When my car broke down on I-15 north of Butte, I asked the tow truck driver to take my car to Car Tune. It was after hours when we finally arrived there. They had a drop box for car keys so I left my keys in the box. I called Car Tune the next morning and explained what happened to the car. The folks at Car Tune got right on it. Later, they called me with the details of what needed to be done and an estimate of what it would cost. I gave them the go-ahead to order the necessary parts and get the work done. When it was finished, Car Tune called me and let me know that the car was ready to go, and what the final bill came to. It was about $800.00 under the estimate! I was extremely happy with this news! I heartily recommend Car Tune to anyone who needs repair work on their vehicles!!

I had the brakes totally overhauled previously many years ago and because I purchased the truck used, I had nothing to go on, wow was i amased at how good the brakes worked when car tune of butte got done with my truck! This is how the brakes should have worked after the first overhaul, but didnt! They were professional, curtious and timely; i am very pleased.

We had an issue with the skid guard on our van as we were driving through Butte. We stopped in at Car Tune and they immediately had our car in the air. Not only did they fix it in about 2 minutes, but they didn’t charge us! We sat and played with their pup while we got to know Kevin and the gang. Such a great shop! Such great operators! My 2006 Murcery Mariner threw a bearing requiring the engine to be replaced. Not only were they $2000 cheaper than the other quotes I had received, the new engine I first received had something wrong with it that the experienced staff noticed on the test drive. They were not satisfied with the engine they had received and sent it back to the manufacturer to ensure customer satisfaction. The engine I now have in my car is flawless. Thanks to their honesty and experienced mechanics, I can travel without worry knowing that I received quality for my dollar spent. Best mechanic shop in town!

Owner was very unfriendly and was not helpful at all. I needed my car looked over and he said he didnt need to look at it to tell me what was wrong with it. Maybe that was true but he was very dismissive. Would not recommend going there.

I have never had a more pleasant and personable experience during a car emergency than these guys. They went above and beyond in all regards while working with me.My engine fell apart on the drive into Butte and they were able to have a look immediately. They helped me navigate the absolute nightmare of a totaled engine. I cannot express enough how much it means to me to have honest, forthright, straight-shooting mechanics to work with.Kevin is the man! If I could give this shop 10/5 stars, I would! Im inclined to drive across the country just to have this crew of outstanding human beings look at my car.

Very professional and they do the job right

Ive been a customer of Car Tune for three years. I have a Jaguar, a BMW and a Dodge truck. These guys are professionals. They are always honest and fair. They really understand modern foreign cars. And if they dont know the answer, they will find out. I trust them with my car more than I do the Jaguar or BMW dealers, who will rip you off. They always get me in right away and get my vehicles fixed correctly at a reasonable price. Car Tune has my vehicles on a routine preventative maintenance plan, and always give me good advice on caring for my vehicles. You just cannot go wrong taking your vehicle to Car Tune.

Kevin is a gem of a mechanic. We got stranded in the middle of a cross-country road trip due to a bad alternator, and he not only agreed to look at our van right away, but also had the part ordered, installed, and had us back on our way in under two hours. Wonderful to work with. He runs a very straight forward honest business. Could not recommend more highly.

Ive known Kevin for years. He is extremely knowledgeable and meticulous. Hes taken care of my cars for over 20 years now and Ive always been very happy with his work and prices. I would easily recommend him for anything from an oil change ( He does fantastic inspections with an oil change!) to a major overhaul. I was traveling from Utah, with my three young children to visit my parents in Great Falls. 15 miles outside of Butte, my serpentine belt snapped, dislodging the power steering hose. I called Car Tune just after 5pm and was told I could bring the car into the repair shop immediately. They were kind and professional, located a new belt, performed the work quickly, and it was all done after the repair shop was supposed to be closed for the day. The price was also very reasonable. I was incredibly impressed and grateful for their hard work and integrity.

These guys are the best, I had a miss firing cylinder and major engine problems start as I was coming over the pass, nursed my car all the way to butte, these guys fit me in right away and had me back on my road trip (moving across the country) in 2 hours. I had an excellent experience with the automotive specialists, (Kevin, Guy and Isaac) at Car Tune Automotive Service and Repair in Butte, Montana. They did a great job of replacing the intake manifold gasket, water pump and even installed a block heater. I checked with other automotive repair shops and they told me that it would be difficult to install a block heater in my Buicks engine, however Car Tune Automotive Service and Repair got it done. I would highly recommend this excellent automotive service and repair because everyone was polite, the work was completed promptly and it was very reasonably priced for what was done.

Kevin and crew are great. Had car trouble on vacation. Kevin and Gary took care of our problem. Pricing was very fair and results are excellent. I retired from the auto industry after 40 years. We pretty much exclusively go to these guys for vehicle repairs now. Professional, competent and affordable. They communicate when needed and you never go away feeling like they pulled one over on you. If you are interested, they will explain in detail what the repairs were or will be. Theyve even emailed pictures to me as they were working on the car. Car troubles are never good, but going to these guys is a treat compared to going to the stealerships!

Honest and upfront.

This shop fixes all our cars from a 1973 Mercedes to a 2003 Audi. The quality of the work is excellent. The level of honesty and communication is a priority. No matter how difficult and time consuming the job is it is done expertly and at a reasonable rate. We feel extremely fortunate to be able to trust our cars to Car Tune.

I would reccomend this place over anything else in Butte. Amazing service. I was at the midpoint of a cross country road trip, hit a bump and ripped up part of the bottom of my car. Car Tune happened to be the closest place I could find, but Im beyond happy I pulled up there. Everyone in the office was extremely kind, and they immediately pulled my car back to begin working on it. They have sweetest dog who promptly leaned into my legs and didnt leave. It was seriously needed therapy. After about 5 minutes, my car was fixed and they told me no charge! Endlessly grateful.

On a Monday, we were driving to Glacier when our engine went kaput. We got towed in to Car Tune and discussed options. We decided to rent a car from Leskover Honda and continue on our trip. Kevin ordered an engine while we were there and hoped it would come in time. By the time we came back on Thursday afternoon, they had ordered the engine, recieved it, put in the best part of both engines together, and fixed a few other things that were worn down. We could not believe they had worked so fast and had it done in just a couple days. They were busy and had a lot of cars and customers to handle, so we know they put extra priority to get our car fixed in time for us to get back on the road and get home. I would recommend them to anyone!!

My Toyota FJ developed some issues while traveling from Calgary down to Arizona. I made it to Car Tune shortly before they closed, and they still managed to get my power steering pump and alternator fixed in time to get me back on the road the next day. Very friendly and knowledgeable group guys, explained exactly what they did and why they needed to do it. Great!

On my way from Oregon to Minnesota, my cars check engine light came on. I did all I could to find a problem, but I could not find anything wrong, so I began searching for a repair shop along I-90 in Montana. After calling several, I finally found one that said they would take a look at it. All of the other places I called said they were booked out several days. Kevin gave me directions to the shop, and as soon as I showed up, there was a mechanic looking at my car. Car Tunes shop was full, but they made time for at least looking at mine. All I had was a plugged mass air sensor. In less than 20 minutes, the mechanic was out for a test drive, and before I knew it, i was back on the road. Great people. Thank you to Car Tune Automotive.

While traveling through Montana I had some car trouble. After reading the positive reviews, my boyfriend and I called Car Tune. Although it was late in the day (nearly closing time when we got there), Kevin told us we could bring the car by and that he would look at it. He diagnosed the problem right away, my fuel pump had died, and talked to me about my options.Luckily, they were able to get the part delivered for the next morning and fixed my car right away. I got an estimate before any of the work was done and knew exactly what to expect. My car was finished before noon the next day and I was able to get back on the road.Car-Tune is great. The staff was friendly, quick and honest. I highly recommend them.

Sometimes its hard to deal with car repairs. We went through a lot with them& in the end we ended up getting a cheaper bid than all other shops in Butte, saved money and got good old fashioned mechanic work. I went in and they fixed the original problem quickly. However, they said I needed new brakes and insisted I shouldn’t go far. I drove 100 miles and changed the brakes myself. The brakes were fine to begin with and had at least 15000 miles left on them. They didn’t need changed and I don’t like being hassled or ripped off. I’m glad I changed them myself and didn’t pay a couple hundred for nothing.

Probabaly a great place to go if youre a local, guy tried to charge 350 bucks for a part I picked up from napa for 200. New comers beware, they will try to scam you if they think you dont know better. Would and will not return.

While on vacation visiting friends in Butte, Montana, my Chevrolet Suburban developed transfer case difficulties. Being a retired World Class Technician, I am picky beyond compare about who I pay to repair my vehicle. After making several inquiries, Car Tunes was recommended to me by my local friends, as well as the staff of the motel.I drove in first thing that morning, with no appointment, and, ASE certified techs Kevin and Guy at Car Tunes had my truck diagnosed in 10 minutes flat. They provided several repair alternatives (I.e., repair, rebuild, or replace w/ factory unit), and, then, moved heaven and earth to get my transfer case replaced (no small task) so that I could get to Denver the next day for an urgent family matter. The job was done in record time, and on estimate.While I had friends in town, they still offered to drive me to the motel if necessary (as I am disabled). As a former national trainer for a retail automotive chain, I could not lavish enough praise on this operation, and the skill and professionalism they exampled with natural ease. The level of their ongoing professional technical education was readily apparent, which is the cornerstone to success in this industry. This place is the best! i wish I could give them 6 stars. After getting stranded 45 minutes outside of Butte while traveling through Montana on the cusp of winter, these guys not only waited for the wrecker to bring my car, but stayed after on a Friday night to get me fixed up and on the road before the evening was done. They spotted some shoddy work done by a previous business in another state and took care of everything. Needless to say my car ran beautifully afterward and I am thankful for not getting (pleasantly) stuck in Butte for a weekend. Thank you Kevin and everyone else who stayed to help!

My car broke down while traveling for work. I had the car towed to Car Tune, and we conducted most of our business over the phone. They diagnosed the problem, performed the repairs, and were very professional. It would have been easy for them to take advantage, but I felt taken care of. The car is now as good as new, with warranties and roadside assistance so next time (if there ever is a next time) I wont be left stranded. I was impressed.

The shop owner was unwilling to assist me, even after I advised him that I had an engine light come on while on the last leg of a round trip to grand junction and back and that I was scared and alone. He told me to come back later as he continued to shoot the breeze with a friend in his office. I was devastated and very upset. I give this place a big fat zero!

Would not go back again. I went in with a bad starter on my car and they “tested” to see if that was it, even though I had a few mechanics already tell me it was the starter, they came up with that it was the battery and put a new one in for me without my knowledge. Now my car is having problems with the starter again. It would have been nice to have it fixed the first time when I knew it was the problem. I could have put a battery in myself and saved a lot of money.

These guys saved the day! My 2013 Landrovers alternator failed on the way to Yellowstone. I was pulling a trailer and one by one all the alarm lights on my dash lit up. The team at car tunes sent a driver all the way to Missoula to get a new alternator and stayed late installing it. They treated me kindly and with respect and the repair was expertly done. This business is shady, read the reviews thought it would be a good place to take our car, took the car in just to get a water pump fixed, nothing was wrong with anything else!!! When we picked up our car, the engine started shaking, they said it was the motor mounts, which was just fine! So $1100 in we picked up the car, now are head gasket is broken, which was just fine! So basically this place broke our car. Rip off, horrible people, and this place is crap

On a long roadtrip, I broke down outside Butte with a near catastrophic problem. What a lucky break to be towed here. These guys made time in their very busy schedule for me, diagnosed the problem and got me back on my way in less than 2 hours at a very reasonable price.

On our road trip from Alaska to Utah we had an axel shaft break just outside of Butte. I called Car Tune because they were closest. They were very friendly and did everything possible to get us a part quickly and back on the road. When they discovered another issue (worn out ball joints) that would require a part the next day they made recommendations on good places to stay in town. I couldnt have hoped for a better experience given the circumstances. Quality team of professionals and great service. The warranty and road side assistance was just the cherry on top.

These guys helped me out immensely. I was towing a U-haul trailer from Salmon, Idaho to Minnesota and I was about 45 minutes out of Salmon when the check engine light on my Ford F-150 illuminated. My truck had very little power so it was struggling big-time. I called Car Tune of Butte and explained my predicament. They inspected my truck and quickly found the problem. My catalytic converters were trashed and my truck couldnt breathe. They needed to order a part that wouldnt be able to get to Butte for 3 days, but I only had about a week off from work and I needed to get my possessions and my 2 cats to Minnesota before going back to my job in Idaho. I thought I would be stranded in Butte. Incidentally, there was some sort of summer festival going on in Butte at that time and there were literally no hotels/motels available. I was told that, during this festival, some people will even rent Uhaul trucks and trailers for lodging. The folks at Car Tune made it their mission to help me get to Minnesota. They called all over town trying to find me some sort of means to transport myself and my things to Minnesota. They ended up finding me a Uhaul truck (even the Uhaul dealer commented on how fortune I was that she even had a truck available at that time). They drove me to the Uhaul store. I picked up the truck and drove back to Car Tune where, in the mid-July heat, they moved the furniture and boxes from the Uhaul trailer into the Uhaul truck. I left my F-150 in Butte and drove my possessions to Minnesota. I flew from Minnesota back to Butte the next week. Someone from Car Tune picked me up at the airport and brought me back to Car Tune where I was given the keys to my like-new truck. I drove back to Idaho without incident and then, after my seasonal job wrapped up, I drove back to Minnesota (again towing a trailer) without incident again. They did an awesome job fixing my truck and the level of personal service they provided me in my time of need was exceptional. I am very grateful.

We had a flashing engine light 50 miles from Butte. Called Kevin at Car Tune in Butte and he explained how to reset so we could get to Butte on our own power without damaging the car, diagnosed the problem (faulty coil) and had us back on the road in under an hour. Couldnt have been better service or more knowledgeable service. Cant recommend him and Car Tune in Butte enough.

WARNING!! SHADY BUSINESS PRACTICESMy son is a Freshman at Montana Tech and I live 120 miles away.  His truck broke down on campus and would not start.  There was gas in it and it would turn over however it would not start and need to be towed.  On Monday, based on Google ratings, I chose to have it towed to Car Tunes in Butte.  It was not until Tuesday that I received a call, on my cell phone, from the owner Kevin who told me that they had done ALL their checks and it was determined to be the fuel pump.  Kevin explained to me that this fuel pump was located inside the fuel tank and it was going to cost $420 to get fixed.  He further explained that this was common occurrence with Ford trucks and he gets at least one a week at his shop.  He was given the go ahead to fix it and over the next 3 days I did not receive a phone call, voicemail or text message.  My son went to Car Tunes on Friday to pick up his truck and he was told that they had to replace the starter and it would cost another $95, which he did not have nor expect.  I was extremely upset because I had been told something else was wrong with the truck and had received no call with an explanation let alone authorization to go ahead and replace additional items.  Kevin said he tried to call but got some weird message indicating he could not leave a message.  I thought how strange because you had no problem calling me on Tuesday to tell me it was going to be a $400 job.  His response was, “I didn’t charge him for labor, just $95 for the part.”  I explained how uncomfortable I felt because I had received no call, no explanation, just more charges.  Kevin again replied with, “This is it, if you don’t like it than I can take the new starter off and put the old starter back on.”   When I asked him if my son’s truck would start with the old starter back on he said no.  Keep in mind this was the owner I was dealing with and he had no empathy or compassion for the situation.  It was as if he was just looking for a payday and he got it.  I had no choice but to pay over $500 so my son could get his truck back.   It left me wondering, was it really the fuel tank to begin with or the $100 job that he did not call me about.  I feel like I was taken advantage of by the owner Kevin I will never recommend this company to anyone.The owner Kevin was extremely rude and has shady and untrustworthy business practices.

My VW started to die just as I rolled into Butte. I called Car Tunes the next morning, they told me to hustle on in and they were on it as soon as I got there. They saved my tush (and my VW) and I actually had to question the cost as it seemed too low (compared to what VW dealers charge in Utah!). My car and my spirits were back to their usual zippy selves in no time. Hey VW owners - our cars get great mileage - so consider driving to Butte to get your car serviced - no matter where you live!

I decided to have my 2002 Duramax repaired here while traveling through. I had my problem diagnosed on a Saturday by a previous repair shop in Kalispell Montana. The Car Tune mechanic confirmed the diagnosis and replaced one of my high pressure steering lines. He also replaced a coolant line while he was in there. I was happy with his work and honesty. He even pointed out a good place to get lunch while he worked on the truck and offered to pick me up if needed since it looked like it might rain. The mechanic, Kevin, turned out to be one of the owners and was a very likable guy who sat and chatted with me about various things.

Took my car in for a squeaking belt. I knew it was the alternator and they agreed. I get the invoice and they charged me $360 for a $260 alternator. They were shady about it when i called to ask. I will not be returning. Service was fast, same day repair.

They said they fixed four ball joints for $470. We drove it away, and it still was making noise. Took it to another shop, AND THEY ONLY REPLACED TWO BALL JOINTS. these people are too shady. Save yourself some money, go to Lisacs, and get the work done right. Or be prepared to be filing a small claims court case. 1/10 service, people, and work. 10/10 will never go back, and never reccomend.

DO NOT ASSOCIATE WITH CAR TUNE!I had a Toyota Landcruiser that needed front end work, the rig was barely drive-able, as it would shake very intensely at speeds as low as 40 mph. Ill try to make this long story short. Firstly, my vehicle was stagnant at Car Tune for over 8 months. Always with new excuses as to why it was not fixed or why it hadnt even been looked at for large blocks of time. Kevin immediately determined it was a steering box in which was needed. One day I received a phone call from the Owner Kevin, saying something along the lines of Yep! The Landcruiser is done I then asked the total of the repairs, and they totaled around $3,000.00. I was absolutely appalled, shocked and angry that Kevin took it upon himself to do 3k in work; and to not call before-hand? Very shady. Fast forward, I made approximately 10 or so different trips to Car Tune diligently (and extremely patient, mind you) bringing back my vehicle over and over again so they could attempt in fixing it, this was literally over an 8 month course. The vehicle was never fixed, and I was forced to sell it because I could no longer afford to pay for a vehicle that I could not drive. I sold the vehicle, and the individual (whos occupation is NOT a mechanic) fixed this issue for less than 100.00 and a hour of time. The rig never needed majority of what Kevin mounted on there without permission. Kevin became demanding in wanting to be paid, So he decided charging for all the parts was fair. When I explained to him how unhappy I was with this entire situation all Kevin had to say was Well that was in the past and We couldve fixed that rig! I was very perplexed and angered that he could actually make that comment, due to the fact it was never fixed over an 8 month period and over 10 visits in and out of Car Tune. No apologies. Over this entire frustrating process and upsurd time in which they held my vehicle, I remained very patient and never once called to chew their ass. This cost me lots of head-ache. Absolutely do not trust Car Tune of Butte, MT.

I had a great experience with Car Tunes. While driving my Audi A4 from Coeur dAlene back home to Scottsdale, AZ, (on a Friday before 4th of July weekend) I had an oil pressure light coming on about 50 miles from Butte. I had the car towed to Car Tunes. Kevin was able to move things around on his packed schedule to make room for me. He was able to diagnose the problem and fix it in about 3 hours. He charged me a very reasonable price and had me back on the road. I highly recommend him and his team for car service. Thanks Kevin!
