I would say they are generally nice and I think I met the owner at Burke location. He didnt seem too customer focused. They wanted to tag me with 15% shelving fee Im the end he lowered it to 10%. I was there to exchange my a7c with a7Siii much higher price camera.I had only tried the camera in my living room but he said its open box now. They also didnt tell me that they only have a 15 day return policy. Plus he said this new camera is a final sale. I dont think Ill be going there again at least not at this location. So I paid 10% shelving fee for a new camera I kept for only 17days plus gave them $3,900 dollar of more business. He also didnt believe me when I said I buy a lot from them. We come to find out they had upgraded their system 2 yrs ago. So probably lost purchases.
The staff is very helpful. Took time to explain everything I needed to know.
Id give this shop 6 stars if I could. Great service, nice people, competitive pricing, family-owned, and just everything you want in a small business. We buy all our cameras, prints, and related gear here. I dont even think about shopping anywhere else.
The camera that I purchased seemed to be in decent enough shape when I bought it. However, now just a couple months in, it just stopped working. So now I have a (four figure $$) paper weight :/I know now to never purchase a used camera. Now, Im stuck with the bill (per the manufacturer) that will be the cost of getting a DSL camera brand new :/
Its great to have such great local camera store. Very knowledgeable and friendly service. Its a little cramped inside, but thats just because they carry such nice variety of merchandise.
Ive never had a bad experience with the crew at District Camera; bought and sold a lot of equipment from them for many years and always appreciate their patience and time working to make the experience perfect. They dont upsell and perhaps most importantly, they love all things photography be it digital or film.As an analog aficionado, I am also happy to report that that they have a large selection of color and B/W film available in their retail shop in both 120 and 135 format, very nice given the scarcity of film nowadays. They also have an amazing selection of used gear at very competitive prices that they guarantee will work. First place I look for all things photography... and theyre local! Thanks for everything, District Camera!
I had a great experience. I walked in thinking I was going to have to pay to get my camera fixed or replace it. The person who helped me, an older gentlemen spent some time looking at my camera, playing with settings and testing it out. He was able to fix my problems. I walked out a happy person and glad he was willing to take the time to help.
I was in town visiting my mom this past weekend and stopped by this shop on a whim. The guys working that day were super nice and were more than willing to check out my canon fd 50mm f/1.8 lens. The lenss aperture is stuck and it isnt worth fixing but it was really cool of them to just quickly take a look for me and confirm what I had unofficially suspected. I took a quick look around the shop and they had some nice medium format cameras that looked interesting and probably anything else youd want. I would definitely check them out if I were in the market for something in the future just based on their stock and customer service.
100% shop here before you buy. Allan was excellent in explaining to me (a novice) the differences in cameras that I was interested in. There was no pressure to buy even though me & my small children were in the store for a loong time getting restless & in the end, we got an unbeatable price! 10/10 service & saved $$
Very knowledgeable and friendly sales associates. Be glad to call on them again.
Great customer service!
Great store for anything camera. Friendly and knowledgeable staff, amazing inventory. No need to wait til November for Canon to fulfill back orders on the r6!
Bought a sigma lens for my Sony a 9 2, lady was very knowledgeable and ready to answer all my questions she went above and beyond. I will definitely come back.
Great camera store, especially if you are a real gear head. The selection is great for a medium sided store. The staff is outstanding and knowledgeable about current equipment. If you want good glass, where you can get hands on it before buying and friendly people to help you. This is the store to visit.
Had a great experience purchasing a used Nikon camera body and trading in a lens that I no longer needed. Excellent customer service.
Great customer service, Friendly staff!! Got my my passport photos taken here and the Post Office agent complimented that I photograph good! Thanks to you guys! Definitely will go back for the future events.
Extremely helpful and understanding, Damaged the ring around my lens while on vacation. Which ment I couldnt take photos. A young lady at the counter helped me out. They called me back with a quote, all things considered. So I had them go ahead and repair it. They had me on my way within 24 hours and at a great price. ..thank you. I highly recommend them
Ive sent a few friends here lately and they werent happy with the customer service and both bought cameras online. Im a diehard local business guy and didnt want to believe the store was falling off... well, my friends were right, I spent a ton of money there on a tripod setup and went with what the salesman insisted was the best setup for me. Well its been horrible turns out the guy was clueless and the tripod is the not meant for my needs. Not a problem though thats on me, its 2020 I couldve done my research. What really bothered me was when the ballhead failed and I tired to return it, the store basically told me Im on my own and to contact the manufacture. The entire reason to use a local store is to have them advocate for you when something doesnt go right. Now Im left trying too return this on my own.
Been going to them for over a decade... real honest reviews .. great help with any purchase.. they tell you like it is.. just recently bought new stuff from them .. as always they are excellent in their delivery of great service and product.. moved to cali from Burke and still get my any photo needs from them
Great place and great people to work with. They are cleaning and checking 5 camera bodies for me. Ramona has been great to work with. She is very knowledgeable and will to explain the process and what she was having the techs check for me. Moved here from the St. Louis area 2 years ago and have been really happy with finding the neighborhood camera shop to replace my favorite places in St. Louis!!!
Friendly and knowledgeable staff. It took a while to get my camera repaired, but they definitely know a lot about cameras. Mine had to be sent to Sony for a bad motherboard.
Great service. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They have a TON of cameras, lenses, and accessories to choose from.
Got a great deal on a quality camera. I don’t know much about photography and I could have easily been swindled into spending more than I should have. I researched the camera I bought when I got home. Found out he sold me a $500 camera for $246.
I had the best experience today with Alan. I had a very small issue with my D7200 regarding the focus. He was professional, knowledgeable and helped me right away.THANK YOU ALAN!
Especially since camera focused stores are a dying breed, this place has a large collection of options and expert, no pressure advice to help hobbyists and professionals alike. Was the only place we could get large capacity compact flash on short notice in the DC area.
We had a great experience at District Camera! The staff was friendly, knowledgeable and very helpful. I also learned that they match B&Hs prices which is awesome because I love to shop locally but cant deny I love those online prices. Huge thank you to the amazing staff for helping me find the item I needed for an event this evening as well! I definitely recommend them for any of your camera/equipment purchases.
I have shopped all my Nikon gear here for years and I will always come back because they treat me like family. I live 2000 miles away and have never met Eldar face-to-face, yet still hes like family. They are generous with their time and knowledge plus they always recognized and respect loyal customers. Great people all around.
Huge selection, friendly staff, and youre surrounded by people who appreciate and like using a camera. I got a few things at a discount since they were the last of the stock, and they offered to call when the lens I want comes back in to that location. Thanks all! Will definitely be back.
Came in to purchase a camera bag as a gift. They loved it but we decided to trade it for the larger version. No hassles at all and they were so helpful showing me the different features of each bag.
Tiny shop with alot to offer. Great inventory of Nikon, Canon, Sony, and just about every other brand you can think of. Staff is friendly and helpful. If you are looking to start off they can answer any technical question you have. Highly recommended.
These guys were helpful and friendly and very knowledgeable! Highly recommend!
Friendly and helpful folks. Had a good experience.
I took two cameras for District Camera and Imaging to have them repaired. It was my first time visiting the store and my first opportunity to meet the staff. Almost immediately, two people were examining my cameras and helping to determine whether they could be repaired in the store or whether the repairs would require more serious attention. I was fully expecting to leave the cameras and possibly to have them sent out for repair. After about 10 minutes, the problems were diagnosed and both cameras were repaired. Imagine my surprise when the charge was only a little over $12. I would have paid $150 without a second thought. It is so refreshing to meet people who believe in customer service and integrity. Todays repairs turned out to be minor, but the extraordinary service made me a customer for a lifetime.
I have really great experience with District Camera store at Burk,VA. They make me so happy when I am purchasing a Canon expensive camera.... Miss Romana explain me to details everything about camera,,,,Mr,Jack I believe he is own that place is so wonderful person. I recommend if you buy a nice camera please go to District Camera store.
Came to the store on a business appointment. A bit short on space, but doing what they could with the space. Not being a camera expertly myself, I came to the experts for appraisal and sale of camera equipment. Quick and to the point. 10/10 would bring my business back to them.
If you are thinking of making a camera purchase, please consider PhotoCraft in Burke before going to the big box stores. Heres what Ive observed about them.1. Pricing. I had my eye on a Nikon D7100 for some time, and I finally pulled the trigger and bought it. Best Buy had this on sale, but I was surprised to find the same unit on sale at PhotoCraft for the same price ($200 off list). Additionally, their after the holidays promo was that they would pay sales tax, which was a savings of about another $50 for me.2. Expertise. Point blank, these folks are experts in their field. They know exactly what the technology is, how to use it, and can make recommendations based on that knowledge, and your needs. Its somewhat rare to find a photography expert in the big box stores.3. Service. Ive noticed some other people on here ding these guys for slow service. I think its related to their expertise. They really work with their customers, let them try out the equipment, and help them to make a good purchase. This frequently takes a while. I have had circumstances in which I come in and all of their representatives are busy with other customers. They typically let me know theyre busy, and will get to me when theyre done. It doesnt bother me because I know I can expect the same time and expertise theyre giving to their current customer once its my turn.4. Local business. When you buy from a big box retailer, where does your money go? I try to keep my money in my community. Thanks PhotoCraft for all of your help!
They had every product I didnt know I needed for my first camera kit and were prepared to answer any question. David really showed patience walking me through the numbers
Great folks! Very knowledgeable staff. This is the place to buy your gear!
I recently purchased a $2700 lens from PhotoCraft. Unlike other camera shops in the DC metro area, there was a sense of comfort upon entering the store and engaging the employees. For me, the source of my comfort was the lack of condescension and judgement from the employees. The gentleman that helped me understood that most everyday people purchasing a $2700 lens would show some hesitation about the purchase. This came across in how empathetic he was during our conversation and the hour I spent checking out the lens. There was no rush, no feeling as if he had better things to do with his time, no sense that he thought I was an idiot for possessing some hesitation about the purchase. I was truly grateful for his courtesy and patience. These days, one of the only reasons to purchase from a brick-and-mortar store is customer service, and from what I experienced at PhotoCraft, they knock it out of the park. This aspect of their business, combined with the fact that their lens pricing matched popular and well-regarded online camera stores, made me feel good about purchasing from PhotoCraft. Without a doubt, PhotoCraft earned itself a new repeat customer in me. And if youre like me, a photography enthusiast of normal financial means that has to balance the cost of gear with other priorities in life, then I hope you give PhotoCraft a chance to earn your business too.
Local owners. Experienced staff. They listen. Reasonable pricing...
Great service, very knowledgeable stuff, 0 attitude. Worthy the trip. support your local sheriff, they are here when you need them.
Decent place, large array of lenses to choose from which is nice, but I woundnt buy one there unless you cant wait to have it shipped from a website like amazon or B&H. They tax the lens so much and if you want a return they put a 15% restocking fee which they didnt tell me about until after, even though I asked what their policy was before I bought it. Borderline scammy if you ask me.
Very knowledgeable and helpful. Extremely competitive with Amazon accept you dont have to wait for shipping! Business is well stocked with a great variety.
This is a great store if you are a camera buff and need some equipment, but just be sure to be aware of their hours. The employees are very kind if you are already in the store when closing time comes up, but otherwise I find them a bit of an inconvenience. I will add that I have to drive an hour to get there so it is more of a personal issue. Like most camera stores it is a bit tight inside, but I do love to go there for the products they carry.
The tiny store is very dark, stocked up to the roof, no room to walk, I almost injured my eyes with the protruding shelf hooks.Paid $35 for a camera diagnostic and got it back without any explanations of malfunctioning except that a repair would be expensive. It took them a long time to locate my camera in the shop. They even did not secured the screws leaving them half-way out.Right away they would offer buy something from them. For repairs they will send to a manufacturers shops with their own markup for services. So, if any repairs, I would suggest send it ti a manufacturer right away.
Been shopping @ District Camera for years. Very knowledgeable staff and reasonable prices. A wonderful change from the usual store.
Bought a lens online, after no communication I had to star calling them. They said they were trying to find the lens in the store and would get back with me, never called back. I called them again and they said they still couldnt find the lens. I would NEVER do business with this company again. Incompetent or dishonest... either way 1 star.
Store is small and cramped because there are so many boxes everywhere, can barely navigate through store. Also people seemed too preoccupied to help my daughter and I download pictures from her camera and we waited a good 40 mins before a knowledgeable, friendly person from the back finally helped us.
I live in Charlotte NC but really needed a new camera that had just been released. No one within 400 miles of me had it but someone suggested I try District Camera. Not only did they have it, but it was late in the day and they asked the UPS guy to wait in their store until my transaction was approved so it could go out that day. I had it at 10am the next day. They even let me pay by paypal when my debit card was giving me trouble. It was a fantastic experience overall and I highly recommend them whether you are in the area or ordering online. Top notch customer service.
Knowledgeable staff, great inventory. Prices reasonable. Its hard to find shops like this anymore.....
Everybody is super helpful in the place. I love the fact that we have a local camera store that I can run in, and grab things.
Excellent, Ramona is a true pro. She was very patient with me and gave great suggestions. And Eldar has always been fair with my trade in gear. And Eldar is just Eldar. (Smile)
If you want real customer service come here. Every time Ive come for advice or help, I have been impressed by their willingness to spend time providing knowledge and options - not to mention the large inventory.
Great service, great prices, excellent selection of cameras and accesories. Very knowledgeable staff. Best camera store in the DMV.
Been going here for photo paper and film for two years now. Great place and the staff is super nice and willing to help with anything! Theres not a lot of room to walk around, though.
One of the better photo stores in the area. Lots of used cameras and other equipment. Very knowledgable staff.
So nice to actually be able to touch a camera vice looking at it on a web site. The staff is pleasant, knowledgeable, and not on the other end of a phone.
Great staff and service, plenty of selection between the two locations.
Was staying nearby for a night and needed some camera gear. They were excellent.
They definitely upped the price for getting your films developed. Ridiculous. Get em developed elsewhere. Not worth the price.
Very helpful staff who know their products and inventory. They understand photography and what photographers need to get the image.
Whether you are a novice or professional photographer, you need to go to Photocraft. You wont pay any more than you would at a big name store and youll come out of there having dealt with real professionals and not some kid that has been randomly assigned the electronics section and knows nothing but how to open display cases.
Helpful staff, very knowledgeable and patient. Had a pleasure shopping around the store.
A bricknmortar store with almost everything, including enthusiast staff, knowledgeable and helpful. Which maybe why the customer experience, in my experiences there, havent been too pleasant... unprofessional. The focus on the one customer, or phone call, at a time is a problem, leading to unreasonable waits when busy. Or, when I was the only person in the store, the phone rings and my salesperson leaves me standing unattended while none of the three other staffers pickup the call. Buying a new SLR I wanted to see what midrange Sony and Pentax had to offer but and Im given a entry level Nikon to try. I had to ask three times to get what I came in for and then never got any further assistance. Frustrated, I thanked them and then left.Otherwise... The stores stock is great, and theres little or no price difference from online retailers. Check the online web store.
Extremely helpful and knowledgeable staff on both the technical and artistic sides of film and digital photography.
Not sure what others are talking about in regard to this shops price, but I certainly didnt get a deal thats any better than online. I went in to trade in a DSLR and the trade in cash was actually $50 less than what I eventually got online. Only the store credit was comparable....but you must buy the new equipment from them, and theres tax to pay. Not to mention theres a lot more incentives online. The staff wasnt really willing to budge on the price either, and gave me a take it or leave it attitude.I understand its a brick and mortar store and they need to have a bigger margin to survive. And obviously theres nothing they can do about the local taxes. But it was a wasted trip for me. Maybe theryre good if youre looking for used equipment. However, if you know what you want and its a current product, a reputable online store is probably a better choice.
Helpful staff, great selection, and quick to help trouble shoot.
I was at another camera store closer to my apartment looking at some midrange tripods. I found one I kind of liked and decided to do a quick Google search on the product. Ive of the first things that popped up in my search was a pricelist for vendors near me, and District Camera had the same one for $40 less than the shop I was in. I might have tried to haggle at that shop, but Id been left to my own four quite a while and decided to head on over to Burke instead. So glad I did; not just for the savings. The staff are excellent and patient and even remembered having seen me at the Nature Visions show the weekend before although I hadnt specifically stopped by their booth. An incredible place to shop for camera gear. Also, their pricing for photo printing services is about 40% less than the other camera shops in the area. Ill be driving over there to pick up my competition photos soon. Ill update this later with regard to the quality of the prints.
District Camera had very knowledgeable staff and prices that match the online stores.
Helpful staff and a large selection.
Great people, excellent knowledge & advice, & great inventory.
Great slittle shop! Very knowledgeable staff, I came in just to check out the shop. I left purchasing 2 lenses! I will only come to this shop for future purchases, NO more Amazon people. Keep your local camera shop in buisness!!!!!!!!
District Camera rocks! Got my new lens delivered in 1 day with ground shipping! Needed the lens for an event, got it on time!
Great little gem of a store with amazing stock on hand but something else much more important...INTEGRITY! Long story short, my nearly new nikon camera and spare lens were stolen from my car a few nights back. Despite little hope of recovering it, I thought why not alert the store in the event the thief was stupid enough to try to sell it within 1/2 mile of where he stole it. I sent an email to the sales dept with a brief description of our stuff, and to my utter shock, Jack from the store called me the next day to say he thinks he may have the guy who stole my camera in the store then and there, and he is trying to sell it. When I was able to confirm the serial number from home, Jack boldly confronted the thief with this info, and he quickly departed the store leaving my camera behind. If that doesnt convince you to support this store, not sure what would. Thanks again you guys!!
Yes I would recommend this store to anyone in town or coming out of town.
Great shop and staff. Allen was a big help and answered all of my questions.
Great selection of equipment with good prices. Staff is excellent to work with.
Great assistance from staff with patient thorough explanations. Definite gem. Support local businesses!
I ordered a Manfrotto Tripod Ball and legs and had them shipped to me here in Sacramento, CA. The whole transaction was smooth and customer service was great. I highly recommend this company, also for having competitive prices.
Good deals, good stock, and amazing staff.
Very helpful.
They have everything you need and more. They are also very helpful and knowledgeable.
Great shop with a nice selection across many brands.
This is the best camera shop in the DMV area. If you are a photographer at any level or a videographer at any level, this is the place for you. All the employees are super helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable. I have been shopping here for over a year now and ever time I walk in the door they have treated me with nothing but kindness and professionalism.I have bought two cameras from them and I have sold camera gear to them as well. Theyve always offered me a fair price on all my camera items. Even when I dont buy anything they have always spent time with me helping me with all my questions. For people in the photog and video industry its very hard to buy gear or try it before you buy it, this store is exactly what you need. They also rent out camera. Its a local candy store for us and it has the best customer service you have ever experienced in the DMV.I constantly send people to this store and I have nothing but good things to say about them The owner is friendly, the employees are helpful, and their stock of camera gear is massive. You cant go wrong shopping here. When you go, make sure to ask for Ramona and tell her that Guzman sent you, once she smiles youll know youre at the right place. By the way if shes not there, dont worry they dont have one bad employee.
Great inventory, but oh boy if your not white (muslim or arab) or something you better hold on to your stuff cause youll be getting all kinds of looks from people around there.
Very helpful and knowledgeable staff ... always a pleasure to do business with District Camera.
Great selection, staff is always friendly, helpful and knowledgeable!
Fast and easy to get my film developed. will come here again.
Always a great experience, nice and knowledgeable people and fair prices.
Love the shop! Their logo kinda looks like a dick though
A well stocked camera store with very helpful employees
Helpful and knowledgeable staff, repairs on site, great team.
Best place around for all camera needs.
Knowledgeable people that spend the time with you to ensure you get what you need
Well stocked. Very busy on the weekend, hard to get service
Good selection at competitive prices!
Everyone there is very helpful.
Best place to go for any camera needs.
Great old-school, brick and mortar, mom and pop-style camera store. They had the best price available on a new 70-200mm 2.8 IS ii that I could find anywhere among reputable (non-Brooklyn-based!) companies. With two-day shipping it was still cheaper than what youd pay new at Adorama or B&H with regular shipping.I even called them the next day to confirm my order, and they helped me right away...because the inventory was showing out of stock! But the gentleman I spoke with told me their inventory is tied directly to the internet, so when it says in stock they really are in stock!Bottom line....great company. I dont know how they can compete against the giants of the industry (Adorama, Samys, B&H, or even Amazon). But Ill gladly give them my business in the future, if their prices can remain competitive.
