Spent the night in the backseat of my truck after arriving in Carlsbad NM. Before my journey to explore some parks, I required some protein rich breakfast. I wasnt disappointed when I stumbled upon Blue House Bakery & Cafe. As I couldnt find a local establishment late night for dinner on the previous night, I was determined to get some local breakfast. I had a breakfast burrito ( with sausage & potatoes) which was the right proportion not to slow me down on my planned hikes in Carlsbad Caverns an hour later. My only regret was not getting some of their tasty looking baked treats to enjoy later in the day.Sorry for the bad pics, but there were SO many locals there that all seemed to know one another & I didnt want to get the faces in the pics. As I ate alone at an outdoors table, surrounded by locals saying good morning & asking what took each other so long, I almost felt out of place, yet entirely welcome at the same time... But that can happen when traveling cross country alone 😃

We recently spent 3 nights in Carlsbad and went here every morning for breakfast. We sampled pastries, the egg croissant, egg bowl, French toast, and waffle. All were good. The croissants the best of them all.Their coffee was very good as well.The restaurant is very inviting with lots of outdoors eating. The staff is very friendly. They seemed to know all the locals that came in.Overall we loved it.

Drove in from staying at Guadalupe Mountains Park, came in for some breakfast. Was not disappointed at all!!! Food was amazing & loved my mocha frappe. Highly recommend this place!!!!

Ordered egg bowl with bacon and potatoes for $5.75. It was the smallest breakfast ever. I dont think there was even 1 egg in the bowl, the bacon was not fresh made, and the potatoes were a few slivers. My husband had biscuits & gravy and commented that it appeared the biscuits were not fresh made and the gravy was out of a can. Pastries were very good, so we would return to get pastries and coffee but will not waste our money on the breakfast.

Excellent food and service. Had the croissant breakfast sandwich with green Chiles and bacon, the salsa was perfectly spicy. Latte was excellent. But the highlight was one of their scratch made cinnamon rolls. All enjoyed under the shade of a lovely tree on their patio. A great breakfast after a week of hiking the Guadalupes!

Really amazing little place to have breakfast! Their burritos are great and all of their baked items are really good! Everything tastes freshly made. If youre looking for a hearty breakfast or even just something sweet in the AM theyve got you covered. Nice ending to a trip to new mexico!

Nice atmosphere for our Saturday brunch before heading home to Austin. We enjoyed the breakfast sandwich with sausage, french toast, and Belgian waffle. Everything was really good especially the Snickerdoodle cookies we bought for the trip home. Those were the best Snickerdoodle cookies weve ever had. Really wish wed gotten more!

Nice breakfast stop for the family. The service, food, atmosphere, and coffee were all very good. They have a friendly resident cat that the kids enjoyed petting. We’ll be sure to visit Blue House again the next time we’re in the area.

Driving through this little town and found this wonderful bakery. Breakfast was fresh and delicious, the people and service - very friendly. I wish this place was closer to home. Only thing that was wrong is the breakfast burritos got mixed and one person didnt eat his burrito while the other ate two. If driving through would love to eat here again.

Blue House is such a wonderful gem! Their breakfast and pastries are delicious! I will drive hours out of my way just to buy their yummy food to take home. Their croissants—especially chocolate—are to die for!

Stopped by here at around 7 am on a Saturday before heading over to Carlsbad Caverns and it was already pretty busy. I could see why! I had the spinach and feta croissant and my partner had the cinnamon roll. Both were delicious, as was the coffee!

Amazing food and service with great ambiance. We had the biscuits and gravy, French toast, and an orange white chocolate scone and each were delicious. Even though we had to sit outside because of fraudulent governor orders, they had heaters and comfortable outside furniture. Will definitely be back.

Very nice establishment with some of the best pastries I have ever had. I have traveled around the world and have eaten some very good pastries but the ones here I would definitely put as good if not better than them.

First timer here. Our coffees were perfection. French toast and egg bowl were also excellent. The scrambled eggs in the egg bowl were just right. Staff was super friendly and we got to say hi the the cafe cat.

I think this place is good but not great. Also it was $66 for 4 burritos and 4 croissants and a coffee.

The staff was pretty nice and helpful. And we enjoyed our food. However they don’t enforce their customers to wear masks. At least four customers came in without wearing masks. It started to get crowded and I felt very unsafe. I know it’s a state-wide mandate so I don’t understand why they wouldn’t just ask them to do so. Or least take their order outside. I think it would have been a great experience if they just would cared more about the customer’s safety rather than just pleasing their locals who refuse to follow rules.

The old house is more welcoming and has more personality than the staff. Seems like being a local is the only way to ensure friendly service? Which is a shame... At least they can pull a good shot.Grabbed a latte and croissant to go.

This was by far my favorite stop on my trip to southeast New Mexico! It was a nice quaint little coffee shop off the main strip. Everyone working was extremely nice and hustling to get all orders filled. I would highly recommend anyone stopping in at or traveling through the Carlsbad area to visit Blue House Cafe. They have great coffee and breakfast options that will suite all who are hungry.

Oh man, coffee was awesome! I got a ham n cheebs pastry,friend had a scone and cinniroll. Ham pastry was super savory and flakey, cinniroll had a great balance and lastly the scone wasnt a brick. It was busy when we came but the staff was on it!

My girl and I stopped here for a quick breakfast before going to Carlsbad Caves. Got the French toast and bagel sandwich along with a hot chocolate for my girl. I ordered two over easy eggs, a piece of toast, and a water for myself. I prefer a smaller breakfast. Well we got to the caves and everything was there except for my eggs and water. So I had a piece of bread for breakfast. No one in the establishment had masks on either (employees or customers) and some customers made a rude comment about my Fiancé’s Nike shorts on the way inside. We came from Texas where it’s hot plus we’ve been on the road for hours dressed for comfort. She has Nike shorts on get over it? Maybe it’s because we’re an interracial couple that would explain all the sideways looks or maybe they were shocked masks were present.

Stopped here at 9:40 on a Friday morning, on our way out of town. The place was hopping! We ordered a breakfast burrito and egg bowl to go and couldn’t resist the homemade cookies (snickerdoodles and chocolate chip pecan) for dessert tonite. Super friendly, great service!

This place has the best croissants, ham and cheese, that I have come across in Carlsbad. There is a nice patio where you can enjoy the morning sunrise while sipping your morning brew and eating delicious pastries.

Great little place! We stopped here to get breakfast & liked it so much we opted to have breakfast here the next morning before leaving town! They make everything from scratch so if they run out of something youll have to get there earlier the next day! Very popular place with the locals & tourists (like us)! The employees are great with their customers and extremely efficient so dont let the long line deter you from waiting - it doesnt take long & its well worth the wait!

Friendly place. Food was fantastic. It seemed that they knew most customers by name and took the time to ask how they were. The service was super fast. The seating is a bit limited, but it didnt detract from the experience.

This was a great experience for my family. My kids had the waffles and French toast both were delicious. I had the croissant breakfast sandwich wow amazing! The breakfast burrito was a little small for my man but no problem he got a croissant breakfast sandwich as well. They also have pastries that are delicious.

Food was good and quick. Staff was friendly and informative. Indoor seating is limited, but if its a nice day there is plenty of outdoor seating.

Breakfast is great, the portion for the egg bowl is small but just in comparison to overly large portions everywhere else. My wife loves the everything bagels.
