I havent been in a long while but I purchased my first fountain pen and suitable stationary here. I was given recommendations by staff and they turned out to be excellent choices for the price paid. I will be a returning customer. I wish there was an online storefront currently, Ill just have to make a special trip instead.

Bob slate is great! Every pen, journal, card, folder, legal pad, or piece of stationery you could ever need. Support your local businesses! Dont even be mad that Papyrus on JFK recently closed—Ive always been able to find what I need at Bobs. They especially have a great selection of thank-you stationery, which is a good economical option if youre writing a bunch of thank you notes at once.

Helpful and knowledgeable staff. The owner is there almost every time Im in and knows every inch of the place. If you can write with it or on it, Bob Slate probably has it. They are a stationer, not a pen store, so their knowledge and inventory are slightly more exhaustive with regard to paper products than writing/drawing implements.

This place is a dream for anyone who writes by hand. International selection of high quality paper in all its forms. Fountain pens divine and a rainbow of ink. Notebooks and journals of all kinds, a nice selection of specialized Japanese journaling and indexing supplies. Cards, wrapping paper, and various accessories for lives of passionate reading and writing.

Ive loved this store for ages but my trip today was such a delight that I had to write this review. I went in looking for a certain product and the woman that helped me, Andrea, was kind, patient and extremely knowledgeable. I was so impressed with her level of customer service, especially since I only made it in 15 minutes before closing. But she didnt rush me - she showed me several options and worked with me to find the perfect fit for my project, and Im very happy with my purchase. This store always has fantastic products, an excellent selection of notebooks and a great pen collection. (The only downfall is they dont carry Delfonics Rollbahn notebooks, but to be fair, no one does!) Highly recommend for bullet journalers, notebook enthusiasts, greeting cards and gifts!

Bob Slate Stationer is awesome! Its right in Harvard Square and has almost everything that you could need in a stationary and writing store. Everything from fancy fountain pens and ink all the way to cheap glue-bound notebooks can be found here. Reasonable prices, friendly staff, and a good selection! Visit this place if you like writing, or if you just need a new notebook and pen.

Fantastic stationer, at Cambridge pricesYoull be hard-pressed to find a better collection of stationary or more knowledgeable stationary staff. But they arent cheap. The prices are, I would say, mid-range for Cambridge retail. Great for special occasions, less so for day-to-day needs.Wonderful selection of pens and illustration materials as well.

This is actually the worlds best stationery store. From beautiful wrapping paper to greeting cards, to fountain pens, to ball point pens, to inks, to writing paper, to mailers and envelopes--there is nothing under the rubric stationery that s missing. The staff is courteous and knowledgeable; the store is light-filled and well-organized. It is conveniently located in Harvard Square, and long may it remain there.

An analog oasis in the heart of Harvard Sq.. For all you bullet journalists, get your Leuchtturm1917, Rhodia, and Moleskine journals here. Fantastic selection of pens, filing supplies, binders, envelopes, calendars, planners, staplers, hole punches, and greeting cards. Too much to list. Very helpful and knowledgeable staff.

Great pens and pencils as others have said (grey ink? different lead hardnesses? yes) though I tend to go for the paper. Hard to find stuff, including A4 printer paper that I take around the corner to get cut to A5. No one, but no one, has A4. This is old school -- staff know their stuff, can order and recommend using actual expertise.

Fountain pens are like shoes - there is no substitute for trying them before you buy. Sure, you might save a few bucks online. But you are far more likely to find a pen that you will love if you go to a brick-and-mortar store to get it. And for that reason, Im very glad that Bob Slate exists.
