Incredible!! Please please dont buy cheap violins online like from Amazon... not worth it. The rent option to own is amazing and money transfers over to upgrades. Highly recommend as a new violin student.

I love music stores! Schmitt has a good selection of music -- from various piano methods to instrumental variety (band, string, guitar). They also do instrument rentals, guitar and piano sales & have a ton of ukuleles to choose from. Plus they offer instrument lessons. Their staff is knowledgeable and helpful. While I personally prefer Groth Music in Bloomington, Schmitt is a good local music store. Check them out!

I had to get a used flute for my kid asap. In less than 24 hours, they had two models for me to choose from in excellent shape and at reasonable prices. I got lucky to have Deb assist me who was an awesome flute player!! She checked both flutes out thoroughly and then played each to make sure the sound was good. She made me day!! And I paid way less than I expected. Thanks for the great service, Deb! I cant remember the name of the very nice clerk who searched the inventory the day before and ordered the two flutes. He was awesome too and super helpful!

My son has been taking guitar lessons here for the last 6 months and loves it. His instructor Tom Brooks easy manner and approach has really resonated with my son and has helped foster his love of guitar. I never have to ask him to practice, and I credit that to his interest as well as Toms instruction. Secondly, I was looking at keyboards and was fortunate enough to have Barbara assist me. She showed me a range of keyboards and helped me find the perfect gift for my wife. Barbaras knowledge of the products was excellent and the follow up I received through text messages and phone calls was superb. A lost art in customer service these days. She was a true professional!

I feel i was mislead. Rented my student an instrument. Was told if they wanted to switch to a different instrument a year of the rent would be applied to the cost of the new instrument. When i tried to switch instruments they said it only applied to band instruments not guitar, which is what we are switching to and they carry.

Yeah, this school has great instruments to sell, but okay instructors, especially Kelly Carter, who was trying to improve her teaching skills AS SHE WAS TEACHING ME. I talked to her on LinkedIn three years ago and NOW she saying shes becoming a better teacher. My goodness!

Have worked at guitar center and they could use some chips from Schmitt music. I brought my guitar in there to have one string replaced and they completely polished than guitar oil to fry board replaced all the strings and charge me five dollars! I tried giving a guy a tip and he refused to take it. Guaranteed, I’m by my next guitar from them

I had a good experience with this store for repairs for my sons clarinet. I purchased used and they were able to patch it up within a couple weeks for what I thought was a fair and reasonable price (not that I am an expert but the cost was about what I anticipated).The staff was kind and helpful and patient with my questions.I would recommend this store and their repair services to others.

Barbara was terrific to work with: attentive, knowledgeable and patient with my questions but never pushy. I actually ended up getting a different piano than originally purchased, Barbara was great to work with to resolve/change to the other brand. I would purchase from Schmitt again.

I needed a clarinet for my 10-yr-old to start band. Schmitt’s store in Burnsville made this a painless process. The sales associate was very knowledgeable and made sure all our questions were answered. Highly recommend!!

If I could give this store a zero I would. I came here looking to purchase a drum for my child. I walked to to cold stares and no greeting what so ever as if I didn’t belong in a music store? There was 4 people in the store including mysel: someone behind the front counter on the phone who ignored me, what seemed to be a manufacturer rep for a piano company, and an older woman sitting behind a desk towards the side who initially ignored me as well. Eventually she can back and asked if I needed help. I told her I was looking for bongos and noticed they didn’t have a percussion section. She said they really don’t carry too much and suggested Groth Music in Bloomington and just walked off. It was awkward like she had disappeared in mid conversation. I went to leave the store and there she was back at her desk. Nobody said thanks for coming in. Simply ignored again. Terrible service. And to think we weee looking for a baby grand for our den. We will take that $8k we were looking to spend elsewhere.

Nice selection of instruments, primarily pianos. Too bad the sales associates didnt welcome me, say hi or even acknowledge my presence. Ill take my business elsewhere.

Weve been renting a violin from this store for nearly 3 years. An eventless experience for the most part. We went back to rent a percussion instrument for the same child. Youd think theyd show some appreciation for having returning customers. No such common sense! The manager of the store seemed a bit irritated when we asked for an instrument they dont keep in stock, and reluctantly agreed to take my information and call me back in 3 days once the instrument arrives. When my wife asked one of the other employees if they offer discounts for multi instrument rentals, he reacted as if we are asking him for free stuff, as demonstrated by his smug response. Long story short, we still have not received a call from them after a week, especially, given that we emphasized the fact that we need this equipment ASAP.

Horrible service. Save yourself time and frustration. Just go to Guitar Center. Greg is clueless.

The staff knows when to come around to help us with the instruments and answer questions. They also know when to leave to let us test out the instruments. We bought a drum set, a saxophone, music books and accessories that day.
