Called these guys and ask if they could get me a part I needed. Even though they couldnt find the part, I couldnt either, they still took the time to try to help me. Also had my 94 camaro ss trans rebuilt there and they did a great job. π
I brought my Honda to this shop because I needed a transmission sensor replaced, I knew exactly what part it was and bought it myself. They took the car in and charged me $180 to replace the sensor (which is as simple as getting under the car, disconnecting/unscrewing the old sensor and putting the new one in its place), but thats not what upset me. The new sensor set off a check engine light a few weeks later and I brought the car back, where they charged me another $200 in labor. My car was at their lot for four days before they even looked at it. They claimed that the sensor had gotten water in it and shorted out, so they supposedly dried it out and put some grease around it to keep the water out (I dont know why they didnt do that in the first place). It has been about 7 days since I got the car back, and my check engine light went off again for the same reason a couple days ago. This time I decided to go to the Honda dealership, because they would at least hopefully know what they were doing. The dealership tech told me that there is no way water would be able to get in the sensor or cause any issues if it did, and that the problem is the sensor was for Hondas in general and did not put out the correct voltage for my exact year and model. Thats on me because I bought the part, but I still think it was ridiculous for them to charge me $200 to do something that they should have done in the first place. Looks like they just cleared the engine code and hoped it wouldnβt come back. I am a college student without very much money, that $380 put a big hole in my pocket- I was without my car for five days also for that $200 service- and now Iβm out of more money because I had to go to the dealership for them to fix it correctly.
Anthony Gilbreth very knowledgeable and professional. All around great guy!
Brought my car here after what I thought was fluid replacement and transmission issues. Ended up sitting there for two weeks, and had to call multiple times myself to receive an update. Charged me $100 to drive my car around and see if they could tell what was wrong. After two weeks, I called yet again and was informed my fluids were totally fine but transmission was shot and needed to be replaced for $3200. Charged me another $40 (still dont know what for). Took my car to Plaza on N Kingshighway where I was told my oil, transmission fluid, and coolant all needed changed. Ball joint was completed damaged as well. Was able to get everything fixed for $600. After reading reviews, I can see this place has a history of f*cking over college students. Never again will I come back here nor should anyone else.
They did a rebuild of old my transmission. Great job in a timely manner. I highly recommend them.
Went to the shop for a simple fluid change. Told em it was acting weird before I brought it there. The tech said it was fine shifted normal, didnt feel wrong etc. Well the broke the reverse light sensor and told me it was fine to drive without it. VW of marion said its a no go to drive without that sensor. Well it ended up burning my clutch out in the middle of traffic and I had to push it while on the way to the shop for them to fix what they broke. They also wouldnt fix it after destroying the car. Unprofessional and had no idea how to work on a VW. 3 and a half hours of work for a freaking fluid change that cost $290. While breaking stuff on the car and still charging me for it. Please do yourself a favor and go somewhere else even if its a simple fluid change.
I took my Kia Soul to this place out of the recommendation of the dealership. They were supposed to be knowledgeable on working on these cars. Josh the manager made a deal with me that for 500 he would pull the transmission to fix the small slow leak from the front pump. If it turned out to be something serious he said he would put it back in and only charge me $200. I agreed to this not knowing that there was a possibility that they would completely mess up my car. They replace the seal twice and on the second time they sent me home 2 hours away where I barely made it home and had to be towed because the transmission was leaving a streak it was leaking so bad. He had informed me to get it pulled over at any signs a leak which was a tell tale sign to me that he was not confident the car was fixed. It was not. I was sent on my way to get out of their hair. Not only did they destroy my car he added an extra $200 making it a total of $700 when I went to pay but when I asked why it was higher the 200 was instantly waived. It would cost too much to have it towed back to them and I have no reason to believe they would be able to fix it on the third try. It had been revealed to me by them that they had worked on another Kia Soul previously that after they worked on it it wouldnt hold a seal. That would have been great information to have been told before I agreed to let them work on the car. Now I get to pay off this car while it sits in my driveway useless and I have no vehicle to drive. The dealership has been informed to not send anyone else here for this to happen to them. When I called and let the receptionist Rebecca know what had happened with the car and I told her I felt like they had messed the car up she actually laughed at me. She thought my situation was hilarious. I thought this place had a good reputation and I believe this is another one of those sad instances where a father builds a good reputation for his business and the children destroy it. had I known they had no idea how to work on this car theres no way I would have let them work on it. Josh the manager knew he had screwed me over so he has decided to hide behind his hateful receptionist and not return calls. at the very least he should have returned 300 out of the five to honor the original deal but I havent even bothered to ask that after being laughed at. I thought these were good people but I was wrong.
I received EXCELLENT service and Rebecca went above and beyond the call of duty in assisting me. I would recommend LeGrand Brothers to everyone. The staff was thorough, detailed and HONEST. They only charged $48 to diagnose my vehicleβs problems. Thatβs 1/2 the price the dealer charged. LeGrand Brothers are no nonsense mechanics and wont oversell a job like other places. I highly recommend LeGrand Brothers to everyone. They are the real deal !!!!
We had an associate take a vehicle there for an estimate. The estimate was almost $4,000 so she wasnβt sure what to do and left the vehicle there (vehicles only worth several thousand unrepaired). It was somewhat forgotten and sat there for several months. Employee went to pick up and Le Grande wants almost $5,000 for βstorageβ. Employee did indeed sign the paperwork for the repair estimate to be given which does include the storage/bailment clause so our fault there. The real issue is that Le Grande says they have βcalled more than 20 times, mailed letters and emailedβ. Phone numbers, addresses confirmed to be correct with our GM. We have pulled phone records for 3 months and not 1 phone call from them either to office phone or managers mobile phone. We spent hundreds with our IT department to confirm not 1 email was sent and nothing was ever received in the mail. We have now involved our lawyer about this to try and find a resolution. I certainly would strongly urge anyone to reconsider taking a vehicle to any business that engages in this kind of deceitful and despicable behavior like LeGrand. I have spoken to several local business owners and have heard 1 similar story and feel strongly that the others will never use them again, including one of their more valuable long time customers who is a friend of mine. I canβt emphasize enough how ridiculous this situation is, but itβs the course of action they chose to pursue so weβll see what our lawyer comes up with. At a minimum Iβve authorized our lawyer to spend at least $5K litigating just to keep LGT from treating anyone else like this in the future. Terrible business practices. Absolutely terrible.
Absolutely Amazing customer service and they actually listen to your concerns with your vehicle. They truly care about and respect our military which is sadly becoming a rare thing. They fixed my new problem as well as an old problem that no other shop could find!! Definitely have a life long customer. Thank you so much yall!!!!
Great people to deal with
The worst place and service I have ever been to. donβt ever let them check your car, they will just tell you the transmission is bad just because they want your money or at least the $40 checking fee. They told me my car transmission must be replaced and they estimated the cost twice what my car worth so I was shocked and paid them the $40 and left. I checked the car on three other shops after that and they all agreed that my car is fine and the transmission in itβs perfect shape.Big time liars.
Great customer service over the phone and in person. They made time to get my car looked at before they left for the night (close to closing) they were very thorough explaining the diagnoses and the gave me an estimate of worst case scenario, which was very helpful!
Im writing on behalf of Medlin Equipment Company in Charleston, MO. A little more than 2 years ago, we took one of our shop trucks (a GMC C4500 flatbed) to LeGrand for some transmission work. They did a transmission overhaul and we spent more than $5,000 on the repair. The repair came with a 2 yr./25k miles (I think) parts warranty, and when we got the truck back, it seemed to be fixed. Then, a few weeks ago, it started grinding when shifting in lower gears. We called LeGrand again to see what they could do to help. It was out of warranty by a few months, but there had only been about 10k miles put on it since the initial trans repair. They took it in, and found out the bearings had been stripped out that then caused several planetaries to be damaged. The total repair was going to be about $3,000 additional. We worked with Josh and Rebecca on a solution, and because the mileage was so low since it had last been worked on, and since it was just beyond the 2 year warranty mark, they agreed to cover this bill for us. NO CHARGE AT ALL.If thats not going above and beyond, I dont know what is. They took care of us, and thats why we will go back to LeGrand again in the future when we have transmission issues on any of our fleet vehicles. After this experience, I would definitely recommend them to anyone. We will be back. Thanks LeGrand Brothers!Clay Parris
Wonderful people to work with .
I had called DL-Transmissions NOT Legrand Brothers over the phone to get a consultation. When I arrived the women at the desk acted like we had recently spoke over the phone. (I was at the wrong place!!!) What she told me was the one thing she didnβt explain over the phone was the diagnosis for my car would cost me 40$! I left my car there thinking I was at the right spot when in fact I was not. I finally realized I had left my car at the wrong place!! I was at LeGrand brothers and not DL transmissions. It was too late. They charged me 40$ to tell me what I already knew (my transmission needed work) but hereβs the catch, they donβt rebuild transmissions or maybe it was the fact that they donβt rebuild the type of car I had. They told me no one in the area would, which was a lie. I got in my car to take it to the right place after paying 40$ for Info that I already knew and realized my gear shift was really hard to move. When I made it to DL transmission it was completely off track and nothing could be fixed (after getting my car back two weeks later, after they fixed my transmission without replacing it completely!!!!) we called them back after getting my car and realizing my cover was broken and they said they wouldnβt do anything for us. No surprise!! So I paid for a diagnosis (40$) that I already knew. They lied to me when they pretended that they had spoke with me earlier over the phone when I had not spoken to them but a different place of business, they could have easily told me that they had not spoken with me, they broke my cover underneath my gear shift & last but not least told me it would cost 3500$ to replace my transmission with a used one! If you have a Volkswagen donβt go to this place. Your wasting your time!! Go to DL transmission and donβt get these two mixed up! They are close in distance but two total different businesses!
Amazing my car has not have a problem in 5 years
Stay away!!!! I had a mechanic curse at me and call me a liar I tried to contact the owner three different times regarding the incident and he never called me back. If they quote you a it wont go over this price trust me it will be that price and they will find something wrong to make sure its that price. It took a solid month to get it back as well. They also decided to put my stereo unit face on that was taken off when I arrived there and proceeded to mess with every setting on my stereo and amps and now my door speaker doesnt work. Thanks for the property damage!!Do yourself a favor and run away from this place!!!!
They kept my car for two days, couldnt find the problem then left me to pay $157 for labor. They said the total would be $230 for the part being fixed now I lose $157 and didnt get any answers. Told me to take it to the dealership which charges $93 to diagnose the problem, overall terrible experience.
