk in and the car all of a sudden needs to be “diagnosed” again. A repair order was never even written up for me ANY of the times that I have walked in since Sunday. Diagnoses just being done with no paper trail. Seems suspicious but OKAY.Was it the fact that I am a woman that they feel it’s OK to brush off repairs for my car? Or the fact that I’m Hispanic that I received basically NO HELP in getting this job done.

I scheduled and appointment for 2 pm oil change and got there at 5 minutes after 2. when I turned in my key and waited, it was 2:45 and they had still not started on the vehicle. The person I scheduled with on the phone told me that the process would take about 45 minutes, which would have worked out well since I had a nearby appointment at 3, but I had to rush out without getting the oil changed I needed because I would be late for my 3 pm appointment. The car had not even been moved to the garage by the time I had left, and there was no sign that they would get to it anytime soon. A simple process scheduled in advance should not over twice as long as what I am told it would take, I would have been better off driving to a different location.

This store did a VERY GOOD JOB on my vehicle including telling me or recalls. Thank You Guys.

Blammed the customer saying it was my fault the battery died. Poor customer experience Battery was two months old. AAA tested and said it was a bad battery. Customers beware. Employees dont know how to deal with customers. It a shame.

Took car for an alignment check at Rossell pepboys. The steering wheel was clearly to the right. Got the car back and they said it all aligned fine. I asked why would the wheel be to the right then and they had no idea. Took it to another pepboys in union they said it was clearly out of spec and they would fix it so I got lifetime alignment. They told me the reason my steering wheel was out was the rear axel and they couldnt adjust it. Went to dealer since my rear axle is under warranty and they told me it was an alignment issue. Brought it to a third pepboys in Carteret to try to fix this again. They said clearly it was still out of spec in the front and they must not have adjust it right. When I got it back the steering wheel was straight. Less than one whole day later my steering wheel is now to the left. Clearly they didnt tighten the tie rods down all the way. WTF. I am done with Pepboys completely incompetent at alignments.

This pep boys doesnt care about you or your time. Dropped off my wifes car for service they told us itd be ready in an hour. Went back 2.5 hrs later and they hadnt even started it. Then when it was done they never called. We showed up and they told it had be done for a while. Decided to give them another chance. I needed 4 tires set an apt for 6pm online as it was the earliest. I get there at 5 and drop the car off the guy tells me the tires werent there yet but would definitely be there by 6 and car would be ready at 730. I walk the mile home and the ride my bike up at 730 and they hadnt even pulled it in yet. If you value your time go somewhere else.

I needed a new battery and help installing it and the one guy Derek was very helpful.... he came out and installed it for me replacing my bad one for free. Very very nice customer service!

Needed to change Headlight on my Audi Q7 The guys told me it might take 1 hour had it done in fifteen min. Jose was very friendly and helpful even checked my tire pressure. Mack and Orlando are always willing to help. Great group working at this location with lots of happy smiles too.

I will never come here again, these guys do not know what they are doing!! FIRST I made an appointment online, came in and Vladimir told me I shouldve called or I can stay for 2 hours and I left and came back In and said forget it ill wait then he said some bs excuse, saying only one mechanic, everyday I hear him saying one mechanic what do you guys do??? depend on 1 person for a lot of people???!!. THEN he said I put you in for tomorrow dont worry, came in the next day right after work had me wait for 3 hours !! for a tire change, ONLY ONE TIRE! I kept looking through the glass my car was untouched! left my car on the side with my wheel on the side taking other cars as they came I waited 3 hours!!! for nothing ! and then told me they couldnt patch my tire because it had bubbles, but my tire is rock solid with hair so they tried to tell me I need a new tire! Took my keys told them I waited here 3 hours for 1 tire, Orlando said yea I saw you waiting here, then he said you sure you want to leave hes half way through your tire..... MY WHEEL WAS ON THE FLOOR NOT TOUCHED AT ALL! 3 hours and couldnt change my tire, ONE tire. Not coming here again, they dont care about you or your time NEVER AGAIN STAY AWAY very unprofessional.

My mother in law broke down on the New Jersey turnpike and they brought her car here for repairs. They diagnosed the problem as fuel pump and quoted the repair as $2,100. On my mother in laws complaints they decided to discount it to $1,800. Youre looking at this on google.Look up fuel pump for 2011 subaru impreza sport in google shopping. Thats what i did while discussing it with the pep boys customer service rep on the phone. I then asked if labor for this job was $1,000 as the part costs $700 new, at the most expensive seller on google shopping. To which i was informed this was the pricing and I could talk to the manager if I wanted but they cant change that price beyond the initial discount. I dont blame the customer service rep or the manager for pricing, but that was outragous. Come on pep boys, you can surely do better.End to the story. New part from Richard Lukas subaru was out the door at $750 not $1,800 or $2,100.

I had a schedule appointment for 4 p.m. I got there at 4:20, due to a meeting that ran late. I was with my two year old son after being there about 15 minutes, I was told that the technician was tied up all day and he wont be able to look at my car. Considering I had appointment it would have been nice if they had call me to schedule a new appointment. I dont think that was the case, I think after they saw me they just didnt want to provide service to me.

Started out with a simple oil change, and was offered a tire rotation. Well it seems like every time I visit pep boys the men working in garage seems to break something that needs to be repaired . One of the managersOrlando took care of me. I left satisfied but I dont understand why they have workers who dont know what they are doing ?

Bad experience they told $450 To change 2 tires and wheel alignment, my van needed front end parts so they were unable to do a wheel alignment, they estimated my bill to be $2500 if I do the job with them I said no then asked how much just to change the 2 tires he said $430 I remind him the bill was $450 with alignment and if Im not doing the alignment it should be less he said ok $400 this was over the phone he reminds me at least 4 time you wont have the warrantee if u dont do the work here I said ok - got to the store and ask for the manager the clerk got upset oh you did agree to the price I said yes to $450 with alignment so I asked him to explain the charges hes adding $55 labor to change each tire I told him its ridiculous just let me see the manager he got more upset and went to the back the manager still didnt come out but he came with a bill for $350 No explanation, I paid and.say thank you he didnt respond.

I went to pepboys for new windshield wipers and a nice gentleman named cris assisted me with not only giving me the right size but installing them on my car for me. He was very respectful and his customer service was amazing.

Spoke with Gabriel about installing catalytic converter. He told me wha i ad bought was the wrong piece. I re-ordered the correct piece based on the correct item he gave me. Total was $200. I get there with the new piece and another guy named Orlando says its $300, why did it go up $100?? I proceed with $300, Orlando says to leave the car so that they can work on it (11:00am on Saturday). Called me the next day (Sunday) at 3:00pm to pick up the car because Gabriel did not approved any work on my car until a specific technician got there the following Tuesday. I go pick up the car and they just gave me back the keys without any explanation of next steps! a complete wasted of my entire weekend without a car and an immense lack of respect for the customer. Ill be taking my business elsewhere. Very irresponsible and lazy group of employees. DONT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE!

Was passing through from out of state when my car had a problem with the fuel pump, which it luckily decided to have while parked in this mall. The Pep Boys staff came out and pushed my car to their shop, and, knowing that we were in the middle of a multi state journey, did their best to get it fixed before the end of the day. Everything was taken care of and I was able to complete my trip without any further problems.

A young man named Ravon was absolutely helpful, amazing service and he gets you exactly what you need, always going to him from here on, if you go to this location just ask for “Ravon” and he will not waste your time

Made an appointment for an oil change and have the TPMS serviced on my Jeep on Sat morning. I knew I needed new tires but it wasnt in my budget to have them replaced yet. After a full vehicle inspection Walter pointed out what I needed serviced which included new tires! He explained my options (buy 3, get 1 free tires, discount on oil change) and did his best to get my invoice within my budget, called me a Lyft to get me home and promised to have my car ready by the afternoon. Truck was ready early afternoon as promised and Vlad went over the invoice with me before I paid the bill. Walter and Vlad were very helpful, I feel confident in the quality of the work and most of all I dont feel like I overpaid or was sold any unnecessary services . Nice job Pep Boys Carteret! Would definitely recommend this location for service.

Had difficulties with our A/C while on a trip. Everyone here was super helpful and understanding of our lack of knowledge about cars. Derek helped us out and allowed us to recognize the problems. Next time we face car troubles nearby, we will be sure to come back!

So last week I told my best friend I would pick him and his son up from the airport, shortly after leaving the airport the car shorts out, fortunately without any steering I get off the turnpike Carteret right in front of ones. Vladimir was the service manager on duty, I proceeded to tell him that recently I had a bunch of work done on the car Pep Boys has, but I dont know if this is the same issue. Vladimir was extremely kind and willing help me. Still in my soup from work stranded with my friend and his son Vladimir said dont worry we partner with lyft I will send you three up with a ride home, I will reach out to Hazlet get your service order, and you will only pay us for anything newly damaged. A few hours later Vladimir calls me to inform me the car is done and that I owe nothing because it was warrantied by the service I just had in Hazlet. Vladimir could have easily ripped me off, not offered to call Hazlet, and never told myself my friend and his son that they partner with Lyft and give us a ride home. He 100% did the complete opposite going above and beyond for me making what was seemingly to become a terrible day by turning it into a seamless and salvageable good day still with very little inconvenience. I always liked this pep boys in Carteret, seems i always get Gadimere (hope I spelled correctly) always helpful and professional. I will be moving out of state soon and will miss this place.

I phoned the Store and asked about a testing service for the coolant system, they said it was available. I brought the car over and they checked it out and it was determined the car needed more repair than the scope of which they perform there at Pep Boys, most likely a head job or a crack in the block, which they would only have to send out for milling. not only were Mac and the crew professional, neat clean, courteous, and informative, I believe based on the apparent amount of parts and labor I would be inevitably be facing,(possibly even a new motor) they waved the inspection fee. What a blessing they were to me. The have helped me with parts and information in the past, but this time they have outdone themselves. Thank You Pep Boys, some how they managed to make me whole!
