The staff here are insanely rude. i’m literally sitting here watching the woman put every single call on hold when there isn’t even a single customer in the store. i have spent more time on hold than any of the staff have spent helping their customers. The website didn’t state a remodel so i was very surprised when an extremely rude man told me to throw my donation boxes in the trash because “obviously the showroom is closed.”
I love this place!! I dont know how all the negative reviews happened, I just know Ive never had a bad experience here and Ive been using this store for about 15 years.... Moves with trucks one way (for my daughter and then my granddaughter), used them to move away in 2000 and to move back in 2006. I lived down the street for a while and have walked in for boxes etc and found such nice options. Not just boxes but moving kits. The customer service here has always been excellent. I appreciate all of the staff so much!!

Organizing around our home usually means manyyy bags or large items being donated to a local charity or a dump run - how many of you can relate?? What better way to be able to get everything done then renting an open trailer or truck from our local U-Haul for the day.With our hitch already installed on our truck, we contact our local U-Haul store as we are in the system. Secure our reservation for the utility trailer that well need, usually the 6 x 12 Utility Trailer with Ramp which makes our life easier to load everything costing $34.95 +taxes. Contract is straightforward: cost, liability and return policy. Theres also an online option for reserving but we found it easier to contact the store directly that way know exactly whats on-hand that day.When we arrive we check in, present credit card to hold U-Haul, go over the contract then head outside to attach the trailer and staff does a safety check before we leave the lot - LOVE THAT! Usually get in and out fairly quickly depending on how busy they are with out a hitch (pun intended) We found staff here to be helpful and friendly each time we have come. When we return the utility trailer same thing, staff looks it over for any damage, go inside office to go over everything and credit card is charged for the time we have had it - SIMPLE & EASY!!Sometimes their inventory may be low but thats okay for us, we can opt for another size, try another location or wait for another day. Definitely understand frustration if not being able to have those options. For us weve been happy with service, renting here and WE will be back again for the next Spring cleaning, donation/dump run or NEW furniture purchase - Thanks U-Haul!!
Worst location Ive ever been to, the staff is obnoxious and disrespectful. Recommend anyone find a different place to rent your moving needs. Would give out 0 stars if i could.

They are fine for local rentals, but Ive had better experiences elsewhere. The transaction that killed my satisfaction with U-Haul was when I booked a one-way trailer rental. The day before I was supposed to pick it up I was notified the reservation was cancelled because of a shortage of trailers in the west coast. My trip was from Carson City to Las Vegas, so that would still be keeping the trailer within the region given. But more importantly, why did they let me make the reservation in the first place if they dont want me to take it one-way? And more frustrating, why did they cancel with only one day to come up with an alternative?
Everyone here at the Carson City U-Haul work very well together. I am so impressed. I have seen the bad reviews so I made my reservation for and hour sooner than needed. The good part of that is, I was in no rush. Everyone was so great, so relaxed and so in sync with each other, I was out of the with a 12-foot trailer in about 15 minutes. When I returned it, I just went in feeling relaxed and in no rush. The guy was finishing cleaning the truck that was just turned in. He let me know he would get to me next and I told him I was in no rush. Five minutes later he gave me his full attention. He was so pleasant and relaxed and helpful. The winds made a mess of the trailer bed and he said no problem. So there was no cleaning charge. The computer over charged from what I was expecting to pay so I had to wait in line for a clerk. He was helping another customer outside, so I headed in. It was about five minutes before the clerk returned. Slowly a few more people came in. We had some pretty nice conversaton while the clerk helped the first one waiting. A few minutes later it was my turn. I was telling the clerk how impressed I am with everyone here and the service. I said I was worried because Id read some pretty bad reviews. He very kindly said, You know, moving is one of the most stressful times, so we do our best to be understanding of that when they are stressed. He said, If a customer is late returning a vehicle that someone else is expecting to check out, we have no control over that, but we do our best to make things work. I said I was impressed with the everyone working there communicates with each other and he said the best thing you want hear at a place that has everyone focused on customer service. He said, I really ;like the people I work with. I enjoy coming to work. Everyone feels the same way. So, the lesson I learned is, the negative reviews come from people in a rush or on a tight timeline. They are not bad people. They are people feeling a lot of stress. When coming to rental store i is good to plan on being there for awhile. I set the rental up for an hour before I needed it. That had me much more relaxed and able to roll with the flow. So, I was relaxed and I found the staff that i interacted with were enjoy the pleasantries and lack of stress from me. I was in and out in about 15 minutes. I just kept letting the employees do their job and let them know I was in no rush. It was some of the best customer service there that I have seen in awhile. If you can go in relaxed and not rushed, you will find a pleasant experience with a kind and curteous staff. By the way, the equipment wqs in great shape also. This is a great group of professionals who clearly care about their work. And no, I am not related to anyone there, nor do I know any of them. I was just solidly impressed!
Joe had great customer service and was very pleasant. This Uhaul gets bad reviews, but I have dealt with them several times through the years and it has always been good service to me.
The worst company ever to rent a truck from. Reservations mean little to them. They leave you out to hang and dry. Reserved 2 months out with a guarantee the truck would be there, It was not. 2 times now the same situation . Rent from Penske, they will guarantee the truck will be there and they understand what the word reservation means. Do not use U-haul for anything otherwise you will be in a NO-Haul situation.

I showed up on time for my reservation on time and it took them over two hours to get my trailer, and then when I returned it within the 24 hour period they attempted to charge me the price of 2 days, this is the most incompetently run business I have ever experienced, and they are scams artists, AVOID THIS LOCATION AT ALL COSTS!!!
Didnt have the trailer we reserved or any viable alternate equipment. Only option offered was to reschedule several days later or have us drive 3 hours each way to Winnemucca to get a trailer there.
Pulled in for propane for my rv and waited and waited and waited customer service here is horrible people seemed nice just understaffed go somewhere else if you need propane I will say the girl working here needs a raise she was sprinting from spot to spot trying to keep up for crying out loud get her some help
Reserved a truck yesterday, went to pick it up today only to find I could not have it unless I was doing a one-way rental. Huh? I completed an accurate reservation on-line and have an email confirmation. Im not a happy customer.
I cant believe all the negative reviews for this place. We spent at the most 20 minutes and prices were quite reasonable. We had scheduled a truck ahead of time and it was there waiting for us. Friendly staff and very helpful. Thank you!
I had a 10 oclock apt for a tow hitch install. Got there at 9:40. They didnt take my car back till 10:40, and then didnt finish until 1:10pm. The entire time we sat and waited, the two ladies in front did not acknowledge us or let us know what was going on. They were rude to customers, often not even in the store therefore making customers come in and wonder if anyone even worked there. 3 different times customers asked US if anyone was even there to help them. At one point a woman was waiting and an employee came in and grabbed something, completely ignored the customer and said into a walkie that she needed someone inside for a customer. The customer just stood there flabbergasted that she was not even acknowledged. Finally around 1pm the store manager(who had passed us like we didnt exist at least 30 different times) came and told us there had been some issues which is why it took so long. This is something they should have kept us up to date on instead of leaving us waiting with no idea whats going on. The young man who did the actual job was the only one who apologized for the wait and treated us like humans. We felt bad for him as he told the manager he needed more help and couldnt do EVERYTHING, and the manager just ignored him and did not even respond. We will never return here! Not to mention not one of them were wearing masks and it is mandatory right now!!
Bad experience. People here just dont care about anyone and are rude to boot. Theyll also toss your property into the dumpster if you accidentally leave anything at all with no wait time.
Wish i could go lower, but i drove from tahoe 2 days in the row to find out they couldnt do it because my car is too new. So no call just tell me when i get there lol. Waste of time and money, i wouldnt go there if they were the last uhaul on earth ill curry my things on my back.
Im surprised to see all the negative reviews here. I honestly didnt read them until this evening, after picking up a truck for the third time here. My son and I have chosen this place because its a real U-Haul store (not a store that also rents U-Haul trucks) and they have so many trucks on their lot, weve never had any trouble getting the size truck we wanted. The staff is very good, very businesslike, friendly, and knows their job well. The last two times, Killiary has helped us and has delivered top-notch excellent service. We havent gotten any additional services, so I cannot comment on that, but we are very satisfied with the excellent service weve received in picking up and delivering the trucks back. Two thumbs up for us!

The staff are polite and friendly (only reason they got two stars). They are disorganized and lack proper leadership. They run the store like their hangout in front of customers. Eating at the front desk, four or five gathered watching one person work while customers are waiting for help and using language that is not appropriate (not Foul language but just remarks better suited for behind closed doors).
Terrible customer service. We made an appointment to get a hitch put on my car last week (and pre-paid for it). Shortly after dropping off the car we got a call saying they didn’t have the hitch. I had to keep asking questions to the young boy working there to figure out what was going on. They offered no reason or resolution to the problem. Incredibly unprofessional & disappointing. Taking the car somewhere else. Will never use U-Haul after this experience
This place has always been dubious. Slow service, unqualified staff, but they did have cheap LPG. Not anymore, jacked the price to $3.09 a gallon for LPG. No longer worth the trouble. Get your LPG and proper customer service elsewhere.

While I was down in Nevada I need to come in and rent a truck with a buddy to help him move a few things. The guy who helped us was very kind and helpful. He went out of his way to make sure everything was perfect before we left and when we returned. Steven Moyer could not have been anymore helpful then he was! Great guy with a even better attitude towards his job! Ill be sure to return if I ever need a truck again!
My entire U-Box experience has been poor from start to finish. First, the location where I picked up the box (Fremont St., Las Vegas) did not have it ready on time. Then when it came time for me to have my box delivered to my new home, turns out you have to give them two weeks’ notice for a delivery within the same state, which they don’t tell you. It was incredibly frustrating not being able to schedule an exact delivery date so I could plan my move and do things like reserve moving help. Not only that, but U-Haul advertises U-boxes are “delivered to your door” but that’s false. The box is shipped to the nearest U-Haul facility and you have to go there and tow the box to your house yourself, which costs extra money to rent a truck if you need one and is very misleading from the service advertised. The icing on the cake of my experience is at the second U-Haul facility where I picked up my box (Carson City), they loaded it onto the trailer backwards. This means that the flap on the cover that’s supposed to align with the box door was actually on the opposite side so we had to shimmy the whole cover off, and we couldn’t open the box door all the way because the trailer was in the way. Truly next-level incompetence from start to finish. I will be telling all my friends not to use U-Box for their storage and moving needs.
Rented a minivan from here for picking up my furniture for my newly rented apartment in Carson. They are friendly and quick in processing and handing over the keys. The return took more time due to a thorough inspection by the guy present.
Rented a 24 foot truck on 9/6 and returned 9/7. I drove it exactly 89 miles and when I filled it up it required 31 gallons of gas. So I guess I get 3 miles per gallon?It obviously wasnt filled when they gave it to me. My husband estimated it should get 8 miles per gallon and I should of had to purchase 11 gallons of gas - it needed 31 gallons of gas so I spent an extra $56 in gas!!!!
Not honest at this location. Charged me $14+ Extra for gas after I put a gallon in myself and only went 13 miles total. Beware.
Im surprised by all the negative reviews. To be clear Ive ONLY rented trucks and trailers here and have never bought LPG or had anything installed. Each time Ive pretty much walked in, waited a few minutes for help, checked out, waited a few minutes for hook up, and been on my way. Counter and hook up folks are quick and friendly. Any reservation issues fall squarely on UHAUL Corporation itself and not this franchise. The logistics of having thousands of pieces of equipment at thousands of locations across the country serving a million customers is a nightmare. I think over the last decade Uhaul has gotten much, much better at accepting reservations they can actually keep! This location is nice because its HUGE and always staffed. Try getting equipment from the smaller locations and its much worse.Negatives include how busy the parking lot can be at certain times of the day and people who dont know how to navigate the lot
If I could give minus stars I would! This awful place held our money for 2 weeks then when we went in for our scheduled appointment they had no time to do it! I am soooooooo mad. Its run by a bunch of incompetent kids that dont know anything about running a business. I would NEVER REFER THIS PLACE TO ANYONE ! 😤😡🤬
I had rented a car dolly that a friendly staff member helped securely mount to my automobile .Salty folks seem to have spitefully placed low star reviews based on subjective feelings . I was helped from start to finish swiftly and respectfully by this U-haul team !
I reserved a 5x10 storage unit at this location. I stood at the counter for 45 minutes while the associate walked back and forth from various storage units only to tell me that he could not allow me to move in to any of the 5 avalible units. All of my belongings had already arived to this location and were waiting to be loaded into the storage unit I had reserved. I asked if then he would upgrade me to a larger unit for my trouble and I was told there was simply nothing they could do and I would need to take my business elseware. Very disapointing.
Unbelievable lack of communication and professionalism. Reserved a haul-a-way on line. Had the confirmation call and even reconfirmed the appointment for 10oclock the morning I needed it .Went to the store at noon, was told they had my reservation but had no haulaway available. Didnt even know where they could get one. I asked why when I had already talked to someone about this reservation the day before they had no clue what I was talking about. Answer: you probably shouldve gotten the name of the guy you were talking to . just cancelled the whole deal . in the end the best layed plans gone south because someone couldnt be expected to do their job .
I was recently just their, and was verry surprised at the level of customer service I recived. Yes it did take a min on the wait but theirs only three guys and more customers. But I was happy leaving, their trailer guy whos excellent on the tow lights helpd me a lot. He spent 15-20 min wiring it up and solving some issues..will keep coming back! Oh and FYI use a master card or visa and you dont have to put down a deposit on rentals..single charge no extras.

Went to the uhaul on Williams St in Carson City this morning to have a tow hitch installed... HUGE mistake. Appointment was for 11 AM for a 1 hour job. 3 hours later I got my vehicle back, only to have to return because other wires had been disconnected. Very disappointed and will not deal with them again, manager was not much help to me, or to the gentleman waiting for the same installation. My next vehicle will be purchased with the tow kit already included. Lesson learned.
The absolute worst! Drove in from out of town TWICE (had an appt both times) and both times they were unable to do the job. The employees are both rude and clueless. Never have I experienced such ineptitude. Dont expect much from these morons...
I reserved a 26 truck on June 26th for July 21st rental. I received a call on July 20th at 5:00pm advising me the 26 truck was returned earlier that day with damage and they could not rent it to me. They only had a 15 truck available at the time I needed it. I had movers ready to go at 7:30 am on the 21st and the plan was to make one trip (20 miles) and be done. The 15 rental required 2 trips resulting in almost 40 miles. What really pissed me off was the phone call at 5:00pm which left me no option to find another provider and 26 truck. The traffic coordinator said there was a 26 truck available at another location (which didnt open until 10:00am) or Reno, NV (35 miles north) both completely unacceptable solutions. To add fuel to my fire, my mover said this was exactly what happened to him the last time he rented from U-Haul in Carson City. Sent emails to GM but no reply. They dont care, their fleet is marginal and they tell you to file a complaint and give no compensation. Go to Penske!!
Waited in line for over an hour and a half to get a storage locker for which I had a reservation. And then they did not have my storage locker available. Attendant had considerable issues using sysyem.
I used to come to this store quite often but ended up buying my own trailer. I still do rent the pick ups and vans once in a blue moon. I seen some new faces the other day. The fella at the counter steven miyer was super. Finally someone who was great at helping get me get a reservation and very informative just everything. Even helped carry my boxes to my car. All while being enthusiastic smile on his face told me to have a wonderful day. He walked inside and turned around and shot out the door to greet a truck pulling in to return. Have not seen that in some time. That young man was fantastic. Thank you steven- and CC U Haul. He made my day and i will definitely be back to see him when i need something. I left the same text on the u haul page. That one was a bit harder,

Just went in to get a propane tank filled. Only one of the three staff on hand was qualified to help me. However, she was on a personal phone call and informed me she wouldnt be able to help me for a half hour. Dont waste your time. Just go to cal ranch.
Usually just go here for propane. Staff is almost always friendly, however they are often busy with other customers, so service can take longer than expected.

I tried to call the Carson City Store to ask about putting on a trailer hitch. I didn’t want to drive the 35 miles if they could not do it. After a 7 minute hold that was answered by some rude national operator I was hung-up on when I asked about a number for the Carson City Store.
