Firefly Beads is awesome! They have a wonderfully large supply of bead findings and unusual beads! The owner and staff is very helpful. It is definitely my go to for cool beads! I love the sand dollar beads and the sacred heart beads! Thank you for having a keen eye for the beautiful and unusual! Fun, affordable, and my what an adventure!

Outstanding experience at Firefly Beads! We were trying to create a custom necklace piece. Melanie went out of her way to assist us. She made size and design suggestions which greatly added to the beauty and practicality of the necklace. She is very knowledgeable and she was a huge help. Her stringing work was exceptional. We were delighted. The selection of beads in the store was excellent. What a gift to our community to have a company that puts the customer’s needs first. The necklace order was finished quickly. We are receiving so many compliments on it. Hats off and well done Firefly!

I had 2 necklaces with broken cords that I wanted replaced and I saw firefly. There was a bit of confusion about the price of labor but after talking to the owner, who was very kind and understanding, we cleared things up. The owner was great and resolved my issues perfectly. Would shop again as the customer service was excellent.

I didnt expect the chains I bought to break, but they did. What surprised me was the high markup on the jewelry, with relatively low price on the materials (with the exception of clasps, charms, and jump rings :/) I am not a fan, to say the least. I really wanted to love this store, as I run a popular beading blog, but the selection was sad and the decor was, well, tacky. Carrboro deserves better. I hope they dont use their materials to make the jewelry in store? Because, um, ouch. Prepare for breakage, like a kardashians hair at the Grammys. Also, I asked if they could prepare a watch once? Lady said she couldnt and, well, wouldnt. Seriously uncapable and embarrassing. Not to mention, the employee who helped me (lol) even told me the boss treats her employees terribly. Talk about embarassing!

Horrified by the lack of craftsmanship in the jewelry here and regret spending my money on pieces that break shortly after. I do NOT want to return for store credit, I simply want my money back! And no, I would not like the same people who created the faulty jewelry to try repairing it as it should have been correct the first time. This has occurred multiple times. I am assuming whomever makes the “in house” jewelry learned from YouTube as it is very amateur hour. The older woman with the dark long hair seems to have an attitude every single time I walk in- disturbing and inappropriate for a retail setting. I am clueless as to whom thought it wise to offer her the position. Most of the materials are doubled, if not tripled in price from what you can get online or in the competition bead store in Durham. Prepare for disappointment. I expect this shop to go out of business (for a second time I believe!) in the near future if major changes are not implemented.Edit: I see others have had similar complaints. Wishing whomever manages the shop would take into consideration so we are not talking to a wall.

Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Came here to get a price estimate for a jewelry repair. Had gone to another store in the area previously, and was given an estimate of 40 dollars and 2 weeks for the repair, which seemed ridiculous given the small nature of the job. Came to Firefly, and they did the repair within 5 minutes for under 5 dollars, and they did it perfectly!

I came into firefly looking for something for my girlfriend, and it definitely took a lot of searching. The prices aren’t TERRIBLE but theyre not good compared to, say, Lightyears and the quality is better at Sophia’s. What set me off was the way one employee, a tall, slightly overweight, Asian woman was speaking to customers near me. Consistent rude remarks. Despite the distaste, I bought some resin earrings and left. The first time my girlfriend tried them they fell off and smashed instantly. I would bring them back, but as it turns out there’s a no-returns policy unless you want store credit. Not coming here again.Edit in reply:I have to say your response is very indicative of a business disinterested in customer feedback. There is nothing racist in describing someones skin tone unless used as some kind of reason for their behaviour which it was not. As my greatest concern regarding your business was poor customer treatment, I felt no confidence in addressing my concerns at the time as it felt clear to me that I would be shown the same level of disdain.Mentioning the size your business is merely a lazy way of deflecting from my issue, and a poor attitude for a business that aspires to be successful. All stores, large and small, should treat their customers decently.

I stopped by tonight at 15 minutes to 6pm with my 10 year old daughter to get supplies to make a necklace. We were IMMEDIATELY informed that they close at 6pm. Like most small retail stores I assumed that if we were there a couple minutes after 6 it wouldnt be a big deal because we were clearly going to make a purchase. ABSOLUTELY NOT. We were made to feel incredibly uncomfortable while trying to grab the last couple beads she wanted at 6:03 and the worker clearly stated its after 6, I need to go. Im not saying that it was ok for us to be shopping after 6 when they were supposed to close, however if you want to keep people coming back sometimes you need to make an exception. I will never enter that store again and Im extremely disappointed at they way they treated both me and my daughter. We ended the trip by just handing them all the stuff we were going to buy and leaving. Extremely unprofessional in a retail setting.Side note, another customer came in just prior to 6pm, only needing a back to a single earring and the staff gave her a countdown of minutes till they close instead of just helping her. She would have been out of the store faster had they just helped her instead of letting her know how quickly they were closing.

So many different beads! And they make their own jewelry behind the counter. Wonderful place to browse and pick up a unique piece of jewelry.
